I think I'll roll up a summoner- I've had an idea for one kicking around the back of my head for a while now. Should solve the arcane casting problem and even the in combat healing problem; if I put my half-elven skill focus in UMD I should be able to hit a DC 20 pretty consistently.

I haven't created a mythweavers character sheet yet, I'll do that later today or tomorrow. I figured I'd put my audition up anyway.
Semsephiel Godscourge was once feared across the planes. He'd traded blows with archfiends and demon lords. He'd created pocket realities on a whim, he'd commanded a vast legion encamped across the infinite planes. A thousand worlds he once had ruled.
This morning he'd gotten in a drunken brawl. And come out substantially the loser.
Almost three kilometers from his summoner, Evalee Ribbinz, he'd been fighting at a fraction of his usual shade of his former strength. Or rather, a fraction of his stamina. At the edge of his range his bones cracked like plaster and his skin split like someone with really thin skin. (For lack of a better metaphor.)
Now the one time duke of hell limped as he walked down the street, shoulders hunched and head bowed, threadbare cloak and hood drawn tight around him. He was trying to blend in- with limited success. His abnormal height (2.3 meters) and nightmarishly gaunt form were hard to hide. He wiped tar black ichor from his face, flicking it off his hand into the dusty street. It all came off in one solidified piece. If he were smarter, he'd be wearing baggier clothing. It would hide his bone-thin pseudo-body. But Semsephiel was not particularly smart. As an eidolon, his attributes were constrained by the skill of his summoner. An unimaginable age of experience, spells that could shake the foundations of hell, locked away in some untapped portion of his mind.
But he had more pressing concerns than exposition. That very afternoon he'd lost the third menial job he'd held this month - fired for instigating a fight. Well, that was the official reason. In reality he was fired for bleeding tar black blood.
How am I going to explain it to Ev?
He didn't need to eat- but his summoner did. And she was too young to hold a job of her own . . . the spells that bound him to this plane required that he obey Evalee Ribbinz, and his Geas required that he act in her best interest.
More than that though, Semsephiel disliked disappointing his superiors. Ev hadn't ever ripped off his limbs or frozen him in ice, but somehow he dreaded her optimism and platitudes more than infernal torture.
Ribbinz, you old bastard . . . how dare you die and leave me to raise your kid? I'm a fiend, not a father. How am I supposed to know what to do?
I'm not smart enough to think my way out of this.
Now I'll write one from Evalee's perspective.

I like what you have so far, but don't forget that the "audition" needs to actually include your character auditioning to join the carnival.

