Sadly the only way to injure teammates via ranged attacks is to have precise shot and have the betrayal feat. Funnily enough, your ally needs the betrayal feat as well, so they'd have to consent to it in the first place.
there is also Reckless Aim (which also, ironically, requires Precise Shot). it's probably worth it too. -1 AC, +2 attack, automatically hit a creature that is adjacent to and threatens the target on a natural 1.

...a blessing for all the actual Drow... now be silent, WORM!
Red eyes glinting in the dark, Hakk prostrates himself on the floor.
"Yesssss Mistress Illiana! Hakk will be good. Hakk is wormmmm of Loth! Hakk will be silent. SOOOO silent.
Hakk will bow and scrape as male should! You will never again hear Hakk going or coming..."

Just saw this thread (away on vacation) so I definitely appreciate the few extra days! Thank you!
I am considering a summoner (unchained, of course), but am also toying with occult. I see you are "check with me" on Ultimate Intrigue, so do you have a preference on any of the classes from Occult Adventures since it's another newer and unusual book? Thanks!

Calas "Thin-blood" Kewadin |

All right, got some more backstory and tweaked the character to fit what I was going for. No longer rely on grapples in combat, but AC took a large plummet.
Also went from Barbarian 3 to Barb 2/Monk (Martial Artist) 1. More viable in general fights now, and not just drow. Took me awhile to figure out how to make good use of the dhampir's Blood Drinker feat, but think I finally managed it.

Calas "Thin-blood" Kewadin |

And the background has settled, finally.
Calas is the result of an... agreement between his mother, a lesser Kewadin noble, and his vampiric father. While he's not sure who his father is or what plans his mother has, Calas is able to take advantange of having such a rare mix of blood. Which is to say, s+%#-all. He's a thin-blood, and a second class citizen. He ranks somewhere above goblins, kobolds, and orcs but somewhere below everyone else.
In the hundred and some odd years he has spent living with house Kewadin though, his mother saw fit to train Calas. He was placed under the tutalege of his older brother. Calas was taught to use his vampiric blood, to reach into himself to find strength. There he found a demanding appetite, one that was discovered at his brother's expense.
His brother lived and Calas dodges retribution if only for three reasons. One, his brother barely lived through one attack, and he wasn't sure he could live through another. Two, his brother would lose conciderable prestige if word got out that a thin-blood almost killed him. And third, Calas's mother still had plans for him.
His brother wasn't without resources though and after a few words it became forbidden for Calas to use armor. Also, his mother was convinced that it was time to put Calas's abilities to use. Two options, succeed and live, or fail and die. Either way, he'd have to deal with his brother sooner rather than later.
Kinda want to add more to this, maybe collaborate with the other players to connect us a bit?
For a dhampir, Calas doesn't look too different than his drow mother. He has the long pointed ears, solid white eyes, and silvery hair of a drow. But, the normally dusky violet skin of the drow is tainted with a ghastly pallor and his incisors are unnaturally long. Also, despite the frail nature of drow, Calas looks solid and strong. Lean muscle stretchs across his tall elven frame and scars criss-cross his body where swords, whips, and other instruments have marked him.
Calas's main goal in life is to earn enough respect, or fear, to be treated as a proper citizen of the city. If he manages to get a few drinks along the way, then all the better.
Calas is quick to laugh, and socialize with whomever is actually willing to. While it is true that the city is the proper place to be stabbed in the back, it's best done together with friends and family. Calas is also not afraid to show off his vampiric side, going so far as to enjoying a drink during a battle.

Re-asking, since this wasn't answered yet:
Just curious, but what sort of scope will this game have? Or rather potentially have?
We will be mostly confined to the City of Spiders? Could we venture forth and capture other UD towns/cities? Might we end up on the surface, sacking towns, enslaving the weaker races, etc?
Also, do we need to buy all the mundane items or are we allowed a certain amount of standard gear?

