The ruined monastery is exactly one of those places parents warn their children about. I wonder why...

Liberty's Edge

The giant javelins are scary, but overall, pretty ineffective against an armoured party.

On the bright side, none of the javelins had come her way - because, among other things, she wasn't armored at all, and those things were freaky. She enjoyed magic, cushions, and books - giant stabbing implements were exactly the opposite of everything she liked in life, and she huddled down just a little bit more as she waited to spring her trap.

We may have to go to the patriarch.

Alyra sounds determined, but waits for responses.

HP 17/28 AC15 Nia'Nikta

Nia hisses as the Javalin sinks into her her shield not catching it in time.

AC 17 HP 10/17

"Agreed, this fight is completely on his terms and not ours. We should take the fight to him. Jun, Can you get to Shadowstar? If so you can ride him by telling him Apples for Dinner."

Liberty's Edge

Tania unleashes her attacks at the ogres in the distance:

Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
Damage: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
Damage: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11

One ogre takes an arrow to the shoulder and another deep into the chest, and suddenly looks very reluctant. More arrows pepper the ogres from the villagers in the trees, but few have any effect. A bit to the west, a similar situation unfolds, but there are no.archers backing up the defenders.

Of course, nobody's entangled, either.

Jun continues to struggle against the vegetation so he can get to Shadowstar. Finally he untangles himself. "On my way Nia!" he calls out.

Don't forget - everyone close to Alyra was in the link, and will be healing five points on their turn. Jun is definitely moving out, but at half speed. It'll take a little time to get clear of the entangle. I'll be nice and call you 20' in. ;)

I think that brings initiative back to me, right? With my Total Defense action none of those javelins hit me.

"I think you're right, Alyra," Auric replies, "stay as close to me as you can, both of you, I may provide some cover from their javelins."

Auric moves forward 20 feet if I understand things correctly that should mean that only the 1 or 2 closest ogres can single move to me carefully maintaining his defensive posture Total Defense, and calls out, "Jun, make haste- it will not be long before we will need your healing!"

"WELL STRUCK, TANIA! ARCHERS, FOCUS YOUR ARROWS ON SINGLE TARGETS UNTIL THEY FALL- TWO HURT OGRES INFLICT TWICE AS MUCH DAMAGE AS ONE HEALTHY OGRE AND ONE DEAD ONE!"

Liberty's Edge

Yessir, we're at the top of what I'll call round 4. :) I'm assuming Auric is looking to go wide, around the ogres?

Liberty's Edge

Botting Baldek again.

Str: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Growling and cursing, Baldek's foot is still stuck, no matter how he tries wrenching it free.

are the ogres in a line or a clump? if there in a clump we'll go around... maybe pick off a straggler on the edge... if they're in a line we'll try to punch through wherever the archers open a whole (by getting 1 or 2 to drop or run away)... and maybe still take out 1 or 2 on the way...

also, when you're botting Baldek remember that trying to break free is a move action, so he can actually try twice per round... and i'm not sure how many fails it will take for him to 'lose it' but he has a lot of rounds of rage which will greatly improve his chances of breaking free...

Liberty's Edge

Yes, they're in a clump...and you're right. Let's rage next time. :p

With two more well-placed shots, one falls and another gasps in pain as an arrow buries itself in an ogre's upper thigh.

Perception DC 12:
Though there's a lot going on, out of the corner of your eye you spot Drokar as he rushes out from the barricades, his path an intercept course for three ogres - two of them juveniles.

Yeah, dat's right! YER KIDS BELONG TA ME!

Liberty's Edge

Evil Stuff: 1d20 ⇒ 11

Two of the ogres heading for the eastern edge virtually do an about-face, and run BELLOWING toward the dwarf. The other three continue on their course.

No, they don't move until zero, but you can see it starting to happen.

The warrior slows for a moment, and the patriarch catches up at 80' from the edge of the barricades. That's also about 80' From Auric, as he had to angle out.

did Alyra ever actually act? She suggested moving then seemed to hold her action... Also, who all is left to act this round? If Reiko and Sakuro are still waiting, I think that just leaves Nia, Jun, and the normal ogres, right?

Liberty's Edge

Alyra is with you.

Female Elf Wizard

You did not answer Auric's questions.

Liberty's Edge

I had like 30 seconds. Busy morning. I'll get to the rest in a while. Sorry.

HP 17/28 AC15 Nia'Nikta

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8

Nia would follow the group.

"Also interesting fact. Ogres weak points are right around joints. Occasionally, they will also us underhanded swings so watch out for that." She quipped maintaining the performance.

Liberty's Edge

Other than moving along with you, Alyra has been holding back. At this point, I think that everyone who is making a move has made one.

