Hello Pathfinders,

Venture-Captain Ambrus Valsin is looking for skilled and reliable agents to aid in locating the dwarven envoys to Worldwound, who have gone missing en route, and ensure that the Society's mission reaches Mendev.
Those who are willing to take up the offer and the risks involved, are to report to Temel Passad in the Druman capital of Kerse. You will find more details in the mission briefing after you enroll.

I have some experience with running/playing Pathfinder, but this is my first attempt to run a PFS game, so I might be confused about things, particularly when it comes to reporting or PFS-specific conventions. So I would like to get at least one player who has been a PFS PbP GM and is willing to answer newbie questions. I would prefer to stick with 4 players at the table.

Since you're new to PFS...

There are two PFS Campaigns: Classic (sometimes called Regular, Standard or Original), and CORE. When you register a character on this website, you must do it as either Classic or CORE. That character can then only play in games registered as Classic or CORE.

Classic characters can utilize any and all PFS legal options (that the player owns, obviously). It's the original kind of play style. CORE came out a few years ago. Those characters are limited to using options from just the Core Rulebook, Chronicle Sheets, and a couple other minor sources.

In order for a game to be Classic or CORE, all characters at that table must be playing that Campaign. You can't mix Classic and CORE characters in the same session. If you do, then any CORE characters lose their CORE designation on this website and become Classic characters. They can never again play in a CORE game.

One of the benefits to CORE is that it allows a sort of replay option. I've already played #5-01 in Classic (the day it was released, actually), but I haven't played it in CORE.

For the purposes of GM credit, can I apply a core game chronicle to a non-core character? I guess not.

I signed up with a 1.1 fighter

Level 1 wizard.

Signs up with level 1 bard(arcane healer).

Added with a 1.2 fighter (armor master) or a 1.0 fighter (archer)

I also have good ideas for a Sorceror and an Oracle if those types of classes are needed for the mission.

Signed up. Carrick is a lvl 3, since everyone else is a lvl 1, I can be the slightly more experienced pathfinder in the group. That fits my character pretty well as he is a Holy Guide Paladin, or I can make a new level 1 to play if you all prefer.

Carrick - looks like we're going with the low subtier, are you fine with receiving the lower reward for your character?

Generally looks like we're fine on melee and arcane fronts, but could use more healing and perhaps skills. Perhaps JAFO could switch to the cleric?

Tundran - sorry, I didn't want to do a lottery this time as I happened to check the thread with 6 players in it and I don't like prolonged recruitments. You will be my alternate :)

Looks like an archer would be a better fit for this group, so I will switch to this character. I just need to fill out his fluff. I will do so tonight.

BTW: When I created this character, I accidentally pressed the Core button. I have never played with him and have no interest in playing Core.

However, I can't find a way to remove the Core designation within the website. If anyone can point out a way to do that, I'd be grateful.

I don't believe you can remove the designation, and will likely need to delete him as core and remake him as normal. I am not sure if the name will be available or not after deleting. I think so but don't want you to take my word for it.

Rules allow for a character to switch from Core to Classic (but not the other way).

Seems odd that the website doesn't support that, but it does seem to be the truth. I'll send a question to tech support.

I think that you need to talk to one of the board directors to get them to change. I had to do that for a character who was given regular credit for a CORE game.

i switched my sign up from cavalier to cleric.... so we have some healing in the party now.

Yep I don't mind the Out of Subtier gold. Carrick can do lay of hands and also use the heck out of a Wand of CLW...so if we may be okay for heals. Play your cavalier if you would like JAF0.

turns out i've played this one already, and while I'd still like to be in the years 5-6 run for other scenarios, I will have to bow out of this one. I understand if you want to replace me for all, but if not, I'd love to play in the next one if its one I haven't played before.

Carrick, does each character get a reward appropriate for his own level? I thought everyone gets the same based on APL- is that wrong?

Yes, a character that plays an adventure in tier, so in this case 1-5; but is a higher level than subtier being actually played 1-2. Earns Out of Subtier gold. I think by season 5 the amount is listed on the chronicle sheet, where it lists the gold reward in the upper right hand corner. In earlier seasons, you might have to calculate it, but it's simply the average between the low and high subtier.

So a level 3, 4, or even 5 could play with a group of 1-2 and earn Out of Subtier gold; while a 1, 2, or 3 could play at subtier 4-5 and would also earn Out of Subtier. Of course in that case a level 1, has to be very careful, not to die.

Yes, I think the out-of-subtier business is clear to me now, thanks Carrick. I have the amount in the chronicle sheet but wasn't sure how it should be applied. I've scanned the RPG guide, but didn't find that bit spelled out.
