This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

Vickory frowns a moment, not knowing why the negativity towards dragons,"We are the dragon clan cause we killed a dragon of the Eastern Empire and Sorenson made its bones into one of my kind, though she is dragon shaped. As for those things, they feed on pain. Not sure what it was, but something attracted them here. My guess is it was something tied to that ghost girl that Vai knows, the monsters had the ghost girl trapped in a device, though we destroyed it along with the monsters."

Despite the haze of the sedation, the man does at least pick up on one thing that Vickory said, though the rest seems to simply go straight over his head. "Vai? You're here with Vai?" he asks, looking around and seeing his daughter away some fifty feet. The fear seems to fade from his eyes as he looks back to Vickory. "She.... you saved us?"

"Yes, as best as I was able, he's as close to what we can manage from his and my own memories, with a hint of youthfulness mixed in to integrate into the school until we can find a universal cure all, which we may have, or the next big thing rolls along. I have to admit, it's refreshing to be around people with power levels displayed so far. Reminds me home and our efforts there. I suppose I just need to sort out what I'll be doing, I was going to be talked with the head of security first. I'd rather not be on her bad side."

She continues to sit there, smiling faintly. She does study Vare's expression calmly though.

Vare's expression is a mixture of confusion and curiosity, and Maya's studying gaze is returned by Vare's own. He glances around the room for a moment before going back to the woman. Still nothing. "Ms. Aananda is a reasonable person. I'm sure you won't have too much trouble with her."

Again he seems to look around the room, searching. "What are you doing? How are you keeping the Fragments from appearing?" he asks suddenly, seeming to be slightly on guard right at that moment, greeted with the continued unexpected.

Anahita pauses in her review of the townsfolk and peers over at Vai briefly.

::Your emotional state is heightened, you are quick to anger, and yet, you feel I am potentially being manipulated. I've little evidence to suggest that, what do you base this on? I do know that there have been powerful entities of late involved in my existence, or revealed as such, but, where does one draw the line? I'd be happy to discuss free will and destiny, if you wished, but I do not see any evidence of my being manipulated. Fooled, perhaps, but that rarely happens-- or has. I am being quite cautious in my affairs. Even being here, I am being cautious.::

She looks again around at the people, a pensive mask on her face.

::We should return to Avalon, I don't believe our being on this planet is wise- we disrupt the balance it has, just as easily as those demons that were here prior did. Our mere presence could be reason for your time traveling alternate to arrive and cause chaos as she did in Avalon. When you step into a pond, ripples happen. That sounds appropriate for our being here.::

At one...

::You've said before that you almost feel overwhelmed by your own thoughts. You feel that they are your own, but come unbidden. That... honestly Anahita, that sounds alot like... alot like having your mind manipulated. I know what that feels like. That's what it reminds me of. Maybe it's nothing. Maybe I'm overreacting or not quite understanding you, you do have a dizzying thought pattern at times. At least for me, I'm pretty sure my emotions are in part coming from my draconic side. I just have to learn to control it.:: Vai replies, though Anahita can tell again through the mental link that Vai's emotional state is indeed heightened, and that it's taking great effort and focus to reign herself in.

::I know. We'll leave as soon we can, but we need to at least wait and see what Sadie and Tryko'Sam have found. We can't just leave these people to die in the wild.:: Vai adds on to that, then considers the man who has just strode away into the forest. ::As for that, we could invite them back to Avalon I guess, but I only brought a few spare Starcasters, for my parents. And the ones for you, me and Yrrin could also be used I suppose...::

"Hey... Belyu, Adon, where did you find that guy anyway?" Vai asks the two who were not in the Collective aloud, her voice trembling slightly as she speaks loud enough to be heard over the river.

Male Archangel of Awesome Paladin of Badassery 20

Wasn't sure how long I had. Clearly I can be much quicker. Half hour, 20 or even 10 mins should be fine.

Male Humanoid

Sister Dwaina looks between the toe as they exchange their brief 'funds' discussion, and when complete, has a warm smile on her otherwise average, yet hinting at fine, features. She didn't do the make up thing, or fancy looks, perhaps a clerical rule.

"We can ignore the donation or funds, Adventurers. The important thing is helping people, especially if there has been demon involvement. Please, ease your minds. Let us focus instead on that goal."

Once that matter appears discussed and shelved, Tryko'Sam smiles as the aide returns with some maps and books. He apparently was also instructed to bring reference materials for any travel.

-----

It doesn't take too long, in relation to when they arrived, Tryko'Sam to pinpoint via the maps provided the exact locations that the villagers are at now, and where their villager and cave is, for the Pelor Priestess to consider. It would easily, without magic or tech assistance, take close to fifteen days or so to reach by horse, let alone foot.

Once Tryko'Sam mentions he can transport folks, either there, or here, as desired. It seems the Sister has a choice to make.

"If you feel that the current incursion has been removed, investigating the village would be advised, but without knowing exactly what those creatures were, I would be unwise to send in just anyone to help defend. We typically hire powerful adventurers for this. If you and your companions are seeking work-- an exchange of efforts, though you did say you were passing through."

