Everyone, I'm truly sorry for the prolonged radio silence. This has been a Springtime of chaos: multiple illnesses in the family (but we're all doing better now, thankfully!), plus we're in the process of changing jobs, selling our house, buying a house in another state, and moving between now and mid-June. I thought things were beginning to get under control a couple of weeks ago, but that hasn't been the case. And trying to catch up now that I'm over 350 posts behind seems quite daunting to say the least. Needless to say, I'm going to have to drop out of this PbP.
Again, my apologies. This game has been an extremely enjoyable and wild ride, Master Beetle! Good luck and best regards to everyone!
EDIT: Oh, and congratulations to Jace on the upcoming birth! You're in for much joy and excitement (but stock-up on all the sleep you can get now)!

Thanks for all the well-wishes.
Baby Hurgah has a 3 1/2 year old big brother, so I'm not totally unprepared for what is about to happen. Still, I'm fully expecting lots of chaos.
Gandel, good to hear from you and good that your family are doing ok. Sorry to see you go, having you on the team has been great.

Thank you Max. T'was nice playing with you.
I appreciate you posting to let us know where things are at.
I'm with Hal, but you are also off the hook. I understand busy.
When we reach the end of this adventure I plan to post a bunch of reveals. Assuming we ever get there and I actually follow through, you might want to check back some day. I like to think there was more going on in this game than on the surface.
See you around the boards some time, hope you get in some great games!

Hal groans at Pate's revelation, "I did yesterday, I did not think stealth would be a factor in what we face within this tomb".
-
I feel for ya on that one.I noticed that Hal has had silence in his spell selection religiously for quite some time.
Then, as soon as he reaches a death trap where it produces an immediate "easy button", it drops off his sheet.
I think Donkor used to have it prepared as well.
It's days like this you want to be a sorcerer or an oracle.

Hey folks (players and lurkers alike) - I have a dropout from my Realm of the Fellnight Queen PbP and am in the market for a replacement player.
The game is in the final chapter of the module, but I estimate there is at least a few months of RL game time left.
The party have entered the Fellnight Realm to confront the evil fey queen Rhoswen, and are currently inside her Palace.
The group have recently hit 8th level.
The remaining characters are
- Meycho, halfling inquisitor
- Caelin, elven ranger
- Taecuss, elven bard
- Goodluck, human oracle of waves
If you want in, send me a PM and we'll work out the details. If I get more than one applicant, I'll figure out some sort of audition process.

Did you find your victim? I mean player? As a lurker, I can vouch that he's got an awesome game going.

Oh man! A time sub-plot?
This can't go wrong!
With his newly discovered item, Breach only gets one question - unless it's entertaining, then we can stretch it.
You know you're jumping the shark tank when. . .
Totally a Doctor Who bit! Fantastic!

I got a couple of people who are interested.

You guys have likely noticed I've been around and posting less lately. This is due to a combination of being uncharacteristically busy with work, and my general reluctance to spend much time using my computer during the summer.
Just wanted to warn you that I think I'm going to be off camping for most of the summer, and although I will try to check in, I will likely be around less and less. Sorry folks.
Pact Stone GM
Thanks for that Denis! Excellent idea.
I'd love some help, and you don't even need to go that far. What I would like is if you could suggest actions for Gandel as we move along, both in and out of combat.
I've discovered, I am often paralyzed GM PCing Gandel as there are lot's of things he could be doing to help, but I don't want him taking over and I worry I am abusing my knowledge of the module. If you, on the other hand, were posting, I would feel less guilty as it would be "legit".
You don't even need to make an avatar. If you could even just post stuff like "Gandel reads the glyphs". "Gandel casts spell X". "Gandel shares what he knows on topic Y". "The professor volunteers to pull the dangerous-looking lever". Or "Gandel pledges his undying allegiance to the Exemplar Khymrasa". That sort of thing.
I'll continue to post in-character discussion.
Let's see how that works and if I get overloaded, we'll take it further and I'll ask you if I can take you up on your offer and have you run him completely. But for now, I don't want to do anything that might detract you from your time spent running Hal.
Be warned, Gandel is a pretty complex PC mechanically. He's got tons of options. Fortunately, Max demo'd most of it for us.

Uh, dare I ask what happened to Jason?
This happened to Jason...
"Fulfillment of a Prophesy"
Deca-Jaws lands back down in the water, finding itself no longer able to attack the more choice targets on the shore. With lightning speed belaying its massive size, the creature dives back down into the water. From there it uses its fins to propel itself upwards at an incredible speed and launches its several dozen ton body completely into the air.

That's 3 hits plus 2 criticals for 54 points of damage. Holy hydrarific! Previously injured, Jason drops from 34 to -20. He literally just needed that last confirmation roll to fail to survive. Ugh! There goes my NPC. I'm looking for math/buff errors to help him out, but I think it's done.
Lastly, as the beast's turn ends, Deca-Jaws fast heals 10 hit points.
----------
Once the Apex-predator breaks the water, it quickly envelops the young sorcerer. A massive tangle of biting jaws rip away at Belleson’s body, overpowering the multiple layers of magical protection, stripping them away. You can hardly look as your comrade is torn to shreds by an entire pack of shark-like heads. The sorcerer’s spell immediately ends and his body splashes down into the pool. Having tempted fate one time too many at last, the adventurer begins to sink beneath the surface.
So...don't EVER get yourself set up to be charged by a 10-head hydra...unless you're Hurgah the Reaver buffed with stoneskin. Then it's totally the right thing to do...
Pact Stone GM
Holy mackerel, that hydra pounce is a lot of typing! Isn't a 10 headed hydra like way over our CR band? Was pacstone perhaps trying to end the game? I'm guessing that since the rest of you are still here you somehow prevailed.
-
Yeah, this group gets a bit ancy if they go too long without combat so I gave them three options, one of which included a monster advertised as overly deadly. They took it. I believe Pharasma even predicted there would be a death if they took that option. <---She wasn't wrong as it turned out.Anyways, Deca-Jaws is no more, however. This party has a pretty high DPR once they dog-pile something. I'll have to figure out how to re-animate the hydra or something one day, but I think the Dune Squad burned him in a giant pyre so it would be pretty cheesy if I did.

