Reaping Stone Campaign: Under Cassomir

@Innis the large shadow was large but from when you looked up it did not have a definite shape almost like a dark cloud. It was heading in the direction you had just come from.

Continue onwards?

Innis will consult the augury wand to see if there is anything meaningful that can be gleamed from the divination.

She asks "Seeking clues towards the perpetrators of the plague and a cure, what fate awaits us should we turn back and investigate the shadow"

Weal - turn back to the crypt
Woe / nothing - continue forward

Cinder describes what Merelda thinks are a...bat...no a bird...not one...but many like a flock.

Based on how the shadow moved what Cinder is communicating to Merelda could have some merit. But birds in a cavern does seem odd.

Regardless wherever they headed you continue to along the broken brick road. You travel for at least another couple of hours and still find yourself in the fungi forest.

You call a halt to your travel to determine what to do. Not knowing how far this road continues on for you could keep traveling along it. Also you have the option to turn back or to venture off the road.

What do you guys decide to do?

I vote to keep going on the road. It only makes sense that the cultists would use it too. We may be walking into another trap, but I would rather know where we are going and how to get out rather than wander blindly in the dark this deep underground. If we get separated and lost down here...I don't want to even THINK about that. Also the road will probably get us there faster... and we have limited time. That's my humble opinion. I could be wrong.

Innis considers the situation as the team stops for a moment to assess their situation. She calls on Merelda's Dungeoneering expertise and Kirzon's nature-mumbo-jumbo to see if they can derive any clues from thier current situtation.

"Merelda are there any clues as to the origin or purpose of this road having walked it that you might divine?" could it have been a trade route, or since we've seen no branches off from the road that also tells a story meanng it's leading somewhere

"Kirzon, Where in the city might we be considering our travel path and are there any points of interest that we might be heading towards albeit probably below?"

Merelda and Kirzon put their heads together and think it over. With a stubby finger the dwarf picks up a several small rocks and a stick arranging the rocks in two clusters.

With the stick he points to the larger cluster of rocks.

A couple more hours pass but you stick to your resolve and remain upon the half buried road. While none of you discredit Innis' magic you can't help but wonder if turning off the path might have been a better choice.

If it hits, the attack deals the target 1d4 points of force damage per 2 caster levels (max 5d4) and the anchor becomes firmly lodged in the target’s torso. The anchor has no weight, but its wide flukes prevent the target from moving through any space smaller than the creature’s size. The anchor also prevents incorporeal targets from moving through solid objects. Whenever the target moves through a square occupied by another creature, the square counts as 2 squares for the purpose of calculating movement, even if the square’s occupant is the target’s ally.

Force Anchor Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Magic/Force Damage: 2d4 ⇒ (3, 4) = 7

Force Anchor!:
Casting Time 1 standard action; Components V, S, M (a twisted nail); Range medium (100 ft. + 10 ft./level); Duration 1 round/level; Saving Throw none; Spell Resistance yes; DESCRIPTION:
You conjure an anchor of pure force that immediately skewers your target on a successful ranged touch attack.
