"Dead-Eye" Jones |
Jones follows Gundren off the boat. "Greetings Ogookai, name's Jones. I thank you for your hospitality."
Is this still right after the battle, or has it been a few days? If it's right after, Jones could use a CLW. Thanks.
Kuwabara Kasei |
"The incense needed for the ritual. Amara-sama arranged for us to meet with them for this."
Kasei bows formally to the tribe headman, and speaks in Tien, thanking him for the hospitality and assistance of his people.
Amsheagar |
its been half a day.
Duskin Veilsong |
Duskin greets Ogookai, and then signs the others.
I could use some rest... Or curing. I'm not as durable as our more seasoned companions. - he smiles, a little shy.
Amsheagar |
The man nods at Kuwabara, “We have mixed the incense, but I am afraid we cannot give it to you. As soon as we placed the herbs in the crates the Gokan woman left, a terrible storm fell upon us. Many of our horses and goats were scared away by the thunder, and one man was struck by lightning. It is clear—the Sky Spirits are displeased we would give the sacred gifts of the land to outsiders. You may take back the hides the Gokan woman traded us, but you may not take the incense.”
and he laughs as he hears Duskin, "Sure boy. We would love to hold you up for the night."
Saarai Shae |
I'll heal Dead-Eye from my wand, as well as myself (10 hp per charge of infernal healing)
Saarai looks ready to relax and stay for the night.
"We were attacked a ways back...do you know who the attackers were, and why they attack?" Saarai asks.
Kuwabara Kasei |
Kasei is nonplussed. "Do you trade so rarely with others that the kami would object to it? Hmm. Perhaps we can think of a way to appease the kami. Has anyone any experience with such spirits?"
I can take 10 for a 14 on knowledge (religion) or 15 on knowledge(local).

Amsheagar |
The man looks at Saarai, "We are travelers, we don't know the local banditry too much. We only keep them alive if they have a bounty on their heads." turning towards Kuwabara. “The Sky Spirits work in mysterious ways, but they are found mostly in this western region of Shaguang, near the Wall of Heaven. They occasionally fly overhead, and we know to fear them, for in our ancestors’ tales they have caused the ruin of many tribes.”

Zalanda |
"Rest would be nice. Thank you. We can see about these Sky Spirits after a goods nights rest."
Amsheagar |
Unfortunately, your group doesn't get to bed anytime soon. As the tribes people welcome your arrival with a celebration that stretches way into the night. Upon waking up, you get to talk to the chieftain once more. Give me a diplomacy roll.
Zalanda |
Zalanda is happy to celebrate with the tribe. She dances, eats and talks with the people well into the night.

The morning comes much to early for Zalanda. She enjoyed herself to much last night and is very slow to get up. Barely dressing she goes with the other to me the chieftain.

Amsheagar |
The next morning, most of the tribes people are up and already working before you. Please reset your daily spells and update any list you need. Soon after, Ogokai enters your tent and a little bit surprised to find most of you still sleeping. Especially Duskin as Ogokai was wondering who that noise came from for most of the night.
"Good morning Pathfinders. I am glad that you had fun last night." he pulled out a small bag. "After speaking with the Sky Spirits, they have decided to let me give you this." inside of the bag is the incenses.
Kuwabara Kasei |
"Oh! Arigatou gozaimasu. Could you show me where you worship your spirits? I wish to leave them an offering of thanks."
Kasei will leave a gold coin on the altar or shrine or whatever the tribe uses for offerings, and speak with Ogokai regarding the incense and herbs they use in the village. Heal: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
Saarai Shae |
Saarai stretches luxuriously as the sun enters the tent.
"Ah, thank the Sky Spirits!" she smiles. "Thank you for the gift. This is a rare incense, and know it must be difficult to part with. Though we would love to stay longer, we must be on our way to Shokuro soon."
Amsheagar |
Ogokai shrugs, "The Sky Spirits work in mysterious ways." He bids you farewell as you continue your journey.
Clumps of green lichen cling to the links of an iron chain that spans the river a few inches above the water, the chain holding several vertical, bobbing logs in place. On the north shore, the chain is bolted to a squat stone block half-buried in the ground. To the south, the chain attaches to a large metal crank handle mounted to a ruined stone wall. A short wooden dock stretches from the front of the stone wall out to the middle of the slow-flowing river.
A burly man approaches the ship. "Welcome to the port of Lingshen. We are sorry, but we will have to search your ship for illegal merchandise."
NOTE: you are carrying an object from the previous scenario that may be considered "Illegal Merchandise."
You can try to hide the object with a slide of hands.

Smiling broadly, Saarai speaks quietly though her teeth to her companions, her lips barely moving.
"He's lying..."
Her tail subtly moves their contraband from her belt pouch into her boot.
"Yeah...go ahead and look around. We don't have anything improper..." she says to the man.

Amsheagar |
He looks around the ship, unable to find anything that could allow him to tax the Pathfinders. Grumpily, he turns towards the guards, "Lower the chain and let them through." The chains descend into the water, allowing the pathfinders to proceed further down the river.
Kuwabara Kasei |
"What gave you the impression that we would be carrying contraband?" Kasei asks him.

Saarai Shae |
Saarai smiles and winks at the others.
"All too easy!" she says with a cocky expression as she pulls the item out of her boot. out of sight, obviously.
Zalanda |
As the boat moves down river away from the inspection point. "That was close. How did you do that Saarai? I was sure he was going to find it."
Saarai Shae |
"I specialize in stealing relics and artifacts...this was almost like stealing from a blind man," Saarai smiles.
"Dead-Eye" Jones |
Jones watches Saarai deftly remove the object from site. After burly inspection guy leaves, "That was a nifty trick, well done." We must be entering Lingshen's territory.
Amsheagar |
Four days after your encounter with the guards, you arive at teh Shaguang-Kaoling border.
The sickening stench of death and decay wafts out of this narrow sandstone canyon. Half-eaten fish and bloody humanoid bones litter swaths of the shore, attracting clouds of buzzing black flies. Banyan trees grow along the top of the ridge, partially concealing with their thick, leathery roots the network of holes and tunnels that riddle the face of either cliff.
Please place youreself on the ship as you would be in this situation.
Zalanda |
Zalanda holds her nose. "I don't like the looks of this. What is this place?" She nervously pets her loaded crossbow.
Kuwabara Kasei |
As previously, Kasei is standing by the sailor they hired to guide the boat, his bow at the ready. "Smells like undeath. That's worrisome."
He calls upon Shizuru, and blesses his bow to do additional damage to evil creatures.
Using Good blessing on his longbow.
