Oops, no. Forgot.
Reflex (Falcata): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Reflex (Klar): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 Ugh. It has to be the weapon that I'm strapped to, of course.
Asaran pulls on the Klar then shrugs, That can't be good for either of us..., he thinks and then chops down with the Falcata.
Falcata: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 6 + 2 = 20 for 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (4, 2) + 4 = 10
Reflex (Falcata): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22

Asaran plants his foot and heaves, pulling his Klar clear of the sticky beast. He then shakes his head and points at Iskender, then rubs his throat, croaking out, "Also good." He steps forward and starts to scan the coffin-thing for traps while the healer works on Sunjeet.

"Thank you. That was two deadly creatures that pushed us to our limits. I think we need to tread carefully here."
With that, Sunjeet carefully searches the room and door to the next area.
GM Tribute |
The bard finds nothing of interest in the coffin, but a mechanical trap on the stairs going down, and warns others so he can disarm it. He explains:
Trap: A rather ingenious mechanism is built into this
staircase. Although the trap’s trigger is at the top of the
stairs, it does not function until weight is applied to the
bottom step. This “arms” the trap but does not trigger it.
The trigger is actually the top step. Once the trap is armed,
any weight on the top step causes spikes to emerge from
the walls on either side of the stairs. Would-be thieves
would arm the trap as they descended into the tomb, only
to trigger it as they tried to exit. Many ancient Osirian trap
designers believed it was better to prevent thieves from
escaping rather than to attempt to forbid their entry.
Although it would require some acrobatics to jump past the trapped steps, it appears easier to disable the mechanism and prevent the trap from triggering again.
Disable device DC20, you have the dead Pfilian's mwork tools to remember him by!

Dusty casts guidance onto the bard to help disable the trap (+1 bonus)
Asaran Neitekh |
Asaran nods, then rubs his throat again as if to warm it to help him speak, "Yes, very much so, thank you. Too bad it'll fade before I can take more advantage."
He steps over to the stairs, nodding at the bard's find, "Looks relatively straightforward, though I'll leave it to your much more nible fingers."
Dusty Fireseeker |
Sorry I have a little confusion here. Who is the trap detector/remover?
Sunjeet Azra'eil |
Sunjeet gets out some tools and sets to work on disarming the trap, explaining things as he goes along. He takes his time, but still works efficiently. Unfortunately, a pick slips in his hand while he is working...
Disable Device: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16
SRD: Retry? You can retry checks made to disable traps if you miss the check by 4 or less, though you must be aware that you fail in order to try again.

Sunjeet expertly disarms the trap after a near-disaster the first time. You enter a preparation chamber (B28).
The air in this chamber is cool. The walls and ceilings are tiled
with stone, but the floor is hard-packed earth, giving the area
an unfinished quality. A long stone table rests against the
western wall, flanked by two large brass urns. A flight of steps
ascends to the south, while two passages lead north and east
out of the room.
The brass urns
were used during the mummification process and are now
empty, though each weighs 200 pounds.
You move into the next chamber.......
An earthy scent fills this large chamber (B29). The ceiling and walls
are tiled with stone, but the ground is bare earth. Stone
benches are set against the east and west walls, and torch
holders are mounted in the corners and on either side of a
wide doorway to the west. The beginnings of several shallow,
rough passages have been started along the eastern wall and
in the southwest corner, but the excavations are incomplete,
ending in earth and rubble after only a few feet. At the south
end of the room, a short, wide flight of steps descends to a set
of stone double doors.
Dusty Fireseeker |
hmmm. I wonder if these excavations date back to the tombs creation, or are they more recent?

dusty got a 19 on her will save, and an 11 on her fort. that would make her diseased but not distracted.
Dusty Fireseeker |
actually I think you just multiply the results of the two die by 1.5, rounding down.
GM Tribute |
Attacked by little, skeletal cats of all kinds, Dusty and Sunjeet hurt a few cats, but the rest keep coming. Asaran and Dusty keep their composure as the cats climb over them. Asaran steps away and smokes a mass of skeletal cats as he doused many of them, and they collide into others in their panic. Their unlife spouting from them as the holy mist takes many of their number.
