I have a middle-aged (not sure how you deal with age penalties as a DM--some just ignore them and say to leave it as flavor) Human Fighter who I used to play through all of book 1 of KM a couple years ago. He's a grizzled veteran who was a bodyguard and kind of no-nonsense teacher/trainer of our young, well-intentioned nobleman leader.

I'd like to update him to maybe the Drill Sergeant Archetype and submit him, if you're still looking for people. What's your deadline? I loved book 1 and I've always wanted to continue the AP.

Did this make it in time for the deadline or no?

Yes you are in time. I usually ignore aging effects, and likewise am not a huge stickler on rations/feed/ammunition.

Thanks! Here is Brogan. I left his Background a little sparse so I could tailor it to the group that you have. Thanks for considering me.

Next level I get AWT which will allow me to treat everyone as having my Teamwork feat (Intercept Charge) always.

I should be able to keep people safe by stepping into harm's way and using my reach weapons or using Juke to dodge and flank people. He's a pretty mobile, versatile fighter.

... Wait... did you say at next level Brogan is getting 'HAWT'?

*Looks at Torod*

Looks like you've got competition, mate....

Advanced Weapon Training :-)

I think I may have a bit too expensive of gear, so I'm going to dial it down a bit (and can adjust further if needed).

Grand Lodge

Oh no! Any character that joins must be female. Torod can't be seen adventuring with another guy. It would just ruin his play boy adventurer reputation.

XD

Oh great, Deja-vue, I was not accepted in another game only because my character was female....

EDIT... anyway I am working on White Eagle's new stats for this game.
hope to finish tomorrow, (mostly done just to edit the equipment next.)

lmao Bad Torod!

Here we go, changed it up from the initial concept and upon reflection I can only go for one game at the moment. If I don't make it for this one I will submit a Kobold for the other. I am assuming it is in a separate recruitment thread right?

Character below and main crunch in Character sheet. Gear is equal to about 1700 gp in total w/o any magical items, she has masterwork stuff but I was going for as close to a 3rd level Heroic NPC in regards to cash on hand as I could to refelcet her story/setting. Thanks!

Aslan Von Kessel - Brief Character outline:

Aslan Von Kessel
Human natural werebear ranger (ilsurian archer, sable company marine) 3

Primarily, Archer, DD and Aerial scout.

Lycanthrope will be a rare thing, she would have to be pressed to unleash the beast as it is a thing that pains her to bear.

Background:

My childhood? Can't say I recall much, born out of wedlock and treated like the bastard I am among the nobles of the house. Lived like a surf's child and was kept out of sight out of mind for the most part. Hell they would have probably preferred I had died in the first winter I am sure.

I was a hellion come my teenage years, a lot of pent up anger and frustration for my lot in life. Often took it out on the never-do-wells that skulked around town. Too bad for them I was far stronger then most and often it ended in a bloody beating for them. Those were the days. I preferred being away from the main house, probably as much as they hoped I didn't come back.

Well... They got their wish, about a decade later then they hoped. Bastards. It wasn't until I was fifteen that I underwent my first... change. It was also during a particularly brutal fight too. Its all a blur really now but I still remember what happened after as the mark on my face was my punishment.

She indicates the symbol of what appeared to be a archaic backwards 'C' made up of three harsh lines that were branded near her left eye. Which was covered by an eye patch.

You see, when I changed, I had no restraint and tore into those boys with all the power of a bear. Nearly killed a couple of them. So the people of the village took none to kindly and made it readily apparent as to what I was with a branding iron. Anyone who recognizes the symbol branded on my face will know what I am, I am... I am naked to every passerby...

Well, where was I? Right, that was the incident that finally allowed the family to cut all ties with me, I was out on my own with little to nothing to my name. Sure they pressed a small bag of gold in my hands and told me just where I could stuff it if I came back or tried to claim lineage from them. But I was of the mind to strike out on my own and joined a traveling troupe from Ilsurn, surprisingly I learned more then juggling. The entertainers took a liking to me and through them I learned bowcraft there but it wasn't easy as people were weary of me from the start. I spent a good couple of years with them before landing a gig back in the city with some particularly well off traders.

