Leo shifts once and after divine challenging his chosen foe cuts loose with a holy strike that literally turns his sword into a beam of light slashing into the creeper!

Boy am I due a fumble! Use the minor action for the divine challenge which he can do this round shifted to H-5 before using the holy strike and then rolled a natural 20! Been rolling too many of those online than I do normally... that would be 1d8+6 with an additional 1d6 of radiant damage coming to 14+4 for 18pts of radiant damage to Creeper#5 I think I might be wishing Leo was actually where he was posted on that last map at this point!

Leo turns into a towering weapon of his god, bounding across the room and ruthlessly cutting down C5.

At this point, the only people in this room who can see anything are Cronin and Snaggletooth.

I know I'm a 24 hour dragon, but I also know that it's Memorial Day weekend and everyone is off. Deadline extended to UK morning, 26 May :D

Didn't know it was a holiday

Snaggletooth eases around and takes advantage of the last seconds of the creepers blindness, stabbing hard and deep. Nodding with satisfaction as the blow lands true, be ducks away again.
Deft Strike on C3 (Ref) (1d20 12=24, 1d4 4=5, 2d8=7)

Cronin holy symbol rises and the shifter sends more divine light powering into the creature. It finches away, but can't avoid the radiant light of Selune. Fairwind shakes her head as she tries to clear her vision, but can't manage it.
Sacred Flame (Ref) v C3 (1d20 7=26, 1d6 6=9).
Immediate save v blindness (1d20=3)

With a happy shout, Caine casts caution to the winds and charges the creeper, finally felling it.
Caine charges C3 (1d20 11=28, 1d10 4=6)

Congratulations on a very neat mopping up operation. OUT OF COMBAT - Everyone gets their sight back during the inevitable short rest (if you're having one). Please take 514XP, bringing you all to 5539. Level up to level 5 please.

Any bonuses to hp, surges or skills take effect immediately. You do not get the benefit of your new daily until you've taken an extended rest.

Male Kobold Rogue 6

Is that a desk on the side of the room? Whtever it is, I check it out. Perception=d20+9=24. I assume the creepers left nothing in their passing? (gold, silver, or magic items?)

While his companions rest, Snaggle checks the room out, looking for spoils.

While his companions rest, Snaggle checks the room out, looking for spoils.

The desk looks to have been hurriedly emptied. Snaggletooth kicks randomly at creeper cloaks, but sees nothing of particular interest. As always, the elusive shadow creatures self-destruct on death, leaving only their cloaks and basic equipment behind.

More daggers if you or Mirth want them. 8 undamaged all told.

Female Tiefling Wizard 6

Moving gingerly, Mirth wraps her cloak around herself, concealing the worst of her wounds.

"It would be wise to also consider the next floor alerted to our intent." she mutters, settling herself atop the desk that Snaggletooth has just ransacked.

Mirth is at 20 HP (1 surge remaining), and has enough daggers at present. Profile updated to level 5.

Caine raises his sword in triumph.

<Cinematic pose>

Sorry guys if I have been out of touch; I have this big case where I go up against a mayor who is extorting my client. The mayor had the roads leading to and from the refinery of my client destroyed under the guise of a public works project to force my client to pay an exhorbitant right of way fee. Sounds like a movie, right? No it's real life.

Female Genasi Firesoul Wizard 7

Spoiler:
"If you don't have anything more to say that's useful, I'm going to go talk to the priests and find out where I can find some of the members of the Order of the Blue Flame around here." Perigia turns on her heel and heads toward the door.

Perigia

Spoiler:

If Allendi is surprised by Perigia's sudden demands for information, he doesn't show it. "The Order of the Blue Flame?"

He thinks for a moment. "My dear, I can help you very little. I know of them and of their work, but beyond that, very little. My best advice would be for you to go to Oreme. It lies on your path to Thay and the City of White Towers is a ancient. Yes, Oreme would be as good a starting point as any I can suggest. Slavers travel that route as well. It may be you will hear word of your sister on the way if the transformation is so great as you describe."

"I can still heal your wounds one more time today if needed," Leo asks Mirth.

"How are the rest you faring?" the paladin asks.

Updated the character sheet picked the daily power even if not available yet have been wondering about swapping out either Leo's half elf ability to use another class's at will power (specifically a warlord at will power) or swapping out piercing smite for righteous smite if possible wasn't sure if either were possible at this time so listed them in order of preference pending a reply from the dm

Leo - you can swap one power or feat or skill per level as "retraining" so take your pick.

Rev DM wrote:

Given the situation its going to have to be swapping out Piercing Smite for Righteous Smite

Male Kobold Rogue 6

I am swapping out that miserable choice of a utility for "fleeting ghost". Sorry, Rev, I don't know why you picked that one.

Snaggletooth looks at his companions. They look beaten up and tired, but functional. He asks aloud, "We have to go now? Or can White Lady wait until tomorrow? I prefer time to recover. We pretty beat up. What you say?"

I am for resting and getting that new daily along with new surges. I have one left. My hps are good and I got my encounters, but it would be nice to not have to worry about need more than one heal next battle. We could secure the "prison" downstairs and hold it overnight. Unless we are on borrowed time?

Brujo sits on the ground, darkness fading from his sight "Leo, Cronin can I get one or both of you over here. These wounds are little worse than what I'm used too"

Could really go for a Lay on Hands and Healing Word, please

Snaggletooth wrote:

Not sure myself Snaggle - it probably seemed like a good idea at the time :D I had some vague idea that it would work better than it does for Snaggle.

