Hmm, interesting. I'll have to think about this one.

So... What's the story behind/around this game? It doesn't really sound like there is one, somehow.

Olaf the Holy wrote:

There isn't much of one. As mentioned its going to be light on role-playing, and more focused on combat.

Which isn't to say there will be no role-playing, I just don't have a grand overarching plot of secrets to discover, bad guy to stop from taking over the world, or gods to put back in their proper place.

I was actually fishing for an introduction. Why are we fighting whatever it is? How'd we end up in this situation, and what sort of situation is it in the first place?

I've a hard time writing fluff in a vacuum, sorry. Having a little something helps get the ball rolling.

Oooh, me likey the sound of this :) Dot

OK, have an idea for a human fighter/kineticist. I assume we're on Golarion, He'll be a former member of the Pathfinder Society.

Will work up a touch more background than that.

Liberty's Edge

Hello! I'm intrigued by the idea of a Gestalt Mythic campaign, so I'd like to throw my hat into the ring. I'll come up with something fun and interesting and post it soon.

GM-

Are there any class mash ups you are 100% against for the Gestalt? Zen Archer Monk - Fighter, Illusion Mage / Roge, Fighter Druid, etc. ?

If not, then based on the simple concept and the chance to roll slay mythic beasts, I'm in! XD

Scarab Sages

Yeah I will throw my hat in the ring, gotta figure out what some of the things your talking about mean

Whats automatic bonus

I will make something for this.

@Darth Signus

Automatic Bonus Progression

Gotcha. Let me give you the opening scene for the first area. That may spark some ideas for you.

The message came from Gumlat. A plea for help against marauding goblins. A small village, if one could even call it that, lying at the east end of a large expanse of forest, and nestled in the foothills of the Chaggath Spine mountains.

The residents of Gumlat carved themselves a nook within the forest from which to farm and hunt and worship Erastil away from the city of Coran to the east.

Mercenaries and would be adventurers have flocked to the call for help. Not because many actually care about this speck of nothing at the edge of civilization, but rather because of the size of the promised reward for the group that eliminated the goblin threat and returned whatever may be left of the livestock that have been taken - 3000 gold coins.

Several dozen rough and rowdy characters now loaf about the town and surrounding area, seeking riches, fame, glory, or for those more sensitive to it, power. For there is a feeling of power, a lingering aura of it where the goblins raided.

No restrictions in this regard, other than the normal rules restrictions - no rogue/ninja, or double classing into alternate archetypes.

Its not Golarion, but assume it is for purposes of overall lore and gods.

Automatic Progression Bonus. Basically it eliminates the need (or even the option) to buy the big six magic items. Magic armor, weapons, belt/headband of stats, ring of protection, cloak of protection, necklace of natural armor.

So far looking at Monk / Fighter GM, looking at Chaotic Evil or Neutral but really that's for the sake of roleplay for in the moment things during combat xD

Probably have a post up tomorrow or so for you!

Soo... what about a Lashunta Alchemist/Slayer who's something of an engineer and all about the proper application of force. Sounds good? :)

Or maybe Lashunta Alchamist/Rogue, hrrrm.

If it is not Golarion, that would eliminate the Pathfinder Society, which would kill both one of my traits and my amusing origin idea.

Any way around that?

Peanuts: Sounds good.

drbuzzard: What is the trait. We can look at either refluffing it, or, I see no reason the society couldn't be expanding to other planes of existence.

Defender of the Society

The idea for the character is that he joined the Pathfinder Society to take up a life of exploration and adventure and because he exceeds the character generation limits (gestalt and too much point buy), he got kicked out for being too good. This would be expressed in character terms rather than metagame, but it would be poking fun at the 4th wall.

GM-

you gave us QUITE a bit of cash, and I've got almost 200 left over, so-

I'm assuming we can buy potions of certain spells etc. at full price for our inventory, and that the max spell level = character level, i.e. I couldn't buy anything a level 2 wizard / druid / sorcerer / alchemist etc. couldn't make?

As tempting as it is to buy a combat trained lion, I'm betting something along those lines will work better instead for me ^_^

Figured I'd ask just in case, instead of going ahead on giving my monk a boatload of bull's strength and cat's grace potions xD

1 person marked this as a favorite.

uhhh, we start with 500gp don't we? That's enough for a single 2nd level potion...

Are prestige classes allowed? I would like to go Rage Prophet on one side.

Peanuts wrote:

If you are specifically talking about Cat's Grace that I was joking about, sure-

But that can also be 10 Cure Light Wounds, Shield, Ice Armor, etc. -
I could stack a Shield + Owl's Wisdom for extreme scenarios as well, putting my AC naked up to 25.

Still helpful and can make a huge difference. And 6 is better than 1 Combat Trained Lion xD

IF not, current inventory is made without any of that on there gm xD

drbuzzard: go for it. Maybe you got banished to another plane for being to good? :)

Wild Poe: Yes you can buy potions/scrolls, and you aren't limited to 1st level spells in these if you want to spend the cash for a 2nd level potion/scroll.

