The ooze goes by Ephebe but is going too fast on the smooth floor to stop. It crashes into the wall. It regroups and moves towards the pair again (at the same speed).
I totally forgot I had a status cast on Ephebe...would that have picked up the emotional rolelr coaster earlier, and her panic now?
Hmmm....it's a tough call as to whether she would have been considered panicked or not. The spell tracks conditions not emotions... I'm gonna say no so far. But of course he'd know right away if she were wounded or such.
"Those are questions I cannot answer. The answer to each of them differs clan to clan, and sometimes even Hunter to Hunter. We were not a single organization for long once we came to Agartha, so I'm told."
"So...there are rules all Hunters have to follow, but others vary from Clan to Clan or even Individual to individual, or is it they're just like everyone else, with both good and evil folks among them? Do Hunters only exist here on Agartha?" Pauses for a second... "Is any one clan especially well known for treacherous actions or lack of concern for innocents?"
Jiminy focused his reality bending ability on the pipe the slime creature had escaped from, making it narrower and narrower in an attempt to stop any more overgrown snot balls from getting out.
"That would depend entirely on who you ask. To some, we are protectors of Agartha, to others, we are a scourge within the earth. To put it simple, we were like everyone else here in Agartha. We did not originate here in Agartha, but were sent here by someone(the texts are old and faded, so most don't know who sent us anymore) to kill every single amethyst dragon we could find. Obviously, we failed."
"As for any specific clan.. I am sorry, again it is something that differs amongst our people."
"One thing you should know though, that has nothing to do with Hunters directly, is that it is best if Ephebe stays afraid of me and away from my cousins. I am not choosing sides in this fight between her kind and the other Hunter."
He pauses.
If you or your friends start acting differently towards me, it could tip off the Hunter that something has changed. If he thinks I am an ally, he may target my cousins. After I deal with him I will come after you for putting them in danger, however indirectly."
"That is unfortunate, but understood. I would not wish for any harm to befall children, no matter the intentions. If he is truly ruthless, he may use them to get you involved anyway, no matter how neutral you wish to remain." Looks serious "I appreciate your candor. Let me return the favor. I do not count you as an enemy, but I see Ephebe and the others as clan members now, and will defend them appropriately. If you should prove to be an enemy, for any reason, I promise that after I kill you and the other hunter, your cousins will be looked after." He looks weary "I hope it doesn't have to come to that." He bows to Lysander "I am Krays, by the way."
I should add here, yes he is a kobold, yes he is a small creature. Lysander may not take his threat seriously, and who'd blame him. But a Sense Motive will tell him that Krays believes he could dispatch him, if it came down to it. It's not bravado.
"I understand completely, and would have been disappointed if you had threatened anything else. If you would like to see where we stand in terms of matched power, there is a Snipe Hunt later today. I usually avoid such events, but I could make an exception."
"Well, that can't be good. The oozes usually stay in the pipes where there is plenty of food..."
Not to sound snippy (I probably will), but the fact that the oozes are secret is rather important in defining Vakkler's character. He does his best to keep creatures like Keaton (and pretty much anybody)out of the sewers so nobody can discover his duplicity. So it kind of irritates me when you seem to take it for granted that not only does Keaton know, but that he throws it out in front of students without any sort of discretion. I apologize if I was unclear about the general knowledge of the oozes, so I'd like to repeat it more plainly: Unless there's a good reason, I'd prefer nobody know about the state of the sewers. If this is too much to hope for, then I'd appreciate at least some token secrecy in front of the student body.
"I like the way you think, but I have already agreed to assist with the inevitable wounded. Suffice to say, I suspect you've a good measure of power if you're willing to casually upset dragons!" He pauses, a thoughtful look on his face "I also wouldn't want to give any third party observers a free show to take notes from, if you get my drift." He nods to himself, then voices his thoughts"You are well met, Lysander, and I hope that when your cousins are safe, I may call you friend. Until then, know that you have my respect, no matter what events befall us. I will not ease Ephebe's or the other's fears."

