I think that's the equivalent of:
When preparing spells for the day, a wizard can leave some of these spell slots open. Later during that day, he can repeat the preparation process as often as he likes, time and circumstances permitting. During these extra sessions of preparation, the wizard can fill these unused spell slots.
But it's actually a bit better, because the wizard can't abandon slots or fill expended spell slots. However, the wizard doesn't take as long to fill empty slots.

Ragadolf |

True,
I also like the alchemists ability to fill unused infusions on the fly.
Don't know WHAT you may need? Wait until you see what your up against, spend a few minutes, and presto, infusions custom made for the encounter!
(Presuming that you get to see what's coming before it sees you, of course!) ;)

In another campaign, now that i have the slots, I tend to leave one free -- the ability to fill the empty flask later in the day is *very* useful -- but I think only once have I ever managed to mix up a second mutagen.

Still,... It's nice to know that you CAN, if you get the chance. ;)

I added Rexus as an NPC (not a GMPC, but he is a major NPC in this AP). Unfortunately, the campaign display is not working correctly, so he shows up in the "Previous NPC" section at the very bottom if I try to make him an active NPC. I flagged him as a PC so that you can see he's alive and around, but he is not my GMPC.
Some people get grumpy about GMPC's, so wanted to make this clear.

I used to run a table for friends, including my roommate. We've all moved to different places now, and she misses playing a real RPG. She has resorted to playing WoW.
She polled her WoW buddies and has about a half-dozen people interested in playing a Hell's Rebels game together. I can probably run it pretty easily, considering this group will be way ahead, but it might be a little tough with 6 noobs. They have varying degrees of experience with tabletop gaming but little to none with Pathfinder.
I was wondering if any of you would be interested in mentoring one new person through the first book of Hell's Rebels - helping with character creation, teaching them the ins and outs of playing their class, helping them level up from 1 to, say, 3? I thought if they could each have a mentor who would help them via PM, we'd keep the discussion thread relatively clean and they wouldn't be so afraid to ask what they might consider stupid questions. It's especially useful if you speak WoW, but not necessary.
I am going to make it core-only to keep the amount of material available to a minimum, so we won't get half-dragon summoners or anything.
If this is something you'd be able and willing to do, PM me please. And if you don't feel like it, don't worry! My roomie speaks both Pathfinder and Wow and can translate for me.
Thanks!

Sorry for the deluge of Saturday posts, but this popped into my head and needs to come out.
I was thinking of how much fun swashbuckler/musketeer looks and thought... what if we had a game in which every character was swashbucklery, and the game had a very Three Musketeers feel? I have a few ideas for how to set that up and where. One person is kind of sick of Cheliax (understandable), so I can put it in another location. I have a couple of ideas. It would be a mostly urban campaign with some travel missions - classic Dumas stuff.
I'm mostly interested in having the story be good and the combat exciting, so would write things for that purpose. You wouldn't have to stick to normal rules like don't split the party, or fighter/mage/cleric/thief. I'd make things work. You wouldn't have to be a swashbuckler, either, as long as your character had that feel and similar abilities. My old tumbling/rapier wielding cleric would work in this, for example.
The only thing is, I'd want to run a GMPC. She would be a Nicea/Porthos/Jayne-like character - not much in the way of smarts or planning - so wouldn't drive the plot at all, just hang out. And probably blaspheme a lot.
What think you? Any interest?

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

I'd be quite interested.
Have more than a few ideas popping into my head -- would be easy to make a warpriest of Cayden Cailean fit right in, for one.
A paladin of Shelyn could easily be quite the dandy, while a paladin of Arshea would totally fit (going holy gun would even get the mechanics work). Paladin could end up Aramis-like if you're heading for the devout, or a bit more D'Artagnian-like.
Roguish character would be pretty simple -- I mean, you almost have to try to build a rogue that wouldn't fit in the swashbuckler world -- urban ranger, investigator, hunter, slayer -- all have a lot of options (and, of course, Arcane Duelist, Dervish Dancer or Archaelogist bard).
So, yes, I'm in.
Rags -- I'd looked at multiclassing swashbuckler/magus before -- I recall that there's an arcana that you can take that lets you use your arcana pool like panache.... And I seem to recall there's an archetype that goes that way too.