What they traded though wasn't simple goods, no, they traded pets of the exotic varity. Though they were right stingy bastards, always late with the pay and when I helped them track down and capture a hippogriff they didn't give me my cut. Even though I did the bloody work for it! So I got them back good for it. How you ask? Well I took back my creature when they were sleeping, the creature took a liking to me and to this day I don't know why but Stradish is my beast and to hell with those clods may the rot in pieces. Teach them to stiff their best workers ever again...

Though...

They had friends and those same friends hunted me all the way until I made a break for the stolen lands and well... Here I've stayed. Fighting the local brigand or two and trapping just to stay afloat, endurance overcomes all out here you know. Besides life is simpler this way, Stradish and I can roam where the wind takes us with no one to stop us from doing as we please. True freedom that. Don't you agree?

Personality:

Aslan is a bit standoffish and a tad too stoic for most folks to handle. She is a quiet person, not very comfortable in urban settings and even frontier towns make her itch. She is truly at home in the wilderness, no judgement there, only peace and simplicity that she understands completely.

However in combat she is ruthless, mercy isn't in her nature really as she has adopted the hunters lifestyle of living. Kill or be killed. Stradish and her tend to stay high above and pepper foes with swift attacks and arrows. Often using musk on intended targets to track them with ease no matter where they run too.

She doesn't use her other form though, not often anyways and not unless truly pressed as Stradish cannot bear her aloft in her changed state and often times her clothing doesn't survive the transition... Which makes it expensive to replace.

Appearance:

This raven haired beauty is tall, standing at 5'11" with a muscular form and broad-shoulders, with stark facial features and dark brown eyes. Their hair is usually red, brown, or black, and they look like they are used to a lifetime of hard work.

In her Hybrid and Animal form she takes on a more muscular appearance, her hair changes to a snow white and she grows to the size of a real bear. The monstrous form is rather unnerving for most as she has a partial muzzle and the branding is more pronounced due to the lake of fur at that part of her face.

Good luck to everyone! I decided since Kenderkin seemed a bit more open I would go for something I hadn't tried before. Something with some major fun factor to it. Thanks for allowing me the chance. Again good luck and may whoever get it have a great time! :D

*Looks at potential newcomer*

Not sure if yer all into tattoos an' scars an' stuff. Or if'n it's a badge more of honor now, kind'a thing...

But.. there's a Alchemical remedy kind'a cure.. if'n yer interested...

*Goes back to smoking cigar...*

Hehe I responded to you Sunset in Pm. :)

Made an adjustment to the character sheet, Hero Lab doesn't call the Sky Stalker Arch what it is and instead calls it the Sable Company Marine which she is not. So just changed the wording in the sheet as both archetypes are the same.

If anyone wants to chat feel free to PM me, if no one minds posts in the recruitment thread then I will respond here however I just don't want to get peoples hopes up with a bunch of posts that had nothing to do with the Recruitment.

That's all for now. Again best of luck everyone, some neat characters here that's for sure!

Seeing as I missed the Recruitment Closed post above I can stick with my original Alchemist idea, whatever you guys decide. Thanks!

Right now the discussion seems to be what the party needs, as opposed to what we have in the submissions thus far.

I can respect people having a vision and wanting to play a specific character concept; on the other hand is anyone willing to make adjustment(s) to their characters to give a bit more of what we need?

Well. ^^;

Let me look into making a bard. Hopefully that will be a decent one to have for the group.

Sure.

I went straight up melee martial with Vrek, because at first glance, you guys had arcane, divine, and ranged represented : Is there a particular class you'd like instead?

If you wanted skills, well, I'm already playing a swashbuckler/rogue elsewhere, but I could have fun with a bard.

If you want divine, I have a 4th level human cleric of Shelyn named Bydar whose KM game ended on him.

If you want another arcane type, I've been tempted to give Arcanist a try

I can tweak Vrek into something (Which would naturally adjust his backstory and personality some, but no worries) or make up someone else entirely.

