Okay, I'm obviously in a snarky mood...
I don't think that there is any vatican casting. ;P
Yes, I know it's an autocorrect error most likely. I did say I was in a snarky mood. :)
And honestly I share your distaste for vancian casting. It's a sacred cow and we're stuck with it. Doesn't mean I can't have fun with it, but yeah...there are so many logical holes to this whole idea.
Kryzbyn |
The notion just doesn't sit well with me I suppose. When Raistlin opens the portal to the Abyss, he's not all like "Okay I'm casting one of my 9th level spells for the day to open this Gate."
Yes, but if Raistlin had been observed casting the spell by another mage, it could very well come up in character.
GM Fireclaw |
Yeah, it's a system designed for game balance, not for 'makes sense'-ness
At least the 'forgetting' spells is easily explained in a lot of the books and such: when you read your spellbook, the spell is burned into your mind, and when you cast it, it leaves your mind. Why? Cause magic.

I think beast master just works the best. She's animal based and there isn't another one already(kinda).
She's going to be taking a lot of companion improvement feats.
I like Lyn's Disney princess analogy. Kinda one of the things I built her after.
Yeah, there just aren't other good options for an animal controller type character. Which is why I was saying it's okay about the foot-stepping stuff. They're coming at the same material from very different thematic places. And it's not a power contest anyway.
Good to know I got what you were going for there. :)Tybalt Baneko |
Thas you? From how we talk I expected you to look older. And where do you work? Background looks kinda liked Starbucks.

LOL guess not. Hope it was at least a fun/interesting class.

Did anyone mention a protest to you saturday? Or supporting you to counter protest?
My dad made me go to Starbucks down here for it. I don't drink coffee so I got an orange shake. Pretty good.
Tybalt Baneko |
I don't much care for coffee or energy drinks. Soda is pretty much the only way I get caffeine.

Just to chime in from a creative angle.
Wizards are capable of simultaneously preparing X spells, additional based on intellectual prowess, in their spell matrix, which IMHO, has very little to do with memory and more to do with how their superior smarts on magical laws, theories and formulas, processes the casting- which, while prepared, awaits the final 'components' to trigger.
This process of, ultimately, channeling universal magical energies through their being, not just their memory, is why there are spell slots.
Similarity, this same (yet with variation by caster class) channeling is what other magical classes endure and do, with their obvious differences on 'source of magics'.
Sorcerers (and perhaps other spontaneous casters), have their internal pool of magical energies (much like Psionics), but their shtick, is they cannot tap into the full range magical weaving without serious change to their beings (I.e. gain levels).
That's my take on it, so it's not just a 'meh, cause that's how they designed it'.
Just realize, there are creative reasons, if you work it out, don't just go with what's easy and simple, that limits a huge point of the game- our creatie expression through the medium of the game system.
Oh, and I tend to use "circles" for spell levels, or ranks. Technically, it would have been easy to just say, "My power reserves are nearly depleted" or "Ah, He'll no. I is tired, yo!"
Encouraging creativity, don't go mundane in game. Or something.

Your repetitive bringing of this up is getting annoying.
You should take a moment to realize, he is expressing a source of frustration or annoyance, much like what you just did.
Consider the number of posts you've made expressing your own state of boredom.
Recommend, sir, less trying to criticize, without an attempt to assist or guide? Might be more engaging in life, aiding another when they /might/ be seeking aid.
Opal: hang in there, we have all endured patience due to our illustrious and busy GM for an assortment of reasons. Patience.

So, do all dragons have a humanoid for or is that just because they're casters?
Lewis the Jabberwock |
I'm mostly just wondering if I would.
I've got a pretty good idea of what he would look like.

Is the race listed online and stated out? Refer to that, otherwise, dunno. Embrace your lack of pathetic humanoid form!
Even your master is not humanoid, it just piggy backs on another's form!
Lewis the Jabberwock |
Jabberwock doesn't, but then again, no one has probably ever had the idea to use one as a PC before. Encounters with a jabberwock usually end in death for one party or the other. So roleplay isn't really something the page takes into account.
It just seems that a human form is just something that dragons seem to have universally in this campaign.

1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Well, no posting during lectures that's for sure. He doesn't even want folks using computers for note taking unless they sit in the front...well, good for me I always sit in the front. I was gonna end up with some serious carpal tunnel syndrome if I had to have another semester of handwriting notes. I do not do handwriting. Heck, I even use the computer for the handwritten notes though....That's why I have a tablet. So I'm not lugging around a veritable forest in paper by the end of the semester.
Anyhow, I've got classes monday and wednesday afternoon, a shorter class on tue and thu afternoon, and a math class on tue and thu evenings. So those are the non-posting times.
lynora |
Capt, I hate to say this, but as I am human and prone to the same quirks and annoyances as the next person, please cut it out with the passive aggressive posting about your new PC. I know you're excited to play the characters, but you need to know that continuing with this is demotivating me to do what you want. I get very contrary when faced with passive aggressive tactics. Well, more contrary. I'm always at least a bit contrary. You're going through the approval process at a fairly good speed considering the complexity of the character, and I will look over the changes again as soon as I can. I also need you to understand that weekends are primarily family time for me. That's kinda my deal so they don't rebel at how many hours I spend running this game. If I post at all on a weekend it's because they're busy doing something else. So those days don't really count the same when it comes to wait time. In other words, it hasn't been that long.
lynora |
So we only get you on Fridays? 8(
Mornings, tue and thu late afternoon, mon and wed evenings, and fridays....and of course the inevitable late night posting and whatever time I can get on weekends. This is pretty normal. Y'all just got spoiled by the summer posting schedule. :)

Vai Sunwake |
Technically, Vai is more of a half-elf with a dragon form than a dragon with a half-elf form.
All the Amethysts have humanoid forms because of the wishcraft... um... Sheess is a boss, so why not?
Actually, dragons taking a human form is a fairly common thing in Pathfinder - that's how the mingle with non-dragons. There are at least a few examples of this in Adventure Paths that I have played. (Most recently in the Jade Regent, where there is an Imperial dragon whom the party met as a human)
lynora |
Yup, I work at Starbucks.
I am only 25 after all. ;P
You're that much younger than me?!
*sigh* Now I feel old....
Not really though. I'm taking classes with folks your age and younger and am usually mistaken for a peer which is good for the ego....unlike when I actually was in my early twenties and actually had a jehovahs witness knock on the door and ask me if my parents were home. :/
Which is still better than the plane on the way back from my homeymoon...I was twenty at the time and we were in the row with the emergency exit....and the flight attendant was concerned I wasn't old enough for the age requirement of 14. :(
I come from a long line of babyfaced females and they all swore to me I wouldn't mind it so much once I got to my thirties. Which I grudgingly have to admit is true. :)

Yeah, everyone's always like "you should go as a dwarf for halloween!". And I'm like... yeah, I'm 6"3'. There's a irreconcilable height difference there ;P
I know what you mean about the baby-facedness, oh gods! That's why I grew the beard. I look 15 without the beard. Seriously. Now I don't even get carded ever. For anything. :D

Well, then you should go as a Viking! :P
And I still get carded. Well, not if I'm out with the family. The kidlet is ten. People can do that math. But if I go out with friends I get carded every time. I don't look that young. Ah well. There are worse problems to have. :)
Tybalt Baneko |
My family has the babyface gene too. But that's just cause we got the fat gene. XD
I'm also constantly mistaken as older or younger. No one ever gets my age right. :/
Costumes are tough too. Large characters I like are a rare commodity. I might Cosplay as Wreck it Ralph for ConNooga.
