A series of events leads to the discovery of a hidden vault under the city of Magnimar. Three keys are required to open it. Were are they? What is inside?

You see no immediate threats as you enter the tunnel.

The tunnel goes on and for quite a while (1 mile) and finally arrives at an intersection that splits into 2 passages. One going south-west and the other south-east.

Well folks, should we continue on, or go back and explore another path off of the lake? I suggest we head left. Because left is towards treasure.


if your looking at the map I gave you you went to the lake then south. You are currently no longer on the map. Btw the top of the map is north.

The sound of treasure perks up his ears tremendously and he sets off with a bolder step ;)

Min charges ahead into the dark unknown. He ponders if maybe, since the map doesn't show where they currently are, if they should have the presence of mind to map the area for future reference... but the thought quickly passes, as many of his thoughts do.


You go down the tunnel to the south-east and travel for a another mile when.

Suddenly and a black barbed arrow flies right by Stonz's head...You notice a group of dog-faced humanoids coming from the opposite direction...Gnolls. They have obviously noticed you since your flashing a bright light down the tunnel but they are still 120 feet away giving you a bit of time to react. From this distance you cant tell how many there are as they still on the edge of your light but you can count at least 4 of them with more behind.

Roll Initiative.

Your in a 30 foot wide tunnel. I'll post a map in a little bit.

Gnolls are fairly common in this area and have been known to attack caravans on the roads. There is a bounty posted gnolls, something Min and Ronin are likely to be aware of. A rewards of 10 gold each (a pair of ears will suffice as proof) and a 2000 gold reward for the leader of the raiders, a gnoll known as Graylock (Only his head or his weapon brought to a the marshal will suffice as proof). He is said to carry a wicked magical axe and to be accompanied by a lion.

It was good to be underground again after all the time he had spent on the surface, though it brought back painful memories of his time before Kols...before the miracle...before he had a purpose.

The arrow was a bit of a surprise, though it came nowhere near to hitting anyone. Still, a fight was coming and the dwarf grinned under his beard at the thought.

Xarol peers down, trying to see how many gnolls are down the tunnel. He also drinks an extract of shield.

Move action, moving 30 feet down. Standard action drink an extract of shield. I'm taking a wild guess that I go first.

Stonz sighs as he breaks out into a jog to keep up with the other two.
Stonz moves forward 30ft with his remaining standard but no further ahead than Min is. Btw who is what colour? I imagine min is brown and I am purple?

Not to be picky but it's been two days. Can we puppet the others and just maybe say Wags starts a performance and moves 30 feet and Ronin double moves forward? Thanks for the map, once I noticed the letters for the names it makes great sense.

Ronin moves up 60 feet followed by his wolf. Wag moves up 30 and starts a bardic performance.

Two gnolls loose arrows at Min that fly by harmlessly and the one at the head of the pack charges him taking a swing with his battleaxe but misses.

The rest move forward seeming eager.

Xarol moves 20 feet further (in a straight line to the narrow point), and drinks a cognatogen. "Careful, hold the line there, don't let them swarm us all!" He calls to min and Fire beard. "I just need the Gnolls to move up five more feet..."

Int now 22. What's the relevant knowledge check about Gnolls? I have a minimum +13 to every knowledge besides nobility.

Aoi moves near the enemies to try and achieve a position to surround the enemy, he instructs Moon-Moon to follow along.

Moon-Moon liih handle animal: heel, free action
Aoi then moves defensively (total defensive. +4 AC, standard action) to the left of the enemy Gnolls along with Moon-moon (move action, moving diagonally up left, then up, then up left, then up with moon-moon 1 space below me,

Moon-moon has dodge and mobility so +1 AC, +4 AC against AoO

Once positioned Aoi orders Moon-Moon to attack gnoll 2

Moon-Moon moves forward and attacks gnoll 2 with her teeth with a growl escaping her throat

Taking advantage of Firebeard holding him Stonz strikes gnoll 1 dealing him 10 damage and finishing it off.

Ronin provokes an attack from gnoll 2 but is prepared for it and avoids the blow.
atk of op: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 81d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Gnoll 5 and 6 attack Ronin while gnoll 2 and 4 attack Moon-Moon

Gnoll 7 and 8 fire arrows targeting Stonz.

One gnoll misses Ronin while the other lands a solid blow dealing 11 damage! Moon-Moon avoids both the clumsy attacks ans Stonz is struck by an arrow taking 5 damage.

Round 3 action Xarol moves up behind Stonz and lobs a bomb onto hobgoblin #2.

Bomb Toss: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21, Damage: 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14#2 takes full damage and all of the others around his square take 9 with a reflex save DC 17

Move up behind Xarol. Looks like these guys have fight under control.


Gnoll 2 is blasted to the ground and isn't getting up and gnoll 5 and 4 are badly burned although number 5 manages to partially avoid it.

Moon-Moon avoids part of the blast and is burned for 5 damage.

I take a five foot step to the NE (assuming we are facing north)

I then attempt to cleave the two gnolls adjacent to me!

attack 1: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
damage 1: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 4) + 6 = 15

And if that attack hits 8 attack the next gnoll with cleave. And I get a +1/+1 due to the axe to grind trait. ;)

attack 2: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19
damage 2: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (2, 4) + 7 = 13


Taking a 5 foot step to the north-east you cant reach any opponents...You can however attack 5 and 4 if you move 10 feet north witch I will assume is what your are doing.

Min moves up and in a truly impressive swing cleave one gnoll in half and keeps going to slash another in the ribs dropping it in a pool of blood.(gnoll 4 and 5 die)

Realizing that the foes were well dealt with, and only a few stragglers that could easily be dealt with by his partners Stonz heals himself and moves up next to Min, kicking a dead hobgoblin as he goes.
Standard action, cast CLW on self, move action go north 10ft
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

"That one was indeed a mighty blow! It almost makes up for the last one. Almost."
Stonz taunts with a smirk :)

Firebeard drops the wrist of the now-dead gnoll and leaps forward to repeat the process with the dog-faced beast threatening Ronin. He reached out for the thing's arm, but couldn't get as firm a grip on it as he would have liked.

" 'ere now! 'old still so's I ken grab ye, ye dog-faced fart locker!"

Round 3:

Move forward and grapple #6 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11

Xarol sees his comrades laying the gnolls low after the explosion and cackles. "Haha, explosions make everything better!

I notch another arrow, but hesitate to fire until I'm sure there is an unengaged Gnome-troll availabel, while I am hesitating, I quickly shift the aim of the weapon from side to side, bouncing on my toes with each shift, and make quiet pew-pew sounds
