"Good Innkeep, we shall be happy to post a guard tonight, and as soon as we can find another entrance I shall personally help seal up your basement tight."

The conversation having reminded him, Xarol asks for a look at the map. He attempts to decipher what it is referring to. Intelligence Check1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16

Well it seems obvious to you that the drake refers to the lonesome drake Inn were you are now located. The map seems to be incomplete likely it was hand drawn by the elf or his comrades as they explored the caverns. Why some passage are solid and others dotted however is a mystery to you. You have no idea what might be at any of the marked locations other than what the hints on the map tell you. A lake, a vault, orcs and a fire temple?

After several tankards of ale and a bit if good hearted singing (with sadly no pretty women), min shoulders his great sword an takes up a guard post near the broken door. He will content himself with smoking his pipe and humming a sad tune.

sleep is for dreamers, by pop always said

Perception check to see if he hears or notices anything throughout the night while in guard.

Wise men say, only fools rush in
but I can't help, dungeon exploring with you

Shall I Tank, would it be a sin, cause I can't help, dungeon exploring with you

Like a sneaky rogue, flanking enemies, hey there friendly cleric, channel positive energy for me

Take my share, take a bit more too, cause I can't help dungeon exploring with you

"let's find some girls with a sense of humor!" Wags says after belting out a tune

I for one will not be eating something that tried to eat me first. I will do watches during the day, but I need to see if there is someone I can bring this book to. Maybe learn more about it.
Master Gil, could I get something more suited for a gnomes taste buds?

"I do believe I have a bottle of Ginglebarney Walnut Stout. It is produced by the Ginglebarney Brewery, headed by a clan of gnomes known for their ability to drink copious amounts of alcoholic beverages."

That sounds rather tasty, but I was referring to food, but will take a glass of that too!

"Of course I'll have something brought for you."

Min will be ready to go in the mornin back down into the dungeon. All he asks is a shot of whiskey and some coffee in the morning.

After a night of rest Xarol feels much better and is limping around from the poison's effects a little less. He checks his kit and looks over his ingredients and informs the others that "In a few days I will definitely be able to create an antitoxin that will prevent any future poisonings. Sadly it will not cure the ill effects we are suffering."

As soon as the others have prepared themselves he joins them in heading back down into the tunnels.

You rest for a night and heal at least some of you injuries (You can recovery hp equals to you level + your con modifier) you also regain 1 str if you were missing str.

Cleric, 2 | HP: +14/16 | AC: 15/11/14 | Fort: +4 | Ref: + 1 | Will: +7 | Init: +1 | Percept: +6 |

k. Good to know, I also prepare Comprehend Languages (for the journal, not the map :P) and will cast it after breakfast and attempt to read the journal. I hope you got something good written up for me in there ^_-

You can pm me the info if you want or whatever works for you.
As for the link to all the maps and stuff, why not put it in a spoiler up in the description part?
I mean at the end of this part;

description:
A series of events leads to the discovery of a hidden vault under the city of Magnimar. Three keys are required to open it. Were are they? What is inside?

That way it is always accessible and easy to find without you having to worry about reposting it all the time :P

Cleric, 2 | HP: +14/16 | AC: 15/11/14 | Fort: +4 | Ref: + 1 | Will: +7 | Init: +1 | Percept: +6 |

Also, while everyone is gathered around the table for breakfast, if you guys want I can cast channel energy to heal everyone some, that way we might only need 1 days rest before we are ready to go again.

Male Tiefling Alchemist 2 HP 20/20, AC 18(20), Init: +5, Saves: F+4, R +5, W +0

Sounds like a great idea. I'm still a few HP short and that could just do the trick.

wait so I get nothing for resting, WHAT? No way, screw that, I'm not resting and what's with this fifteen minute day you wimps, gee, you guys

The journal seems to part of a magical research log but you quickly realize this is the last of several journals. Only the first five pages contain text.

The pages detail the efforts of a mage to create a trans-dimensional portal in order to complete a "mission" although the details of the mission are not mentioned. He also expressed fear that in order to complete his mission he will need to abandon his duty of protecting his master's treasure vault for several years. He goes on to mention that he will take extra precautions to make sure the vault is safe from intruders.

