GM Wicked |
Sorry Ragnar. Yes, let's say you were able to mend the armor.
GM Wicked |
Ragnar, you can assume you're wearing the breastplate. I'll update my post's "status" spoiler (though I'll still ask you to track temp hp).
Ragnar Hedefødt |
I'd suggest trust and arm the locals. They may not be the greatest warriors, but it is their burden and honour to fight for their own freedom.
Also, if we have leveled up from those fights, Eldgrimr and I (and Þyrnir, too, should he choose to take the spell) would be able to cast Create Food and Water for a total of sixty-three people daily, or if we find some winter berries, Goodberry for some as well.
Then again, those two spells are known to not so much throw spanners as completely demolish survival sections (no duh), so I'd not be against banning them. Again, that's purely my opinions. It might actually be an excellent and flavourful choice for a spell, granted by Frigg, and it wouldn't be completely destructive to the survival part!
GM Wicked |
@Ragnar We haven't leveled up yet. We had an accelerated leveling from four to six in order to run Oath of the Predator, which has delayed our progress to Level 7. We won't reach level seven for some time, unfortunately.
@Sub nonsense, I laughed out loud!
Ragnar Hedefødt |
@Sub, I agree, this is 100% Ramundr, and the tease is greatly appreciated (by the player. Ragnar might blush even more).
And I would definitely not put it past Ragnar to occasionally chunk his cookies. I'm pretty sure I did mention that before he was the Godwytch, he was the son of merchants, which is pretty much the cushiest and softest growing up one could have in the Northlands for a boy.
@GM - that's good - I do enjoy survival parts in other games, it's I've just come to accept the sheer ability of spellcasters in Pathfinder to make them pointless.

Depending on how you want to do this, the module is fairly flexible. Basically, equipping, feeding, and recruiting the Ulnat will consume your resources (necessitating a bit of hunting), but will increase your forces when you assault the Second Temple.
Mechanically, this will mean that I reduce the number of opponents on the field to account for the fact that you're bring more fighters who will be doing battle with those opponents.
One ration feeds approximately 50 people for one day. There are nearly 200 Ulnat, in various states of age and health, to recruit, so in total you're consuming 5/day.
The Second Temple is a two-day hike inland, over the flat and open tundra. You, and they, will be visible at a distance for many miles.
GM Wicked |
Oh, and if this talk of the "second temple" has you wondering about the first, that is the subject of the next adventure, Beyond the Wailing Mountains :).
Eldgrímr Hallgrimsson |
Ah, the problems of war. More soldiers means more consumption, which means more raiding, which means more soldiers, which means more...
More. War is a lot of more.
GM Wicked |
My work schedule is a bit cyclical, sometimes calm, sometimes demanding. The last four weeks have been calm, but I'm entering the "demanding" period for the next 4 weeks. I'll still post as often as I can, but expect a drop in my rate.
Signe Oddvardottir |
I'll be away from March6-11 so please bot Signe as needed if you want to move the game along and I haven't posted.
Þyrnir |
Heads up that I will be at a conference between 17-24th of this month and my posting will slow down as a consequence.
GM Wicked |
My goal is to resume GM posting within the week!
GM Wicked |
*Bump* Ramundr gets a surprise round action, then Eldgrimr may take his full action at the top of the first full round before the sabertooth gets to act again. Following that, everyone is up again (Signe's already given her action).
Eldgrímr Hallgrimsson |
Ah apologies, I was somewhat confused and assumed I would need to wait for the surprise round to be over before posting my action. Working on a post now.
GM Wicked |
No worries. You're absolutely right, I'm just giving us a quick explanation of the current initiative.
Eldgrímr Hallgrimsson |
Alright well post is up, going to start raging song since it would be impossible for me to stand, draw, and attack all in the same round.
GM Wicked |
Blasted action economy. The struggle is real, as I'm experiencing with a warpriest in another game.
Eldgrímr Hallgrimsson |
So quick question:
Since the cat raked Ragnar, and Eldgrimr's raging song was up, doesn't that mean anybody who was threatening the cat gets an AoO? Which would be Ótryggr, correct?
Edit: Wait, I think my point is moot, because he got an AoO anyways and he only gets 1/round.
Edit 2: Which is why I'm planning on taking Quick Reflexes as my next rage power. Riiiiggght, I remember how this build works :)
GM Wicked |
Yes I keep forgetting that effect despite your best efforts to remind me! But please keep it up! And so yes, with one AoO the end result should be the same.
GM Wicked |
Ha, awesome! I think you'll need to make a concentration check, per the grappled condition:
A grappled character who attempts to cast a spell or use a spell-like ability must make a concentration check (DC 10 + grappler’s CMB + spell level), or lose the spell.
The DC is 34.
Edit: Additionally, Ragnar was still flat-footed until the start of his turn in Round 1, which doesn't come up until after the sabertooth's rake. You can't take immediate actions while flat-footed, so I don't think it will be needed, regardless.
GM Wicked |
Otryggr and Eldgrimr are up!
Edit: disregard question about Ragnar's hp. Am dumb.
Eldgrímr Hallgrimsson |
Weird. I did not get updates for the last 3 posts of gameplay. Working on my post now.
GM Wicked |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
That is so wyrd! Ha! I've had a lot of coffee...
GM Wicked |
Thanks. Roll20 is up but I neglected to change the player view. It should be working now
GM Wicked |
It looks like Thyrnir healed you after the combat with the wolves. I just brought you back to full for my tracker.
GM Wicked |
Quoting an earlier Discussion post to help us decide what happens next:
Depending on how you want to do this, the module is fairly flexible. Basically, equipping, feeding, and recruiting the Ulnat will consume your resources (necessitating a bit of hunting), but will increase your forces when you assault the Second Temple.

GM Wicked |
Thyrnir, sound good. The "max out of combat healing" rule doesn't apply to this campaign, so we'll need to roll for those and other heals.
Þyrnir |
I am so confused.
Fervour: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 2) = 8
Channel: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 1) = 9
GM Wicked |
That rule is a house rule in place for Crimson Thone, but not for Northlands. The idea is for this game to be more of a lethal, "survival" game. At least in parts.
GM Wicked |
I'll be traveling today through the weekend. We'll return to our regularly scheduled programming next week!
