Yeah... re-reading my post I see I'm not clear as to where Sunset has stopped.
I mean to post that she's stopped on the 'Inside' of the crowd before Grigori.

Seraph_ |

Apologies for skipping over your post Sunset. Will try not to do so again. Just thought I'd say something. I felt bad about it.
Excellent post Justinian!

*Hugz* Seraph. No worries.

Seraph_ |

Oh it will with time, enjoying the bar scene. Justinian is in his element! XD
GM Glyn Just to be clear, Seraph is very much a people person, though I can understand Grigori's presence would change perceptions. I like to think she is always trying to help where she can and keep her hand on the pulse of the community. Especially while the community is small, I think we are only a few thousand now, when it gets bigger and we have an army this will change of course.
Trying to be the whole Public Hero part of the General role. Though I admit it stretches her thin. REgardless, i'm liking the flow of the game! So I hope I don't sound like i'm being negative or anything.
Asta I think the servants have been swayed... *Snort* Need mayonnaise with that rat? XD

Seraph_ |

If my text i the Gameplay thread sounded angry r such, wasn't meaning to imply that.
I was just assuming on Seraph's part since GM Glyn didn't put anything else extra in our spoiler, that she didn't know where anything was coming from or who casted it.
Since Diplomacy checks take a minimum of a minute to perform correctly then she did overlap Grigori's 1d3 rounds I am assuming but not my call.
On with the game and lets have soem fun, though I would love to see Justinian go hostile or something on Grigori. I'll bring the popcorn, after we saved that family!
Justinian Let the good times roll! Eh? :D

I liked the old Avatar pick better only because the new one just looked dirty on her face haha. I wish there were more or I could upload my own, but I understand that would Murder their servers. :/

"They could have built a wall around the city to protect everyone, but no."
It just occurred to me how foresighted the writers of the AP were.
Had Kingmaker only come out this year, I would've sworn someone had sent an expy of Donald Trump to act as agitator....

She looked really cute, though, even with the little horns. ^_^

Seraph_ |

Lol. XD this is true. She looked all angst too haha.

No kidding right. Total demagogue, makes me personally want to exile this jerkface.
But Seraph just wants to crush him. After someone casted spells on the crowd though... that is just not good. Seraph is losing her patience for sure. :/

Seraph_ |

Excellent post Justinian :) I think it's high time Seraph turns it over to you. Will work this out later. XD

BTW, I've looked up information on who notices what for spell casting.
There is a FAQ clarification on SpellCraft {link} for noticing and identifying spells being cast.
What exactly do I identify when I’m using Spellcraft to identify a spell? Is it the components, since spell-like abilities, for instance, don’t have any? If I can only identify components, would that mean that I can’t take an attack of opportunity against someone using a spell-like ability (or spell with no verbal, somatic, or material components) or ready an action to shoot an arrow to disrupt a spell-like ability? If there’s something else, how do I know what it is?
Although this isn’t directly stated in the Core Rulebook, many elements of the game system work assuming that all spells have their own manifestations, regardless of whether or not they also produce an obvious visual effect, like fireball. You can see some examples to give you ideas of how to describe a spell’s manifestation in various pieces of art from Pathfinder products, but ultimately, the choice is up to your group, or perhaps even to the aesthetics of an individual spellcaster, to decide the exact details. Whatever the case, these manifestations are obviously magic of some kind, even to the uninitiated; this prevents spellcasters that use spell-like abilities, psychic magic, and the like from running completely amok against non-spellcasters in a non-combat situation. Special abilities exist (and more are likely to appear in Ultimate Intrigue) that specifically facilitate a spellcaster using chicanery to misdirect people from those manifestations and allow them to go unnoticed, but they will always provide an onlooker some sort of chance to detect the ruse.
I don't fully agree with the ruling, because it makes the meta magic feats of silence, still and Eschew Materials less useful, and adds a visual effect to all spell casting, but it is an official ruling so we will go with it. It applies to spell-like abilities, but it doesn't say if and how it applies to supernatural abilities.
Effectively, everyone would have been aware that Grigory used magic in his speech. Most of the crowd didn't care since they fell under the effect. The Enthrall spell is really a poor choice for a bard give the above.

Seraph_ |

Oh wow... Didn't realize that at all. So yeah really bad PR for Grigori if people remember he was messing with then. :/
Thanks for finding that GM Glyn. Learned something new.

Seraph_ |

If it c I uld have counted as an aid check. Then we could have broke even with Grigori. :)
Your speech was still awesome though, very well done!

Asta Blackheart |

Dang. I did not want it to come to this, but we obviously can't let the Mites execute some itinerant settlers.
If I can't persuade Grubble to let us have all of them .... Urgh.
Thoughts, everyone?