Oyzar: Prestige classes are allowed. At the time you gain the prestige class it would take one side or the other of the gestalt.

Looks good Wild Poe. If I could ask you do one thing on your sheet. Denote the skill ranks you have in each skill, something like Acro: +9 (2), .... just makes it easier to audit the characters if I can add those ranks up without having to sort out how many ranks were need by reverse operations on the final result.

Not a problem! I'll do that now, and re-work my inventory a little bit (since monk's outfit falls under the "10 gp or less outfit" classes come with for free xD xD xD)

Tell me is the Svirfneblin allowed?

Teiidae wrote:

It's a very strong race, but yes. (Just remember SR will block allied spells as well as enemy ones save those you cast yourself).

Yeah that spell resistance is a harsh mistress, but I may manage.

OK, got the build done.

Lucius Coriarum:

Lucius is the son of a prosperous tanner from the city of Ridonport in Taldor. While he was generally lacking for nothing, and even enjoyed a fairly good education, Lucius could not abide the odor involved in the tanning business. The first opportunity he found, he hopped on a ship heading to Absalom in hope of joining the Pathfinder Society.

Deemed a very promising trainee, Lucius was trained by the society in the fighting arts. He was sent on several training missions to get blooded and gauge his ability in real mission settings. There a problem emerged Lucius was both to physically able, and manifested powers he was not supposed to have as a basic swordsman. He certainly succeeded well well enough, but his strange degree of over performance upset the Decemvirate so they kicked him through a planar portal to an alternate material plane as he just didn't fit into Golarion norms.

Finding himself in a new world, Lucius is a bit ticked off. Damned Devemvirate stabbed him in the back for being too good. Usually they just fed the incompetent into meat grinders.

Well, he had to adapt, so he looked around for ways to use his abilities and training to make a living, and that looked like adventuring (or assassin, but that's not really suitable for his disposition).

Lucius is a live and let live sort of fellow (though he wouldn't mind finding his way back to Golarion and having worlds with the Decemvirate). He really would like to have a comfortable life that didn't reek of an outhouse.

He's well build, of slightly above average height with black hair and a slight olive cast to his skin.

I've an idea for a type of Drow Backline Ranged type of Character, if you allow it. I may be running my own game tonight, so I'll have to work on it after that, aside from what I can do now. First I'll have to see what I want to do with the ranged, then figure out how to supplement it to something more useful/synergistic with the Gestalt. Thinking of something mixed with Monk (as I feel the Monk provides good utility/synergy with the ranged aspect, giving my characters more options in combat, and just being more fun to play in general.) I'll let you know.

Possibly a Noble Drow, but I won't push my luck too far. Of course, there are plenty of other options I could go with for a character. That's just the one that pulled my interest first. Let me know what you think.

Such as a caster type who focuses on summoning outsiders to fight for them, possibly using them while the caster sits back and flings spells. So many fun possibilities.

Drow is allowed. Drow noble is not.

drbuzzard: Looks good. Can you include your mythic path you will be taking? Can you also designate the ranks you've allocated in each skill? And, not required, but is there any particular creature type you'd like to fight at some point?

I would likely be going champion.

Acrobatics and heal are at 1 rank, the rest are at 2.

Hmm, creature? I usually like fighting outsiders because they tend to be interesting (evil is what I'm used to).

I'll dot this and make something for it.

I'm planning on going probably Hunter/Fighter and doing like a lizardfolk dinosaur rider. I thought maybe doing Cavalier but I feel Hunter will cover that a bit better and come in riding a triceratops. Before I actually go through with that though, what are rules/opinions/regulations on animal companions?

I've been doing some more looking at a kind of Demonic Summoner kind of character, and I like that as well. I suppose I can come up with one for the Ranged and one for the Caster and should you want, you could choose which one you like better for the game (assuming you choose either)

Definitely interested, especially because it's starting at such a low level.

Want to submit a Kineticsist, along with some full-BAB class. Not sure what just yet, or even what race to go with.
Started work!

I'm interested. Not sure yet if I will have the time to pull an application together, but I am considering an Investigator(Empiricist)/Magus (Black Blade). The aim is to use spells to get in position, then deliver a devastating strike. Lots of out-of-combat utility, including trapfinding and Disable Device(I like your thinking on how that should be done. I've always advocated that's how it should work).

Lyra's Story:
Kaswor’s Journal

One night, while I was travelling along a caravan route in the River Kingdoms, the night swiftly approached and I found myself standing at a crossroads. At first I thought I was alone but a campfire was already burning brightly as I rounded the corner of a hill. At this campfire was a cloaked and hooded figure, their camp already setup with tent and a roasting spit that held several rabbits on its ends. Obviously this was a person of long campaigning who had grown accustomed to living in the wilds of this world. With a deep breath I stepped up to this person with a hand on my sword hilt. At first the stranger didn’t seem to notice me at all. Merely staring into the fire pit, this person was obviously deep in thought over some matter that deeply troubled him (her?).

