I'm with you, if we keep working on this, it won't go stale. Just was going to wait on Tumbler a bit.
I've been thinking about Jacob's spell selection, recently. He's really generally specced out to be a warmage. Maybe we could have a flashback where we have some sort of combat going on? That would probably fall within Tumbler's domain again, though, but it would be a way to keep things moving without bringing in too much new stuff?
aceDiamond
Out of curiosity, would anyone mind if I had a flashback scene sometime in the future where Jacob would be involved in binding a powerful entity of some sort? I was thinking about the possibility of containing a devil terrorizing a city or some such, but I just wanted to make sure it didn't sound over the top before I started putting words down on the subject.
I just got hit with some inspiration and thought that a band of hired bards and/or a sorcerer with the Maestro bloodline could put on a concert to stop a terrible threat and Jake would be around to cast the Wish to actually get the binding into action. Just a silly thought, but it sounds cool in my head. Thoughts?

So long as you aren't trying to mess with the given timelines and histories, I don't have a problem to a flashback to when you already bound a devil (and disposed of it).
Flashing forward though...
If you want to make a go at round robin, build your demon and start terrorizing a town, the rest of us will go stop it.
You are already powerful enough to have done that, and it is up to you to decide how long you have been powerful enough to do it.

Wow. I am back once again. I can't foresee any more problems. I took a trip last week expecting internet access and had basically none.
I don't need to have anything happen to Jake at his shop. As for those missing, it would be ok if we continue without them. Characters of this level are mobile enough that they can catch up pretty much at will.
Or we can diverge if that is preferable.
Validk Ghujod
no need for round robin posting, just post something, anything...
I was talking DMing.
So, do we want to keep this strictly Golarion, or can we have excursions to other worlds?
I recall that the original premise would be a search for immortality, so having to find various items, or just tracking down different myths and stories about immortality would give us a reason to visit or places, and then leave them.
Validk Ghujod
Be careful of a flashback adventure though. Because, obviously, we can't die in the adventure, otherwise it isn't a flashback.
Does everyone have where any followers or other organizational facilities are located on Golarion or elsewhere?
Hmm, that gives me an idea of having one of the demiplane portals going to Shadow Absolom.
I'm about ready to start dropping in some information to kick off the next module.
And it looks like Ophelia, GMV, and ace are still here?
aceDiamond
I'm currently writing this on my iPad, but I'll copy and paste I anything relevant to my profile in a moment.
Unless he's entertaining his friends in Absalom, Jacob would be crafting. I'd assume his networks of shops would possibly be able to get a hold of him through potions of Sending in an emergency. Plus, Jake would either deliver some items himself or send them via courier.
Like I said, I'm not the most knowledgeable when it comes to the Golarion campaign setting, so I haven't yet chosen nah shop locations other than Absalom. Anyone have suggestions? Cheiax? Taldor? Qadria? Maybe even Mendev from what this wiki is showing me.
Please let me now if you need more info, Fnord.
DM Fnord
Anything that you plan on having available that is a direct impact for your character should be accounted for on your character sheet.
Can't make potions of sending (4th level cleric spell). If you have sufficient followers of 7th level you could have them as divine casters spread around.
There is a wiki that provides a lot of information about Golarion.
What are you going to be crafting, and where at? Do you have the feats and raw materials?
Please note that having "magic shops" doesn't give you a free source of materials and items, it still needs to be reconciled against your total wealth.
I'm fine with using downtime rules. Especially for things like determining income from businesses.
However, to do that, I would expect to see that the rules for building the businesses had been followed and were noted on the character sheets. (Validk is not yet done with that process).
Since we are starting from scratch on this, it would also have to be the cash starting price. Going forward, expanding existing units or developing new ones can use the alternative resource methods in Ultimate Campaign (and on d20pfsrd).
You have one gate from the demi-plane to a place on Golarion, that can be one of your existing business locations. To get to other locations you may need to either use teleport spells, or build permanent teleport circles (they cost 23,500 gold each).
Any existing building locations may be assumed to be familiar to you for the purpose of teleporting.
These ideas are open to discussion.

Just some thoughts:
1) I could have sworn that followers from leadership were NPCs only.
2) Turns out that Longstrider is a Personal spell! I guess I kept tossing it on my animal companions so much that I assumed it would work on others. Doesn't really matter much for Mira since she can fly at will.
3) So we're starting over again with Fnord as the DM? In that case, I would like to readjust my gear. Mira has too little for her level while Nagato probably has a little too much.
4) If Mind Blank permits it, Nagato is usually reachable through Sending.
aceDiamond
Weird, I could've sworn that an alchemist I played with once had Sending as a third level extract. Sorry, Fnord. I'll look for alternative methods to reach him.
Also, I was thinking of keeping Jacob's wealth and the worth of the shop as separate. So in essence, he'd be enhancing a +1 sword or some such with the shop's money and the shop gets the profit for itself. Mostly, it's flavor text, as this system would prevent me from getting more than half price of selling an item.
But if you'd want the store and wealth to come from the same amount, I can dig it. Could build a nice shield or piece of armor with cash on hand. Or a slightly less nice weapon. I'm thinking a +1 bec de corbin or spear. Someone may want that.
Think I'll have Jake burn Greater Teleports to make deliveries to other shops. I couldn't afford permanent Teleportation Circles. Anyways, if we'll be rebuilding, what's going to happen when people come back?
DM Fnord
I would like to make clear up front, that when I write up these guidelines, they are my perspective, if you don't agree, lets discuss it. I would rather have a consensus and compromise than to have someone unhappy, or to be changing rules with each DM.
crafting for fluff is fine. In fact i'm pretty much good with almost anything for fluff that doesn't change cannon Golarion, and doesn't provide any mechanical benefit to a player.
Once it provides a mechanical benefit, then it needs to be accounted for.
For instance, I'm paying the cost for my organization from my personal funds. I expect that I can call on those establishments for information, shelter, etc because I've paid for it. My magic academy has a bunch of caster students I can occasionally call on. The wands they use for me are paid for from my funds. If they are also my followers via leadership, then I could also call on their base abilities.
As for Nagato's comment regarding leadership followers, I don't recall anything specific to this campaign, please give me a link. In general I have always worked with followers as being background resources. Inn keepers, personal caregivers for residences, ship keepers, spies, crafters, traveling circus, ballet troupe, etc.
The player could make general requests, though the GM had say on how well those requests were filled. The cohort was generally more closely under the control of the player.
I do recall that a cohort is equipped from the player's basic funds, while followers were equipped according to the npc table.
I do apologize for writing you out of the current scene Nagato, I thought you were on hiatus, feel free to correct that.
As for "rebuilding" we've had an encounter and people have gotten an opportunity to see how their characters worked out. Some minor editing is fine with me, though I'd prefer to stay away from significant rebuilding. Change a feat, or a spell, move a couple of skill ranks, change out some gear. I'm good with that based on the experience from the first encounter. Changing race/class, major portions of the innate character, not so much.
Gear is relatively easy to change. (Wish could change a +5 longsword into a +5 crossbow, etc)
So, at 25th level we have 68,700,000 experience, and our experience needed for 26th level is 67,200,000.
A spawn of ravogug is? Tarrasque is CR 25 and worth 1,638,400, split 5 ways. Means a lot of work to get to 26.