The last entry in the journal reads:
I have finally finished that accursed portal. How difficult! I must take the combination with me, though, of course it's quite simple once you understand to alternate. I think I could trust Tyma, Elfass, and Ogdin with the safely of the keys to the vault while I'm on my journey. They've done well to help me so far.

Didn't realize there was someone for whom level + con would be a bad thing. Lets make it you heal level + con with a minimum of 1. I'll be generous.

just have the cleric blow all his channels before we do actually rest, then we should be good to go.. Min is ready!

True enough lets just say Stonz used a channel or two to heal everyone before getting some rest.

channelx2: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 6) = 10

There your all max hp at least.

Male Gnome Wizard 2 hp:12/12 Fort+2, Ref+1, Will+3, Init+1, AC:12(16),mage armor:16(20), Touch:12(16), Flat-footed:11(15) Str 10(0), Dex 12(+1), Con 14(+2), Int 17(+3), Wis 13(+2), Cha 14(+2)

Dies that help with my ability drain?

Male Tiefling Alchemist 2 HP 20/20, AC 18(20), Init: +5, Saves: F+4, R +5, W +0

Nope, you heal 1 per day, unless you stay in bed for 24 hours straight, then you heal 2. The odds of us getting poisoned again are fairly low. Shall we head back out?

Xarol grins at Maximus's battle cry, then heads down into the tunnels with him.

Cleric, 2 | HP: +14/16 | AC: 15/11/14 | Fort: +4 | Ref: + 1 | Will: +7 | Init: +1 | Percept: +6 |

Nope, and sadly I only got 1 channel a day, cha dump stat and all, so we use the first one, everyone gets 4 hps and I have no channeling left today.

Oh, it worked!... Shall we go kill things now?.... er... I mean explore

Yes! Let us explore!
.....where are the others, my grandma woulda been here by now.

Aoi crosses his arms as Moon-Moon rounds the corner

You're all ready to go? Not doing anything else for the journal or the map? I posted copies of them in the google docs for further reference anyway. Not everyone is full hp and there is some str drain as well but if you feel your ready to go it's all good. Feel free to post that you go back down to the room were the darkmantles were when you're ready. rom there you can either go deeper into the cavern or check the other door.

(?)

I want to sell my Studded Leather, for half price maybe? Come on it's hardly been used at all! and buy 20 arrows (oh can I pay someone to tell me exactly what the three magic arrows I have are?

"I'll be ready in a little bit here, just have to change clothes. What? You seriously can't expect me to be seen in the same outfit two days in a row in the same dungeon, I mean, come on, don't be tacky."

Firebeard awoke with a start from his "guard duty" as teh otheres made their way tot he door in the basement. He quickly sat up from where he had been leaning against the door frame. "Err Min, 'sit mornin' already? Seems like I ain't been down here but a bit. Where're th' rest o' them? Specially, the little guy? "

You can sell the armor for half price no problem, getting 13 gold at the local armorsmith, Culwert's Perfect Armory. He then points you to his brother's place Odger's Excellent Arms were you get a quiver of 20 arrows for a single gold piece. You can also get the 3 magic arrows identified for 50 gold by the gnome at the local pawn shop Tinker's Trinkets.

(?)

"50 GOLD! that's roadside dungeon adventurer exploitation that is, that's a travesty, an act of villainy, an act of Upstairs Downstairs, an act of Noises Off, an act of The Book of Mormon, which is way over rated I might add, besides that, I don't got that kind of money, so, I'll get it next time."

I'm ready, but I swear if we run away after somebody uses a couple of spells, I'm gonna stick my tongue out at all of you and call you cowards

"That be the price for my services come back later when you have more gold or at least something or value to trade in."

Male Human Fighter, 2 | HP: 16/17 | AC: 19/13/16 | Fort: +5 | Ref: + 2 | Will: +2 | Init: +2 | Percept: +2 |

come on, are we adventurers or are we cowards? Let us get back down to some nitty gritty!

And with that he will start making his way back to the room.

Alright let's get going, You retrace your steps and return to the area were you fought the darkmantles.

You can either explore the other door or move deeper into the cavern.

Male Human Fighter, 2 | HP: 16/17 | AC: 19/13/16 | Fort: +5 | Ref: + 2 | Will: +2 | Init: +2 | Percept: +2 |

I vote for the other door...