"Hey Sephy, wanna join a circus?"
The demon (devil, daemon, demonodand, Evalee's always thought that demon just rolls off the tongue better, and anyway, who wants to keep a gazillion names for outsider(evil) straight?) The demon slumped against the wall of the tiny apartment his slim budget could afford could afford, keeping his weight off his injured leg - a fact that went completely over Ev's head. At length he gave the tired reply, "Circus, Ms. Ribbinz?"
"I think you'd make a hella scary clown,"
"Undoubtedly. But does that qualify one for the position?"
"Think so. Is that a yes?"
"No."
"But come ooooooooon. It'll be fun. See new sights, meet new people. Rip their faces off. Maybe. Probably. It'll be an adventure! Don't you want to go on an adventure?"
The demon stared down at her, unconsciously menacing as ever. Evalee couldn't read his face - but then, she wasn't particularly adept at the art of reading faces. Still, his prolonged silence unnerved her.
"You all right?"
"It's chore enough to protect you while you are more or less stationary, Ms. Ribbinz. I fear that following you around the continent would tax even my exceptional abilities. Besides. What act do you intend to perform, at this circus? You aren't a trained performer."
"I was thinking that I could put on a magic show!"
"Magic? Sephy seemed more than a little skeptical of the idea. "What do you know of stagecraft or legerdemain?"
"I can cast spells, Sephy."
"Oh . . . that kind of magic." There's a pause. The two look at each other. "Very well then. I assume you have a traveling circus in mind?"
"Oh." Ev hadn't actually thought that he'd agree. "Oh. OH. Alright. Alright. Alriiiiiight. The Sirensong Traveling Carnival. They're doing auditions tonight."
"Tonight? You'd best pack your belongings. I don't know that we will be returning here."
"Isn't that kind of abrupt?" Surreal would be a better word for it. Sephy never does anything without thinking it through first. It seems . . . almost as if he'd already decided. I sure as hell didn't convince him.
Is there something I don't know? Put it to the test.
"Actually, I was just kidding around. I don't really want to join a circus. If he insists then I can be veritably certain that-
"Are you sure? I think that a change of pace would do you good. It can't be healthy to sit around in the dark all day. Humans should socialize with each other, otherwise you contract all manner of disorders."
"I have books to read. The people in them are better conversation than the people I've met." But more than that, you could insist that I join a club, or a society, or something. Why would a traveling carnival be your first choice?
Ichor on the floor. Tar-black and sticky. A limp. "Are you running from something?"
"Pack your things, Ms. Ribbinz. We wouldn't want to miss auditions."
"NEXT!"
"Hi, I'm Evalee Baker," introduced the platinum blond kid in ceremonial robes far too large for her (But at 150 centimeters, it's hard to find wizardly clothes that fit.), "And today I'll be summoning a demon for your entertainment."
There are mutters in the crowd. The general air is one of skepticism.
With great flourish the child draws an intricate chalk circle on the ground. "This ritual is not for the faint of heart," the summoner warns. "But know this: as long as I am here with you, you will come to no harm."
Perform (Oratory: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
The audience is not convinced that any such demon will appear. Which is why they're surprised when, after a flashy one-minute ritual, a demon appears in the circle. Or, a devil actually.
Without his ratty coat Semsephiel strikes an imposing figure. Supernaturally tall and thin, with eyes that issue flame and fingers that taper into long talons, an infernal rune that glows on his bald forehead. "Mortal," he booms, "You dare summon me, Semsephiel the Godscourge? You will die most painfully."
(This proclamation likely breaks the suspension of disbelief for any members of the audience who are know much or anything about devils- there's now way that someone just summoned Semsephiel into the big top.)
"Break my circle if you can, fiend!"
Semsephiel makes a show out of pacing the perimeter of the circle, then he makes another pass crouched low, probing at the chalk with his fingers.
"Your circle is strong, young summoner."
"Glad to hear it." The summoner pauses a moment, to take a breath. She turns to the audience. "Now give me all your money or I'm going to smudge the circle!"
Bluff: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
Members of the audience gasp.
"What?!" The bound demon exclaims. "That wasn't on the script. If you can't take this seriously, I'm leaving." And he walks out of the circle and off stage.
Sephy is going to aid another Aid Another: 1d20 ⇒ 20 Ev's Perform(Comedy) Perform (comedy): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
For a total of 18.

------------------------------------------------------------
Pogug heard the yell of "NEXT!" and recognized it as the shout they did before everyone came up. So he did, bumbling in front of the audience with a fiddle in hand.
Pogug did notice that everyone liked to give a short introduction, and Pogug did like talking about himself. So he decided to do that too.
"I is Pogug! I come from tribe of goblin, then orc, and a little bit of human!" He grinned, baring his teeth. "I play Vween-maker! It make good sound, but sometimes too scratchy. But I do it best! No scratches!"
With that, he placeed his bow upon the strings, gliding it across. A musical hum built from them, before ceasing. Always test the tone, Pogug recalled his teacher saying, Before you play. Though Pogug didn't know what "tone" meant, he decided to do what his teacher always did before he played.
Pogug stopped for a moment, giving a brief pause. Then, in an instant, his bow danced across the fiddle, give jumpy, quick yet beautiful notes that would have been shocking on a street performer, much less a goblin. It was catchy tune, and rose in tension and volume as Pogug continued.
Fiddle-Dee and Fiddle-Doo: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23
Pogug played for a small time, around half a minute, when he became quite bored. The tune was boring human song. So he decided to transition into a tune he had practiced in the forest, which he recalled from the orcs. Of course, he had changed the lyrics a bit.
"In fierce flame or ocean blue,
May your fortune be kind to you,
And if an attack may have you slain,
And all your efforts been in vain,
May you remember in your rest
Pogug, Pogug, is the best!
His legs swifter than the gods,
His arms akin to metal rods!
So forget any earthly grace,
and focus on Pogug instead."
Perform(Sing): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21
Ending his song with a staccato note, Pogug jumped and gave a cheer, then shuffled offstage.

