Memnosyne
Memnosyne casts her detect magic again on those mounds. she'll also look for constructs since they seem to be in vogue down here "Careful, Xzngo. I don't like the look of those barrows."
Oster Catus
Oster shrugs.
"If we don't need to take it down, sure. I doubt we'll be that lucky though!"
Facing the mounds, he keeps an eye out for traps.

Sorry about that, I was in a hurry. That was supposed to be ooc.
"My first thought is that these could be burial mounds? The shields might be placed as grave stones. If so, they must be thousands of years old. You'd think that Sorshen would either not care about her guards, or that there would be a special place to bury them."
You said that there is a door. Is there anything distinctive about the door that I can see from a distance?
"In response to Xango's question, perhaps there is something about the golem itself that is important. Is there something inside the construct? Or invisible on or under the island? Without actually defeating the creature and doing a thorough search, we may never know.
Tatsuo Arashi
Noticing the rune of lust, Tatsuo glances back at what is yet another statue of the runelord. Dryly he adds, "I am beginning to sense a theme here..."
Also responding to Xango, he adds his two cents. "There will doubtless be plenty of enemies blocking us from moving deeper into the Lady's Light. I would think it would then be best to skip the fights that seem unnecessary now; we can always come back to them afterwards. That way we will not tire ourselves for the confrontations we cannot avoid."
He then continues to observe the, most likely, burial mounds. "Perhaps we should have one person open the door while the rest stand ready should the dead decided they do not wish us to pass?"

Calvon does a double take upon realizing that the shields are relatively new.
"I keep making assumptions before fully checking things." he mutters but does not explain further. You can see that he is blushing a deep red.
What an idiot!! My first real field mission for the Society and I act like an ignorant school boy! I need to THINK before I speak.
Calvon studies the burial mounds for a moment, listening as the others talk. Why are these here? If the Gray Maidens killed them, they would surely have just left the bodies to rot. Who would have given Sorshen's warriors a proper burial? Could Sorshen really be alive in here, despite the body we saw earlier? This is all so confusing.
"Yes, I too think we should move on. I will stand in line with the door with a spell at the ready if someone would care to open it." Calvon seems ready to blast anything that poses a threat.
Oster Catus
"I'm on it.", says Oster as he quietly moves towards the door.

You do not find any traps. You open the door into another chamber.
The walls of this room are covered by detailed murals depicting wanton acts involving otherworldly beings of every description. The murals cover every vertical surface, but stop abruptly after turning down the hallway to the south, as though abandoned by the artist.
Oster Catus
Oster gazes around, but keeps his mind on the job.
He begins to quietly step ahead, checking floors, walls and ceiling as he goes.

Memnosyne is still pondering the barrows as they continue on. Opening the door, she is somewhat entranced by the murals. The subject matter may not be to her tastes, but the artistry is incredible. "Hmm, why would they simply stop there?" she asks pointing ahead. So many questions about this place. So much of it doesn't seem to make sense. She makes a few notes and sketches a few rough maps in a journal as they head forward.

Have I heard of this Amivadeus Yasrin?
Kn(history): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (18) + 13 = 31
Replying to Mem, Calvon says "Perhaps Earthfall ended the artists work much as it ended Thassilon. Considering the subject matter, its probably good that it wasn't finished." You can tell that he's somewhat disgusted.
Tatsuo Arashi
Tatsuo relaxes as no undead pop up to attack them. Entering the new room, he takes one brief glance at the murals, flushes slightly, and then very determinedly stares at the ground. He makes sure to wait for Oster to clear the path before walking up to the edge of the mural, right before it cuts off. "I am no artist, but do they not usually sketch out the entire thing before starting to paint? This seems an odd way to do things; very prone to error."
To see if there's anything of note around where the painting stops or that would have caused it to stop so suddenly.

"It does seem suspicious. Though I'm not seeing any traps yet. Hmm."
Oster moves closer to the unpainted section, rapier out.
Calvon
|
"Well, the artwork is definitely old. I can't recall much about the artist other than his name. He lived during the time of the Thassilonian Empre and obviously Sorshen was somewhat of a fan. Let me just see if there's anything magical associated with this art. If there is not, I suppose we should see what lies ahead."
Calvon casts detect magic.
Oster Catus
"One moment! I'll get it open."
Oster moves ahead, looks for traps, and if he sees none, pulls out lockpicks and begins to fiddle with the lock.

Can we see what's beyond the gate while Oster looks for traps and opens it?
Tatsuo Arashi
Tatsuo waits as Oster inspects and unlocks the door, folding his tattooed arms into the long sleeves of his robe-like top.
Daniel Penfold 357
Oster, you do not find any traps, you just manage to force the portcullis open.
The stone walls, floor, and ceiling of this hall are polished to an almost mirrorlike sheen. The arching ceiling is supported by twin rows of columns, all of which have been carved to resemble the same beautiful woman dressed in revealing clothes.
In the room is a deathly pale man with long bone-white hair woven into a long braid, dark eyes and well-fitting and revealing clothes.
Oster Catus
"I'm going to approach that guy.", whispers Oster before moving.

Oster says nothing, but nods back at Mem.
I'm going to stay here, just in case.
Oster readies himself to charge with his sap to knock out the man should he cause trouble.
Tatsuo Arashi
Seeing Oster in position to strike should anything go afoul and his silent nod at Memnosyne's suggestion, Tatsuo clear his throat loudly, moving to separate himself slightly from the rest of the group in the hopes of saving them from any repercussions from his actions. "Excuse me sir, but I am Tatsuo of the Arashi clan. To whom might I have the privilege of speaking? We had not expected to run into another down here."
Oster Catus
Oster tenses, ready to strike if the man makes any sudden movements.
Oster will charge if so
Tatsuo Arashi
Tatsuo blinks as the man completely ignores his question. Something wasn't quite right about him.... "You are referring to Mistress Sorshen?" Judging by his dress, he was possibly an acolyte of her or something? Or at least, he was willing to bet the man looked favorably on the runelord of lust. "We had hoped to see her gloriousness. Though being but lowly creatures, we would not wish to disturb her should she be busy. Is she available for an audience?"
Oster Catus
Oster gives a questioning look to the others and silently gestures a whacking motion with his sap towards the man.
Tatsuo Arashi
Tatsuo bows deeply to the main from the waist. "Thank you, kind sir. You do your mistress proud by your steadfast service to her. May her blessings be forever upon you." Trying not to show his continued unease, he walks forward and past the man, eyeing him warily out of the corner of his eye should he suddenly change his mind about letting them pass.
If Tatsuo makes it across, he will quickly mutter to Oster.
"That does not seem necessary right now."
Oster Catus
Oster shrugs, and walks a little aside from the others, hoping to maintain the element of surprise.

Calvon begins to slowly move into the room and past the man, taking a wide berth around him. He moves slow so that he can hear the man's answer to Mem's question and also keep an eye on him.
Memnosyne
Memnosyne has a certain level of empathy that allows her to connect with people. It's very useful in trying to converse with and understand others. But she isn't very good at lying. She looks helplessly to her friends.
"Well, no, although I can't speak for my companions. Maybe one of them... I mean, well, I... aw hells."
She reaches out to touch the man.

if that hits, he's staggered for 1 round, so can only take 1 action, move or standard