Asch starts to rush Keaton and skids to a stop as Amada and Ephebe run back into the gym. "Wait what happened?!?! Are you ok Amada?!" He asks completely forgetting about Keaton.
She blinked. His telepathy was already improving. He hadn't even shouted at her that time.
Spin:
Spoiler:
::Unless you have a good way to fight an acidic goo creature you should stay here. Oozes can dissolve flesh. I'd rather you didn't end up getting digested.::
: : I can't think of anything, but I'm not sitting out if other people are going. Ya never know, maybe I'll surprise you-- : :
The thought is cut off by Asch's whisper, and he whispers back.
Asch:
"Ha. He sure seemed surprised enough by the ooze. His big body-guard guy was the one to see it, actually. And it stole some of Krays's eyeballs... I know, weird."
::I'm not sure I can handle any more surprises today.:: Her thought was tinged with amusement and something else that was a little harder to pinpoint, but felt like maybe admiration.
She took a deep breath. Okay, she could do this. Pretend like everything was normal. She was good at that. She'd had practice.
"So, I guess we're not going to the library after all. Might as well stay and finish class then," she said to Amada.
"Keaton, watch the class for a minute. I'm going to go box this thing up before any students get hurt."
She dashed out of the gym and started looking for the ooze.
Aananda finds the ooze 'chasing' after an amused dwarf student. The dwarf is moving comically slow to 'flee' the retarded slime.
Did I use that word in the correct, non-offensive way? I'm not sure it's even usable anymore... :P
Meanwhile, Jiminy sees another slime start to ooze out of the pipes. He seems to have slowed it/them down, but not stopped them.
Aananda stomps on the floor to bring stones up around the creature and gestures, bringing her hand together as the stone flowed up and around the ooze encasing it completely.
"What were you thinking?" she snapped at the student. "What would you have done if that spell had worn off?! I suggest you think about that since I expect you to write me an essay on the subject tonight in detention!"
"Now go fetch Vakkler Relkav. Underground creatures are his specialty, he should know what to do with this one," she added, looking at the stone box uncertainly. What was she supposed to do with it now?
She heard the scream and went running towards it. She found James trying to keep away from another hungry ooze, this one not moving slowly at all.
"James, get into the hall," she called out, waiting just a moment to let him go past before bringing up more stone to box the second ooze.
This one is moving at normal speed so it should probably get a reflex save to avoid being trapped.
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
The ooze is unable to escape before being trapped.
That sentence reads oddly strange. Almost nearly redundant or something or other...

"The pipe! They're coming out of the pipe. I made it smaller, but all that did was slow them down. There's still more down there," Jiminy said from the hallway.
Jiminy blushed and rubbed the back of his neck self-consciously.
"I didn't do it!" he blurted out. "I mean, I was going to do something, but then there were goo balls coming out of the pipes, so I never actually did anything! This time," he added, sheepishly.

Vakkler clenches his fist, eye narrowed. "Y-your--ma'am, with all due respect, your son is a born liar. I think it quite likely that these oozes came from him."
"No, Vakkler, that you're wrong about. James is a born troublemaker, but he's painstakingly honest about it. Not a lot of point in trying to lie in a family of telepaths. I believe him. Although we're going to have a little talk later about what you were planning to do, James," she added darkly.
"Hey, I was just going to release some tiny ice elementals into the showers!" Jiminy said, alarmed at Vakkler's accusation. "But I only got as far as opening up the pipe!"

"Oozes. I've got two of them boxed up," she said, pointing to the stone box in the hallway and the one in the bathroom, "and I've put a cap on the pipe they were climbing out of. There's still more down there. Not sure how we ended up with oozes in the school, but we obviously can't have them attacking the students. I'm...well, really I have no idea how to deal with these things. I've got them trapped, but now what?"

"Erm...perhaps put them back?"
"In the pipes? But they'll just get out again," she said doubtfully. "These things were acting really hungry. And we can't have them trying to eat the students."

"Well, gray oozes are ravenous creatures. But they seem to have stayed down there up until your son's little joke."
The shriek, however, tails off, and becomes a strange roar. Thunder cracks. The now-familiar stink of burned ozone fills the air.
The power goes out.
There is a strange hissing sizzle and then *WHOOOOOOOOMMMM* as the bathroom doors get blasted to smithereens by a meter-thick lightning bolt, along with most of the door frame and the closet across the hall and most of the room behind it.
Nasima-as-Khoda comes floating out of the bathroom, her shoulder and leg both badly burned, probably by acid. Her eyes are like ball lightning and stray bolts are arcing off of her, fusing metal and bursting tile and pipe. She turns and her jaw distends, dropping a sickening inch or two past what it should, and another huge bolt of raw electrical power streams out of her mouth: *SSHHHZKKKKKKKKKKK* Cooked ooze bits splatter out past her, some deflecting off the electrical shield coruscating around her. She fires two more lightning bolts from her hands with similar results, then floats gently down to the ground.
"hhhhh.....ung" The sylph collapses in the dark on the floor, unconscious again. Her body is still pretty badly burned from the oozes' acid, but the now-utterly demolished bathroom is in far worse shape. There are the completely carbonized remains of oozes here and there, and all the pipes have been fused shut, as have the drains. Khoda apparently melted all the metal and shut every opening with solid blocks of it in order to protect his Channel.
"Nasima!" Alarmed she rushes to check on the now unconscious girl.
She turned around.
"James, get her to the infirmary now!"
She turned back to Vakkler. "And this is why oozes in the pipes are a bad idea. How did they even get down there? Look, you deal with the remaining two. I'm gonna be busy fixing the power for the next few hours. Not to mention the plumbing. I just need to go tell Keaton to take over for the rest of my advanced class first."
WHAT?! I gotta room with the little creepy dragon with the undead friend?! :D
Speakin' of which, Krays, since you would have moved in first... what does your 'stuff' in the room look like? Just to get a feel for what Spin's gonna walk into here.

