The Trials of Ascension

Game Master bbangerter

I forgot to mention a monster to fight. How about one of the Heralds. All the God's have a herald and they're usually pretty bulky and awesome. Like the Lord of Chains for Zon-Kuthon

What's your ruling on guns?

Grixus Nox: Use emerging guns rules.

http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=822293

There's the link to Ouranos. I'll have some story to post later, and include the monster with that.

After looking back through the requirements, I see I missed a few things. Not used to using traits, so I'll need to pick a couple of those, and the HP isn't listed either. What do you mean by background skills?

Background Skills

I made this character for another game that the GM up and vanished on us... I've still been aching to try this bard/Mesmerist build out. She is currently level 1 and i can easily advance her to level two.

ReZa: Looks good. You'll also need to update to use the background skills system.

Dark Archive

so i can just leave this dot you right? i'll be back after i think about things

color me interested.

Ooh, this looks really cool. I think I can do my chi blocker rogue here. Entirely unarmed combat. Might not take monk, so that I can be chaotic. Maybe Brawler/Rogue...

The ideas dance in my mind.

EDIT: Is there a reason for non-good?

1 person marked this as a favorite.
Josh.Ingle wrote:

Primarily because some of the creatures you will be fighting will be of good alignment - so the characters need to not feel bad about killing them to take their power.

Dot. Probably Enigma Mesmerist/Knife Master Rogue.

Working on a Treesinger Druid//Fighter & leaning towards Hierophant.

"...[no] double classing into alternate archetypes. "

Do you mean only one archetype allowed per class?

I'm working on an Elven Wizard/Kensai Magus with the goal of following the Archmage path.

BossBedlam wrote:

Sorry. Let me clarify that. Multiple archetypes are allowed under the normal rules (so long as they don't both change the same class feature).

What I meant is you can't take ninja/rogue as ninja is really just an archetype of rogue. And you can't take cavalier/samurai for the same reason. (These were classes that were based off of another class prior to the PDT fully fleshing out the archetype system).

Updated list. Again call it out if I missed you somehow.

Wandering Messanger: I did not see a mythic path you expect to take. Did I miss it on the character sheet? If not can you add it please.

Any notion of when recruitment ends?

When Does Recruitment End?
It closes June 3rd. I will take the following week to make selections. I will actually be out of town much of that following week, so be patient that week.

Liberty's Edge

Btw GM Ascension, my monster choice was Kaiju, baja1000 suggested the Heralds. :)

Okay, i have updated ReZa to reflect the background skills. I've also changed her traits to improve her spell casting.

I gots my fluff and some of my crunch. More crunch to follow after I have time to plot and scheme a little more, though I'm probably just going to get some armor and basic survival gear, as in ranks in survival, a light source, and some rope, go for the explorer that relies on skills more than gear. Make up for the low carrying capacity with the ability to get my stuff from the environment instead.

Dark Archive

i made a goblin barbarian/rogue both unchained. i forgot to pick a path but i want to fight giant scorpions.

Here is JoshB's submission:

Silas Kaine is an elven Magus||Wizard planning on following the Archmage path.

I think some battles against mythos creatures like Dark Young, Spawn of Yog-Sothoth, Gugs, etc.

Here's My Treesinger alias.

Finalizing crunch and need to post fluff, but he went from Treesinger/Fighter to Treesinger/U.Monk.

--DeviousDevious

Battlefield mobility is often a strong component of my preferred play style (get behind the enemy, flank the enemy, etc).

Would you explain the reasoning behind the restriction on flying and teleportation?

I assume this also applies to abilities like the monk's abundant step, shadowdancer's shadow jump, the spell shadow step/walk?

What about summoning creatures that have teleportation or flight abilities? Familiars and animal companions?

How would you treat the spell phantom steed?

Are we out the ability that grants this, or can we work out an alternative ability to replace it? For instance at 8th level a conjuration wizard gets dimensional steps, would I be able to replace this with another 8th level ability? If I simply can't take conjuration because of that 8th level ability, but I want to focus on summoning, then I'm loosing out on the 1st level ability.

Is becoming incorporeal banned? Like Ethereal Jaunt spell.

How about extra-dimensional spaces like Rope Trick or Create Demiplane?

Is crafting magic items allowed? Craft Construct? Create new weapons?

Are simulacrums allowed? Doppleganger simulacrums?

Are we allowed to buy trained animals?

How do you treat face skills? Do you have any houserules or allowed to use Paizo standard rules?

fnord72: Once flight and/or teleport is easily accessible to players a lot of environment factors become incidental descriptions instead of meaningful parts of a battlefield. I want to preserve the terrain/environment as options for a number of the fights.