Heya. First, I think I'll give you guys an update.
Sorting out real life has been rough. A few days after my last message, another person close to the family died. This one was rather unexpected as well.
On a personal level, I am doing much better now. Just the last 2 months have been... a trail, to say the least.
I'm happy to see this game is still going, and that you guys have found a cool way to continue. While I may not be able to be online every day, I feel like I should be able to start getting back into the swing of things for real this time.
This is just a quick update for now though. If I'm not in the current scene, that's cool. I still need to flesh out more details in Sir Orrin's background anyways.
Thank you all of your patience and understanding.
Nagato the Eternal
Still around and getting back into things. Luckily, some of my other campaigns have slowed down or ended, so I can concentrate on the epic level one.
I have been looking into making Nagato Monk 4/Druid 21 to get access to ki and grab a couple of other goodies. I will look to see if it is worth losing a few levels of spellcasting.
As for NPC class only followers, it seems that I am wrong in that regard. Interesting. One of my other DMs did it that way, and I must have read the feat text to match his interpretation.
Edit: Good to have Sir Orrin back! :D

Makes sense to me, Fnord. I was just thinking that the shop would be a separate entity of finance since if it was all out of Jacob's pocket, he wouldn't have decked himself out in quite so much magic bling. I suppose I could rebuild his spending, but I'll need some time for that. And another examination of the downtime rules and building prices. But if you're looking for minor changes, I'll try to make them light.
Pirate, good to see you're doing better. We'll be here if you need us.
aceDiamond
CDL, while you're reformatting, remember the debacle we had over the summer for Nagato's body wraps? I think I found a go around here. It's all up to the current GM, but it's an idea.
aceDiamond
Create 36 Goods, 1 Influence, 33 Labor, 1 Magic (1,510 gp)Rooms 1 Artisan's Workshop, 1 Lavatory, 1 Office, 1 Reliquary, 1 Vault, 1 Storefront, 1 Sewer Access (Iron door)
I think I got it all to work. Maybe I'll add Furnishings or switch it with the workshop, seeing as most the main crafting would be done within Absalom.
How would guards or employee crafters work? Could I pull them in from Leadership?
DM Fnord
I'm playing with myself, so I may not have it right the first time around.
(we're not yet at the point of starting downtime (going through the phases) but once everyone has their initial operations determined we can start.
Rooms are purchased to make buildings.
A building is a business
A business will have a building and an organization.
Teams are purchased to make organizations
Unless you will be visiting each business once a week, a manager is needed extending visit times to once every two weeks.
Followers (from leadership) do provide additional benefits.
So aceDiamond's building might have an Artisan Guild organization:
Create 8 Goods, 10 Influence, 14 Labor (740 gp)
Teams 1 Bureaucrats, 2 Craftspeople, 2 Laborers
Artisans and assistants who create quality goods.
aceDiamond
Organizations, eh? Well, that seems interesting. I'll need to check out the downtime page again after I get off work, but I think I could do something with this. Though the addition of new sources of spending mean I aught to pinch some pennies a bit. Maybe.
Also, Fnord, Jacob's alignment would prevent such a thing, so I'll petition this idea to you for NPCs. If we have such a sprawling organizational playing field without an association of "legitimate businessmen", I'd think we may miss something wonderful.
DM Fnord
Sorry, not sure I'm following you there. Jacob is CG. The chaotic part might mean that he uses the business as a front to smuggle goods under/around local laws. Doesn't necessarily mean he is opposed to owning a business.
And if it did mean he was opposed to owning a business, you might need to rethink the chain of businesses he owns.
I'm using the downtime rules to get a feel for them and that they provide a consistent baseline for having an organization.
Validk has leadership.
He has an organization (The Odysseus Foundation).
Using the downtime rules I'm putting together several buildings. Then I'll staff those buildings with teams.
I plan on setting it up so the "revenue" is pretty much used to maintain the organization and otherwise develop the communities in each location.
My desired "mechanical" benefit is to have sources of information (DM hooks). I really don't need places to rest what with the spells I have available.
And for me, it passes the time, and I can use what I'm learning here in my other games.