Ragadolf |

1st (Or 2nd?) thing I thought of was pretty much ANY worshiper of Cayden, yeah. :)
Yes there is an arcana (somewhat nerfed, at least for PFS as I vaguely recall) that allows Magus to become a jr-league Swashbuckler.
I wouldn't want to burn ALL of my Arcana on Swashbuckler tricks (IF I did that, I'd just play a Swash) But the first 1 or 2 looked good to very useful, and/or a couple of Swashbuckler-y feats.
OR gun feats, in this case,... ;)

Benjamin D'Blaxtar |

Yeah I'm good.
Due to Gifted Satirist, Ben won't be able to resist writing up a few good witty barbs about the latest debacle of House Thrune. And he'll likely run them by Val for tweaking, or in case she wants to use any of them herself. (He's the writer, not the performer) ;)
Interval used for Brewing Mutagen and Elixers.
And with my brew potion, maybe a few more potions? (Basically any Formulae I know as a potion, but for 1/2 price)
I wouldn't want to spend ALL of the cash money, but a couple more CLW at least.
Maybe an Enlarge or Reduce person to share with party for a (major?) fight? I'm guessing most of us would benefit more from the Dex bonuses of a Reduce?

Valexia Aulamaxa |

Valexia would be always happy to lend her critical eye, and possibly her voice if the sound of the barbs are good enough. She'll spend the intervening time performing to raise a little bit of cash as well, if she can, possibly planting some seeds of dissent in her own way.

GM Treppa |

OK, figured it out and am ready to roll with the map as soon as you are.
I added the Silver Ravens Treasury to the Campaign Information tab. If you are using gold for ingredients, etc, let me know how much and I'll subtract it from the remainder. I've assigned items to the people holding/using them.

Ragadolf |

Ben wrote:"Hrm,... Maybe a TAD less frost venom next time,..." ;PWait, is frost venom a thing in Golarion? I went to look up "frost spider" in the bestiary, then realized that's an Elder Scrolls beastie. Now I'm having spatial gaming fugue.
Oh, I have NO idea!
I was just writing in a hurry, and tried to come up with something that sounded Alchemy-ish. ;)
Whatever it was that he used, It was a very potent batch! :)

Ragadolf |

OK, so I don't want to use ALL of the money we have for potions, BUT I have a few useful items, so why don't you all vote/decide if we spend all of the cash on my making potions (Basically anything I can create we get for half price/creation cost) of if we need any other gear first. (Arrows? etc?)
I replaced both my original CLW potions. (2)
I can create Shrink & Enlarge potions
(Also Comprehend Languages & Heightened Awareness, but didn't figure we needed those in potion form just yet) ;)
All of these cost 50GP for a 1st lvl version of the potion, I create for cost (1/2) so basically 2 for 1! :)
I was thinking the 2 CLW, and 1 each Enlarge & Shrink, total = 100GP for all four.
My own elixirs will do for me, and/or I can make another CLW for emergencies. (We ARE presuming that this place isn't unguarded, right?) :)
Let me know.
Also, OOC, Due to the last encounter going GREATLY against what my PC had in mind (Miniscule maniacal mayhem, but ended up with a crowd in the way) MY guy was thinking the opposite this time, Big and strong instead of small and dextrous? (Presuming that we do NOT want him to burn down the warehouse? At least not until we get what we want out of it?) :)

Ensis Spirius Corax |

I'll be out of town 'til Monday.
Just pretend Ensis is flirting inappropriately while I'm gone, and he'll stab things that attack us.

Treppa |

Home, home again. I like to be here when I can.
Have fun!
Much to my surprise, I did! Mom and I had a good time doing a lot of nothing. Her health and mental state are good. She was interested in a lot of geneology research I'd done on her side.
PLUS! the centenary celebration of the Somme led us to realize that the centenary of the Third Battle of Ypres is coming up next September. We thought it would be appropriate if we went to Flanders and/or Brechin and/or Edinburgh (we'll see where the Black Watch is having its memorial) to commemorate the loss of Mom's Uncle Jamie at Polygon Wood. So, funds allowing, I might visit the UK for the first time next year! Everyone else has been but me, so this is a big deal. :D
I will be out of town almost 2 weeks straight (Visit family, then kids to Space Camp, with visits to work in between)
Safe travels, Rags, and check in when you can. Are you still planning to play in the Musketeer campaign?

Ben grins, then tosses a clay flask casually over his shoulder, where it bounces off the ground and rolls through the gate.
"Do what now?" He asks, over-acting the innocent bit as he saunters down the alley way she indicates. As he turns the corner there is a 'BOOM' from inside the gate.
What did you throw into the old stable full of straw? o_O

Meowselsworth |

I'm starting an Avatar: The Last Airbender game! I have space left for only one person, either an airbender or a firebender, but check it out if interested. First come, first serve.