Seems like a fun character. That Scribe Scroll bonus feat doesn't make much sense for a goblin, though. Feel free to replace it with a spell focus or skill focus of your choice.

1) How important is having a fresh alias for the application process?
I have one (this one!) that I simply edit for my applications just so I don't end up with too many 1-3 post aliases.
2) How important is having an external character sheet?
I usually place mine in the profile to avoid having to bounce around too many sites to make posts. But I get that this might be a preference thing - or maybe mythweavers have some nice feature that let's the GM get a quick overview (or simply make it easier to double-check builds!).
Anyhow I thought I might just ask, worst case I'll just have to go find my mythweaver login again eh :P

"Interesting group, I guess. Somewhat competent. But they certainly have absolutely NO class at all. I mean, a strong man? A frog who can jump? Clearly, we're far, far superior to them. I wonder if we're so superior that we just won't be chosen? Possible. These people look like the sort who wouldn't know quality if it clawed them in the arse. Speaking of which "

Note - characters mostly complete. Need to make some more purchases if chosen
Pavlova and Mekulu stand in line, their forms hidden by cloaks. Pavlova is obviously nervous but seems to be encouraged by Mekulus chittering at her.
When they are called up, they both throw off their cloaks.
Revealed are a beautiful young halfling woman and a small feathered bipedal dinosaur. Both of them are wearing gorgeous flowing clothing that both reveals and conceals them as they move.
"Uh, hello. My name is, uh, Pavlova. And this is my good friend and partner Mekulu. Mekulu, say hello to these nice people"
The dinosaur makes a strange sound that could, conceivably, be hello
"We will be singing the song and dancing the dance to tell a legend told by my people. It is the story of a young princess, a great prince who has been cursed by evil Fae, and how she manages to free him from the curse and restore him to his kingdom. As in all good stories, the two fall in love"
Mekalu is invoking the songbird aspect for +4 to perform
At that, she and Mekulu start to sing. Mekalu's voice is amazingly melodic as he sings a wordless croon acting as a background to Pavlova. Pavlova sings in a beautiful but somewhat tentative voice, describing the lost prince, the princess, the dangers that they fave together.
Mekalu singing: 1d20 + 8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 8 + 4 = 20
Pavlova Singing: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14
After describing the story, they then both start to dance it.
At first, as they are meeting, the dance is a ballet. Mekalu leaps around the stage. Pavlova primarily dances by her self but sometimes Mekalu catches her up and holds her aloft.
Mekalu Dancing: 1d20 + 10 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 10 + 4 = 18
Pavlova Dancing: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13
And then comes the climax of the act. They join together, expressing their love of each other. The dance resembles a tango, a very very erotic tango. Despite the fact that one is a bipedal bird and the other a halfling girl one can almost feel the erotic tension between the couple.
For this finale, Pavlova goes all out, obviously completely losing herself in the dance.
She both invokes the songbird aspect in herslf, she also invokes the inner beauty trait
Mekalu Dancing: 1d20 + 10 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 10 + 4 = 28
Pavlova Dancing: 1d20 + 11 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 11 + 4 + 4 = 24
Almost exhausted, Pavlova nearly collapses, held up by Mekalu.
"And then, the two lived happily ever afterwards. Thank you"

This sounds like fun. Looks like a good fit for a character of mine. I have two problems though. I don't have a myth-weavers account and really don't want to make one. Hope that isn't a hard requirement.
And a 6? With no help from racial bonus? Isn't that a little low? 8 or 7 is the lowest O've ever been willing to go. I don't usually make characters with such an extreme flaw. I usually go for balance and breadth of experience then extreme focus.
2d6 + 4 ⇒ (1, 2) + 4 = 7

