You know, I think I'll do that. I figured he's heard enough of both so that's what I'll do then. That's a good idea. Will get that taken care of.

Heh, it's probably insanely unrealistic either way, but that's what happens with 'video-game leveling'. Suspension of disbelief is a class skill. As for me, I don't care which you pick, I just wanted to make sure you knew which one you were getting so you wouldn't be disappointed.

I totally agree. I always found it weird that you could take a rank in linguistics and automatically know "whatever language you decide to pick".
Or all of the sudden you pick up, "Knowledge Nobility". When you don't care or never bothered to know of such. But it's still there if you want to choose it. Odd stuff for sure.
Of course, I also have a hard time seeing a pc with like 6 or 7 weapons he's carrying around. A couple o' massive two handed weapons. Ranged weapon. Two or 3 other type weapons.
Where does a character store that many weapons?
Reminds me of Baldur's Gate. You've got 20 squares or so to fit anything you want. And as long as you don't exceed weight limit, you can keep on cruising.
Yeah, most definitely video-game leveling.

My favorite was when we figured out some enemies we kept meeting were speaking Infernal, but we didn't have anybody that could speak it. Next level, I took Infernal. (Via correspondence course, I suppose.) When we met those enemies again, I was all excited that I had learned their language. Turns out, they were speaking some bastardized version of it, and the DM asked me for a Linguistics check.
"But... I learned everything I know about Infernal from these things!"

Hurgah the Reaver |

Hurgah has a +20 to damage... on his BITE?!?! Seriously?! That is so freaking awesomely bad, dude! Dang that's tough.
Who needs weapons when you can just roll with, "I'll bite ya to death!" (Monty Python and all that) :)
Actually, Hurgah's bite damage maxes out at 1d8+21, once he gets his enlarge on. The flip side is that he can only use his claws and bite for 6 rounds per day. Of course, the 3d6+20 from his greataxe is nothing to sneeze at either.
But yeah, Hurgah is one mean dude, as is only fitting for a guy going through a "I'm an ancient red dragon reborn"-phase

Sorry for the extended absence everyone. I made it back from my trip with a dislocated rib and a messed up back. Needless to say, sitting in front of a computer for very long is kind of uncomfortable (actually, everything right now is kind of uncomfortable). But I'm working to catch up.
-
And here I thought you didn't have enough on your plate to keep you entertained.Heck! I didn't even know ribs could dislocate - ouch.
Time to cut back on the bar fights.

Gandel |

Thanks, guys! I didn't know ribs could dislocate either - some things you have to find out the hard way, I guess. Unfortunately I'm afraid my injuries aren't due to anything fun, but from struggling to adequately secure my young daughter's child-safety seat in her grandmother's tiny car. Getting old sucks. But the doctor seems to have gotten me on the road to recovery - at least it's becoming easier to breathe without sharp pain now.

Halstadt Morgrym |

That sucks Gandel. When I was in my early 20's I used to do treework and I remember throwing 400 and 500 lb. logs on my shoulder and walking them out of people's backyards. I would throw my back out though picking up things off the floor like blankets and cd cases and that was when I was young! Now I injure my toes walking to work! Getting old is the worst.and I am not even that old yet!

Donkor Sooron |

Hope you feel better soon Gandel. It's strange the way little things can hurt you, but babies are especially bad for it. My mom managed to crack her sternum simply by lifting a 12 lb baby out of a crib. No previous or subsequent problems of that nature, and relatively healthy bones for a 60 year old lady.

Pact Stone GM |

Ah Yes! In fact you would even get two.
You can look up hero points and how they work in the SRD (google pathfinder SRD, but I think you know that one.)
Hitting milestone posts is (so far) the only way to get hero points in this game.
Donkor got the first two and put them to pretty game-changing use (twice).
Gandel got the next two, if I recall correctly. I think he's got one left?

Just stopping in to say congrats on keeping this great game going, Pact Stone and company. A lot has happened over the last two years....Man, just thought about that as I typed it. Good stuff.

Heya Bilbo, great to hear from you.Your infamous bag of dung still remains a legend around this place.

I ran my table top game last night and my players are currently on a brief visit to Athas via the worldwalk spell. With the desert environment and ancient ruins they were journeying to I was thinking of this game the whole time! Of course my party is level 16-17 so they are just a bit more potent than the Dune Squad. The first few encounters they dispatched with ease, let's see what happens if they run across a 3,000 year old undead Dragon-King - that should be interesting :-)

Pact Stone GM |

Yay maps! I guess one of us should actually be mapping then huh? Xerissa could volunteer going forward, unless somebody else has special skills that make them a better choice. Also, thanks for the explainy on the hero points. Yes, i know what the srd is. Jeesh. : )
-
Sold! Xerissa is now mapping for the Dune Squad. Thank you for adding a little bit of realism to the game then. What this means is, the default during travel is that she's holding paper and a charcoal stick (or quill if you're inclined). So unless you indicate she's holding her bombs (such as you have clearly done in this recent encounter, for example) she's not combat ready.
Also, if Xerissa and her map are ever separated from the Dune Squad, I'll remove the associated dungeon maps. Cool!

I really dug my Dark Sun books! Great flavor. Never managed to get a long-running game out of them though for some reason. I really dug the intro adventure too, the one where you start-out as escaped slaves, though if I recollect it has been rather criticized on the net.I got a live game tonight myself! Looking forward to it!
Good gaming there Hal.
And Happy Easter to you all!

Cool. Got it. Xerissa's your map girl.
