| Oster Catus |
Oster turns, taking Mem's action as a signal, and charges the man from behind!
Scout's charge. Using a sap for non-lethal damage.
Scout's charge, flank with Mem, sneak attack vs ff: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 6 + 2 = 21
Non-lethal damage: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 4, 3) = 18
Enforcer feat to make a demoralise test as a free action
"Get down and stay down.", Oster harshly whispers into the man's ear before he raises the sap again.
Intimidate, demoralise enemy: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (14) + 16 = 30
Demoralise Enemy with Memorable trait, so shaken for 1 round plus 1.5 rounds for every 5 Oster beat the DC by. Plus...
Intimidate skill unlock, 5 ranks: If you exceed the DC to demoralize a target by at least 10, it is frightened for 1 round and shaken thereafter.* A Will save (DC = 10 + your number of ranks in Intimidate) negates the frightened condition, but the target is still shaken, even if it has the stalwart ability.
| Tatsuo Arashi |
Tatsuo sighs deeply as his carefully chosen words fall apart and the group resorts to violence. Well, at least they cowed him into surrender? Flatly he asks, "Did we have more we wished to ask him? Or should we just tie him up and continue?"
Calvon
|
Calvon kneels beside the man, pretending that he suddenly recognized him. "Aren't you Ganaeus Gnaru? From Nidal? Did Mistress Sorshen summon you here from that great a distance?" Without saying so explicitly, Calvon wants to give the impression that he too is a follower of Sorshen.
| Tatsuo Arashi |
Tatsuo waits to see if the man is truly so out of it that he'll somehow buy Calvon's ruse after they just attacked him.
| Oster Catus |
Oster ties up the man and then stands vigil just behind him.
Calvon
|
Calvon kneels in front of him and looks him in the eye. "I'm sorry Ganeaus but your mistress is an imposter. The real Runelord of Lust died thousands of years ago. You have been tricked." he says sypathetically. "Can you prove to me that the mistress you follow is the real Runelord?"

Gnaeus lets out a deep sigh and it is as if a light has come on in his eyes
Yes...you are correct, it is not real. I remember now. I had taken a job to work as a bodyguard for Kelvas, a wizard from Korvosa who wanted to explore the Lady's light and loot it. Things went bad as we got further in. I can't explain it but we met Sorshen. Kelvas ran and I could hear 'Sorshen' in my mind. She made me kill Kelvas and then kept me around as a guardian. Then the Gray Maidens arrived and since then she demoted me to guard this portcullis.
I thank you for freeing me from her influence. As a reward please accept this wand (wand of detect secret doors).

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
Calvon
|
That's actually not the response that I expected at all!!
I want to see what he can tell us about this imposter Sorshen, the Gray Maidens, or anything else he might know about what we might encounter or find.
| Daniel Penfold 357 |
I've caught glimpses of 'Sorshen's' true form, it's a frightening demonic woman with bat wings and horns.
The Gray Maidens were led by a woman named Oriana and they now serve the Lady of the Light.
I don't know much of the layout of this area, when we came down we dropped over the waterfall down to the lower level (see level 2 map)
L1: There's a small platform with rowboats here.
L2: The lake itself, be very careful when traversing it, its full of aquatic ghouls.
L3: Another stone platform, there was a door here but we didn't go through it, we decided to stick to the lake.
L5: At this point the lake narrows a bit, there are some strange undead bat like creatures in there.
L6: The lake widens out here. There's a strange enchanment effect in the water, it causes people to strip naked and dive into the water, one of my companions did that and he was eaten alive by moray eels.
L7: A grotto filled with lichen. I was here that we met 'Sorshen'.
| Memnosyne |
"Gods, that sounds awful." Memnosyne nods to Oster to release the man. "Thank you for your information. And sorry that we had to resort to violence."
"Do you know where the Gray Maidens went? Or have any idea of their plans?"
| Tatsuo Arashi |
Tatsuo nods. "A demon. Not surprising." And only marginally less terrifying than a runelord. Unless it was just a low-level demon? But then why was such an odd binding spell used? "Can you elaborate on the effect that makes people dive naked into the water? Did you need to touch the water to be affected, or did merely looking at it sufficient to entrap your companion?"
| Oster Catus |
Oster remains quiet, though he hopes that he won't have to knock sense into anyone else today.
| Daniel Penfold 357 |
Oriana took the Gray Maidens deeper into the complex, I'm not exactly sure where they went. Oriana has some mad plan to retake the city of Korvosa in honour of the dead queen Ileosa. I think they've also fallen under the effect of 'Sorshen'.
The water has some kind of mind affecting/enchanting effect on it. Its sparked just by being on the water, there is a kind of sound that emanates from the water.
Calvon
|
"Great, so it sounds like they're all a little crazy."
I think we should move on. Perhaps this guy could stay here and guard our back.
| Oster Catus |
Oster says:
"We need to get going. Watch each other for crazy talk and crazy action."
Calvon
|
"Ganaeus, do you know what is beyond these doors? We are detecting the prescence of some kind of construct on the other side?"
| Oster Catus |
Oster tenses, his rapier at the ready for any untoward surprises.
Calvon
|
"Thank you Ganeaus. You are a good man"
Calvon will stand back a bit ready to cast a spell when the doors are opened.
| Tatsuo Arashi |
Tatsuo waits for the group to finish checking the door and open it, preparing himself for a possible battle with more golems.
| Daniel Penfold 357 |
The door opens into a hallway. A row of marble pillars, each carved to resemble a beautiful woman, supports the ceiling of this long, curving hallway, although the pillar closest to the western door seems to be missing its head
Knowledge arcana to find out more. You can all have a surprise round action and then we will go to initiative

Arcana: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Init: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Going to wait to see what the Arcana check turns up before posting my surprise round action. Just in case these are more things that are immune to my spells.
| Oster Catus |
Oster had approached the door quietly, and keeping himself hidden.

How far away from us is the woman standing?
| Tatsuo Arashi |
Ok, Oster's flanking buddy it is then.
Surprise round
Tatsuo begins casting shield on himself while quickly muttering. "They're marble sentinels. Immune to magic and can fire paralyzing bolts."
AC currently 22
| Memnosyne |
"Perhaps there's a way to get past them, like the others, without fighting." She has no qualms about destroying constructs, mind you. But the part where they might destroy her and her comrades, she takes exception to.
Calvon
|
"Immune to magic? Wonderful! I'm sorry but there's very little I can do."
Calvon remains in K9, staying behind one of the pillars in that room.

Oster, your attack misses the creatures but only just.
The two closest sentinels fire bolts of energy at Oster and Xango.
