I love the plague doctor. Reminds me of Crimson Throne. Is that...is that a puppet?
Also, looking for Perception rolls...

Ramundr Æiþorn |

A viking lawn game. My bro played it and had fun:

GM Wicked |

@Ramundr, sorry I missed that somehow. HP updated.
Welcome back Otryggr! Please level up to 6 as soon as you can, as I'm just estimating your stats for now.

GM Wicked |

I'll be available this afternoon (EST) to move the game forward!

GM Wicked |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Mutated, tentacled squirrels who feast on living brains? Versus Northlanders? Yes, please!
God, I love Frog God games...

GM Wicked |

I've become quite the fan of Frog God, not only running this game, but also playing in a couple of Lost Lands campaigns.
I've also just acquired The Slumbering Tsar Saga. Typical of the publisher, this is an acclaimed, massive (950 pages) campaign setting that details exploration around and within the ruins of an ancient, war-torn city known as Tsar. It begins at level 7 and runs through level 20.
And while we wait to see the status of our Crimson Throne game, I would like to run it. Or part of it, anyway. As much as we can while my schedule permits (things look good for me through the end of the year).
Would any of you be interested in another game? Tsar is known to be a true meat grinder, a sandbox campaign that allows the players to stumble upon encounters that exceed their capabilities. Therefore, you would want to create expendable characters that could readily be replaced as needed. Posting rate would be the same as this game. Starting level 7, but with epic point buy (25).
Thoughts?

Ótryggr Grímsson |

Interested.
Even if my Otryggr leveling post was eaten by the gremlins.
My question (which was never posted) was what does the group think of my taking the rage power that allows me to share Reckless Abandon with all willing allies within 30 feet? Would you guys use that buff, +2 to hit, -2 to AC?

Ragnar Hedefødt |

Absolutely. I was a part of a meatgrinder campaign only oncr, and the party members cavorted behind the GM's back to take an ungodly amount of Teamwork Feats, so it ended up a normal campaign.
Sounds amazing, and the name of Tzar is right up my valley. (Or part of the world.)
The only thing that worries me is you as the GM overstretching running possibly three campaigns, but I've trust in your abilities!
EDIT: Otryggr: assuming the GM permits retraining, I'd be more than happy to switch my Surprise accuracy for Reckless Abandon, and you can change yours. I picked it up since I saw you taking it, but I don't think anyone has ever bothered to use it. *sad bard face*

GM Wicked |

I would agree with you Sub, unless there's some official ruling to the contrary. The bonus appears untyped and stackable.

Ótryggr Grímsson |

Ragnar, I don't think you'd have to untrain anything. It's simply a Rage Power that extends my Reckless Abandon to all allies within 30. So... pretty sweet?
Here's the power: http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/Barbarian/rage-powers/paizo-ra ge-powers/inspire-ferocity-ex
As for GM taking on more than he can chew, I think we've all gamed together long enough now to know that even when the pace slows down to a crawl and we downshift to second or first gear, we keep on chugging away until things open up once more. So I'd be happy to take the chance on a new campaign, and hell, if it doesn't work out, we can simply shutter one of them until another ends then open it back up for business.

GM Wicked |

The only thing that worries me is you as the GM overstretching running possibly three campaigns, but I've trust in your abilities!
I understand what you're saying. One of my favorite GMs (Sir Longears) attempted to run multiple games and just burned out. This is really an experiment to see how this type of campaign feels. If/When Crimson Throne needs a GM, that would become my priority, and Tsar would be the first thing to go. Until then, let's just see what happens!
Edit: retraining is fine!

Ragnar Hedefødt |

Gotcha!
Otryggr, about the retraining, the idea was that I give everyone the Rage Power by default, which would allow you to take two Rage Powers and still have Reckless Abandon, as long as I'd be singing.
Although, I guess you could reason that you've been inspired by the conversations about Wotan with Ragnar, and started to learn some skald/godi abilities by yourself!
All in all, that's just my opinion from a mechanical point of view!

Þyrnir |

I would use that rage power.
In terms of the Tsar game, meatgrinders are not my thing and I already have a lot on my plate in terms of gaming.

GM Wicked |

@Signe: since the bell net isn't a weapon, you'd take a -4 penalty for using an improvised weapon. However, if you can achieve a touch attack, you could effectively entangle one square of the swarm (they're 10' by 10'). I'd rule this as effectively cutting the swarm down to half its size.
Re swarms: You can safely move out of the swarm space without provoking, since they have a reach of 0'. You may want to move if you haven't already, as I currently see everything clustered together, standing in the midst of both swarms (generally not a good idea). The swarms will then provoke when re-entering your square. Also, these are tiny creatures, so they take full damage from bludgeoning weapons and half damage from piercing/slashing weapons.
Waiting to see if Otryggr and Thyrnir can get in on this round before advancing forward.

Ótryggr Grímsson |

Level up!
HP: 70
BAB: +6/+1
F/R/W: +5 +2 +2
Rage Power:
Trap Sense +2
Skills:
+1 Acrobatics/Perception/Survival/Intimidate
Background Skills:
+1 Farming/Geography
For my rage power I'm thinking of one that shares my Reckless Rage with every willing ally within 30. That'd grant you guys +2 to hit and -2 AC. You guys interested?

GM Wicked |

Ramundr, check your private messages re Tsar :). The site is being weird.

Signe Oddvardottir |

I'm really interested in Tsar but I don't think I can spare the time come fall when I get busy again so I'll have to pass. But thanks for the invite!
Regarding the bell net, totally understandable...thanks!
I still have company so my posting will be sparse until Friday.

GM Wicked |

Sounds good! The DC 18 applies...

Ragnar Hedefødt |

"Unweave what once was woven" is one hell of a tongue twister, as I found out when I tried to pronounce it! Don't know what the DC for Perform(Oratory) is on that one, but it's not an autopass for me.

GM Wicked |

I had to delete and edit my original post because I failed to take Otryggr's improved uncanny dodge into account.
At this level, combat begins to get more complicated, and I wonder if I shouldn't change the format for combat. Rather than rolling and attempting to resolve everything in one big gm post (and, often, get something wrong), I could simply roll NPC attacks and such, then let each individual player resolve that roll on your end. This would allow you to make better use of immediate actions. I could still keep up with hp and status as I'm doing now.
Anyone have thoughts on the matter?

Ótryggr Grímsson |

Hey guys, going to be traveling for the next two weeks. I should still be able to post, but posts may be more functional and to the point than is usually my wont.

GM Wicked |

The site has been down. Will update tomorrow!

GM Wicked |

@Ragnar: yes, this is out of combat healing. Elk Running can provide some healing as well.

GM Wicked |

That's a ring of spell turning, not storing ;).
Also, gotta love Otryggr.

Ragnar Hedefødt |

Oh! I thought it was thinking of the Ring of Counterspells. That's.... considerably better. I already got the spear, so if someone else wants the ring, I don't mind at all!

GM Wicked |

Well that was unexpected! We now return to our regularly scheduled programming.

Signe Oddvardottir |

Would the DC be too high if Signe were to shoot at the shadowy figure? I assume that they would have partial cover from the shadows but it may be worth taking the shot.

Signe Oddvardottir |

Does a ranger need to know what they're fighting in order to get their favored enemy bonuses? I doubt that the shadowy figure is human considering how much time has past but if they are human, would Signe get her +2 to attack and damage even though she doesn't know for sure that they're human? Just curious.

GM Wicked |

I've set up a discord channel, linked in my tagline, in case we run into another communication blackout. We can also just chat.

GM Wicked |

*bump*
Looking for some combat posts to advance the round :).
