Yes, the logging camp is part of Thorvald's Gift. Tyra could not say how Bóthvarr was injured, though the circumstances suggest it was done by some sort of wild animal.

Hey guys - I was quite busy over the weekend, and I'll be travelling during the week. I'll try and get something up on the evenings, but it's bound to be short.
I'll definitely be trying to get a post here as soon as I can, though. Forest beasts and stuff, after all.

GM Wicked |

It's alright, post when you can. I don't intend to move as quickly as I have in the past.

Þyrnir |

My schedule is extremely busy in the next few days as I juggle work events and the start of Ramadan. Feel free to bot me if I am being a bottleneck.

GM Wicked |

Hi guys! Just a heads up that as the weather warms up my availability desire to sit at the computer will decrease, meaning that my posting rate will slow. If last year is an indication, things will speed up again as the weather turns cooler. I will aim for 1-2 posts a week minimum, but don't be alarmed if you aren't seeing updates quite as often.

GM Wicked |

I've put a link to info about inspired rage in my tagline. Hopefully this will be a helpful reminder about what the ability offers, and to use it. With a such a martial party, this group represents a terrific opportunity for a rarely-seen class to really shine.

Ragnar Hedefødt |

I thought that that was in character for Ragnar, although I (somewhat) feel like I need to apologise for, hm, bossing Otryggr around.
Then again, as a Barbarian, he would probably understand Wotan's call and his reasons a little more than the rest, and I felt like Ragnar would like to share more of Wotan's ideals to him.
That, and the binding to a tree to get wisdom is a pretty cool idea!

Ótryggr Grímsson |

Ha! Don't apologize. Great scene, and Ragnar's earned enough of Otryggr's respect by this point to give him those kinds of commands when it comes to matters supernatural.

Þyrnir |

Otryggr, did you also write Chronicles of the Black Gate? I picked up the first 3 books on Ameowzon and started reading the first one.

GM Wicked |

I do not plan to track rations. We can assume the town will provide sufficient food.

Þyrnir |

Oh.
So many questions about things.
Also, your books got me reading again. I used to be a *huge* reader ever since I was 6 years old. I would *devour* stacks of books all throughout school and highschool (slowed down a bit once I got more access to video games and teh internetz). Then last year I hit a patch of depression and stopped reading.

Ótryggr Grímsson |

Strangely enough, I don't read much fiction anymore either. I'm mostly non-fiction these days for research purposes. Feel free to shoot me as many questions as you'd like - maybe via PM so we don't clutter up the OOC thread?
Also, I'm just realizing I never leveled up Otryggr :P

GM Wicked |

Agreed, and PLEASE feel free to fill this discussion forum with Q&A if that suits you. I'm super interested in all of this.
Also, I forgot to mention that roll20 is updated, in case anyone is wondering.

GM Wicked |

With the movement penalty, one square of movement costs four. I.e. everything, including your enemy, is moving at quarter-speed.
Otryggr could use a double move to approach the vlkodlak, but could not attack this round. Regardless, you can save that roll (which hits) for your next turn.

GM Wicked |

Woops, the map should be fixed.

Ragnar Hedefødt |

I have to say, I completely agree about hanging out with a real fantasy author is cool. Though, I told myself my *squee*-ing days are behind me.
The books are already on my Amazon list, and I'm just waiting for a nice Kindle deal to pick them up. (And less work, too. I've been on at least 10 hours of overtime a week for more than a month...)

Ótryggr Grímsson |

You guys! I'm chuffed that you appreciate what I do, but I've been a gamer first and foremost since... 8th grade, when I started playing Middle Earth Role Playing, and that's how I think of myself. Plus no joke diet coke you guys are all amazing writers, which is what makes this game so good - if anything I've just devoted more time to putting those words down and making the effort to self publish.
Anyways.
For sure: Otryggr double moves then attacks next round :)

Ramundr Æiþorn |

I was looking at your Kickstarter. I'd am interested in going for a hard cover, but gonna have to explain it to ma woman somehow :) Might have to settle with a trade paperback.
I also like illustrations in my fantasy novels. One that stood out to me growing up was Sword of Shannara, which had some really nice paintings. You found some nice illustrators for you new book series so that is great!
Reminds me a bit of work my brother in law does both in sketches and in sculpture. https://www.facebook.com/joshhardie999/

Ramundr Æiþorn |

I have a question for you Otryggr the author.
I am also an author, but of research reports. I've completed a number of papers, but one of my primary struggles is that the closer I am to finishing a paper, the harder it becomes for me to work on it. I become really distractable. It is most disabling and pathological.
You've completed a number of books. Do you experience this kind of thing when you are getting near finishing a novel, and do you have strategies to over come procrastination distractability?
Edit: Me writing this is, in fact, me procrastinating from writing.

Ótryggr Grímsson |

I think this round I just whack at the beast with my last set of rolls, right?
Ramundr: Wish I had some magical trick for staying the course. In the end it's just come down to bloody minded determination. If anything, I the middle is the toughest part for me; as I close in on the end I build momentum and usually enjoy writing the climax so much that it's not too much of a problem to cross the finish line.
A good trick to make yourself write however is to use the following three tools: the pomodoro method (write for timed 25 minute stretches), the Freedom app (blocks the internet for a set duration of time) and Brain.fm for music that helps you focus. Hope that helps!

Ramundr Æiþorn |

Thanks for the suggestions; I've tried some of them. And yeah..it comes down to determination...hardcore.
What it comes down to me it seems, is that I've got to feel a bit of desperation first before I write effectively. Stress I mean. Once I begin feeling desperate I begin to write. Not the most healthy. Also, for some reason I find that I write the most effectively between 10PM and 2 AM (not the greatest hours as a lifestyle), at which time I've given up on and exhausted all my distractions (not many new posts on Paizo at 1 AM Pacific.
In research the funnest part is doing analysis. The writing part is homework...its not the fun kind of writing. It is like this: Significant interactions were found between changes in anterior and posterior entorhinal cortex and age at time 1 (χ2 = 8.19, df =2, p =.017); see Supplemental Table 6 for parameter estimates.
Riveting.
Like novels however, these aren't things you bang out in a week. Study design, data collection, and analysis can take years. By the time you write, you are pretty bored with the whole thing.
Anyway, I appreciate the encouragement, and am happy to report that I reached my point of desperation, and began writing again. Also, I promised myself a new computer once I finish.

GM Wicked |

Otrggyr: yes but you may need to move into melee range, which may provoke. See terrain rules above.

Signe Oddvardottir |

It's easy to look competent when you have three, make that four, meat shields between the ranged fighter and the enemy...but thanks :)

Ramundr Æiþorn |

Not a bad round for Signe!
I sure hope that the 30% cover does take them away. :(
I went ahead and did the cover rolls on Ramundr's post, because it seemed like GM was hinting for us to make those rolls.

Ramundr Æiþorn |

Am I right in thinking that there is no way to make a melee attack? Two reach it I would have to do a double move, forgoing an attack and provoking an So I?

GM Wicked |

Its speed is 40ft, so with a full withdraw (double move) it could move 4 squares, even with the heavy undergrowth penalty. It will almost certainly outrun you, so I suppose chasing it depends on whether you want to try tracking it.

GM Wicked |

Yep Signe can fire, still suffering from the heavy undergrowth concealment.
@Ragnar: It's still over 60% health, if that makes a difference.