Snaggletooth wrote:

You're not exactly on borrowed time, but you are in enemy territory and Thoran knows you're coming.

Cronin goes towards Brujo and prays quietly, watching the worst of the moonelf's wounds close over.

Surge +7 hp healed. Leo needs to use his Lay on Hands on Mirth as she is down to one surge.

That would be greatly appreciated - Mirth might even hold still for the proceedings!

Monastery

Spoiler:

Even as Allendi finishes speaking, a hoarse cry comes from the direction of the cellar.

"That's Brother Turnagall!"

Pausing only long enough to pick up a stout staff, Allendi heads to the door and flings it open. In the flickering torchlight below, Perigia can see the slumped form of the large red-haired man, and, much more ominously, two shadowed and cloaked beings trying to pick up the plain alabaster pillar in the middle of the room.

MAP

Init please Perigia. Note that if you prefer a different starting square, you can have it.

So far -
Creeper
Emissary
Allendi

Monastery

Spoiler:

The creeper looks up and spots Perigia and Allendi standing at the top of the stairs. Running towards the cover of the barrels, it flings a small, vicious dagger at the mage.

"Misssttake to disssturb ussss," it hisses, softly.

v Perigia (1d20 4=23, 1d4 4=7, 1d6=3). Used Dark Step to gain CA, negated by -5 for running (manually amended). 10hp damage to Perigia.

Note that the Creeper has concealment, so you are attacking at -2.

Leo uses his Heal skill to appraise whom is the more badly hurt: Roll 1d20+9:14+9 for Total of 23, I'd say that was enough to make an accurate judgement wouldn't you?

"Sorry Brujo, Mirth needs this more than you. Caine can you lend Brujo a hand?" Leo asks as he uses up his last laying of hands for the day placing them on Mirth's shoulders.

Where did you think leo was going to touch?!, Leo uses up one of his healing surges so that Mirth regains hp equal to her healing surge value+3 hp (I really like that about Paladins by the way!)

Leo will spend the rest of the short rest a mite red faced after this after all he is a novice and not that worldly-wise... yet.

Monastery

Spoiler:

Perigia's attack elicits a scream of pain from the creeper, as the acid works its way beneath the cloak and into its flesh.

The Dark Emissary scurries across the floor and hurls another dagger at the mage.
(apologies, I have no idea why I labelled it "S" on the first map.)

"Misstakess you will not make again ssssooon."
Dark Emissary v Perigia (1d20 13=21, 1d4 5=6, 1d6=4). Another 10hp damage to Perigia, which I believe bloodies her.

"Not so. Tymora will guard you," cries Allendi, laying a comforting hand on Perigia as he stands staunchly beside her, and allowing healing power to flow through him. "Behind me lady, I will protect you."

Yes, he's a paladin of sorts. He uses a healing surge to give you the use of a surge +3.

Another dagger flies across the room and strikes Allendi hard in the chest.

Male Kobold Rogue 6

Snaggletooth notices that no one was paying attention to him. "What we do? Up or back down?" He asks his companions.

M Goliath Cleric 14 / Storm Speaker / Druid

"Up," Cronin answers grimly.

Female Tiefling Wizard 6

Mirth keeps her eyes on Leo's face as he carefully administers his blessing, a small smile curving her lips. She rises abruptly as the divine warmth recedes, a sinuous movement that brings her face to chest with the half-elf, her tail curling around his calf. Placing her small hand, fingers splayed, upon his chest, she murmurs "That was... gently done. My thanks to thee for it."

32/36 HP, 1 surge remaining. Thanks, Leo!

Refreshed, the tiefling spends the next several moments checking and adjusting various straps and buckles in her kit, and checking the deployment of her several blades. Finally nodding her satisfaction, she looks at the stairwell ahead.

"I shall not retreat while an enemy flees before me." she says in response to Snaggletooth's query.

Male Kobold Rogue 6

"I sneak ahead? Scout around? Or we charge in like always?" Snaggletooth sounds more sure of himself now that a decision is made.

M Goliath Cleric 14 / Storm Speaker / Druid

Cronin looks at the kobold. "You've come a long way, small one," he says softly, seemingly lost in thought.

I've been away too long to offer anything more useful on the tactics than "up", so I'll leave that to others.

The next staircase up is a more ornate affair, wide enough to accommodate two people.

It's three squares high again. From the bottom step to the doorway at the top costs 3 movement points, but you can move in pairs, which may help you.

"I guess I'll take point," Leo nods as he heads for the stairs.

Once they decide what the marching order, Leo intends to go on the defence and move his full 5 squares move, don't have the phb handy so don't know if that's ok

Think that's fine Leo.

Marching order:-
Leo + ?
??

F Half-elf Ranger 4 (multiclass - Rogue)

Fairwind looks at Snaggletooth, "I reckon some sneakin' wouldn't be goin' amiss."

Female Tiefling Wizard 6

Mirth will be heading up the stairs near the tail end of this raggedy parade.

Caine considers the possibilities. "Say we try this. Snaggletooth takes a look around, Fairwind and Leo follow. Cronin and Brujo next and I'll bring up the rear with Mirth. Any objections?"

M Goliath Cleric 14 / Storm Speaker / Druid

Rev:

Spoiler:
How's Cronin on surges, AP, and daily powers? Thanks.

Cronin wrote:

Spoiler:

No dailys used.
Down 4 surges.
HP on full
AP intact.

Brujo can take up the rear

Marching order:-
Snaggletooth
Leo + Fairwind
Cronin + Caine
Brujo + Mirth

This look OK to everyone? If Snaggle wants to sneak ahead and see what's in store, that sounds just fine.