I posted this in Discussion, but I'm reposting here in case anyone isn't following that part of the thread:

Brogan Vrabec wrote:

Well, from an outsider's perspective--you guys already have 2 divine casters and 2 arcane casters, with two of your characters dealing with ranged. You have a good number of skills covered, but you don't really have a true "tank" (if you're looking at traditional class roles). I think that's why people wanted to submit more martial characters.

Brogan is going to have a healthy investment in keeping enemies away from the squishier ranged/caster types, and he has ok skills (at least for a fighter).

I submitted him because, yeah, I completed book 1 with him and he's a fun character.

I also have a Lore Warden I've been wanting to try out that I can submit instead (or just make Brogan or Lore Warden). He would have a lot more skills, including Knowledge Skills and UMD. Still tanky, but can contribute more outside of combat (and focuses more on maneuvers/control than always focusing on damage).

I have good Perception, decent Knowledge (Dungeoneering), Survival, and a good assortment of physical skills--I think I can contribute decently outside of a fight. And in a fight I'm not just straight damage, but pretty versatile with some battlefield control and maneuvers (and Tactician should work decently with the summons/animal companion).

I guess my question is--what is it that you guys think the group is lacking?

Aslan/Danath here.

The point behind Aslan was to capitalize on the Paladin who already has a high AC as the main tank, especially as they can heal themselves. So instead her focus was guaranteed hits, alongside her mounts strikes and themed as a Death from above / aerial scout.

Looking over Kenderkin's post again and reviewing the part once more other then a more dedicated combat type in the group I can only see the need for a more Utility/Skills/Buffing type. So I made a Bard to do just that, how effectively? That's to be seen. :)

She has the ability to use bardic performance to do a form of fast healing, has inspire courage and is pretty much vanilla bard.

Chose Azata Blooded Aasimar and exchanged the Daylight spell for Zone of Truth 1/day.

I am not the best with Clerics or Wizard types, its why I will go Alchemist or Melee type instead. I can survive as a Magus because they are melee orientated but full caster classes are just as much fun for me. Just being honest.

Cheers! :D

I will be sticking with White Eagle. I know you guys lost a ranger, and White Eagle is good in the wilderness, good survival and really good perception. he his a hardened warrior as well and very difficult to kill.

I applied with him before to Kenderkin's game and did not get in, so I will keep trying.

If I do not get in, then so-be-it. I will just try again somewhere else.

Also I know the level is wrong in the alias. I git stuck working a 16 hour shift today and no chance to update. but I will be dropping a barbarian level. I also will have to adjust his stats as they are not quite the proper 20 point buy (actually they are a little under)

Well seeing as this is the second time I have applied for a Kingmaker game, the first one was a way skewed variant and I was a Cavalier.

I have been honest and don't have much more to give idea wise. As much as I would love to play a hippogriff riding Cavalier I think it would be far more broken then what I already proposed. Besides I am not out to over optimize, I rather build something I can have fun with without overshadowing everyone in the group.

I give you the three options, best I have~

The brooding potion crafting bomb throwing Lucian! Alchemist 4

The hippogriff flying, bow wielding Aslan Von Kessel! Ranger 3/Lycan

And the lively freedom loving, song singing hippy Lillend! Bard 4

I just love this profile pic. Friggen awesome. Srsly keeping this character lol.

I will check in while waiting for the final results but unless needed for something I won't muck up the recruitment thread further. Best of luck everyone!

*Hugz* All the best to you

I feel your OT pain...

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I can't do it! I can not turn Edward down a second time. I am sure with a few minor tweaks Chief White Eagle will be a great addition to the party.

I am glad for the first time I didn't reboot the recruitment promising players they could vote.

I am also certain he will post regularly in this game.

The rest of you are on standby. If a spot opens I will give you first shot at it.

Congratulations to Chief White Eagle!

Thanks for considering me ;)

Congrats!

*Hugz* To all the folks who tried out. (^_^)

updating White eagle's sheet now.

Paizo was down so I could not transfer to the profile.

Oh BTW thanks for the select.

What tweeks do you need? well besides the obvious ones of course.

Congrats Edward! Give Seraph hell for me and have fun!

Kenderkin thanks for the consideration and I will be lurking and waiting for another chance to post these three again. I will flesh out Lucian, Aslan and Lillend more in the mean time so there is more meat too them. :)