Why am I imagining Spin walking into a room with jars on shelves with body parts of at different stages of decomposition sitting about and bones and stuff scattered about.
Not that mechanics are a big concern here, but just so y'all know, what I'm going for with Nasima is exactly what she talked about IC; namely that she'll slowly learn to selectively draw power from Khoda. So she'll be a typical sylph, but will eventually gain the powers and abilities of a small lightning elemental, then medium, then large, and so on and so forth, and do so through all those meditation classes she's in. Calling Khoda himself will, as Ephebe said, be the nuke option for the school, kinda hanging 'Sima out there for a "dark phoenix" thing (or whatever).
Honestly, narratively, I don't have much interest in Khoda actually showing up for real 'cos he's so insanely powerful, but the metaphorical heft of a teen trying to control this literal monster/god that can manifest in her place against her will if she just loses control of her emotions, and then proceed to tear apart entire planes of existence is pretty damn juicy.

So but yeah. Anyway.
It's a cool concept. And I think you've got a good handle on how to put limits on it.
Yeah, I'm really looking forward to RP'ing Nasima learning that she, too, can have cool powers like all her awesome new friends, and that being blessed/cursed with Khoda is not the all-or-nothing nightmare it's been for her thus far. It'll give her more to do while still letting her be herself and not necessarily forcing her into a hero role. This school already has heroes comin' out its ears, so 'Sima will happily be the jeans-wearing everygirl who maybe just has a bit more backbone than most.
Lynora, should i just fast-forward past the Headmaster meeting? I had posted something, but i fyou're not excited to write it or anything, i can just not worry about it. That's your character, isn't it?

Between the flying cat, the dragon and my slurk, I think there are too many pets. :P
You are forgetting Ormarr's snakes and Adsila's plants(you'd regret saying they don't count)! They used to turn Ryo's house into a tiny rainforest when he was gone! XD

I'd guess they're part of the staff? I mean, it has been awhile. The triplets are 26 (which makes them physically the equivalent of 17)so that makes it 28 years from where we left things last.

For shame! Have you forgotten that they both made an appearance in "A Cure for Boredom"? >:(
Yeah, Ormarr and Adsila are still at the school, they just prefer to stay outdoors(which is good, since that is where their classes are held) now that Ryo's got the environmental control part of the wards working.

26? I've got to work on some stuff then, I thought they were around 20...

I remembered them in the story, but I couldn't remember if they were in the school or the house. It has been a bit since I read the story. I know, I know. I should have memorized it better. ;P
Yeah, 26 puts them just at the beginning of the juvenile category which is the earliest they could be considered sexually mature, i.e. bonding wouldn't have been possible earlier than that. Normally a dragon would have to be in the young adult category for that, but we said that the weredragons matured an age category sooner in that regards.
By the way, I'm not trying to detract from the wonderful Slurk vs. Towel watching event, just trying to establish that the four are there.
Oh, and if Ephebe looks at them.. Remember the feeling she got from the 3 little kids(a set of twins[boy and girl] and an older brother]? That's doubled if she gets close to Lysander. Getting close to all three makes it stack.
This is a chatty bunch! I thought it was something when one of the other games I'm in cracked 1000 in a month, but this is intense! Keep it up, all, this is such great stuff! :-D
500 posts. And only one major fight scene thus far.
Hm... well, true Slurk v Towel was an epic battle, but I think you are forgetting that little altercation with the shadow elementals. That's got to count for at least a half of a battle. ;)
Oh yes, we are an active bunch indeed! (^-^) This is pretty much how the first one went, page accumulation wise.
Plus, Tamrin never would have thought of "Slurks Gone Wild" without you guys!
I have got to memorize the language in my profile though if I'm going to keep posting in it! Searching for the letters is tiring! :(
Yeah, speaking Goblin with Darst was something I dreaded until I wrote it all down. In another PbP I'm in, I have a similar problem with Draconic which has yet to be remedied.

"Poa!" Ryo says before he motions for everyone to come in and have a seat(in chairs that appear out of nowhere) "I apologize for not being able to help with the incident in the cafeteria, but it seems whatever plan this boy has involves distracting me from his real plans. Is everyone alright?"
