Bump. Which option do we choose?

GM Wicked |

I hope everyone is having as good a time as I am frolicking in the woods, and in the Northlands in general. Although we are missing Paizo's excellent artwork, and the intricate storyline of Crimson Throne, I think this AP has a lot going for it, and I appreciate everyone's time and efforts establishing a terrific campaign. I think we make a great team.
Speaking of Crimson Throne, we've passed the date by which Branding Opportunity expected to return to PbP, and as far as I know there's been radio silence from his end. Hopefully all is well, but it does raise the question of what to do with that game.
For Ramundr's benefit: From March 2016 through June 2017, I was GMing this group through a game of Curse of the Crimson Throne. We'd made it halfway through book 2 and Level 6 or so before I moved and switched jobs. Strapped for time and internet access, I left PbP for a time, and canceled all games (that's when I disappeared from Carrion Crown). The CotCT game had been enjoyable, however, and so a new GM was found who did well up until May of this year, when he also moved and changed jobs. He was expected to return in August.
I would love to resume CotCT. In theory, it's as easy as picking up where we've left off. In reality, I've also started Tsar, and GMing a third PbP game will be a large time commitment. I offer three options from which we might choose:
(1) Leave CotCT where it lies for the foreseeable future
(2) Pause the Northlands Saga and divert our time and energy to CotCT (Ramundr will be invited to play, of course).
(3) Continue with both Northlands and CotCT, but likely at a slower rate for both (I would divide my time between the two games as I'm able)
(4) Other...?

SubiculumHammer |

I would not mind transferring to a Crimson Throne game if people want to (thanks for invite). I'd need a week or two to generate a character, as work is brutal right now. So brutal that adding another campaign in addition to this Northlands (which is nice) is a no go for me.
I know that you started Tsar as the first you'd kill, but may I plead that you not? It is SO damn interesting. I'm already hooked on the setting.

GM Wicked |

Definitely understandable. Let's see what the others think. If it's the time involved in character-building that's the concern, I can whip up a statblock for your character in Hero Lab.
I don't plan to end Tsar at this time. All the options are based on the assumption that Tsar continue, even option 3.

Ragnar Hedefødt |

Hi all!
Sorry for my lacklustre presence for the past, well, a long time, and another apology to my former co-games at Tzar. I now solemnly swear to be on time for the foreseeable future.
My personal vote goes for the resurrection of CotCT. I greatly enjoy this game, but I adore the urban setting of CotCT greatly, and I find Garvid to be perhaps my favourite creation of all time.
That being said, I would also be happy regardless of what we choose, as every game is enjoyable with this crew!

Þyrnir |

I would love to continue CotCT, but I am enjoying this game as well.

Signe Oddvardottir |

I would love to return to CotCT, especially with Cal ready to come back (but I'm not sure if he's still available). I'm also really liking this game. I would vote for option #3 where we do both slowly :) But I would of course go along with whatever the group decides.

GM Wicked |

Then, we'll go with option #3, and I'll get up to speed on where we were and hope to get a post up this week sometime. Sub, you're invited to join us over there, though I understand if you'd rather not commit the time.

GM Wicked |

Glad to have you!
Here is the initial recruitment post, explaining build rules.
Here is my GM profile for that game, with extra information (though having played with me this far, you know how I do things).
You'll be coming in at Level 6, with 9,000 starting gold (we're behind wealth by level). We currently have an urban barbarian, unchained rogue, shaman, wizard, and potentially a bard if he returns. Again, if you know what class and options you're going for, I'd be glad to whip up the statblock in hero lab and PM it to you.

GM Wicked |

Busy work day leading into weekend. I may not be able to submit another GM post until Monday.

GM Wicked |

*Bump*
What's happening over in gameplay?

GM Wicked |

Thorvald's Gift is three days travel on foot. It sounds like you are taking Ivar's head. What do you do with the rest of the body?

Þyrnir |

Yeah, burn it.

