Sargon The War Sage |
Sargon turns invisible and keep an eye on the room waiting for the inevitable
Perception: 1d20 + 26 ⇒ (5) + 26 = 31
Will you move me down to the corner
Dragox |
Dragox renews his Greater Magic Weapon spell. He then casts Protection from Evil. Finally, just as Omar finishes his search, he casts Death Ward which lasts 14 minutes.

Omar moves into the room and begins his close examination of the tomb. While he carefully looks things over, Sargon turns himself invisible and moves into a corner. Dragox gets his two of the three spells casts when...
A gutteral whisper issues forth from the chamber. "Grave robbers! Defilers! Thou hast violated my tomb! I, the indomitable Tzolo, will have my revenge! Thou shalt all perish!" Immediately there afterwards, a high pitched buzzing sound issues from within the room, and the green tapestry hanging from the ceiling tears, seeming to unravel into a grotesque cloud of buzzing insects.

Sargon The War Sage |
*Sargon is this the corner you wanted to be moved into? Grid cooridinates would help.
It is thanks
Where in the room is the green tapestry?
baldwin the merciful |
The walls of this twenty-foot-square chamber depict a grisly scene. Dozens of animal-headed humans struggle to break free of strangling vines as thorns that tear hungrily at their flesh. Above this disturbing image hangs a faded red banner of silk, embroidered over and over with the four mud sorcerer symbols. The floor is made of red, green, and gold ceramic tiles.
A large, deep green tapestry hangs suspended from the center of the ceiling fifteen feet above, shimmering like a dragonfly's wings. Four brass bowls filled with bluish coals hang four feet off the floor, dangling from delicate chains attached to the corners of the ceiling. A dozen stoppered clay urns line the north and south walls, each bearing the picture of an animal-headed humanoid.
A great black iron portal stands in the center of the east wall. This entire surface of the door is covered with complex etchings of various glyphs, although only the four mud sorcerer symbols are recognizable. There is a two-foot diameter spherical cavity in the center of the door. The main feature of this room, however, is the sarcophagus.
Seven feet long, three feet wide, and four feet high, the sarcophagus is made of the purest white marble, its sides carved to depict intertwining snakes and thorny roses. the lid has a bas relieve carving of an elephant-headed humanoid wearing an exquisite splint-mail breastplate, its arms crossed over its chest. In one hand its holds a smooth oval stone, carved with the first mud sorcerer symbol. A stheathed bastard sword is at its side. the head protrudes from the lid more than the rest of its form, the curling trunk, sharp tusks, fanged maw, and evil, cunning eyes all carved in great detail.
Sargon, I bolded the location in the room description.

Sargon's Rule #64: When stocking up, assume every dungeon has a rust monster, a troll, a doppelganger, an incorporeal creature, and SWARMS.
It seems I violated my own rule
Sargon casts Limited Wish to duplicate
Intensified, Empowered Fireball 6th level spell: 12d6 + 12 ⇒ (5, 1, 3, 6, 4, 2, 2, 3, 1, 3, 4, 6) + 12 = 52x 1.5= 78 Ref 21

Actually if it's a swarm that's 117(Ref 21) for half

The tapestry begins to transform. It takes a full round for the transformation to be complete so they can attack. You each will get an action. Omar you figure there has to be a way around it similar to disarming a trap. Omar you notice the brass bowls filled with bluish coals hang four feet off the floor, dangling from delicate chains attached to the corners of the ceiling.

Sargon you begin to recognize the underlying spell that was released. insect spell. By the number of swarms that begin to appear you figure it an extremely high caster.
Dragox |
Dragox pulls out the wand of cute critical wounds that Rey carried with her. "I need one of you to heal me," he whispers, blistered from the intense heat.
Dragox |
Oh no! None of us have UMD to use the wand. Teo possible courses of action...1 I use all my remaining LOHs for the day and we rest and I top off with them tomorrow, or 2 I basically use all the potions we can scrap together to heal me up. What do the rest of you think?
Sargon The War Sage |
Sargon uses a limited wish to cast Breath of Life on Dragox
Breath of Life: 5d8 + 12 ⇒ (2, 6, 6, 4, 7) + 12 = 37
Dragox |
Dragox takes Rey's brooch of Shielding and pins it on his Armor. He also takes the two potions of Barkskin +4 and the three potions of Fly. "Sorry Rey, but I need these much more than you right now."

Omar as you begin to search the sarcophagus you spot three things: first you notice there are dozens of tiny caltrops on the floor between the sarcophagus and the back wall. Those caltrops nearly blend into the floor coloring. Second, the red banner that hangs over the sarcophagus survived the intense fireball without a scorch and that seems unusual to you. Third, the bas-relief carving was not damaged to your keen eye during the fireball. Other than the caltrops you don't detect any "traps" but that's not saying there isn't some creepy magic in the tomb.
Of course, this assumes you are not touching anything except the floor with your feet.
Sargon The War Sage |
Sargon will fly over invisibly and gently kick a caltrop to see if it is embedded in the ground or if they can be removed.
Dragox |
"Sargon, drop that banner to cover the caltrops. See if it resists the sharpness of the caltrops. If it does, we can walk right over."
Sargon The War Sage |
I would rather not mess with that banner, it resisted a rather large blast
Sargon casts Elemental Body I turning into a small air elemental and begins blowing the caltrops neatly into a corner
baldwin the merciful |
Omar is ever so cautious convinces himself it's safe to touch the lid of the sarcophagus to get it open. There is no other way inside.
When he touches it everyone is blown backward and off their feet. This might covers all directions of approach. As soon as the this occurs, the elephant-headed humanoid begins to take on a fleshier, grayish hue.
Sargon The War Sage |
Sargon still invisible tells the group. It's a wall of force, I should be able to take it down whenever your ready
Sargon casts haste
baldwin the merciful |
Sargon finishes his haste spell, while Dragox casts his death ward spell. Omar's steady fingers pluck the bow as the creature stands, stretches and glares menacingly at the intruders. His eyes glance at Dragox first, then Omar, but ultimately they stop at the invisible General. He is holding a bastard sword and wearing splint mail. He takes a protective warrior stance, feet wide and his body perfectly aligned for battle.

I also put in a token to represent the caltrop debris that Sargon blew into the the far corner.

Of course I have cursed gloves on, so this isn't actually the case.
Sargon The War Sage |
Sargon flies to the top of the room.
If I can't get out of range by height alone, I will float over on top of Dragox
Using Metamagic Adept(Bloodline Power) to make the casting a standard action. Sargon casts Persistent Acid Pit(Ref 26)
Fall: 7d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 5, 2, 5, 5, 2) = 25
Acid: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 5) = 9
Dragox |
Seeing the pit open up in front of him, Dragox holds his action. If the creature avoids the pit, Dragox moves to it, declaring his Smite attack and throwing down.
