Well, it could be worse... I like everybody in my RL group but that kind of breakdown is pretty much a once/session event. It's not everyone, but there's a couple of people that are for some reason really prone to that; worse still, one of them is GMing currently (last session he freaked out that my gun-user never misses... I do 1d6+2 damage at 6th level but he was all worked up that I hadn't missed all session).[/own venting]
Sorry.

Haladir - sounds pretty rough and, even if it was only for a few minutes of a long gaming session, I'm sure there was a cloud over the game after that... I think I am probably with everyone else here; probably just a 'spike' and an over-reaction to suddenly feeling 'not in control' anymore...
...plus, the Unchained Rules on poison are about three orders of magnitude better than Vanilla PF... Being poisoned (and, for that matter, diseased) actually mean something now - it feels tangibly closer to a physical (or mental) effect upon your character rather than a mere statistical anomaly...
...to the matter in hand though, will you (do you feel you ought to?) talk to the person before your next session?

Teldon – I’ve been following your Rise of the Runelords: ‘this one goes all the way to eleven’ edition recruitment with great interest… that’s going to be a wild game and you certainly got a whole load of folks excited about it. I’m looking forward to following the game once you get past the tricky task of selecting a group… I would have applied but I am deep into recruitment for the Legendary Planet game and so building a uber-complex character just didn’t seem possible at this time…
…in other news – new Doctor Who series this weekend and… the Rugby World Cup!!! We’ve got a few matches in the city where I live so it’s going to be pretty exciting…
Teldon Moore |
Ha- that's a much better title than the one I used! I've been following your recruitment thread as well; you also have a lot of people excited. If you'll permit me to be the little devil on your shoulder for a moment... an 11th level gestalt character with 1 mythic tier doesn't have to be über-complicated to be compelling and effective... You could just pick the class you mostly want to be then just add a second class that complements it without adding too many moving parts and build like you're just a pumped up version of the primary class... You don't even have to have all the calculating done this weekend, there'll be a day or so for tweaking and calculating after selections are made...
Part of me is excited for the new series starting this weekend, but part of me is apprehensive... I wasn't particularly fond of the last series. I thought Capaldi was a good casting choice and I want to like his Doctor but I don't think the writers did him any favors last series.
'Why was my wife able to keep talking to me on Trenzalore?' -don't care, asking Clara if I'm nice...
'Where exactly is that planet I thought I destroyed but actually saved?' -not important, exploring weird dynamics with Danny...
'What the heck was I doing in Pompei already when past me showed up there with Donna?' -it's believable that Danny could overpower the cyberman network, right?
GM Zed |
With you on the Doctor Who view - great Doctor but some really terrible stories!!! Robot of Sherwood, I'm looking at you!!! Plus side, I thought Missy was electric... And, from what I've seen, she's very much a feature of this season also...
And, just maybe... just maybe, I might put a character / concept together...

Wow... Is it really a year already? It's been a wild ride and, by jingo, it's been a load of fun!!! And, so much for my master plan of knocking each book out in 6 - 9 months!!!
...thanks folks for adventuring with me... here's to another year of fun and frolics in the deepest and darkest places of Varisia...

So I sat down to watch the premier of doctor who last night only to discover that my cable provider no longer carries BBC America. Thanks for the heads up Atlantic Broadband :(

1 person marked this as a favorite. |
The feast is reminding me of the dinner scene in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.
By the way, fried silkworm is a real thing!
Joanna Whitehall |
At least Jo's reacting better than the girl in the clip. :)
Joanna Whitehall |
You know, I've realized a couple of things.
1. Despite what Shel's mother said, Joanna is not much older than the Festival Queens. I'd think two years difference at most, and if you were to guess who's older, you'd probably sat Shel.
2. This is probably the first time Joanna's cussed, ever. Though it does seem appropriate.
All in all, this is turning into an enlightening experience. :D
In all seriousness though, I hope people are enjoying Joanna, rather than gettign annoyed with her.

As a player. I don't mind if your character's annoyed. :)
Joanna Whitehall |
I'm having a blast playing! Now, I just want to see if Joanna is in time or too late. That's probably going to affect how the rest of the module goes.
To be honest, I think the final confrontation is going to be good. I'm excited to see what happens.

sorry to diappoint, Zed. i'm still chipping away at my master's and mondays i have to drive 2 hours to class... so between finishing assignments and 4 hours of drive time my posts can be a bit rushed...

Hey, folks.
I'm leaving tomorrow afternoon on a five-day vacation to New England, and I am woefully behind in preparing for the trip, both personally and professionally. My posting will be sporadic at best until I get back late Monday night.
GM Zed: Please GMPC Ziomarra as need be.
I should be resuming regular posting on Tuesday 10/13.
Joanna Whitehall |
Same here, no worries and I hope you have a safe trip.
Briana Kaddren |
Since we share a few games, I'll just post it here and say 'Happy Birthday' to your daughter! I hope you guys have a fantabulous weekend :D
And hooray on breaking the 3k post barrier! I don't think I could narrow it down to a single 'favorite' game, but this is definitely one of my favorites :)
Joanna Whitehall |
Sorry all! For some reason this game went missing from my campaigns tab.

Hey-- anyone see this week's episode of Arrow? It featured the DC villain Double-Down-- who throws cards with deadly accuracy!
Teldon Moore |
Hey, this is totally unrelated to our game but my epic RotRL game is about a month old now... It's the first PbP I've ever run, so if anyone is curious (or bored) enough to read through it I'd absolutely love any feedback.
GM Zed |
I read the 'weekend posting' vs 'only in week posting' discussions in the discussion thread with some interest as my default has always been to make anything on Sat / Sun as non-mandatory / bonus... I can see how it will keep you folks fizzing along at a good pace if you can keep it up...
I'll have a read of the Gameplay thread in a short while - the main thing is... Are you enjoying it on the other side of the screen?
Teldon Moore |
For the most part I am, yes. A few of the posts while the party was still unconnected were tiresomely long to write, and it has been somewhat frustrating getting into a good rhythm by Friday and then having the game grind to a crawl over the weekend and having to start building momentum again on Monday, but I've enjoyed a lot of the RP stuff so far and the combat(s) seemed suitably challenging and exciting.
Joanna Whitehall |
Honestly, some of my best writing happens when I split the party. Kinda hard to avoid it when the GM comes up with ways to make it happen. >:D
Anyhoo. if you want some ideas, feel free to look at the RotRL game that I am running. I haven't gotten around to reading through yours, so no suggestions from me at the moment.

Hey folks, I just wanted to give everyone a heads-up that as of today I'm without a job and I'm not sure of how this will affect my posting for the next little while as I look for a new one. Right now, I should be okay to continue with the game but if that should change, I'll be sure to let everyone know.
Joanna Whitehall |
Here's hoping your next job is better than your last and that it comes soon!
Seriously, that's rough. I hope the job hunt's relatively painless.
