The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

Male. Vaguely humanoid Ninja 3/Bard 1/Ranger 2/Scholar 1

I've not read/watched those last two yet.

Familiar of Zero is great pretty standard harem style with pretty good story. Fairy tail is newer and is basically a Dragon Ball that is suppose to have more funny than constipation.

Male sorcerer 16 wilder (leader/telepath) 3 elocater 2, thrallherd 1, pyrokineticist 10.

DB? Dragon ball?
Yeah would be a much better show without the grunting and the facial expressions, makes me think that half the plots would be fixed if they ate more bran

....sigh....

Guys (talking to game tab).... Just stow it.... Grab yourselves some humble pie and eat a big chunk...

Ace has every skill check and test already covered...get used to playing 4th 5th and 6th fiddle

Yah I just shorten Dragon Ball to DB. I went ahead and changed it though.

Point is (and Oneiro was trying to make I think) is that even with +542553523252353254 to skills, they aren't a perfect solution to every problem.

Sometimes having too much knowledge can be a bad thing too, just remember that.

ENOUGH!

WTF?! WHy did you even start this? In a non-competitive setting he made a frikking knowledge check....cue the snarky comments. I've about had it. Let it go.

Yeah....I understand...

Though my question is how all the people with perma "see-everything" can cope with the rediculous amounts of magic.... They should be utterly blind with their eyeballs scorched out of their sockets.....

Male sorcerer 16 wilder (leader/telepath) 3 elocater 2, thrallherd 1, pyrokineticist 10.

I pass all perception checks, almost all intimidate checks, most spellcraft, bluff and most non insane knowlege checks
Ace makes all the rest of them.
I am fine with this
Edit: my acrobatics/fly checks are fairly insane

I disagree as long as you know how to deal with it and that not all knowledge should be shared.

I do have to say not all Knowledge can be found in a book or with spirits. Many times you just have to go and find the information yourself.

Apparently me too. Use emoticons if you're joking. Dry humor doesn't translate well across the interwebz.

The above quoted comment that started my little rant here is way not cool and doesn't look anything at all like telling people to drop it. It looks like hey let's continue this with more snark.

I usually give them the ability to shut it off unless they want to see. That's why Aananda's eyes always change when she's using tech-vision or true seeing. It's a physical representation of the idea that this isn't always on. Cause yeah, that would be ....painful.

Male Human Gestalt: Binder 16, Wizard (Enchanter) 6

I attempted (and failed) apparently to use the profile (the jester) as a hint that I was joking.....

I am not that used to emoticons....they seem to vary on meanings....

Seriously guys, a bit sick of the dick waving contests. It's really not what this game is about.

I should be annoyed too, because Tyrrin's spent her whole (long-lived) life studying pretty much, and only has a +25... but here's the thing:

Who cares what Ace's skill check is? I don't. He doesn't frikkin run around solving everyone's problems, he doesn't abuse it. He's been very sensitive to storyline as far as I'm concerned, not using his skill checks as a fix-all.

So can we drop it already please? All it does is create animosity.

true seeing I can't turn off, but that shouldn't be painful, arcane sight...detect psionics.. That probably does hurt which just adds to the crazy. Constant eye pain when he forgets or chooses not to suppress it...

Uh...a single lvl 16 caster leaves a glowy aura of him and his magic being there.... Now layer that with hundreds of students and their gods powerful magic items.... Blindness isn't far from my guess.

Shadow Lodge

Source, Treisdan. I've never seen that before.

Male Human Gestalt: Binder 16, Wizard (Enchanter) 6

Detect magic, magic leaves an aura behind based on its power... 16th level caster is strong aura.... Stays for 10d6 minutes..
The weapons here are almost artifact level... Which leaves am overwhelming aura... 1d6 days....

Residual auras are always faint, those would be mostly fine, if mildly painful

I thought casters didn't have a magical aura unless you were using an ability like Arcane Sight?

Link me please Treisdan?

how many people here walk around without any spell on them?

89% have some type of magic on at all times...and all linger...

Dave read the spell... They eventually fade down to faint...they don't start as faint

I figured you were going to test on a preliminary subject, not Ehos.

Tyrrin doesn't magic herself except for the occasional Haste... neither does Vai... Ardiente doesn't have magic... and Vare also doesn't magic himself, except for the fact he has a bunch of Contingencies cast.

Thankfully for all of us there are no preliminary subjects to test on....if this happened to more than one student we'd all be doomed.

Ace has no spells active on him most of the time.

His staff however, is pretty much an artifact, or at least an overwhelming aura.

Know nothing bout tyrrin.

Vai has magic shoulder pet and amulet

Ardi... Is a magic creature....

Vare's spells are overwhelmingly strong in aura...

Shadow Lodge

Ardi isn't a magic effect though.

Male Human Gestalt: Binder 16, Wizard (Enchanter) 6

True. But doesn't change the case that every spell lingers... And the buildup is pretty bad for everyone walking around going: I have permanent detect everything! .... I know resources are unlimited and people can cat permanency....but come on...that's dangerous here .....

The Half-Alive Streets | Truth of the Seeker | The Sanctuary of Drowned Delight

Alright, I'll grant Vai's pet and amulet are quite powerful... the amulet is beyond artifact level... so yeah.

Ardiente radiates no magic - he's a Native Outsider with no caster levels of any kind. Midori would radiate more magic than Ardiente (she has a manifester level), and she's a native outsider as well.

Vare admittedly has some magic on, but he also has access to magic which would hide his auras.

Male Human Rogue 16/Magus 9
True Seeing:
He is wearing a blank white mask

I hide all my magic... Items or not.... Yet somehow Dave argued that it didn't matter.... all it does apparently nothing.

I think thats the best way to play it, Its why I have Johnny doing a "scan" and Starlight "Opening" her 3ed eye to use the whole other sight thing.

Simple but works and adds to game I feel ;)

So, unrelated to the current magic aura discussion, I've got a pic of how I typically go around, minus the guitar.