I use mythweavers for all of my characters, including the NPCs for this game. I prefer to have sheets that match for player characters as well. I've already made one exception for a character using hero lab, which has a pretty good stat block output. Most other statblock outputs, including the one on mythweavers, are not very good, and I don't like the PDF sheets that hero lab produces. What I'm really trying to avoid is having every character have their sheet in a different format, be it a bad formfill PDF somewhere or random, unformatted scribblings on their profile page.

Sure is. Like I said up front, I'm looking for characters with clear strengths and weaknesses, and players who will roleplay both. I totally understand that some players like to play characters with 12s and 13s for all of their stats, but I find that boring. There are plenty of other games where the GM won't bat an eye at that, but I'm looking for something different in my game.

Hmm. Mechanically, it sounds like you want to build a buffer, maybe with some battlefield control? Bard is an obvious choice for a buffer, but they can't really hide very well while they do it.
You should be able to build any of the full caster classes as a buffer, and given the lack of healers so far, it would be useful for you to have some of that as well. Oracle and witch come to mind as good options that might be more thematic than the core classes. If you choose witch or another class with a familiar, the valet archetype might be really useful.
If you want to be even more behind-the-scenes, occult classes are probably the best for stealthy casting, since psychic spells don't have vocal or somatic components.

I usually go for the same layout as the bestiaries which, granted, can be a bit vague in what-comes-from-where. But uh that's really pretty close to the last one so I'll just go dig out my mythweavers stuff.
@From-the-shadows - Occult classes might work. Both the Mesmerist and the Occultist have some nice options. Some of the tricks of the former could be quite entertaining even!

I suppose I should attempt one of the Occult classes. I haven't built a character with them yet, but the idea I had featured a lot more, for lack of a better word, "Practical" effects, rather than magical.
I suppose a different character could be built to fill in party role of support caster, which I do enjoy mechanically, but I can't really think of one besides "Generic Sideshow Freak" which seems pretty generic.
A silly idea would be a pickled punk turned into a 10 RP race (0 movement (-3), Half-Undead (5), tiny (4), Telepathy (?)), ala 3717, but that might be a bit much to stomach. As a Psychic caster, though, it's an option, though I'll be required to be carried around.

Hmm, good questions. Summoner is a pretty powerful class already, even the unchained version, so I'm reluctant to do anything to further imbalance the class. On the other hand, I really like where you're going with the roleplay there, and I think that background skills and traits/drawbacks will enhance that, so here's what I'll do. If you give Semsephiel a drawback, you can also give him a trait OR background skills, but not both. Sound good?