Vantrag Kewadin |

I've been reading over the thread and all the discussion about Drow Nobles and am a bit confused, can I ask for some clarification?
If our character is going to be of a noble line, do we have to build them as a member of the Drow Noble race, or can they just be a standard drow mechanically but be descended from the house's matron mother for RP purposes?
And how does the "Drow Nobility" feat play into that?
And some people earlier on were mentioning that female nobles *have* to become priestesses of Lolth -- is that correct? I had been under the impression that it was the usual thing and certainly encouraged, but that a noble female would be able to pursue a different career. I've been working on this character who is female and becomes an alchemist. I can always rework her backstory if that's not acceptable, but just wanted to know :S

Calas "Thin-blood" Kewadin |

i think you meant canines. incisors are your front teeth, the flat ones.
Turns out that's actually how it'd described in the dhampir d20pfsrd, was wondering how I had mixed them up. Either way, edited the relevant passages.

I'm curious to know about this too. Is this more of a city-scape game?

The scope was something that will develop rather organically from the actions of the players. I have a major even for the intro happening and the player's decisions in that time will effect whether this stays in Menzo or goes out from there. Who I choose will also have some effect. I have ideas for the most probably outcomes, but wouldn't be surprised if youall threw me a curveball. In general I try not to plan too far into the future. PC's have a disturbing habit of turning everything I plan on its head.

They don't HAVE TO be nobles. I was opening that up beause no one does, and if you can't play a Noble here, where else will you play it?
And how does the "Drow Nobility" feat play into that?
If you are a normal drow, the noblility line of feats are freely open to you should you wish to tell the story of a latent noble discovering herself.

Becoming a priestess is *strongly encouraged* by the society, though I can see a third or fourth daughter weaseling her way out of it if she showed true promise in other fields. She would be seen as less-than by her priestess sisters, but that's the price you pay for being different in Menzo. If you survive.

Would that mean one would get visions of ones dearly departed adoptive father, along with later being kidnapped by some demented mage? :P

cuatroespada |

should we use pathfinder resources for height/weight references or Forgotten Realms resources? because Golarion drow are significantly taller than Faerûn drow.

Lessah |

so, i think Illiana is done. if anyone has any feedback, it is welcome.
Only thing that jumps out as a bit weird is the open slot. It doesn't help much since Clerics/Warpriest can technically only prepare spells during one hour of the day (when they are meditating) unlike wizards.

cuatroespada |

actually...
Spell Selection and Preparation: A divine spellcaster selects and prepares spells ahead of time through prayer and meditation at a particular time of day. The time required to prepare spells is the same as it is for a wizard (1 hour), as is the requirement for a relatively peaceful environment. When preparing spells for the day, a cleric can leave some of her spell slots open. Later during that day, she can repeat the preparation process as often as she likes. During these extra sessions of preparation, she can fill these unused spell slots. She cannot, however, abandon a previously prepared spell to replace it with another one or fill a slot that is empty because she has cast a spell in the meantime. Like the first session of the day, this preparation takes at least 15 minutes, and it takes longer if she prepares more than one-quarter of his spells.
italicized emphasis mine.
see also, Commandments VI and IX.
edit: also, in case it comes up, the weapon description in Illiana's profile is just fluff. it is functionally identical to a whip in every way.

You know just between you and me, back in Sshamath this little noble got on my bad side.
So I pushed him over the edge of the tower, purely accidental mind you. Naturally he used the innate magic of those noble blooded types to slow his fall, he even used it to rise to mock me. That's when I leaped onto him, pushing him farther away from the tower and glided to a near by ledge. It did not take him long to smell the dire bat bait I'd smeared on him, no more then the bats anyways. You see that innate magic can slow your fall or allow you to rise as well, but no more. Superiority is a matter of circumstance, the bats proved superior to a loud mouth child that thought the blood in his veins had anything to do with his position or ability. He was not even worth a spell, I forget his name.
But I remember his face quite well and what was left of him broken upon the side of the tower. >:)

A party of.. close to 20? What madness is that! Insanity I say! People would get crowded out and get to talking over each other. The confusion could be staggering. Feeling could get hurt! People would get all offended, the discussion thread would probably explode, were that to happen...
How very Drow...

You also have to consider that as Drow, we may end up thinning our own numbers a bit![/sarcasm]

Here's my submission. And thank you, GM, for the clarifications about nobles and about females doing arcane magic! I was able to stick with my original character idea and not really change anything although I did emphasize more that her not being a priestess is Super Weird.
I had everything else done and was spending too much time agonizing over equipment so I just bought a bunch of random alchemical stuff and called it a day, haha. Since we're starting in the city I'm sure I'll have time to buy things later if I need them.
