Sakuro, Obsessed Arcanist |
Sakuro took a deep breath as she focused her energies, preparing to cast a Grease spell as soon as the ogres came into range. She only had two of her stronger spells left today, and...
"If somebody has a torch, can you throw it at my grease after I make it?" she asked quietly, doing her best to remain completely hidden from the ogres for now. If it ignited properly, that could be a lot of fun...
Ready Action: Cast Grease when the ogres are 30 feet away from her.

A couple of the ogres hang back at that range.
A few moments later, the mass of them starts moving quicker, as all along the far eastern barricades, the grasses and underbrush turn against everyone there, winding up around feet and lower legs!
DC 14 Reflex for everyone around the barricades or Alyra!
Ref: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24

Auric Lightmane |

Auric looses his knocked arrow as soon as they begin to move aiming at whichever ogre he guesses might possibly be the leader from this range, maybe the one casting if he can see that
longbow (-2 range increment): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
for: 1d8 ⇒ 6
reflex: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
Deftly avoiding the creeping vines, he drops his bow and draws his greatsword. As he does so, the gold of his hair fades to blond and his frame seems to grow somehow thicker or heavier... used Alter Self SLA to become humanoid version of self

Nia'Nikta |

Nia'Nikta shifted as the plants rose against them trying to look at the group going a separate way.
Reflex: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
With a huge chunk of the defenders wrapped up that other group could cause havoc.
Knowledge:Nature: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13 To identify the ogres for the bardic performance to work. Woot by the skin of my teeth
"Watch it they are big creatures but if you aim for their legs and knees you can hamstring them easily." Nia's voice range out as she started her bardic performance
She said as everyone struggled from the vines though she had the sneaking suspicion they would just go around as the defenders were locked up.
Do we actually have a combat map? Cause How close/far from the edge of the entangle am I?
Also Nia and any allies within 30 feet gain a +1 insight bonus to AC and on attack rolls and saving throws against exceptional, supernatural, and spell-like abilities used by creatures of that specific kind of monster

Sakuro, Obsessed Arcanist |
Initiative: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
Sakuro continued waiting in the tree - her magic was unfortunately close-range, and there was no sense in casting it until they were close enough to actually be tripped up by the power of her enchantments. For now... watch, wait, and keep an eye on the ones headed for the lack.
Continue Readied Action.

Auric Lightmane |

initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19
Being careful to try to stay within 30' of both Nia and Jun, Auric maneuvers out of the enchanted overgrowth and prepares to do battle with any ogres that come his way. assuming I can make it out in a single move (in a direction that keeps me in N&J's ranges) I'll ready an action to attack the first ogre I can, otherwise I'll double move to that spot.
"Tania," he calls out, "can you see the leader? Which one is he?"

Bad-Luck Baldek |
Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
At the first sign of ogres, Baldek prepares his sling for a "welcoming shot" and waits for them to reach the fifty yard range. When the vines catch him, he curses loudly, forgets about his sling, and just tries to get out.
MvA to get out with a Str check.
First MvA: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
"Ahah!! Ready for you!!" he shouts and lets the stone fly, even though it's still quite far to the ogres...
Sling: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 231d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 Please adjust for range if needed.

Moving on, the ogres continue to close to 80', and the patriarch and remaining warrior close to 170', where the patriarch casts again, this time catching the area around the road - but not the road itself, where there are no plants.
It's obvious that the bulk are headed your way, while some go for the road, and some that split off angle toward a ways farther west, while a couple of them seem to be trying to skirt the barricades completely.
I'll post initiative order in the morning.

Antonio Nedraid |

"Tania! What do you see?" Yelled Antonio, who itched to just go run down after the group that went towards the lake, but knew they had to concentrate their forces to have any chance to take down the ogre forces at all.
Antonio takes a bead on the caster and shoots.
light crossbow attack: 1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (9) + 5 - 4 = 10 for a possible 1d8 ⇒ 7 points of piercing damage.

