About Quick'

Backstory:

On his 15th name day, the boy woke alone. A search showed no sign of his mother, and indeed, the boy began to think he had imagined her entirely. At last, his loneliness overcame his caution. He gathered his few possessions and set out across the Urlghain Highlands.

Thinking to make his way unnoticed to Thaleniel, the boy traveled by night. This tactic served him well enough until he reached the fringes of that land.

"Stop Boy!" Came a booming brogue. "In the name of good King Thadeus Andreat, I bid you account for yourself."

To say the man was gigantic would be a grave deception for while he stood at the threshold of 21 hands, he was no true giant. The boy froze. His instinct shouted Run!, but his exceptional mind knew that fleeing was no valid option before such a pursuer. Deciding a rash bluff would be his best bet, the boy unlimbered his massive axe and charged. Roaring his defiance, the boy was unsurprised to see the big man hold his ground, but the shock of cold, hard steel striking his young skull is indescribable.

Blinking away what could only be days of sleep, the boy found himself staring at the big warrior once again. "Your courage is certainly quicker than your legs boy. I've seen three legged dogs run faster than you. Ballsy though, ' can't deny that."

The man shakes his head, smiling wide. "You got a name boy?"

The boy's face is unreadable. Quick of courage, quick of mind. I like that.

"Call me Quick."

And so the boy is known today.
