Here is the pitch so to speak.
The whispering way has been growing in power lately. Several raids have happened and the three lesser seals to the Whispering Tyrants prison are broken. The great seal still remains however but the leaders of Lastwall, Taldor and the dwarves of Kraggodan believe (rightly so) that the whispering way is going to try and destroy it to release Tar-Baphon upon the world once more.
A team is being assemble to go to Gallowspire and to ensure that the Great Seal is not broken.
The task will not be easy. To get to Gallowspire one must traverse the Desolation lands. The location were the Tyrant killed Arazni and the site of a massive battle between the undead armies of the whispering tyrant and the shining crusade.
The desolation lands is a vast area seethe in necromantic energies were undead roam.
Not only that but wounds do not heal naturally here, and healing spells are only half as effective. Food doesn't perish, and bodies do not decompose, Dimensional travel is impossible, summons spells cannot be used. If you consecrate an area natural healing works in that area and healing spell work normally. Negative energy spells are twice as effective and necromancy spells are cast at +2 caster level.
One you have crossed the Desolation lands you will reach the city of Adorak which you must cross to reach Gallowspire.
The city's undead nobility were hunted down and destroyed, and the Great Seal was put in place to ensure Tar-Baphon's imprisonment within Gallowspire. Despite these efforts, the city was unlivable by this point and was swiftly abandoned by all living creatures. Even so, the ruins remain home to horrific undead creatures, although they tend to avoid the haunted presence of Gallowspire, almost as though they fear to go there.
What resides in Gallowspire now nobody knows as none living has reached that place in nearly 600 years.
Not gonna lie I made this campaign to be a merciless meat grinder (Think Tomb of Horrors or Temple of Elemental evil) if you want to test you mettle it starts at level 10. 28 point buy and 62 000 starting gold (cannot spend more that 50% on one item)
A few spots are already taken given to players in another of my games need a few more to fill it up.

I'll update this alias for this game. Straightforward Cleric necromancer. She's LE but works well with a team.
Main issue is that she's going to have a lot of pets- is that okay with you, DM?
If we can swing a way to get PCs healed by negative energy (dhampirs, wayangs, some oracle and cleric features, there's probably more) we could get around the half-healing environmental effect. No pressure, just something we might want to give some thought.
Given that this is a game where the DM wants to kill us ("merciless meat grinder"), I think I'll ready a backup character, too. ;)

Hmm. Not sure a LE character and any Paladin will get along. We have a player who has mentioned wanting to play a paladin. I guess we will see. :) Maybe the situation requires him/her to come with us.
Depends. I don't want to get into a whole 'paladins think THIS' thread here, but there shouldn't really be that much difference between a LG Paladin getting along with a LE Cleric than there is between that Pally tolerating a CG Ranger or a TN Monk.
Unless the paladin's code is actively anti-undead raising, there won't be much in Harika's behavior to make a Paladin want to censure her. Harika won't want to help refugees or save damsels in distress without something in it for her, but she's not going to stab the bartender for looking at her funny or kidnap children to bathe in their blood or anything.

The usual suspect spells for creating undead are [Evil] and casting [Evil] spells is supposed to shift a PC's alignment toward the E end of the spectrum. I can't imagine a caster who's been casting [Evil] spells for 10 levels isn't already Evil.
Personally, I think alignment as a game mechanic is silly and tend to ignore it in favor of good characterization in my games, but it does exist and I can't ignore it when I'm not the DM.

The Paladin that I think will join will be an undead scourge. I have not read the rules of that archetype in a while but I suspect issues :)
My wizard is coming along. So many options. I usually go Teleportation subschool but with the background info we have that sounds wasted. With undead not effected by many save or suck spells I am thinking about trying a blaster/controller build. Thoughts?

So let's discuss a way to have both characters rather than developing in a vacuum. This alias's background and personality are both on her page, subject to reconfiguration for this campaign; who's doing the Paladin? How can we get them to work together?
Oh, duh, it was Varn. Right. I'll PM him and see what we can work out.

Actually, there's a BIG difference in a CG Ranger and/or TN Monk and that's this...
Now, we could easily state that this would be a situation in which we seek to defeat a great evil without a doubt. One thing to consider, though, is why would your necromancer be seeking to keep Tar Baphon imprisoned as opposed to setting him free? This will likely be something that is brought up by anyone that has an anti-undead stance.
As long as the GM is okay with us interacting together without seeking to make my paladin fall, I'm all about it having unique character interactions. Depending on the make up of the party, I've thought about making him a Moroi-born dhampir so that if the party wants to go the whole Negative energy route, we can do so without a problem. Plus the idea of a dhampir paladin of Iomadae just tickles me pink!
If it looks to be a huge issue, I have no problem about bringing something different to the table as well. I also have a Pyrokineticist in mind that would do very well here.

This isn't too hard. She could be a Gebbite checking to make sure the big guy isn't waking up. Just because Geb is undead-friendly doesn't necessarily mean they want a wave of undead coming out of Ustalav. That kind of thing could start a new Crusade. Even if she's a follower of the Whispering Way, Geb probably doesn't like the idea of Tar Baphon waking back up and cribbing his 'undead king of the world' schtick. It's not like TB is the WW's god, he's just it's most famous adherent.
Honestly, Geb (the country) could be a good fit for her in that while it is Evil (ex.- breeds people as livestock to feed to sentient undead), it seems to be a good neighbor to other countries. 'Be Evil but play nice with others' is a good culture for her to come from.

After due consideration... I have decided to scrap that paladin idea as I've done the whole "holy warrior"-schtick before when facing off against the world BBEG. I'm going to go with my pyrokineticist option. I think it'll be so much more enjoyable to incinerate the undead as opposed to whacking at them with a sword. Plus, this will be the perfect opportunity to see what a solidly-built high level pyro can really do!
Race will tentatively be human unless I find something else that I just really, really want to play instead.

Alright, I'll give it a shot.
So the idea is to make a TWF starknife wielding warpriest, using the Divine fighting technique to sub Cha for attacks and damage. I aim to make switch hitter that can provide some back up in melee and support the party.
The warpriest, being a Dhamphir never really got along with other people. So traveling came to them naturally, at first they took to Desna as an excuse to leave home but eventually discovered a real passion for the road and the Lady of Dream's tenants. Now they travel the world doing good where ever they can, however due to their ancestry and wanderlust the warpriest never lingers long in one place.
Warned by potent visions of the Whispering Tyrant's return the Warpriest now has offered their services in stopping the threat, feeling uniquely qualified given their ancestry.

Question, if one went down the magus route, would the teleporting blade ability be affected? Also, how open to you for reflavoring of things? Like, instead of the black blade being an actual sword, let it be a semi-quasi weapon I create(in place of draw action)
Only ask this as I had another idea I started to toy with alongside the alchemist.
