Oh yeah!
Speaking of, I have read various posts re: who can use magic items,
Like healy-sticks. :)
(And I feel I have asked this before, but, I've got both Old-man brain, all work on what is supposed to be a 3 day weekend, and Bronchitus. So gimme a break) ;P
The following is if you are NOT using UMD, obviously. :)
One point of view seems to be if it isn't made for your class specifically (which puts a major limitation on many items IMHO) then you can't use it. period. Meaning a cleric can use a wand of healing because it is on her spell list, but a Alchemist cannot, even though he has access to the SAME power as an infusion.
Others fall on the other side, saying that if you have access to the same spell, etc as another class, that you should be able to activate the magic item the same. This is carried out in Paizo books and stories where alchemists use alchemy to create wondrous items.
This debate also seems to include creating magical items as well. ?
Note- I know have read/realized that UMD is an Alchemist class skill (which Ben has points in) and this very skill seems to allow several legal bypasses of the base rules regarding item creatage/usage, which may be the very simple explanation of how the alchemists in the books are able to create all of these wondrous items. :P (I may have just answered my own question. I can't wait to get a couple of levels and start playing around!) :)
Which is a little more off-topic from the healy-stick response that I meant to make, but,... old man brain, bronchitis. Sue me. ;P

Rags, there shouldn't be a debate -- the rule is quite clear that alchies can use wands:
An alchemist can utilize spell-trigger items if the spell appears on his formuale list, but not spell-completion items (unless he uses Use Magic Device to do so.
Making them, however, takes a spellcaster.

Huh,
I thought that by using UMD to bypass certain requirements, (meaning you can take an additional +5 difficulty to the creation roll, bypassing one requirement of the item creation) an alchemist could make say, a healing wand?
I guess I was thinking it like this:
-Creating a wand requires a caster level, a wand to be enchanted (a certain amount of gold) and the spell to be put into the wand.
>An alchemist can spend the gold, and can provide the 'spell' but technically has no caster level.
-UMD can be used to bypass one requirement of item creation, in this case, having a caster level, if the roll is made. (UNLESS that is one of the few things that cannot be 'faked' by UMD? I know there is a short list, but don't have it memorized)
OK,. Now I'm just confusing myself. Time to take a refresher course on item creation! :)
Sigh, forget I said anything. For now. ;P
I just have always liked making stuff, in and out of games! :)

Bronchitis is The Not Fun.
And if you keep calling yourself an old man, terrible things will happen. You are younger than I. So, by extension, you're calling me old.
This may be in the wrong discussion thread...
Really?!?
I thought I really WAS 'the old man' of this group?!?
Yeah,... that's one way to get myself into trouble quickly,.... :D
Wait, we have a discussion thread for sticking our foot in our mouth? ;P

5d10 + 1d8 ⇒ (10, 7, 5, 10, 1) + (6) = 39
You're gathering quite a pile of loot. I have put together a spreadsheet recording what you've found and who had it last.
I'll keep adding treasure to it. In the meantime, you may want to really should look it over and decide as a group what to do with things. Remember, art and jewelry sell at full price, all others at half.
Value of A = needs appraisal.
You guys haven't discussed treasure disposition or party pools. As a player, I liked it when we kept healing stuff and some utility items in a party pool, since we were all bound to need it at one point, no matter who was holding it at the time. But you guys need to figure what is right for you. I can tell you, though, that as a frequent cleric, I did not want to keep wands of cure if I was being charged for their value. That got us to the party items pretty darned fast. ;)

Tilnar |

In general, I like to keep healing stuff as "party" -- and, more, I tend to think it's a good idea to allocate a share (or half-share) of treasure to the party (to pay for party-based expenses, including healing wands, as needed).
I also tend to work on the "party members buy items from the party based on its sale price" -- I think it ends up being fairer for everyone that way -- assuming we have access to a marketplace, at least, it means that nobody falls too far behind on the power/items curve.
In terms of looking over what we have (setting aside the ravens, of course), I'm thinking we can sell off the mundane stuff, at the very least - if only to reduce the amount of weight we're carrying. (Sadly, I don't know that we really have enough to worry about a full split just yet).
Also: Appraise is int-based and useable untrained -- I'm thinking we can kludge together a bunch of attempts to aid another in order to have a reasonable chance of success (until we can twist Ben's arm into taking the skill at level 2). ;)

Deanna Sarini-Marinaiox |

Appraise (Bronze Thrune Amulet): 1d20 ⇒ 4 "Nice, but I'm sure someone in town will want this.... either to recover it for the family or roleplay"
Appraise (Victocora Signet Ring): 1d20 ⇒ 13 "Well this is Rexus', I know he doesn't mind giving to the cause. But until we know what we need, theirs no point pawning off the old heirlooms."
Appraise (Mysterious Signet Ring): 1d20 ⇒ 12 "I wonder whose this is? Maybe I should go ask my Uncle Cyril, he's a bit of an old rogue & knows some secrets."
Appraise (Earring with Pale Stones): 1d20 ⇒ 13 "Well since they hold no enchantment, though pretty can easily be pawned."
Appraise (Nine Silver Buttons): 1d20 ⇒ 13 "These would make great identifying symbols or signals for our friends, allies, agents...."
Appraise (Pouch of Pearls): 1d20 ⇒ 19 "Supply should decrease due to Mayor-Idiot Thrunes edicts, which could be good for their price."

