Realy loved Bone keep seriously.

Where else can I be dragged room to room? Was never awake for more then 6 secs but I survived where lesser (unluckier) mortals would have not.

My bonekeep experience was not good. We were a party of level 3s and 4s... and there were only 4 of us. We made it a few rooms in and then ran out... as fast as possible. One of these days I'd like to try it again with a full party of people who know what they're getting themselves into.

Sczarni

Since there is (so far) no interest in Waking Rune, would anybody be interested if I instead ran a table of Core Bonekeep I?

Bonekeep is not sanctioned for PbP as of yet.

Bonekeep has a hard time limit that makes it impractical for pbp.

Part of the issue may just be that there is not a lot of pbp players with high level core characters. I only know of 4 in the 7+ range.

The Exchange

There are several in the higher rangers, I've GMed them during specials, so they are out there. Heck BGIB has at least one!

I think the issue is more that they are definitely rarer, and Core characters are generally weaker than non Core. And Waking Rune has a truly horrible set of reviews to its name.

The ones you GMed are the ones I'm referring to. 3 of us played together at a local store that ran 2 cores a month for about a year.

Sczarni

I have an 8th level CORE Bard. And my region has a couple others. But CORE play died out where I'm at. So PbP is my only option.

Where is this list of not-sanctioned-for-PbP? I'd never heard of it before.

My 9th level Ranger would love to adventure with an 8th level Bard. I might even be able to talk a high level Wizard and Paladin into playing. But Waking Rune was a big no.

The Exchange

And likewise, I'd be up for a higher tier CORE scenario (only 7th here due to going slow) - but preferably one that didn't have quite such horrible reviews.

Sczarni

You'd especially love mine. Bardic Performance as a 14th level Bard =).

Nefreet wrote:

In Core? Even if alternate FCB was allowed in Core they all got nerfed to 1/6. And I wasn't aware Banner of the Ancient Kings had appeared on a chronicle. I'm intrigued.

Sczarni

If we Adventure together, you'll see =).

But I don't have anything else prepped for PbP, and I've been working on Waking Rune for a week already.

Anyone else interested in GMing like a high tier 5-9?

The Banner is not the only item which enhances effective bard level for performance, there is at least one other, a rather perilous one.

I would be interested in higher tier core, I have a level 8 archer cleric, level 9 wizard and level 11 sorcerer.

Yes I found the item. Haven't played that in classic or core yet. My level 2 bard has a goal. If we play in the 5 - 9 range I can add Monk 6 and maybe Druid 7 to my options. Depending on when we start.

Lantern Lodge

There is a horn on an AP chronicle that can boost things.

I'm dong a 5-9 Core at the moment, when that finishes (likely in a couple of weeks), I could do a high tier table of King Xeros of Old Alzant (I'm trying to complete all of season 0, thus my preferences for the early scenarios)

The Exchange

I'd have interest in a Walking Rune, but the character I have in mind for that should play the other high-tier season 4 scenarios that lead into it.

I would be interested in that. And I don't think my friends have played it Core yet.

Sczarni

I have actually never played or GMed King Xeros in either Standard or Core.

If you could PM me when you're ready to GM it, I'm game =).

Sczarni

I'll probably cancel Waking Rune tomorrow morning if nobody shows interest by then.

Which is a shame. The Boon is super cool for Core.

Dark Archive

HERE is some info on Bonekeep. I remembered it being talked about in the lodge recently. Sounds like it's not allowed for PbP per Tonya.

Lantern Lodge

Tease!

I've put an entry in my sign up sheet for a high tier CORE game of King Xeros. So those interested, jump aboard. Start is likely early April, but may get juggled by a week depending on my free time and other games running long or short.

Thats the way to go, there are a series of scenarios to go through BEFORE heading into the final chapter that is Waking Rune.

As GM Turmoil notes, the Bonekeep scenarios are not approved for PbP, because of the strict time limit. As far as I know those are the only verboten scenarios at this time.

I love that Core is alive and well online. Having such a large audience of talented players makes so many things possible.

The Lissala Arc that leads into Waking Rune is excellent. Challenging, well-written and interesting. It's well worth doing the whole thing before going into the final chapter.

Hmm

Sovereign Court

For higher level core play, I've got a monk 9, wizard 7, druid 6, cleric 5. I would be interested in The Waking Rune if I had experience with all of the other players and their characters, but that is not a scenario I'm going to attempt with whoever happens to sign up first.