GM Wicked |

Any final RP before returning and reporting to Tyra Olafswif in Halfstead?
It looks like we'll now be returning to the AP proper with NS1: Vengeance of the Long Serpent, wherein our heroes seek out vengeance for their slain jarl in the Far North. Conveniently, Elk-Running is also looking to return to that region, and so she could become a useful NPC, at least for the journey itself.
Note that since we accelerated our leveling for Oath of the Predator, it may be some time until we reach level 7.

GM Wicked |

I'm working on updating the loot list. Please take a moment to review it and claim any items. There are some nice items, including magical items, unclaimed!
Will Thyrnir claim the mwk speed seax?

Ramundr Æiþorn |

Ramundr would like the boots of striding. He only moves 20' which hurts.
Also the stone of luck is nice; Ramundr would take it no one else will (+1 luck bonus to saving throws).
Someone who carries more items should definitely have the bag of holding..someone who uses magical items.
We should keep the potions. Arguably Ramundr, with multiple attacks, would benefit most from the potion of heroism.
Ring of swimming seems like a good thing to keep if we are going on a voyage.
Signe, unless she has a better cloak, should probably have the elven cloak.

Þyrnir |

Yes please on the seax.

GM Wicked |

Any takers on the belt of teeth? Just want to make sure you know it's a magic item and not a mundane description :).

GM Wicked |

That belt is kind of a strange item. Do I read that right as allowing an additional AOO?
Correct.

Ótryggr Grímsson |

Might be good for Otrygrr, given his propensity for charging into the mix, and his high strength while raging? Plus teeth = barbarian frothy mouth, style-wise?

GM Wicked |

Last call to claim items on the loot sheet before distribution. I see many "should keep" notes with no one claiming those items. If no one claims them and adds them to their inventory, they will be liquidated sometime this weekend.
FYI I'll be travelling all day tomorrow and won't be able to update.

GM Wicked |

Thanks Sub! And now for the official distribution:
Ramundr claims:
-potion of cure serious wounds
-potion of cure light wounds
-potion of heroism
-stone of good luck
-boots of striding and springing
Þyrnir claims:
-mwk handaxe
-mwk dagger
-mwk speed seax (casts blink and invisibility 1/day each (CL 5)).
-potion of levitate
-mwk light wooden shield
-mwk longbow
-ring of swimming
Ragnar claims:
-potion of water breathing
-mwk returning spear
-bag of holding I
-wand of magic missile (CL 9) (8 charges)
Otryggr claims:
-ring of spell turning
-belt of teeth
Signe claims:
-a bunch of arrows
-efficient quiver
-cloak of elvenkind
In addition, each player receives a liquidation dividend of 1,836 hs from the remaining loot sold.
Please ensure that these items are accounted for in your personal inventory, whether you're tracking that in the Loot doc or in your character profile. I'll leave the current loot sheet for a day or two before wiping it clean for the upcoming adventure.

Þyrnir |

Someone should get that adamantine shortsword, I think.

Ótryggr Grímsson |

Here's the gear Otryggr's bringing for the trip:
30gp Large tent
5sp Blanket
1sp Bedroll
1sp Hammock
1sp fishook
2gp bear trap
5gp Rope
100gp Heatstone x5
5cp Candle x5
5cp Torch x5
5gp Rations x10
8gp Cold weather outfit
5gp Snowshoes
Otgyrr can carry the shortsword just in case we ever need it.

GM Wicked |

That's fine, though we need to adjust the numbers. Otryggr claims the adamantine short sword, and everyone instead adds 1,535 hs as their liquidation dividend (adjusted from above).

GM Wicked |

Lore (sailor's tales) works great here. Ramundr, note we're also looking for a DC 25 Profession (sailor) check to determine the success of this whale hunt.

GM Wicked |

Remember your hero points, if you'd like to use them.

Þyrnir |

Waiting for someone to throw a rope so that Þyrnir can resurface dramatically. =^.^=

Þyrnir |

Oops, I do have the ring of swimming! I was at work and didn't have the updated character profile from HeroLab, fixed now. That puts my swim check at 23.

GM Wicked |

That will put you safely aboard, no hero points needed!

GM Wicked |

Busy couple of days for me. I'll try to push forward tomorrow. Any further comment on Ramundr's new job title?
