The tree used its turn in the surprise round to release the spore cloud, which requires an immediate Will save. Your result on that save will determine if you're able to attack it during Round 1. Does that answer your question?

Question, GM:
Ragnar has Windy Escape as a spell. Could I have used it prior to the attack?
I understand that Immediate Action spells are iffy in PbP, but this seems like a situation where I'd try to use it. If not, that's fair, and I'll warn next time I'm in combat and I have a prior turn to clarify!
Also, apologies, I've been buried by work in the past, hm, month.

Sure, but I'm a little confused by the wording of the spell. It says the attack passes harmlessly through you, but only provides DR 10. Given it's first level, I suppose it will only reduce the damage dealt?

I think the DR would be fair, after all it is a first level spell. And it is a rather nasty tree!
I think now would be a good time to remember rule #3 of Adventuring - Always have a dagger. Which I don't.

So, please, remember to add Raging Song bonuses, and what they do - they can really help in some situations. And not adding them makes us bardically inclined individuals to be angry.
And you won't like us when we're angry.

GM - would Ragnar's bonus of +4 versus language-dependant effects help against the mind-reading? Skalds and names are kind of intertwined, but I'd understand if it doesn't!
You're right, and normally I'd allow it. But the particular ability at issue here is described as being independent of any common language, and so for now I'll rule the bonus doesn't apply.
I'll give the others a chance to respond before I push on.

Correct. Readied actions outside of combat simply translate into initiative.
Edit: also since I'm letting bless count for this fort save, you can use your bravery bonus as well.

Sounds right. Ouch!
Two attacks when full attacking, a third with rapid shot, and another for haste. The -2 from rapid shot and +1 from haste will net a -1 on the attack rolls.
Also note you're shooting through allies, which may penalize your shots (she's no longer flat footed).

As to shooting around allies, Signe also has Precise Shot which should help with that, no?
Precise shot helps when you have a clear shot to an enemy who's engaged in melee. As for shooting through others, enemies or allies, they create soft cover between you and your target and give your target +4 AC versus your shot (or -4 to the attack as I usually figure it). Improved Precise Shot will allow you to ignore penalties from shooting through obstacles, but that won't be an option for a while!

It's definitely appropriate! I do the same.
Nice work with the fen witch. I thought she had an interesting ability. She could probe the mind of anyone within 60 feet (subject to a Will save), and if successful learn their true name, regardless of language. Then, as a swift action, she could speak it, forcing the victim to succeed on another Will save or perish. Luckily Signe and Ragnar both made their saves!