Zarine steeled her nerves and walked up on stage as her name was called. She really, really wanted this job, but she couldn't let it interfere with her performance. How bad can it be, really? The worst I can do is fail.
Luckily, once she was in front of the lights, everything fell into place, like always. She felt like a different person, and she knew she could do anything, and be anything here, and it was okay. She advanced to the ladder in her long-sleeved, full-length black leotard which showed no skin between neck and ankle, but still complemented her figure. Her raven hair streamed behind her as she scrambled up the ladder with a very small, light backpack on her back.
When she got to the top, just to show them what she could do she did a couple of flips from one swinging platform to another... the basics, showing that she was competent on the trapeze.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20
Then she cast prestidigitation on her clothing, changing the colors to bright clown colors. She moved to the high wire, doing a flip and then feather falling spell from one to the other, first pretending to panic, and then waving at the audience as she fell. acting surprised when she ran into the wire on the way down. Then she jumps on it a little, starting on way, and then back another. Doing a cartwheel and still somehow being in the middle of the wire.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30
She shrugs at the audience, acting really confused, and takes off her backpack, pretending to almost fall several times as she struggles with it. She digs through it, throwing out flowers and light bouncy things that the audience could catch, and several short pieces of wood that are suddenly clearly torches when Zarine pretends to have a sword fight with herself, and somehow a spark spell falls onto the fallen wood, setting it on fire. Zarine doesn't seem to notice this, and finally finds what it appears that she has been looking for. A rope.
She tries to tie the rope to the tightrope, but it keeps coming undone, and she gets frustrated and puts her hands on her hips. Then, she touches her forehead in the universal sign of "I have an idea," and she reaches out her hand and suddenly a flute appears in her hand.
She plays the flute
Perform: Flute: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
And a horrible screechy note comes out. The audience can *tell* it is screechy because it is VISIBLE This is the spell Solid Note and it stays in place, there next to her. She covers her mouth in shock, backing away, but then looks curious and goes back. She touches it. She pushes it. It doesn't move (though she does, making the tightrope sway and almost falling again, with the fire below).
She has another aha moment and ties the rope to the note, and proceeds to climb down the rope, right into the fire. She dances there, awkwardly, jumping out of the fire. The she looks at her feet, and they aren't burned. She gets a huge grin on her face and jumps back in and over it a few times, and then falls when she is trying to jump, and as she is falling suddenly gallons of water appear over her head drenching her, and putting the fire out Create Water spell. She looks confused up at the sky and turns around to dig in her backpack again casts cure light at this point in case her feet are blistered and finally finds her umbrella, and starts walking off the stage, but pauses, and bows to the audience, and as she does, she disappears. Vanish spell
While she is invisible she returns to her seat, reappearing there soon after.
I'm totaling up my equipment now, and that is the last thing I had to do, so everything should be complete by the time you look at it.
I do not have a Mythweaver's sheet up. I know you told a couple of other people that it wasn't absolutely necessary, so I'd like you to look at my alias and see if it is good enough to stand alone. I like to think that I make very clear and complete profiles. However, if you look at it and still want the Mythweaver's sheet, I will do that in the morning. I don't mind having it, but it would be easier for me to only have to maintain the character in one place. I always build my characters using the online Mottokrosh sheets, but I typically only update them afterward in the alias itself. Anyway, your call.

I'll take a closer look at that later. For now, it looks fine, and you are on the list to be considered.

As I said, I have an all-day event tomorrow, so I won't make my decision until late tomorrow or sometime the next day. If I didn't list you and you think I should have, or if you're just running late on your submission, I'll give you until then, but since I don't know exactly when I'll get around to it, the sooner the better.
I also have something that I'm considering, if the group would be amenable. In addition to these regular "auditions", I had planned some additional tasks that the characters must complete before being allowed to join the carnival. For my in-person group, I may have to manipulate these tasks to ensure that the players (eventually) succeed, but since I have a much larger group here, I was considering picking a larger number (probably 6-8, enough for two teams) from this group, to make it through the initial audition and go on to a "round two" of selection. Not to spoil too much, but this second round would involve participating in performance combat, and if I decide to do this, the first round will be player-vs.-player (though the real goal would be to impress the "judges", rather than just beating the other team). Based on that, I would then narrow it down to a smaller group, which would proceed as I had originally planned.
I would appreciate it if you could all weigh in and let me know how you would feel about participating in something like that, knowing you might not make the final cut (though it would at least give you a chance to try out the character you built). Please use your character alias when posting your response, so that I can tell who is who.

Because it isn't a traveling carnival if there isn't a bloodsport . . . "Ms. Ribbinz, I fail to see how fighting this . . . McClod character is in your best interest at all. As your legal guardian, I would highly advise not brawling with the human mountain."
"C'mon Sephy. It's not like it's a real fight anyways, whole thing's staged. I'm sure they wouldn't let us do it if there was any chance of someone actually getting hurt." That's her six wisdom talking.
In all seriousness though, I'm all for it. Sounds fun :)

I might be making a last minute edit to my character- switching my eidolon to a polearm for better battlefield control. If I did this, I'd be taking the 'push' evolution so that I could use my claws to knock people back into range of the polearm. But I don't know if this would work- am I allowed to use my secondary attacks (claws) before my primary attack (weapon)?
