Unlike many of his unluckier kin, Ytriel was born into an accepting community of half-elves, and didn't grow up as either an outcast or an enigma. In fact, his early years were entirely uninteresting. He made friends, learned much, and spent his free time running through the jungle with his peers.
As he matured, Ytriel developed a healthy respect for the jungle. He began spending more time in the undergrowth than he did with the others his age or with his family, until eventually he didn't come home one night, opting instead to meditate among the trees. When he returned the next day, he found his village rushing to put together a search party-- few who stayed overnight in the jungle returned to tell the tale.
As time wore on, Ytriel spent more and more time away from the village, often bringing home strange flora with him when he did return. On one such occasion, he brought home Flek, a carnivorous flower he'd found and tamed over the course of a tenuous week. With Flek making some villagers uncomfortable, Ytriel decided to move permanently move into the jungle, unwilling to part with his new friend. To the great shock of the village, he quietly gathered his few possessions, bid all farewell, and walked into the undergrowth.
After a period of time- Ytriel had never been one for counting days- he came upon a Druid's Circle deep in the jungle, in a clearing he'd never seen before. He was welcomed in immediately.

When his circle heard of the call for adventurers in Gumlat, Ytriel was offered the chance to leave the circle for a time and test himself. He has little need of gold himself, but knows the circle could benefit greatly, and is committed to helping as much as he can.
