Actually, looks like the server's time got out of sync and Google wasn't allowing logins. Should be fixed now.
And don't be afraid to send me an email or ping the @DungeonGrid twitter account if you see problems, guys! :)

Having barely escaped an Orc invasion our intrepid heroes, still battered and wounded, immediately enter a foreboding cave that they know is occupied by some unfriendly creature. By combining their might they manage to shoot and swat at the air enough to earn them some pretty hefty and embarrassing achievements. Finally, despite all odds, they emerge victorious, bankrupting several prominent gambling houses in the process.
I know one of you mentioned rest, but I expect you'll ignore basic needs and rush back into the night in order to throw yourselves at the nearest dangerous looking creature you can find. :p
P.S. My group seems like it'll be heading in Port Elam's direction eventually for some potion ingredients. We'd like it cleaned up and in working order by the time we get there. Thanks. :p x2

Personally, I think it's hilarious that I landed the only hit in the first half of our battle. With a torch.
And then, after so many misses, we dispatch our enemies with OHKs, one after the other.
Oh, and no promises about Port Elam. If the Orcs haven't retreated yet, I recommend waiting for winter.

One thing I'm interested in, on a story and character arc level, is: Why will this four person troop stick together after this night?
All four signed a contract to find the Silver Scale and any info related to it, to keep Moss*, the scale, and each other safe, and to deliver the scale to the Andal family in Port Elam or some other agreed upon location. With the death of Moss, and the party's collection of his items including their payments, I find it a bit hard to believe all four would want to continue with the quest.
- Quick' probably would continue on, seeing as he had great respect for the silver dragon and learned that recovering the scale would mean it's protection.
- Henry Southgard seems like a deal maker and a shrewd doer, but not perhaps someone who would continue into danger, especially not when he has, in effect, already been paid. I read him as someone who would look for new sources of revenue now.
- Gorim Coppervein, I see as having a good bit of loyalty to the other three for saving his life and getting him out of the city when they could have just left him behind. He also seemed agreeable to joining up with a group of adventures from the beginning, but he didn't show much interest in the scale or quest and actively voiced a bit of unrest at the idea of facing cultists. I figure he'd stick with one of the others if the group split... not sure which one though...
- And Gwath Gil is a sea pirate on shore leave looking to make some money. He seems agreeable enough, for a half-orc, but at this point doesn't seem to have any strong loyalties to the party or quest.
Obviously, splitting the party here would wreck havoc with the story, and I'm not suggesting it be done, but I would love to see and hear their reasonings for continuing on. Maybe they hope for bigger payment from the Andal family or from loot gained at the site of the Silver Scale? Maybe they do it to fulfill their contract? Maybe they do it out of respect for the dragon the scale came from?
Anyway, just some thoughts from me. It's been a great story so far, and I can't wait to see what happens next. :)
* Technically, I think y'all already violated the terms of your contract and owe the Andal family a debt of 100 gold each since you failed in "...protecting the interests of the Andal Family (including the agent..." :p

Quick' |

Quick has secrets. If you could read his full back story....
He is not going anywhere :)
I will tell you this: He is a sorcerer due to his draconic bloodline. :)
Good questions though Ragashingo.
Also, there has to be some suspension of disbelief in these situations :)
Also, also: NEVER SPLIT THE PARTY. Bad things WILL happen. Maybe not the first, second, third, or eighth time, but they will.

I'd say you're pretty spot on about Gorim. There's a loyalty there, both to Moss and the group. We shared some last words, me and Moss. Well, mostly Moss... but I made a promise to "finish his work" in regards to the Silver Scale.
Then my new comrades not leaving me in the gutter further attaches me to the group, for sure.
When initially joining the group, I had in mind that Gorim was always keen for travel, to see the world and meet folks along the way, helping out where he can. A bit of a Clerical "trying to be a better man" thing, with his feet often on the road.
Gorim couldn't believe his luck when the Elf walked in the door. And then it all went south.

Gwath preserves "privateer". :)
This half-orc has found it has been easier in his life to be what people expect him to be - half a monster. But that's not really him. He's been bored with his social limitations for a long time. Sure he could go full-orc and do as he pleases, and he's seen plenty of what the orcs can do with their freedom in his wandering youth, but he's secretly rather fond of art and civilization...

Clearly the Drow are after the two little blow guns y'all obtained. Crisis averted. World saved. Time to go home and bask in the glory. :)

Gorim also knows that wolves will hunt in packs, surrounding prey before moving in to take it down.
Yes, yes they will. :)

A 2 shift night watch can be done, but each of you must get 8 hours of rest without suffering penalties the next day. A 3 shift watch is doable, and I think a 4 shift night watch would be ideal for this group, with each shift only 2 hours long. Just in case you weren't sure how to go about it.
Let me know if ya'll take refuge in the cave for the night. When you take up your watch, specify where your character waits, and roll a Perception check to determine your watchfulness.

I'm trying to get my near gear equipped correctly. I think it's all sorted, but just in case here's the old and the new:
Old:
. . Scale Mail (medium; + 5 AC/ + 3 Max Dex/ -4 ACP /30 lb.)
. . Heavy Steel Shield (+ 2 AC/ -2 ACP/ 15 lb.)
New:
. . Masterwork Breastplate (+6 AC/ +3 Max Dex/ -3 ACP/ 30lbs) equipped).
. . Masterwork Heavy Steel Shield (+2 AC/ -1 ACP/ 15lbs)
So the switch will bring up my AC by +1, and it should increase my check penalty by +2 from what it was previously, altering all STR and DEX skills. Anything else I'm missing?
(I've edited my profile to reflect these changes so far).

GM Netherfire |

AC looks good to me!
Gorim, don't forget that you need to spend 1 hour of meditation to prepare your spells for the day. You can do this whenever you like, once a time of day is chosen, it must be the same time every day. Most clerics find the morning to be the most convenient. Also don't forget to update your list of prepared spells on your profile if you want to make any changes.

Hey, when choosing spells, how do the schools play into it? Are there any of those I should be avoiding/looking for in particular?
Anyway, I'm currently going with these:
Orisons:
Detect Magic
Detect Poison
Stabilize
1st Level Spells:
Sanctuary
Endure Elements
Comprehend Language (Knowledge Domain)

Schools of magic aren't something Gorim needs to worry about. The schools come into play when identifying magical auras, as well as organizing spells. The magic schools are Abjuration, Conjuration, Divination, Enchantment, Evocation, Illusion, Necromancy, and Transmutation.
The Spell Focus feat raises the Difficulty Class of one school of magic, making them more difficult to resist. For example, if Gorim had the Spell Focus (Enchantment) feat, spells like Charm Person or Sleep would have a DC of 16 instead of 15.
Magic schools are very important to the wizard class. Excepting the universalist wizard, all wizards specialize in one school over the others, and must also pick two schools (called "opposed schools") that are neglected as a result of that study.
Your spell choices look good Gorim!