Tryko'Sam looks over at Sadie and says, "Well, I could help these folks out, and meet up with you all again, if I were to chat with blondie briefly, before we parted ways. Being on this side of ... Uh, well, on this rock, versus another, might make getting back slow, you know what I mean? My suggestion is bringing the people here, find a warehouse or make shift triage place, then travel out to the village and explore the situation with the right people. Heck, maybe what were doing might be done by then, Sis, so some of us could come back to assist. That's a thought."

He looks over at Sadie for her thoughts.

-----

So far, Sadie and Tryko'Sam have been gone about fifteen minutes.

Female Avalon Professor

Still watching Vare, Maya says, "I set the room to these conditions, asked for a level of privacy, and voila-- not sure what you mean by fragments. What were you expecting? Is it not acceptable? I appreciate the quiet, we had a similar setup in our base back home."

Female Human Teenager

::Only since my arrival in Avalon, have the voices of others so freely entered into my thoughts. Perhaps that is due to a variation of applicable laws or rules that govern existence I'd not experienced previously. I do not sense manipulation, and my will is quite potent. I cannot agree with your concerns, but will not dismiss the outright. You may have experiences I've yet to experience. I thank you for your concern. The thinking is primarily chaotic when there is little to focus on, or I am away from nature. Perhaps my body chemistry needs cleaning and refining, again. I shall do that when we are done here. The stranger can be tracked if needed, should we wish to bring him with. I suppose you'll want your device back?::

Not that she out right offers it, but appears to be verifying this with Vai.

Accept they run like constructs do on their own and you tell them what you want them to do and they do it. Is that close? These wouldn't do that, though. These would stay outside of me and form a very thin insulated shield when they pick up on things hotter than me that get close. So they see heat like I see magic and when they see it close enough they know to group together. There wouldn't be enough to stop all heat because they would be too heavy. These are smaller than dust, but a lot of them make heavy metal."
He pauses for a moment to take another dip of custard and fish.
"Your techy stuff is just like magic that anyone smart enough can learn to do."
He gestures to Arthur, and Mel's data pad with a fish strip in his last statement.

Mel listens to Tybs, I like that explanation much better. that is pretty much the jist of it. That is in a nut-shell, Klien field theory.

Mel smiles as she grabs Tybs fish strip and takes a bite. totally forgetting it was frozen. the face she makes definitely is one to remembered.

now these are not like nanites. they are as much a part of you, biologically, as your own skin. and they can get overloaded with too much heat. it will protect you as well as protect others. you still want to proceed with this? I can't guarantee success

Tybalt focuses on the hunk of fried fish and it softens up some, but doesn't become warm at all. Room temperature is the best he can do.
"Try it now. It's actually pretty good."
"You could just brush down with a little magic every morning. I had to learn that when I got frozen. No more showers. I kinda miss using wanted for things."
He turns back to Mel.
"Would this keep me from freezing regular stuff like water too? I think we should try it. Not like it could hurt anything. They won't itch will they?"

Female [Classified] Bard 16 / [classified] 16

Itch?, well it could, if you get frost fleas, but those things are not from here, at least I don't think so. anyway, I'll get to work of the programming tomorrow then. Like I said, I have a little trip I need to take tomorrow right after classes. For a little science experiment, need to collect some field data.

Mel starts fiddling with the datapad. soon she has brought upo various schematics that seem to be for the SIM rooms.

I think we may have to disconnect the connection to the main control room first. Hmmmm, I wonder if the next PE teacher would want to help? Mel seems to be trying to find a way to keep all of these tests as private as possible.

glancing to Tybs. What are you doing next weekend?

Male Icy Catfolk Image Warlock/Rogue 16

"Fleas are one thing I don't miss. Definitely..."
He trails off and scratches his left ear subconsciously after talking about fleas.
"Where did you say you were going? And what next PE teacher? What happened to Ms.Rosa?"
He pauses for a moment and makes a short kitten sneeze into his elbow.
"Ugh. Sorry."
He shakes his head.
"Next weekend, I thought we were going to do the benefit concert? And then if everything works out, Dave's birthday party is on that Sunday. You should come. I was hoping you'd perform. Especially one or two songs with me for him."

A few rustlings come from behind the curtain and the girl steps out from behind it wearing the medical clothing she was given. She has her arms clasped and pressed tight to her middle. She is a young girl, perhaps fifteen if she is small for her age, or as young as thirteen. She has hair as black as a raven's wing, and eyes that would put a sapphire to shame. She stands looking at Nala and Ryuzo through a curtain of her hair, uncertainty and resignation in every line of her posture.

Nala smiled reassuringly. "Alright, I'm going to pass this wand over your body...it won't have to touch you at all, but it will give me a better picture of what's going on inside your body. The room sensors are still registering you as a biohazard, but they're not sensitive enough to confirm if the changes to render you non-contagious fully took. Let me just look at these readings and then either I'll have to make another treatment for you or we'll be able to transfer you over to the school proper. How old are you, Miss Mar'Niell? I'm guessing teens? You're welcome to stay and enroll in the school if you want. You don't have to if you don't want to of course. But it's an option. And speaking from experience, this is a wonderful place to hide when you're trying to get away from someone powerful who's done terrible things to you."