The ogres let loose, at this point, moving up to or around the barricades. A cluster is heading toward Drokar, and the one accompanying the young ones makes contact.

Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
Damage: 2d8 + 7 ⇒ (7, 7) + 7 = 21

The wily dwarf JUST BARELY avoids the tree trunk being swung at him, ducking at the last instant and slapping it off course with his shield.

Two make it to the road barricade, one smashing the sharpened poles only to have Manton's spear thrust at his face.

Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Minimal damage, but it keeps the ogre's attention as the sheriff rolls out to flank.

Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
Damage: 3d6 + 2 ⇒ (5, 4, 1) + 2 = 12

The sheriff seems off-balance, despite having the skill to make it work.

Auric and Nia, the ogres jeer and taunt, as they run around the barricade, otherwise ignoring you.

Liberty's Edge

As we move into the next round, the ogres are 60' from the woods, just coming around the barricades. There are three of them, one injured significantly.

This, at least, she could manage. Sakuro came out of the woods and - staying out of the way as much as possible - darted forward 30 feet to bring the ogres into the range of her spell. Finally, she had a change to do something useful, and a spread of Grease erupted forth to splatter around the feet of the monstrous creatures and hopefully be able to trip them up, making them much easier for the others to take down.

Auric begins approaching directly towards the leader and his bodyguard move 30'. His eyes glow slightly as he focuses his attention on evaluating the depths of their depravity hit them with detect evil.

"WE MUST MOVE QUICKLY TO BREAK THEIR SPIRIT BEFORE THE GRUNTS INFLICT TOO MUCH DAMAGE IN TOWN! TANIA, CAN YOU SOFTEN UP THE LEADER OR HIS GUARD? BALDEK, IGNORE THOSE ONES NEAR YOU AND MEET US AT THE LEADER AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN. ONCE THOSE TWO ARE DEALT WITH IT SHOULDNT BE TOO HARD TO CHASE OFF THE OTHERS..."

Yup. It looks like they figured you were leaving - heading rather perpendicular like you were - and they seem to have a target beyond the barricades.
As for Jun, I'll allow him to speak for imself.

Liberty's Edge

Baldek hustles along the barricades as fast as he can, at least free of the entangle. He reaches the end, ready to jump off, hoping that he won't have to worry about the weeds grabbing him, anymore.

Alyra moves 30' with Auric, and then casts on the warrior.

who all are we still waiting on this round? Reiko, I think is still waiting; Jun gets another chance to finish escaping; and Antonio and Nia haven't acted yet (neither have the 'grunt' ogres)...

Liberty's Edge

The patriarch looks very irritated that his guard has been taken out of the fight, and double-times toward Auric, Alyra, and Nia. This brings him within 20', and within the first range increment for her longbow (he's at roughly 80'), so Tania fires.

HP 17/28 AC15 Nia'Nikta

Is he within 20 feet after moving the 30 ft to keep up with Auric? Cause that matters since I have 15ft of reach with the whip

The second rush of Alyra's healing filled her sealing the wound from the javalin. 'Remember to thank her later. That magic is extremely useful

Nia'Nikta saw his pain and frustration. "Ogres tend to fight fiercer when in pain. But this will leave you opportunities to exploit. Watch for them and keep your wits about you." Nia said as she shifted her grip on her whip as she maintained the magic aiding them.

IF the above OOC is true and it is after moving the 30 ft, then this is a HELD action waiting until the Patriarch is in Range if Auric doesn't run to greet him first. Which if he does engage will be dropped to move and attack next round.

Well, her grease spell didn't seem to have done very much... and Sakuro just glared at the patriarch of the ogres. Liberty's Edge

For the others involved:

Drokar: 1d20 ⇒ 14
Sheriff: 1d20 ⇒ 8
Manton: 1d20 ⇒ 18
Others: 1d20 ⇒ 1

Drokar proves impressive, untouched as he actually carries through with his threat on a juvenile ogre, then retreats, followed by a group.
The sheriff does some good damage, but takes a nasty hit. Manton surprises himself by dropping the ogre the sheriff hurt - but the farmer beside Manton takes a brutal blow, and the ogres at the end of the line turn and blow through a weak point in the barricades, scattering defenders.

"Ahahah! Nobody said it was a "Greased Ogre Festival"!! That changes EVERYTHING!!!" shouts Baldek as he rushes forward to strike at the prone ogres.

As he moves closer to the threat, he feels an incredible rush wash over him; a mix of profound fear and thrill. He feels possessed by some spirit of the past, and every muscle of his body is jolted and loosened as he flips the axe with both hands.

Stopping short of the grease, he lifts his axe high above his head and lets it crash down with a fierce shout: "Yaaaaaaaargh!"

Not sure what kind of axe I have. Please adjust as needed.
