Game Master Stetrix

A decade ago, the Decklands family, a house of Chelish nobles, were exiled from Absalom for treason. Their fate made for an interesting story and when a Pathfinder agent in Cheliax studying the family's long history and exile from the City at the Center of the World ends up murdered, the Society sends you to the recently discovered Deckland Vaults in Absalom to see what connection their old home might have to your murdered colleague.

It's not a skill it's like caster level plus casting stat plus 1d20, with a target of 15 plus twice the spell level. When concentration was a skill in 3rd edition it was too easy to boost it to where the check was trivial.

You don't get to hide behind someone and avoid an AOO from a reach weapon.

Cela heal worked on Sekkimm - bleeding stopped.

Fernleaf attacks twice more and misses, but looks very brave and determined. The Devil is not impressed.

Rolande shoots three times. (sorry Upclose and deadly 2d8 does not apply to the crit multiplier.

Close and Deadly:
Up Close and Deadly (Ex): At 1st level, when the pistolero hits a target with a one-handed firearm that is not making a scatter shot, she can spend 1 grit point to deal 1d6 points of extra damage on a hit. If she misses with the attack, she grazes the target, dealing half the extra damage anyway. This is precision damage and is not multiplied if the attack is a critical hit. This precision damage increases to 2d6 at 5th level, to 3d6 at 10th level, to 4d6 at 15th level, and to 5d6 at 20th level. This precision damage stacks with sneak attack and other forms of precision damage. This deed replaces the deadeye deed.

However...the silver bullets slide right past it's DR.
41 + 30 = 71 the creature falls then dissipates back to the plane he came from.

The eagle will activate smite evil and full attack. I don't know how smite works for a bird. It is good aligned so I think it will bypass DR, but it will give/get flanking regardless.

There are four levers, the Portcullis at the far end won't budge.

I should have 3. I used 2 to recall Invisibility and 1 to enhance.

Fernleaf finds no traps on the stairs, but does find a hidden master switch just through the portcullis which will close/open/lock the portcullis. The spiral stairs descend to an archway the opens onto a platform. Continue?

How much time since buffs?

I think I'll cast Detect Magic and check out the arch and platform before we get any further.


No magic on the stairs or archway - it is very tight on the spiral stairs and you cannot pass other people here. I moved you behind Fernleaf to do that.


You spent 10 minutes in the upper room searching and figuring out the switches.

You see no traps and step out to let Buchart pass.

This long hallway stretches sixty feet east to west between two spiral staircases. The walls of this hall contain deep notches and cuts at five-foot intervals, and a lever lies in the down position beside the western staircase. Skeletal remains litter the floor, and among them rests the recently slain corpse of an elf, his arms torn off and several feet from the body.

A man steps from the shadows and fires at you. It seems like he has been ready and waiting.

"Hello little halfling, I'm Janks, are you lost?
He fires a heavy crossbow.

I move back up the stairs to give everyone else room, use Summon Monster I to call up a Celestial Eagle, and tell the eagle to fly down there, get behind Janks, and peck him to death.

Buchart, The square where you can see Janks across the the platform is occupied by Fernleaf. The last square of the stairs you can't see through the arch. To attack you would need to move in the square in front of Fernleaf or swap places. It is not a matter of seeing over Fernleaf. These are unusual stairs. If Janks could see Fernleaf 5' back he could have sot him there.

Sekkimm casts a celestial eagle to attack Janks while the party backs up.

Sekkimm go ahead and roll. It will get 1st attack since you can summon at the bottom and have it charge flying.

Everybody backs up - except Fernleaf (Janks has an opportunity at a parting shot)

I wake up from almost near certain death and plant a sloppy wet kiss on Cela.

I am assuming Cela is a non-bearded dwarf girl...


The only active buffs are Mage armor.

Janks steps forward 5' and fires his crossbow

My suggestions:

1. Potion of Gaseous Form on Anaba, have her float down behind Janks and jank him.

2. Summon animals or monsters and send them down the corridor setting off traps. Then send the tanks in right behind the animals/monsters

3. Fireball, lightning bolt, other AOE or major offensive ranged spells

4. A combination of all or some of the above.

5. Fernleaf will not be leading the charge.

Then 5' step back if possible for some cover.


While the party debates, Rolande goes down stairs to take a few shots at Janks and see if he can take care of business. He is waiting (prepared action for the first person to stick their head out).
