A blackish liquid begins to spray with force from around the sarcophagus.
damage: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 1) = 12
con: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 5) = 13

"It seems to be the choice we have. " and he heads down the stairs, staying close to Rey to remain invisible.
Just so everyone is clear: the sarcophagus is lowering and the black spray is coming from around the base. You figure it's the black liquid from the pool that surrounds the ship. There are no steps going down. Furthermore, the steps leading out of the hold have vanished. Omar has disabled the trap leading into the false bottom of the coffin but nobody has opened the false bottom yet. You all figured the destroying of Majalor was most likely the trigger to the spray trap.
Reyondelee |
Fort Save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
Well fork a duck.
As the caustic black spray hits Reyondelee, her fragile form succumbs to the aggressively weakening damage, and her life expires.
That's right people, this tomb just claimed the life of the bard. Con of 10, con damage of 13 = instant death. Ah well, 'twas fun while it lasted. Enjoy the rest of the tomb.

Sargon will go invisible

Omar opens the flase bottom in Majalor's coffin and he finds compartment, and within the compartment there is a bag filled with gold and platium, a wooden case contianing a carved jade tiles (an ancient game), a pair of guantlets, and three mundane weapons - a dagger, hand axe, and sap. There is also a small polished redwood box that contains runed infused oval stones taht appear to fit the secret door in the main room.
There is an inscription in Taalese on the floor of small compartment.
"Death waits beneath this lid,
Watery doom in here is hid.
The key you'll find,
when in a bind."
Sargon The War Sage |
Sargon slaps his head I am truly an idiot He then pulls out a diamond and casts Limited Wish to duplicate Raise Dead
Dragox |
"Alright we have the stones to get us out of the main room. Question is, how do we get out of here? Anyone with a good idea?"
Spell casters, how are you on your spells? This might be a solid spot to rest, if we need one more break before trying to finish.

** spoiler omitted **
Omar you would see there is another smaller compartment within the compartment. It has the inscription listed in the spoiler. Essentially it is a compartment within a compartment.

I will never understand why baddies feel an urge to leave riddleclues
baldwin the merciful |
I'll assume Omar opens the lid after Sargon reveals the riddle.
There compartment is filled nearly elbow deep with the same liqid that sprayed on Rey. Omar figures it's the valve to turn off the liquid but get to the valve it appears that you'll need to touch the liquid. There is also a sealed metal box next to the valve.
Note: The gauntlets you just found are oil slick and appear water tight.
baldwin the merciful |
The guantlets slip easily onto Omar's hands, the oily waterproof leather feels like a new skin. Omar plugs his hands into the liquid and he easily turns the valve off. The small compartment drains.
Sargon and Dragox you notice the stairs reappear leading out of the hold.
Omar are you doing anthing with the metal box that is next to the valve?
baldwin the merciful |
No traps but your figured that since it was sitting in a pool of nasty liquid.
There is potion within the box (magical), a bluish-green gem (magical), a jade and ivory ring 420 gp, a solid platinum statuette of a fanged elephant bearing an ivory palanquin on its back. The palanquin has a little latched door and contains 20 turquoise stones worth 20 gp each. The elephant is worth 5,975 gp. Inscribed on the elephant's belly in Taalese: "Walk beneath dead Jaiku's face, this beast reveals the hidden place."
Sargon The War Sage |
Sargon heads out.
Walk beneath dead Jaiku's face, this beast reveals the hidden place.
Sargon muses as he looks around
Omar bin Zayed |
He will take the gloves off (since he generally wears his deliquescent gloves for combat).
"Sargon, can you identify if these are magical gloves or something?" and hands them over.

Dragox grabs Rey like a sack of potatoes and slings her over his left shoulder. The group quickly moves up the steps out of the hold. There a a rush of emotion hits the group as you each stare at the fallen comrade. Hoping she comes back from the afterlife.
I'll give Rey another day to check her email before pushing forward.
baldwin the merciful |
Dragox pokes Rey's body a few more times then his bushy eyebrows raise as h consideres all the loot she is wearing and how many troops it could supply fighting demons.
Once her body is thoroughly relieved of it's possessions the group walks the elephant under the face and it becomes clear that oval stones go into the wall across the cavernous room. The elephant reviews the proper placement of oval stones.
baldwin the merciful |
Sure you would. Look at her character sheet.
This actually would be a good place to slip in a remove curse potion. So, we can add that boon to the potions that she is carrying. That will help out Omar although he doesn't know the item is cursed yet that will realization will occur after round one of the next combat.
baldwin the merciful |
I'm going to assume that you looted and divided Rey's gear up amongst yourselves.
With the four correct oval stones in hand, Omar puts them in their correct placement. At first nothing happens but after a full minute os waiting, the sound of stone grinding on stone echoes throughout the chamber. It then takes 24 seconds, for a 10-foot section of wall to sink into the ground flush with the floor. The four inscribed oval stones are crushed to powder in the process.

The walls of this twenty-foot-square chamber depict a grisly scene. Dozens of animal-headed humans struggle to break free of strangling vines as thorns that tear hungrily at their flesh. Above this disturbing image hangs a faded red banner of silk, embroidered over and over with the four mud sorcerer symbols. The floor is made of red, green, and gold ceramic tiles.
A large, deep green tapestry hangs suspended from the center of the ceiling fifteen feet above, shimmering like a dragonfly's wings. Four brass bowls filled with bluish coals hang four feet off the floor, dangling from delicate chains attached to the corners of the ceiling. A dozen stoppered clay urns line the north and south walls, each bearing the picture of an animal-headed humanoid.
A great black iron portal stands in the center of the east wall. This entire surface of the door is covered with complex etchings of various glyphs, although only the four mud sorcerer symbols are recognizable. There is a two-foot diameter spherical cavity in the center of the door. The main feature of this room, however, is the sarcophagus.
Seven feet long, three feet wide, and four feet high, the sarcophagus is made of the purest white marble, its sides carved to depict intertwining snakes and thorny roses. the lid has a bas relieve carving of an elephant-headed humanoid wearing an exquisite splint-mail breastplate, its arms crossed over its chest. In one hand its holds a smooth oval stone, carved with the first mud sorcerer symbol. A stheathed bastard sword is at its side. the head protrudes from the lid more than the rest of its form, the curling trunk, sharp tusks, fanged maw, and evil, cunning eyes all carved in great detail.
Dragox |
Not much of Rey's gear will do me nay good. I have a similar belt and headband. I could use some of the potions, I suppose.
Sargon The War Sage |
How many sarcophagus' have we seen again, I wonder what nasty surprise awaits us
Would Sargon recognize the bas-relief as Tzolo?