Turns out a 10 headed hydra pounce is not so bad if you are a mean half-orc dracon disciple buffed with stoneskin rather than a squishy flying sorcerer type.
Observe:
"Hey Koolaid!. . . Oh yeah!"
----------
Deca-Jaws is irritated that the death-water priest ensnared him in a whirlpool in his own lair.
Deca-Jaws is further annoyed that this same priest ejected one of his heads to the surface and made it flop like a fish
Deca-Jaws is particularly agitated that the large dwarf drove a spear through one of his brains. He had to re-grow the whole head – he hasn’t had to do that in years!
Deca-Jaws is further agitated that the same dwarf took him on in a staring contest and managed to escape in the blink of an eye (so the hydra has some difficulty telling the dwarves apart – don’t we all?)
Deca-Jaws is further enraged that this giant dwarf then cast some kind of hex on him – messing with his chi. (You seen one enlarged-dwarf, you seen em all, no?)
Deca Jaws is seriously cheesed off that to top it off a draconic-beast man has entered his oasis and shouted him down in a contest of roars.
Deca-Jaws is downright angry that this same beast has sunk his jaws into his neck and tore a gaping hole all the way down to his chest.
Yeah, hulk definitely smash!

That's a total of 63 damage. However, Moonpate's stoneskin absorbs 62 points of that. Hurgah takes exactly 1 point of damage. Amazing. Though, I should note there's only 8 hit points of protection left in that spell. Dang, if it weren't for Hal, Deca could have exhausted the spell in a round.
Lastly, Deca-Jaws fast heals 10 points of damage.
----------
The stampeding hydra rolls over the half-orc with ease, crushing him deep into the sand. It then stops on a dime and begins laying into the dragon disciple. One at a time each head rises to its full height and then comes crashing down, using the full force of its muscled neck to slam into the half-orc, each time with a reverberating thunder crack as the creature’s head strikes home. Angry and determined, the creature refuses to give its target even a sliver of time to recover and escape. It is time for the interloper to die.
The half-orc however is. . . laughing?! Although practically buried in an impact crater, Hurgah finds the mega-hydra’s attacks merely amusing. For unbeknownst to the ten-headed one, the real power behind the half-orc’s daring gambit has come from the wizard behind him, the Potentate. By harnessing the mystic power of diamonds, the wizard has transfused Hurgah’s body with the properties of stone. With each strike the King-Lizard’s teeth simply shatter and break as they hit the half-orc’s glittering body. As the assault continues the hydra’s faces gradually transform into bizarre collages of purplish bruising – each blow brings the creature more and more pain with little return.
Slowly Hurgah rises to one knee, then to his feet. Deca-Jaws pounds away faster and faster and more furiously until suddenly a new emotion strikes enters the creature’s brain-cluster, one the apex-predator hasn’t experienced in a very long time: fear.

Baby Hurgah decided to arrive yesterday morning. A healthy boy, 3800 grams, 53 cm (8,37lbs/20,8 inches for you non-metric types). We are entertaining guests and getting settled in a new family rhythm, so posting might be a bit irregular over the next few days.
Hurgah the Reaver
Fortunately for me, Mrs. Hurgah is taking the brunt of the night-time activities, so I'm actually fairly well rested. That still leaves me to take care of our eldest son and most of the practical work, while she is either comatose or sitting still with a little milk-guzzler attached.
Good thing I have three weeks of vacation followed by two weeks of paternity leave before I have to be back at work. Should allow us to settle into some kind of familiar rhythm by then.
Donkor Geddarm
Could not find the right avatar but at least I have a separate Avatar from Hal or Gandel to reduce confusion. If Kenneth doesn't respond by the time everyone else has posted initiative I will pick him up Beetle, its no problem.
Javell DeLeon
You're gonna suffer from multiple personality disorder if you keep this up, Dennis. :)
It's funny, when we use to play in RL, I ALWAYS played 2 characters. We never quite had enough characters and no one else really wanted to. It didn't bother me to do it like it did them.
Pact Stone GM
I am good with either of you. Since Denis has 2 already, let's send Donkor to Kenneth - unless someone feels strongly.
I just prefer you guys work him so if I crush him like a bug, I won't be accused of going rough on GM PCs. It'll be a more appropriate complaint that I'm rough on everyone!
BTW - I have updated the map with starting locations for this rather tense moment. This giant room is suddenly looking a little on the small size - the map kinda gives away that your opponent is actually size "L".
Javell DeLeon
My posting is more than likely gonna be scarce over the next few days starting tomorrow. Due to a bit of vacation time and all. Should be good around Wednesday or Thursday though. Maybe I get something out there but in case I don't, y'all know why.
