Signed up for the top one in slot five... but with the two alts there - was there a name there and I accidentally slid mine in? o: Maybe check that just in case? I would hate to accidentally knock someone out.

@OlSmokey: Make sure to follow the link in my original post and enter your information on the spreadsheet. Then check this thread on Saturday to find out which table you'll be at.

Signed up thanks and looking forward to it

@Nohwear: The regular campaign is looking rather short on healers, so anybody who can activate a wand of cure light wounds ends up in the role.

I'm happy to switch to a healer of some type if that helps the tables work better. I don't have one ready to go, but can get it up by Saturday.

^ Same; my Vigilante and her familiar are support-focused and based around using Aid Another to help their teammates but if it looks like healing-capable folks (including classes capable of using a healing wand) are going to be in short supply then I can swap her out :)

It looks like we might actually get more players than seats at the tables, so here's some advice for making the cut:

  • Choose core campaign.
  • Play a simpler class/archetype (CRB & APG are best, OA is worst).
  • Clerics and rogues seem to be in demand.
  • If something is TBD, make a decision by Friday night.

Assume that there will be 9 tables of 5 players each, so 45 spots available.

A reminder. You can make any changes you want to your character and sell your gear back for full value before you play your first game at level 2. The exception being consumables.

So if you so decide to try out an Alchemist/Rogue or Cleric/Oracle/Shaman and decide you don't like it just switch at second level to something you like more.

I'll get the invite/connection info for both Gallows and the Evergreen arc posted up by tonight.

@Eben: I do a lot of prep-work on the back end, i.e. pre-formatting posts with knowledge checks, dice commands, NPC monologues - anything that will be the same for every table. That makes it a LOT easier come game time.

Hey, I'm game to see a few new DM tricks. :)

When do you plan to start? Evernight is finished, but I still need to transfer his sheet to his profile.

Silver Crusade

I'm also wondering when you're going to start. I have three PCs at level 1 on paper character sheets that I need to enter into the computer, and I don't have a ton of spare time right now. If we're not starting until Monday or later, I'm fine, as I should have time over the weekend to type at least one of them in.

I'd like to kick things off by this weekend, but I'm flexible.

gstor, aerondor and Z..D.. you are currently signed up for my Glass River Rescue. You have characters signed up at multiple tables and you can only play 1. Pick what character you want to stay and remove the other. In 24 hours if you still have 2 characters signed up I will randomly remove one and keep the other seated at a table. The link is below.

Reminder: recruitment will end tomorrow night.

And for those who missed the original announcement: I will be running a bunch of tables of an evergreen arc (#5-08, #6-10, #7-10). Signup is here.

@GM Deekan, I'll play core rather than classic.

I switched from kineticist to oracle. Also, Dennis and I would prefer to play together, but if it makes more sense to assign us to different tables, we're certainly fine playing separately.

@GM Aerondor I've got you on the Core table.

@GM Deeken put me down for core as well.

@Z..D.. I've got you at the Core table.

CORE Glass River Rescue?

If you have room, I'm interested.

@Nefreet my table is full at the moment.

Allow me to say, "Damn." Maddest of props.

...I can't imagine running more than one game at once...9 is a few....

@Jayson: It's not as hard as you would think. I'll be able to reuse 75% of my posts. It will take a lot of time to make the posts, but not that much mental effort.

The hardest part is going to be keeping from confusing the different tables.

Sovereign Court

@John Woodford: You said it. Even with copious notes, I still mix things up occasionally.

You may be crazy Granta, but at least you're sane enough to keep them all the same scenario.

I get how the basics would be the same regarding spoiler tags for knowledge checs and such. But wouldn't combat be painful with this setup?

2 people marked this as a favorite.

As a warning having run several confirmation pbps, I've found the reused posts to be much closer to 25% instead of 75% although some of that may just be customizing the same information for the approach of different parties.

While this is less applicable to replaying evergreens, please remember that each PFS scenario is a beautiful snowflake and should be treated as such. It's your job as GM to help make sure everybody has the best experience possible.

On a related note I've had a couple of bad experiences with previous pbp game days where GMs were clearly running far more games than they could handle, and were just copy/pasting responses rather than actually listening and interacting with their players. It was extremely frustrating and caused me to drop from the middle of a couple of games.

While there's no way I could handle running even half that many pbp games at once, I'm hoping/looking forward to seeing 45 happy and smiling players finishing up there Confirmations.

All that said I love crazy and ambitious plans so here's to wishing you the best. Let us know how it goes and don't be afraid to help for help if you see yourself faltering. I think we all want to see this go well.

Sovereign Court

I just finished running 3 tables of #7-27 and 4 of #6-18 simultaneously, and actually expect this to be easier. The number of scenarios seems to take more out of me than the quantity of tables.

I am going to hold off on starting more scenarios as a player though, until I see how this increased load goes. So basically, we're all a bunch of guinea pigs together :-)

Any tables willing to suffer a level 2 Cleric of Asmodeus?

I'll be running a Confirmation game. This is an evergreen, so you can replay it unless the character in question reached level 3. There is a possiblity of me running more than one table, depending on the number of applicants. I'd rather not do 3 tables at the same time, however ( me being already busy as it is, etc ), so I'll run a lottery if there's too many of you.

For most GMs, I honestly don't recommend doing multiple tables at the same time of the same scenario. There are some great GMs on here who can handle it and enjoy the prep synergy, but your brain has to be wired that way to make it work.

For me, it really does not. You know what you can do best. I'd rather you had a great time with one scenario than burn out on us.

Hugs,
Hmm

I can do one Core and one Standard scenario at the same time, but definitely no more than 2. Too many contexts to switch.

Won't be for the first time, but I can appreciate the advice.

The advice was aimed at me as much as you!

I've discovered that while VA Hmm could handle two tables at once without crashing and burning, VL Hmm can really only do one table at a time.

We all have limits. Do what makes sense to you!

Hmm

I used to run a Core and Standard at the same time, but while the synergy of the prep work is great, I found that I was too often thinking group A completed a task that group B did, etc. Not a big problem, but enough to convince me to skip it.

On the other hand, I did start 3 full groups simultaneously on the same AP, and am having better luck with that - although I am having to take much more extensive notes to keep it straight.

Grand Lodge

2 people marked this as a favorite.

I am certain that multiple tables is not for me. I have enough trouble keeping separate scenarios straight, let along have the same scenario in different permutations.

Silver Crusade

One of these days, I need to get back to GMing PBP. I did it once in the game day last year, and found it tough for me to keep up with. But I was also playing a few PBP games at the same time. I'll probably start another table of the same adventure (since it's an evergreen, and I already did the prep work) in the next week or two.

We should move this conversation to "Discussion."

That being said, I also supplement my multiple tables by having a spreadsheet check list of checkpoints. IT helps me track who has done what. I also recognize that I'm unreasonable in how many games I'm in at any given moment, and it's not advisable to try it...

Liberty's Edge RPG Superstar Season 9 Top 16

From pre-PFS experience, I actually found playing and GMing more tables to make things easier. It was always easier to check more often when checking was more likely to result in at least one game where it was my turn to post. Fewer games meant more waiting between doing something.

Okay this was up for 24+ hours, so I'll likely set up the form to not accept entries anymore after I get back from work. I am in CET+1, by the way, so that's a few hours from now. Like 3-5 hours.

So far there are 8 people, so 2 tables of 4. This is fine, but there is space for 4 more if anyone wants to join in last minute.

hey Espi...i can bring in a fresh toon to round out a table...havent made it yet will make something table needs....healer etc....