And King Xeros isn't much better. I don't know what the high subtier is like, but if the low subtier is run as written, it's pretty much a guaranteed TPK.

I don't remember which tier (low, I think) but Xeros massacred my squad. One of my few body recoveries happened in that one.

Lantern Lodge

Really? I played it as a pregen and we didn't have any particular difficulty. Although the other characters were somewhat optimised. Maybe the GM went easy on us.

The Exchange

I would love to play my Core character more often. He's currently stuck at level 3 and I haven't played him in a couple months now.

I too do not remember King Xeros to be all that frightening. Mind you, when I played it we had a well rounded group and when I ran it, the group slaughtered it through judicious application of moonlight bridges and hungry pits.

Silver Crusade

A little gnome rushes into the room, completely breathless. Purple highlights in her hair slowly change colour as she jumps onto the bar top.

"Yo... you experienced.. yes.. experienced pathfinders. There is an ancient ship turned up in the harbour. Made of CRYSTAL. It glitters amazingly. Or so I hear. Anyway, Venture-Captain Adril Hestram is coming, and he needs a team to go explore it."

Recruiting for a CORE team for King Xeros of Old Azlant. I'm shooting for high tier if possible (9-11), but will take lower ones if necessary to make a table. Game start is likely in early April, depending on how fast some of my other tables finish up.

"What? The name of the boat?"

Prisim blushes.

"Oh yeah... the boat is called The King Xeros. It is of Old Azlant design."

Season 0, scenario 20. Sign-ups here

Interested? Yes. Able? To be determined.

3 people marked this as a favorite.

As much as I want to see games fire, I also don't want my favorite GMs to burn out. Please guys, if you're not sure you can handle another game on your already full platter, maybe that's not the time to test it. Give yourself a breather if you need to do so, too. Everyone has limits on how much PBP bandwidth they have.

Hmm

I may take on a 5-9 some time in the future. I just started a 1-5 since my last 2 games were subtiers 7-8 and 10-11 I decided I needed a break. I'll probably put out an interest check in a few weeks when I wrap up what I've got going on now and see what sort of scenarios you're on the lookout for.

Lantern Lodge

That is why I said an April start :-)

I would also be interested... but not core, as I don't have a core character that high.

I cannot emphasize this enough. I had been running a CORE group hear for months? years? I miss the group, but okay the long game, don't burn out!

Ah, I can only field brand-new level 1 Core.

Alrighty. Just closed Recruitment for Waking Rune. But I had an idea overnight:

If I offered to GM the scenarios leading up to Waking Rune (I believe there's 4, and they're all 7-11), for the same group of 6 players, would anyone then be interested in finishing with Waking Rune?

It'd probably be close to a year to complete. But it'd be like a mini Campaign. Everyone could collectively prepare for the grand finale together.

Sovereign Court

According to the Wiki, the series is:

  • #4-08 The Cultist's Kiss
  • #4-10 Feast of Sigils
  • #4-12 The Refuge of Time
  • #4-20 Words of the Ancients
  • #4-26 The Waking Rune

I haven't played any of them core, so consider me interested!

Yea, I'd be up for it except that I have nothing in that range core, and I've played Feast in classic. Dang. I love taking a series through end-to-end.

Sovereign Court

That would definitely be an interesting sojourn into CORE :-)

Wow, talk about hard mode........

Sczarni

Yeah. Indeed. #4-20 is (IMO) the most difficult.

Could someone put me down for Aerondor's Old Azlant with a core 5 Pala/4 Shadowdancer named Godfrey? I'm out of town and stuck on my phone.

Just level 7, but I would be up for that if I am not too low on the spectrum.

I am interested. This is for non core correct

You might want to add the last of season 3, Portal of the Sacred Rune, to the list as it is what kicks the whole thing off.

Who would be interested in playing a standard table for 6-23 The Darkest Abduction (7-11)?

I've been reading through and thinking about much of the feedback about the scenario. I think that the PbP format will help to alleviate many of the problems people had with the scenario, and I have planned out some ways to address the others.

No plan survives contact with the enemy players, but those are just opportunities to be creative!

You are on the list in spot no. 6.

Nefreet wrote:

4-08 has some particularly nasty elements to it.

I had one group take 4 attempts just to get inside the site in 4-12.

Thank you!