However, without any indication that the person had noticed me at all, an oddly shaped sword was pointed in my direction in the blink of an eye. The sword curved to a bulge three-fourths of the way up blade before quickly diving back into a sharp point at the end. Along the flat of the blade I could barely make out the shape of leaf veins against the flickering light of the camp fire.

“State your intentions Sir, friend or foe?”

The voice that emanated from that hood was steady, with a soft lilting accent to it that indicated knowledge in the Elven languages, and most distinctly feminine.

Keeping my hands on my sword hilt I responded with the same weary tone, “I am neither, merely a travelling bard of these lands. I would very much like the warmth of a good fire this night. I have my own rations and will not strain your hospitality, should you give it.”

The woman nodded her head and set the strange sword down, “A bard huh? You may sit, and spare your rations, there is rabbit enough here for two.”

Letting go of my sword, I sat myself down on a cold soft patch of dirt near the fire and pulled out my notebook, “Perhaps you would like to tell me your story? That sword you carry is passing strange, surely there is a story behind it?”

The woman pulled back her hood, revealing a cascade of light blonde hair braided down to her shoulders in the back and two smaller braids framing her face. Her eyes were a dark blue without iris that caught the flickering glow of the fire. A long jagged scar ran up her left cheek, connecting to a bundle of scar tissue at the temple of her eye. The scar stretched as she smiled at me, it was slightly unsettling to see such an otherwise beautiful woman with such a deformity, but it did not detract from her appearance too greatly. Her shoulders and arms were well corded with muscle and she had the build of a woman martially trained.

“You want to hear a story huh? One about my sword?” and she laughed as she picked up the sword again, holding it in her lap, “I guess I can tell a story. Cayosin di isk bilaes, Mitne Suaco; that is the inscription I found on this sword when my father gave me his last Will and Testament. Along with his journal, telling the story of his younger years. About finding a place rumored to be wondrous and filled with treasure. But make no mistake, it was not a place of peace and love, he said it’s an endless maze of twisting corridors and damp caves, that it was dangerous. That only a fool would search for something of value there. There is a legend that my father wrote down in his journal. A legend of great power in the caves of the dungeon.”

Here the woman paused for a moment as she picked turned the rabbits on the spit.

“The journal explained much to me. My father would always go on about it, even in his sleep. Amazing magical artifacts, infinite wealth, fame, power, and women. So you can understand why some little child who hears the stories would grow up wishing to see this place. Well, I have been travelling towards there these past few months. And I am nearly there. I can feel the place calling to me. This sword wishes to return to its home, and I will take it there and learn why it exists and if the legend is true.”

I found myself enthralled by this woman’s tale, so much so that I had forgotten to write it down as I was hearing it.

“That is quite the tale Miss. I do hope it ends well for you. Are the rabbits done? Listening to your story has worked up quite an appetite for me.”

The woman laughed again as she pulled the rabbits off the spit, handing me one of the cooked meats to begin eating, “Yes they are done. Perhaps you would join me in heading down there? I am sure there are many tales that would interest a man such as you.”

Shaking my head, I responded, “I am afraid not, my road takes me on other paths. The dark caverns of the world are not for me to record. But I would dearly love to hear of your adventures in this Cave of Legends if we should ever meet again.”

After a short time eating and conversing on other matters the woman stood up and moved towards her tent, weariness was writ large on her features as she turned with one last look at me.

“If you should be gone before I wake up tomorrow, then I bid you well wishes and a long life.”

As it turned out, she woke before I, and was gone long before morning light rose.

Kiradia: I have no objection to the extra length in the background. It simply wasn't a requirement for this game for the application. I enjoyed the read. Any particular creature type you'd like to encounter somewhere along your adventures?

Would I be able to go with a Mythweavers sheet and then link that here, or would you prefer I list it all out here in a post? I think I'll be going with Zen Archer/Inquisitor of some sort. Probably going to be an Oread.

Eventually, I would go from Inquisitor to Arcane Archer. I'll take a look at Mythic stuff in a bit.

Entries so far - let me know if I somehow missed you, or have your info wrong.

The first three have submitted characters (feel free to make changes/tweaks up until submission close date on the 3rd).

I'm trying to think of a fun gestalt to play, but I seem to be out of ideas... let's see if my brains start working again after soaking all the alcohol from the weekend :P

Think of it as marinating.

Dotting - thinking of a barbarian/cleric

Liberty's Edge

Hhhmmm... a monster... well, since outsiders and dragons have already been named. I'm gonna say Kaiju, I know they are very high level which we might not get to, but they seem like very fun fights for mythic.