![]() |

How about trade concessions. "The honey and other materials provided by the mites are in demand, after all. It's only right that they get appropriately compensated for them."
Or formally invite the mites to create an embassy at Greenheart. They could have a staff on par or even one more than the kobolds. We would even provide personal valets and an honor guard for them (ie folks to watch over them). Something we don't do for the kobolds.
Work out an agreement for the cost of any criminals that have illegally crossed into mite lands.

Justinian Doran |

How about just take them down? I don't even understand why this is an issue. They have just given you a casus belli. They're mites, for crying out loud! Think long term - we will need this space. They have survived so far by your good graces. Time for them to go.
If you negotiate and give in over and over and over with creatures like this (to include the kobolds, btw) they will keep taking advantage of you. To them, you are weak, and they can bully you around each and every time by kidnapping a few farmers. Farmers this time, merchants trading with them next time. It will never end.
This doesn't even consider the effect this will have on what Grigori is preaching. It's all I can do just to break even with him until we can find some dirt on him we can use.

Asta Blackheart |

Okay.
Seraph? Sunset? What do you say?
If it comes to a showdown, I suggest we stand in front of the settlers and I open up with a Loathsome Veil. Try to take out Grubble while his troops are (hopefully) reeling.

Sunset, |

Sorry, long days at work etc.
On the one hand you've got the 'Meta gaming' "Well.. by the book they're allways X alignemnt." In this case chaotic evil fey.
Sunset's veiw? She's generally always more for what's "Right" than for what's "Legal" Her world veiw is more 'spirit' of the law than 'Letter' of the law.
Hence her getting her back up when the King gave his decree.....
For Asta to keep the diplomacy up? Now is the time for veiled threats. Or perhaps warning the Mite King of 'Bigger' pictures.
Sure, he may decree the death penalty now and for the next interlopers... but what if the kin of said folks come calling... and they bring an army or other wise world of hurt down on the Mite King's head for the death of their kin?
Also, is this how the Mite King wants his subjects treated? Any mites crossing the wrong borders, fencelines getting themselves squished, stomped and other wise done awaywith all 'legal' like by other folks laws?
What Karma goes around and comes around like a bee-atch.
Sorry for the ramble. Hope the ideas help some.

Justinian Doran |

The only thing I would add is that it is not 'meta-gamey' to know mites are evil. That would be common knowledge for anyone living in this world. The same goes for kobolds, why do you think the people are reacting they way they are? Or Justinian for that matter? There's an excellent chance in this part of the world that everyone knows someone who knows someone that was eaten by a mite or a kobold. It doesn't take meta-game knowledge to know that's bad.
Obligatory smiley face: 8)

Interestingly, I looked back to see how the PCs have handled trials.
I found three.
Kressel - Now Royal Enforcer.
Kundal - cured werewolf being held at elk temple.
3 Ambush Bandits - now 2 still in dungeon.
The trial for the Kressel and Bandits seemed to follow the same pattern. Offer a chance at redemption and take a vote on punishment.
Kundal despite being repentant is still being held, no trial yet.
The mite king being evil doesn't believe in redemption, and he is the only one that gets a vote. Not sure how evil redemption would work anyway??? "If you promise to do more bad things for us we will let you go." ???

Seraph_ |

Sorry guys, i'm back. Been a rough week -.-;

Seraph_ |

Me too. :/
Sorry guys, literally had no time to post, finally back at work and able to get some breathing room. Post coming up!

Seraph_ |

Post is up, were we not allowed to have our mounts nearby? Seraph wasn't going to dismount unless she had too. Just let me know GM Glen and I will modify my post as needed. Thanks!

Seraph - Julian is combat trained, the DC to have him attack is DC10.
It's DC10 to any animal preform a trained trick, DC12 if injured.
It's a DC15 or DC20 to teach an animal a trick.
It's a DC25 to push an animal to preform a trick it doesn't know.

Seraph_ |

Thanks Gm glyn I was looking really hard and didn't see it :( Appreciate the help!

Seraph_ |

HOP was supposed to be, ROL Reward of Life
I've corrected my autocorrect lmao

Justinian Doran |

Justinian sorry your PC is sidelined by the big fight. So have you given any thought to how to run the Kingdom if the others don't make it back?
No worries. I suspected something like this might happen when I didn't go, but I didn't want to leave Grigori to his own devices.
As to the other, no I haven't. Hoping they make it!

Sunset, |

All hail King Justin?
(^_~)
Or is that "All hail King Doran!" ?
Much cheers to folks.

Seraph_ |

King Justinian 'The Sword of Righteous Valor' Doran, may he live forever! Demon Slayer, Protector of the meek and denouncer of charlatans!
XD

Seraph_ |

Now enter Seraph the destroyer, crusher of insects and slayer of those who attack Queen Asta.
So are we going for full elimination of the Mite threat or...?

Sunset, |

Aye, survivin' first. Slayin' second. :)

Seraph_ |

Understood. Finally back at a camp with stable internet, my last one wanted 50 dollars a day for internet....