Cleric, 2 | HP: +14/16 | AC: 15/11/14 | Fort: +4 | Ref: + 1 | Will: +7 | Init: +1 | Percept: +6 |

"Min Maximus! SHUT UP!!!" Stonz grumbles as he heads over to the entrance to the tunnel, coffee in hand. He is not a morning person and to hear someone shouting so early in the morning cannot be a good thing.

On the way down the tunnel with the others he is sharing what he found in the journal.
"We seem to only got the last of a series of journals. We should keep an eye out for any more as the contents are quite intriguing. It says in here that there is a vault, see here, on the map, and its main protector is gone. In his stead are 3 "guardians" entrusted to keep the keys required to open it safe. A vault! Can you imagine what could be inside? I would very much like to head over there, just to have a look-see. He says with a twinkle in his eye, The three guardians are Tyma, Elfass an Ogdin. It also mentions some sort of portal to hell, requiring a combination to open, and something about alternating simples. I cant make heads or tails of it! What might your thoughts be there Sputnikk?"

As we pass the end of the tunnel and climb down the rope into the burial grounds, where Min voices his desire to try the other door. "I agree, an we should keep an eye out for some sort of underground lake while we are at it."

If we chose to go towards the door
"Eyes to the ceiling. Stonz says nervously Somebody should keep watch as we bust down this one. Here Min, Ill give you a hand again."

Perception check towards roof: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
DC 10 Aid Another Str check: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13 Min gets +4 to his Str check to bust down the door.

Male Human Fighter, 2 | HP: 16/17 | AC: 19/13/16 | Fort: +5 | Ref: + 2 | Will: +2 | Init: +2 | Percept: +2 |

Ah, thank you my friend, I'm itchin' for some action!

He will then lean in real close to Stonz and whisper in his ear

i know I'm a gruff looking fella, but I have feeling too, you know.

Min will let the gnome get a look at the door, to see if it is similar to the other one, or if there is any information to be gleamed from it... and then he will shamelessly hurl himself against it to attempt to knock it in...

strength check: 1d20 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 + 4 = 26

Male Gnome Wizard 2 hp:12/12 Fort+2, Ref+1, Will+3, Init+1, AC:12(16),mage armor:16(20), Touch:12(16), Flat-footed:11(15) Str 10(0), Dex 12(+1), Con 14(+2), Int 17(+3), Wis 13(+2), Cha 14(+2)

Look and see if there is any type of writing or markings. Me study of portals is somewhat lackin. They can be used for good and evil intent. The guardians'll tell us that I'm guessin'

The stone door slides open with ease, however upon examining the room it seems this tomb was already looted of valuables long ago. The sarcophagus lies open and while human bones remain inside they have been disturbed and searched.

(?)

"I'm not exactly sure why everyone is so excited about finding a big leap, but if jumping gets you all this excited I now what to get* all of you for your birthdays."

*Trampolines for everyone!

Male Human Fighter, 2 | HP: 16/17 | AC: 19/13/16 | Fort: +5 | Ref: + 2 | Will: +2 | Init: +2 | Percept: +2 |

Frustrated by the lack of anything in the room, Min will hit something with his greatsword, probably the sarcophagus or a wall or something...

attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16

damage: 2d6 + 8 ⇒ (4, 3) + 8 = 15

AHHHHH!

The sarcophagus breaks as you strike it but otherwise nothing happens.

Male Tiefling Alchemist 2 HP 20/20, AC 18(20), Init: +5, Saves: F+4, R +5, W +0

"Well... that was... underwhelming. I suppose we need to move on." Xarol says a little disappointedly. He surveys the room carefully Perception check 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23, before suggesting that they move on.

"The other direction perhaps?"

You head out and move deeper into the cavern. You travel about 60 feet when you notice another tomb door this one slightly ajar up ahead the end in a tunnel that turns east.

(?)

"Well I'm whelmed, you know not over or really under either, just, you know, whelmed."

Male Gnome Wizard 2 hp:12/12 Fort+2, Ref+1, Will+3, Init+1, AC:12(16),mage armor:16(20), Touch:12(16), Flat-footed:11(15) Str 10(0), Dex 12(+1), Con 14(+2), Int 17(+3), Wis 13(+2), Cha 14(+2)
