hello, i was looking at perhaps joining this game. if there is room, i have a character that i statted up for another game (that went in a direction that made him less than feasible) that might find a home here instead.
He is psionic, and pretty old so i dont know if that would fit into the game with the other players.
if not, i could probably drum up another idea.

Seriously. I am going to be playing a Greater Doppleganger who pretty much morphs, mimics and copies EVERY class ability, feat, super natural power, etc.
Not all at the same time of course, but you get the idea.
I would just change his age and perhaps adjust his history so he became as he is at a much younger point than how you have him now.
OR
Make him a teacher, there's no level or age cap as one, though you are more NPC and thus not a "regular" character.

oh maybe i should choose a less NPC idea then. what is the difference (besides the obvious difference between a teacher and student) in play for a teacher vs a student?
forgive me here, i looked at the character page but it was difficult for me to sort out which were actual characters, which were posting in their main profile, and which were currently active in the story.
could i get a list of who/what characters are already in the "part(y/ies}"?
this way i could maybe see what i could come up with. i havent made a "wacky" character in some time, i might have to channel my 3.5 self.
for instance i had thought of a chameleon of sorts, but i dont want to double up on anyone's idea.
and reading this game now, it looks like aovar might be a bit (re: A LOT) too vanilla and hum-drum in terms of personality to mesh with the other characters.
I think you may need to relax and not try to think too much into it; they're attempting to let me in, and I know absolutely nothing about almost all systems, so that should say something. Just pick an idea and go with it; they'll even allow a guy who wants to use his blood as a weapon in, and work to make it happen. I'll get that guy in eventually.
Difference is: Teachers-teach and beat up Really really strong monsters that occasionally show up...
Students-go to class, beat things up...Rinse and repeat

How she gets into Game play.
All the studentship know the 18 foot tall metal statue of a Woman holding scales by the headmaster office, been there form the drawn of time. Just one more odd pit of decoration in a place full of add bits of culture. That is until the day the head master informed they school they would be getting a new Extra planer Ecology and Planes Maintenance teacher. Seeing how the last one ended up the wrong side of a ward and a black hole.
It was with some shock to the 1st class in "Extra planer Ecology and Planes Maintenance." that the Headmaster Ryo lead them to the statue and placing small soul-gem into its side said.
"Activate prototypical Alpha Seven, Role teacher, subject access, Extra planer Ecology and Planes Maintenance, respond and report"
A dull red glow started to shine deed in eyes of the large metal form, years of dust fell as it move standing tall, Magic and electricity could be seen to flow of the female form. Its head tilting down to regard the
Headmaster Ryo and he students, a metaalic voice from inside its head spoke even as its mouth stayed closed.
The Class looks at what can all be called a 18' tall Magical transformer, hears Headmaster Ryo as he walking away say
"Right Rosa, ther'er are all yours, try not to kill any"
yes my main concern is that i dont want to come up with a wacky idea that someone else has already used (or done something similar to). for instance, i like to play necromancers, but most games have precious little need for 2 necromancers.
One necromancer cant be in two places at once? maybe a good argument?

so i take it there are no roles that a particular party within the game would have need of? i will take a look at some old stuff and see what ideas pop into my head (mostly stuff i never got a chance to play, or at least not play at lv16)
i definitely am shooting for the student role, as i am on these boards far more than i should be so i would rather be somewhat of a star in part of the story.

well, there are a few ways my last high-level necromancer could be in many places almost at once :D
Well, more necromancers means more people for the potentially-coming Krisilanni to hate and/or assault on more than a few occasions, what with his hatred for the undead and all. >w>
i'm almost positive that half of my gestalt-ness will be alchemist, never got to play one of those at high level and they are pretty wacky at times (tumor familiar and extra arms for sure!)

Tenro, I would suggest reading the new player primer under the campaign info tab, and really, really do not worry about stepping on someone's toes. There is lots of overlap and at this point it would be difficult to come up with a unique concept....don't worry too much about it. Also, maybe this will help, maybe not, but there is no formal party. Students form friendships and group up on different quests/ assignments at different times. Usually concurrently. We totally tossed the don't split the party rule. :)
Also, once you've adjusted to the game with your student character you can feel free to bring in Aovar as a teacher in addition. It's better to start with just one character, but you can play more than one once you're used to the format.
Rosa, you definitely want to read the campaign info. This world has been cut off from the multiverse for centuries. And the school has only been there for a few years. The idea of an eighteen foot tall transformer as a teacher is hilarious and I love it, but we'll need to fine tune how she gets there and what subject she teaches.

how about Extreme Environmental survival, drop the idea of planes to the diffident kind of Extreme Environmental's found in and off the planet.
We have deep space Environmentals, High gravity Environmentals, extreme temp Environmentals (hot cold etc), as well as deep water Environmentals high sonic Environmental, The idea being that the Environment is the danger not any one thing or bad guys etc. Studenst would be taken to an Environment and told to survive for a time. Or learn to fight in that Environment etc. no need for other planes as I bet most Environments can be found on world and if not they can be made. The idea being field trips to interesting Environments and getting the classes to done simple things in a hard place.
How she got there, well she can be In place, put there when the school was made or being artifact from the old times. Once there where fast numbers of beings like Rosa, But now only a few are left. Old tech log forgot.
Or shes just been rebuilt/found/gifted to the school etc.
Or crash lands on the world in a Meteorite (I like that one)

I realize I'm just going to sound like an impatient git by saying this, but I'm getting tired of waiting around attempting to put this guy together, so if someone has the time and the interest to help me put my character together so he can use his blood like a Deadman, pleeeease work with me. I keep trying to learn how to do it on my own, but I just don't get it, and I have no idea where to put what for stats and skills, or how to even tell how much I have. It's a sad state of affairs, I know, but it's what I've got at the moment.

Well, you see, that's not what I'm going for; I've looked over it thoroughly, and it just doesn't do it for me. We've decided on a black blooded oracle/soulknife, with the mind blade just being his blood. I really don't like the thought of having to spend XP for bloodrites, anyway.

Crash lands in a meteorite actually works given the recent upheavals. Maybe she was offline for a few centuries when the world was inside out and now that it's turned outside out this has disturbed the orbit of her meteorite, hence crash.
And I think extreme environments works well....actually sounds to me like the new PE teacher. In most schools that would be different, but Aananda used to throw boulders at the students (only the advanced ones, there was a waiver they had to sign first) so Avalon already has a history of strange PE classes. :)

Hehe yep PE teacher sounds great, hehe a 18' Transforming PE Teacher with a liking for deep water volley ball (of course the balls or lead.), volcano gymnastics and of course (enders game like) Ziro G battles.
Cool I like the idea of her falling in onto the planet, very Iron Giant.
18' tall characters, Dragon party members, crazy magic. Salis feels at home all ready. Though I think 150 books to write in won't be enough for his notes.
the idea i am settling on is somewhat of a young Dr. Strange. I am thinking Alchemist/Warlock. looking at a few options to maybe close in on the concept a little more tightly, or might just take it in a wacky direction, who knows.