I updated the treasury sheet with the suggestion to sell all mundane items. Items sold are highlighted. If there's anything you want to claim, do it before we start the next part of the adventure and pull the sale gold from the total!
I've updated the map link to the start of the next map, using Google Drawings so you can move yourselves. If you are on mobile and having trouble, the coordinates are still present and you can put your move in your status update. Somebody will move your token (me if nobody else does).
I will post the start of the next section tomorrow night. Have any claiming or purchasing done by then if you want to have items at hand for the basement cleaning!

Ensis Spirius Corax |

Sounds good, Treppa.
Might be worth the party buying a nice Healy-stick.

Valexia Aulamaxa |

We do have 40 charges on the healy stick that we have. But I'm down for as many healy sticks as we can get! Valexia would be inclined towards using the +1 leather armor, but Bertom will likely get more use out of it. Valexia will hold any wands since she is the most magically adept out of our group of relatively unarcane rebels!

Ragadolf |

Ben will soon begin insisting that Magic is just alchemy that isn't yet fully understood! ;P
A couple of levels of UMD, and we will have a backup healy-stick user as well as potions master! :)
Sounds good Treppa, FYI- I'm stupid-busy, but will keep up as best I'm able. (I can always find some time to check and post, whether I SHOULD or not is another story!) ;P

GM Treppa |

So I had this dream last night that we decided to get together for a weekend of actual tabletop gaming. Rags looked like his aged wizard avatar, Tilnar looked like Ensis, Meows looked like real Meows, Leo looked like Bertom, and DSX was this weird faceless being - kinda creepy. We were staying in a southwest-style adobe hotel that had storage rooms filled with armor. A couple of you dressed up like Beefeaters and carried pikes, for some reason. We spent most of the time talking or gaming, though at one point I did go out to check the thickness of the ice on the St. Petersburg river, which was a short way from the hotel across a couple of fields. It was plenty thick, but rotten on top.
Man, I dunno.

Last week, it started dropping again, and worse than ever. I mean, it was failing while running the boot-time chkdsk required because it had failed the last time! I was really worried about losing my files if the disk drive kept getting that kind of abuse, but it was failing before I could even start a backup. Swapped the mouse and monitor - no help. Finally unplugged the keyboard... and it stayed up. Typed the message yesterday on the Windows Accessibility on-screen keyboard. Luckily, I had already ordered this slick new keyboard, mechanical and beautifully blue-back-lit so I can work at night without the lights on. The machine has been up and running for 4.5 hours now. Fingers crossed! And I am backing up my files now.
If I have spent five years battling a keyboard problem, I will be miffed. Maybe I'll drive up to Mt. Evans and drop the old keyboard off a cliff or something. Illegal, but satisfying.

Ragadolf |

Wow.
<Blinks>
On the GOOD news front, you pretty much have a brand new super-duper gaming PC,... Yes? Complete with new fancy-schmancy keyboard? :)
PS-
PS(PS)- Yeah,... that last bit sounded WAY better in my head. Promise. :P

GM Treppa |

No, I need more memory... and a better graphics card... or two? And one of those curved displays... or two? Frankly, my new mobo sucks. I won't be buying MSI again. Ah, hell, I'm gonna go all the way and build a VR system next. May as well. Once I save up a few thou. ;) I do have my lovely Orbweaver, though. <3
In the meantime, this works fine for maptools, Scrivener, chrome, and Goat Simulator.

As a head's up, I'm about to be out of town and without easy access to a computer for about 2 weeks -- basically, I'll be able to post Monday (13) and then not again 'til the 28th.
Feel free to bot Ensis -- generally, just remember he's a flashy show-off sort who will tease Ben and flirt with the ladies -- but try not to get him killed. Being a martyr is just so... pedestrian. ;)

GM Treppa |

I must confess: the MSI mess is my own fault. I was in such a hurry to rebuilt my system that I didn't read the component reviews. Thus, I didn't know the board had 2-1/2/5 eggs on Newegg and 3/5 stars on MicroCenter's site. So, yeah, my bad. Lesson learned.
The new keyboard didn't fix the power-down issue. Now my work laptop is powering down randomly. I'm snakebit. And before you ask; yes, I've swapped the power strips and am currently house sitting. My laptop is still powering down at the new house. fml
Got all the gaming goodies relocated to the portable book drive and software installed everywhere, so I can write posts from whatever machine happens to work at the moment.
Game on!
Tilnar: Anyone you trust to run Ensis or would you prefer I conservatively bot him?

LOL,
I know right?
What's the point of being a martyr if your not around to enjoy the benefits? (Like flirting with ladies who are crying over your brave demise?) ;P

GM Treppa |

Is it up now? Will it stay up long enough to have fun?
Two vital questions in life.
... about the pbp site. Naturally.
OK, you guys get your plan together and do something if you can. I should be able to post tomorrow during the day. Working today, class tonight, second job tonight, then sleep --- then posting.

Ensis Spirius Corax |

It seems to be working now, yes.
