The new Chandra looks super gross, especially for this weird counterburn flier deck that I'm building out from the stuff I got from last Friday's draft. But Kaladesh looks better than all of that combined. Really looking forward to playing it.

All this talk about soul-trapping and killing champions kinda reminded me of something:
I was actually considering making a villain who killed champions and found ways to prevent the mantle from being passed on-probably via soul trapping-simply to stop the patrons from playing their games and almost destroying the universe every Tuesday.

Monkeygod |

What's the relation like tween gods, champions and patrons, that share the same 'portfolio'?
Do gods see champions as just powerful mortals, something akin to demigods, equals(doubtful, but ya never know), or other?
Do patrons generally get along with gods who share their concept? Despise them? Would it vary based on the deity in question?(for example, how does Death view gods of death that are evil, and focused on necromancy and the undead vs a neutral god who judges souls and maintains an afterlife?)

From what I remember...
The patrons view the various gods like children. They were servitors to the patrons much like angels or the like are servitors to gods. Over time, they had a much more public face, and mortals, began to worship them. The gods took on this role gladly, and the patrons were happy to fade into the background and let the gods manage the day-to-day in each realm/universe, while they managed big-picture things that spanned universes.
Deciding they still needed servitors, after coming to a mutual agreement, they came up with the Champions.

Yeah, doesn't work like that. Best you can do is to put a champion in a coma. Otherwise the rules are such that the Patron can just move on. But they may or may not be happy about it. They are trying to position themselves in certain ways for a long-term purpose that won't make sense until you actually see the whole tangle play out. But I'm kinda feeling like you guys are missing the whole moral ambiguity angle. They're not evil. They're just not good either. They are both and neither. And the alternative is worse. :)

This is close to correct, but missing some key points. The Patrons made the gods, and yes, viewed them like children/servants. (Patrons are in general (not all of them...yes, this is an important distinction) terrible parents.) The gods made mortals, trying to be like their own makers. But then the gods got ideas above their station and thought they didn't really need the Patrons. They could do the job just as well, better even, themselves. So they rebelled. There was a war. At the end of it there were rather quite a few less gods and some definite lingering hard feelings on both sides. But the Patrons realized that the gods couldn't be trusted to be their representatives, so they all got together and created the system of Champions that we currently see, where each Patron chooses a mortal to represent their interests.

The whole moral story of the patrons is a lot like Bruce Almighty. Give incredible power to flawed beings, and stuff just doesn't go well for anyone.
Yeah, pretty much this. Although this story highlights their flaws. They tend to keep their cool much better and not go all stupid when they're not all crammed together and when Fear doesn't keep infecting the others and driving them over the edge all the while heaping the blame on Madness. :)
Facing the end of existence often doesn't bring out the best in beings....

I have a really cool idea for a plotline, but 1) I need to make sure it hasn't already been done(Which I will find out as I read through the backlogs. Don't wanna ask cuz I don't wanna spoil the surprise) and 2) I wanna wait till after the Equinox Festival Ace, Ehos, Ty and others are going to, cuz I want some of them to be involved as well.
Also, Lyn question and suggestion:
1) What does Ephebe currently teach? She's the head mistress for the elementary wing, but she's also a teacher, correct?
2) Perhaps when you are feeling better, and have spare time, a list of known teachers and their classes would be helpful? :)

Just make sure to run the idea by me to make sure it's not already in process. :)
Ephebe teaches one of the elementary classes. Specifically the one for the special kids i.e. the ones most likely to be a danger to themselves and others. All elementary classes are general ed, unlike how the main school works.
I need to update the list in the campaign info, but it's also posted in this thread. (Thanks LF)

Lyn has allowed Al to take a PoW class as part of his gestalt on a trial basis only. It's not been fully approved, yet.
He hasn't gotten into combat yet, so the verdict is still out, I reckon.
EDIT: He's a Dread 16 || (Soul Hunter) Stalker 6 / Umbral Blade 10.
Yep, this. Path of War is an adaptation of a book I don't allow so I am being very cautious about giving it a trial. Best to go with something else for anything you want to bring in soon since I have no set timeline for how long it will take before I decide if it's okay or not.

So, once Ephebe starts teaching again, would Jacob be in Ephebe's class?

lynora |

Monkeygod wrote:Aananda is head of security.I have a cool concept for the head of security, if that role hasn't already been filled.
Is Path of War and it's expansion allowed?
For now. He got the idea from Ephebe's latest post, where she was talking about Ryleh saying that she thinks Aananda needs to resign from her security duties and just focus on teaching. Ryleh is understandably concerned about Aananda and the babies since Aananda tends to overwork to the point of collapse. She's not really wrong either.

Fieri was only subbing that one day. Ephebe went back to normal teaching duties the rest of the week that just passed. We glossed over it because they were uneventful days, that's all. And yes, Jacob is in her class.

In other news....
Has the event at the factory been put on hold?
Damiani's been incommunicado since September 9 (if my search-fu on our threads is accurate), and since it's the one thing holding us up from moving on to the Equinox stuff 'tomorrow' I just wanted to make sure I didn't miss something...

I have enough basic info to keep it going through the first part of the investigation I think. Not sure what happened to Dami and I have no way of finding out. If anyone else knows how to get in touch with him, then please do. It's not like him to not post for a month.