It does apply to abundant step, shadow dancer, etc.

Summoned creatures with flight/teleportation are allowed if those abilities do not allow passengers beyond the creature itself. So summoning an air elemental is fine, summoning a pegasus would not (as such a creature could bear a rider).

Familiars and animal companions with innate flight/teleportation are also fine under the same restrictions.

Phantom steed would not gain the 12th and 14th level abilities.

If you choose an option that one such ability includes one of these, we can work out something to replace it (such as your example conjuration wizard). Options that exclusively add such an ability are not allowed (teleportation sub-school of conjuration).

BossBedlam: Ethereal jaunt would not be allowed, as it allows for all intents and purposes the ability to fly (move in any direction).

Rope tricks and demi-planes are fine give that the normal entry point and exit point are in the same location.

Crafting is allowed (see the campaign tab for full info on downtime that will be available) this includes crafting constructs, armor, weapons, whatever.

Simulacrums are allowed, but I take a very conservative approach to what powers a simulacrum gain from the 'parent' creature.

Trained animals are allowed.

Face skills will be used as per the standard rules.

Sorry, working on my character. Just wanted to know, are technologicals weapons available to us? If not it will not break the character.

Woot! Thanks for the good news, GM Ascension. I can definitely work with these parameters.

Teiidae: I'm going to go with no technological equipment in this game (might do a game some time in the future with tech.... but that would be quite a ways off).

Kiradia wrote:

That's right. Will fix that in the next copy/paste of submissions. You wanted to fight all 3 Kaiju at once right? :)

Liberty's Edge

All 3 Kaiju show up at once? Ahem... *deep Japanese voice* "Let them fight."

But seriously, you give me level 20 tier 10 with full 880,000 WBL? Sure, I'll give that encounter a go with my magus swashbuckler. :)

ReZa starts to tap her chin. "Three kaiju... At once." a wicket smile spreads across her face. "We can take em."

You can always go all Dragon's Dogma on them.

As much as I would like to play in a mythic gestalt game, your focus on combat worries me a bit. I like combat to be a natural part of the story, not that we are jumping from one meaningless fight to another. I would also like if there are other aspects, like roleplaying and skills... So will those other things be there?

In-teresting. Dotting.

This is probably not the game for you then - you'd be a better fit for my other game I'm running, but I'm not recruiting currently for that game.

I've narrowed it down to dwarf hydrokineticist 2/bloodrager (id rager) 1, unchained monk 1.

this is the stats for jarred henninger. there was an undead that i wanted to fight, i can't remember what it was callled but it shot force lightning lazer beams

Silas's enemy is any mythos creature like a Dark Young of Shub-Nigguath

Baja1000 here with my submission all finished. I was having a hard time with my original idea, and then the game I had made this character fell through so I did a bit of editing to work him out here.

I've always wanted to play a construct that would talk and speak out his emotions sort of like the HK from Star Wars, and a wyrwood is the option for me. Still, this character is one I loved making so I'm gonna give him a shot here next!

He's a Swashbuckler Cleric, aimed more towards healing, but Crusader to make him more combat focused, and Iron Priest to heal myself since that will be my biggest headache. Hope to be selected and test what a mythic Construct could be capable of. If I missed anything DM please let me know so that I can correct it.

I'll go ahead and withdraw from recruitment. I just replaced my modem to fix my internet issues, and then my router went bad. So My access is very limited right now.

@Gm Ascension: I'm just fixing the bugs of my Svirfneblin Ninja/Zen Archer.

Also how does favoured class come in play with gestalt?

Forgot to mention what my path would be. I'm gonna go ahead and dual path Guardian/Heirophant. Just to offer alittle more aid in healing and cover more of a tanky build. I would have normally done champion but I see quite a few already xD So I think I'll build my Construct to be the groups tank and agro and let his Swashbuckler class cover for his damage. Should work great!

Alright, Taejin's done! Feedback is welcome, but I know that this is going to be irritating until I get to level 3. I can probably coast on flanking for sneak attacks and jabbing style hits until I actually get DEX to damage. I'm hoping that the constant hits to my opponent's dexterity will make up for the lackluster damage until then.

I'm going to be going down the path of the Champion, because with teleportation out I want this guy to move fast enough that it seems like he's teleporting to the untrained eye. It seems really impressive and there won't be wizards and monks going "but I can actually teleport" every time I basically Shunpo behind somebody. Moving 100ft as a swift action, granted provoking all manner of opportunity attacks along the way, seems like it'll be a blast to write.