Fieri took a deep breath.

"Okay, so James is pissed as hell, but I think that's a good sign. And he's got some big help coming. So, time to do what he asked and get on with what we were doing. And hopefully we won't have to cut this short."

"Pan, turn on the signal."

Once the signal was ready to broadcast, Fieri picked up a microphone.

"Testing, testing...okay, so hopefully this thing is on," her voice was broadcast through the school and through several small speakers that fans of FAIN had hidden throughout the firebird refugee camp. "It's been a rough few days. For the school and for the firebirds. We've lost people we care about, we've lost a home, and it can feel at times like everything is falling apart and will never be okay again. But it will. We're all stronger than we give ourselves credit for and we'll get through this. We have to. So I'd like to do something that I learned about from the humans. It's called a wake. Tomorrow will be time for memorial services and saying goodbyes, but a wake is for celebrating the things we've lost as well as grieving for them and I think that's something we could all use. This isn't a performance. We're not even all from one band. It's just an expression of how we feel, and my hope is that these songs will speak to all of you as well and help express some of those emotions that have been so overwhelming for all of us."

She set the mic back on the stand and nodded to Pan as she picked up her violin to begin the first strains of the first song.

Far From Home

Nala studies the readings from the close scan, and the activity taking place inside Jessa is fascinating, and more than a little disturbing. The nanites are doing their job well in keeping the virus from being able to survive in an environment other than Jessa's body, and though the coordination indicative of sentience is lacking, the viruses seem to be trying to undo the changes imposed by the nanites. Once the nanites currently in her bloodstream expire, the viruses will eventually be able to undo the changes. A periodic reapplication of the nanites will be necessary unless a more permanent solution can be found.

My first thought was that Darth Vai was behind Virus Girl.

Nodding after Sadie shares her personal view and thought, Tryko'Sam looks back at Sister Dwaina and says, "So, sounds like a warehouse or courtyard with tents might be best, I can give you the exacts on your maps, to the best or navigational means, of the where and such of their village and this cave, but, our team is engaged elsewhere and cannot overextend ourselves at this point. Prior commitments. How's that sound?"

A moment of paused consideration and Sister Dwaina says, "that sounds best. We have a field," she motions out the window, "Some short distance from here, I'll have preparations readied for refugees. We can therefore contain and assess, before continuing. How soon will you be needing before they will be arriving? A day or so?" The latter sounds like an educated guess or her part, which Tryko'Sam shakes his head too.

"If you mean the field with the small pond, and reddish paint with yellow pavilion, give us ten minutes. If I see you standing out there, along with or your aid here, I'll know to start shipping them over. I assure you there is no danger in this, they will magically, for lack of explaining exactly, start to arrive is groups. I'll try make it back here too, just to check in. I'd hate to dump something on you without following up. Fair?" He rises up, appearing ready to leave.

The Sister seems a hint surprised at the suddenness, rising and nodding. She and the aide aren't about to leave yet, while the two are still there.

"Ready to jet, partner?" He asks Sadie.

If she indicates agreement, he waves while they are quickly returned to the field with the villagers and stream, to give an update to Vai.

Otherwise, ignore the moving, obviously.

I need to give you virus blockers that can self-replicate...I'd just have you do multiple treatments, but I can't be sure how much to space them apart and it's too much of a risk to let you be around people if there's a chance the virus can bypass the blockers. Really, they shouldn't still be doing that. Not without a guiding sentience...."

"Chess is a two-player strategy board game played on a chessboard, a checkered gameboard with 64 squares arranged in an eight-by-eight grid. Some consider it a puzzle to outwit an opponent. A jigsaw puzzle would be even more simple to create, if you would prefer that. It could be made with as many or as few pieces as you choose, with a minum of two and a maximum of approximately 625, with easy manipulability."
Hermes produces a sheet of metal and a metal saw from a box in his chest.

"If you can teach me how to play I'll try chess. It sounds interesting, and kinda like fighting the bugs things on the mountain I lived on."

"Ready whenever you are," she agreed. "Thank you for the help. I'm sure the villagers will appreciate it," she said to the sisters by way of a farewell.

"Allow me a moment to put together the required components."
Hermes puts together a chess board and the pieces, explaining what each does as he makes them. Half are copper and half are steel.
...
"Are you now clear on the basic rules?"

She quickly got changed out of her wet clothes into the blouse and skirt.

"Where should I hang up my wet things? And thank you very much, Dacamara-sama."

"I'll go hang them up to dry if you cook the fish for lunch/dinner. Of course, I'll hang them up anyway, but this way I might get you to show your cooking skill again."

Kitty smiled. "Thank you, Dacamara-sama. Of course I would be happy to cook for you. All you had to do was ask. ...are you feeling adventurous enough to try sashimi or would you prefer something a little more...cooked."

As pale and withdrawn as she had been when she arrived, Kitty seems to be relaxing more and more the longer she was here. Saffire's rescue seems to have shaken her out of the worst of her despair.