Sakuro, Obsessed Arcanist |
Adrenaline began pumping through Sakuro's body as things got started, but her magic was of limited range - especially right now - and rushing things wouldn't help protect anyone. Instead, with a grim determination that was quite at odds with her normal demeanor, the girl continued to wait for the ogres to approach within 30 feet of her hiding place in the trees.
Continue Readied Action.

![]() |

Keep in mind - anybody in the area of the trees is outside of the entangle, but also about 60' farther back - so the ogres are 140 feet from the trees at 80 feet from the barricades. Anybody that didn't leave the entangle now needs to save again, and this will continue for every round of the fight, unless it takes a very long time. Auric has (bravely? Foolishly?) come out from behind the barricades, so he's free, for now.
Please read up on it. There are significant penalties.

Auric Lightmane |

i'm unclear... Does that GM post mean we can post next round actions now, or will there be a post that says to go ahead?
Auric quickly surveys his situation am I the only one clear of the entangle/barricade over here, and how many ogres are coming at me?

Alyra |

Aya, if you're back in the trees, that's 60' behind the barricades, and the ogres have 80' to get to the barricades. That's 140' feet. They'll close to 80' to you (and 20' to the barricades) very soon. I'm assuming your casting goes off as they hit that 100' mark (40' to the barricades).
Ok, let's get into what amounts to the third round - Alyra will follow Auric - quickly, if she makes the roll, slowly if not.
Ref: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
We may have to abandon the barricades! This isn't good.
There are half a dozen ogres headed for the eastern edge of the barricades - and it looks like the leader and his escort are going to be following them. There are three other groups of three or four, the group headed for the road, and the two heading farther west. The younger ones are scattered through those groups.

Auric Lightmane |

so there's 6 normal ogres charging us, plus the warrior and leader behind them? and our party members are the only ones at this barricade?
Stay behind me, Alyra, I'll do my best to protect you while the others get clear... Jun, Baldek, Nia, this way!
Auric switches his stance and holds his greatsword high and forward in a very defensive position taking Total Defense action. He stands where the barricade will protect him from being flanked (as long as that still doesn't take him past 30' from Nia and Jun).
If you have any defensive magic, now is the time to use it! ARCHERS, WE NEED ARROWS RAINING DOWN NOW, PLEASE!
Baldek, when you save this time remember its a magical effect, so you get the +2 racial bonus

Reiko Arashi |

Intitiave: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Reiko shouts from his position by Sakuro, where he is trying to keep her defended.
Where are they? What's going on?

Sakuro, Obsessed Arcanist |
Sakuro shut her mouth as Alyra answered the question, and... well, with their distance back from the barricades, maybe this wouldn't be working so well after all. Grease wasn't a long-range spell, after all, though a better arcanist than she could probably have tossed it somewhat further out. "You want some Mage Armor after all?" she called down towards Auric.

Antonio Nedraid |

Reflex save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
Antonio moves another 30 feet back and shoots the caster again.
light crossbow attack: 1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (9) + 5 - 4 = 10 for a possible 1d8 ⇒ 7 points of piercing damage.

Auric Lightmane |

i didn't mean you could take a 5' step- I meant you might be able to move 5' as a move action (1/2 speed from entangle puts you at 10' which is enough to move 5' in difficult terrain...)

Nia'Nikta |

"Okay, it would have been nice to know he was a caster. But remember Ogres are large and depend on their brute strength and tend to attack from above. Aim low." Maintaining performance
Reflex: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Nia manages to not get grabbed and makes her way after Alyra and out of the entangle.

Sakuro, Obsessed Arcanist |
The ogres continued to approach, and with her lack of truly long-range magic prepared (and limited arcane energies anyway), Sakuro simply began biting her lower lip and waiting for when the enemy would finally be in position to be struck by her spread of magic. On the bright side, nothing magic happening for so long probably meant that they wouldn't be expecting it later... and it was hard to resist the voice telling her to rush out and do something, anything, that would make everything she'd been waiting for pointless.

The ogres actually slow down, at this point, and you see javelins coming out - at 50', they throw!
