Apparently Kithian finally tired to Foxglove's annoying banter.

The magic missiles collide into Foxglove and he grows more and more irate at the hounding words of the wizard lashing out with his weapons and body once more the noble flails against the part unable to land against Sayniek, Cam or Kithian as he attempts to fight the group off with his flagging energy, I won't be DENIED! MINE IS A BIRTHRIGHT OF POWER I WILL KILL YOU AAAGGAAAAAA!....

The rants of man known as Aldern Foxglove end with a shadow looking Kithian gurgling a fountain of black blood out around his neck as the nimble steps and strong skills do nothing to stop the real Kithian from plunging his blade through the ghast's chest. As the enchantment fades Aldern's eyes can be seen behind the patchwork mask as he stares a furious hate at the half orc and then wheels to take in the rest of the group, his mouth seemingly moving beneath the mask but no words being audible and more blood emerging from where the mask ends beneath the chin.

As Kithian withdraws his weapon Foxglove collapses and seems to deflate a bit as though his hate provided some sort of weight to his animation. Twitching for a moment more the final end of Foxglove becomes apparent when a scream surrounds you from everywhere but nowhere then fades (like the scream from upstairs) and the a wretchedly horrible stench fills the room carrying a wicked mixture of decay and foulness. Fort saves DC 16 or be sickened for 1d6 ⇒ 1 minutes.

No Rullis for a bit. I know things have been pretty busy, we lose him? What would you like to do next?

If evil bathed a little more often, it would be easier to stomach.

Cristiel struggles to move her body as her muscles start to listen to her once more before the wave of stench hits her nose. She waves a hand before her face to clear the air as she eyes the pile of decaying flesh that was once Aldern Foxglove, "He said many things before justice found his heart, including a name. Xanesha. Have any among you heard such before? He seemed to put much weight behind this 'Xanesha' choosing him for something." The elven woman takes a moment to collect herself before she flicks Manartyelo down to part Foxglove's head from his neck. She lifts the decapitated nobleman's head by the hair (if there is any to be found, otherwise by an ear), "And let us destroy this so that this necromancer will not once more return the man from his final judgement."

Fortitude: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

The cleric gasps as the wave of nausea hits him and he follows the mage outside where Camillo is alternating between trying to aid the suffering fellow and trying to avoid getting something worse than mud on his boots.

Sayniek:
You notice the crockery called out on the floor from before still seems to shift pieces ever so slowly now and again and it is only now that the fierce battle is done you realize that the mold that seems to cover much of the walls of the cavern begins just next to whatever broke on the floor and has a distinctly man like shape before seemingly rising towards the higher reaches of the walls and expanding from there...

Sayniek and Kithian are able to easily catch a number of things of interest. Foxglove has more than a handful of things on his person that look to be valuable. A small chest and a number of books and papers litter a desk near the back of the room as well.

Cristiel sees little that jumps out at her though the magus does notice that there is a pile of used clothing and equipment opposite the door in a close corner to the group.

Using the sword to put some distance between herself and the pile Cristiel feels little resistance until she hears a muffled "clank" as Manartyelo hits something metallic.

Sayniek moves over toward the broken pottery.
Anyone else notice that there is strange mold here? And that it seems to be in a vaguely humanoid shape?

She looks over at Vidar, and then at Cam:
Either of you have any clue what might have caused this? Or what this might be? The pottery seems to shift ever so slightly once in a while and the shape of this seems very . . . unnatural.

Sayniek takes the ill looking wizard over to the far side of the cavern where the strange mold and pottery are located.

Vidar:

Being a wizard is a funny thing. It can take years of staring at the pieces of an equation before everything aligns just right. Broken pottery and a man shaped shadow along with the various images throughout the house speak to lichdom but there is some element off. Perhaps the ritual went wrong and thus the broken crockery and the shadow? Perhaps those are magical remnants of a successful spell? Vidar needs more information. Perhaps the library upstairs or notes kept by Aldern?

Male Half Orc Barbarian 5/ Oracle 1/ RP 1, Perception +7, Darkvision, Fort +8/ Ref +1/ Will +3, Init +4, AC 18, HP :76

Kithian glances at the broken pottery and mold and shrugs. Looks like someone dropped a full chamber pot."

"Hmmm...
This appears to be the remnants of a ritual of some sort.
Do you recall the images of the stained glass windows?
I think someone attempted a ritual transformation to lichdom here.
And yet, something seems...off...
We need to search for information, there is most likely a tome or journal detailing what took place here."

Bard (Arcane Duelist) 3/UC Rogue 4 | AC 22/14/18 (uncanny dodge), hp 42/46; 10/10 Bardic; Effect: None

Still a little green, Camillo re-enters the room to help search. "Ah, nothing seems to be stirring out there. Have you found anything interesting? Like who or what a Xanesha is?"

Cristiel, let me know what you want to do with the pile.

Rullis opts to stand watch while the rest of the group picks through the room looking for clues and other objects of interest.

Foxglove himself is dekced in an outfit, though stained at the moment is surely worth at least 200 gold pieces or more. Beneath the outfit is a fine stetched leather armor that appears magical as does the "war razor" that Aldern was wielding. The mask of Aldern's face is certainly magical as well. A small cameo on locket can be founf on the noble as well and contains a fine portrait of a woman. Cam recognizes her as the woman the group found horrified and screaming upstairs.

A pair of keys are also on the noble and one of them unlocks the chest on the table. Within are a myriad of notes and letters and pair of books. Most of these appear to be personal correspondences between Foxglove and others of little import but others stand out as more recent and scrawled in a much more rigid hand. The writing is still the noble's but "different". The two books are collections. One a set of notes and observations by the escaped necromancer, the other in a tight rigid hand that appear to be in reference to the house and some of its odd construction. Vidar guesses it might be Foxglove's father or grandfather. (you would need to read through it to be sure)

Additionally the chest contain a handful of bills of credit worth almost 5000 gp honored at a handful of financial institutions throughout Varisia (Church of Abadar and a series of banks in Magnimar and Korvosa) as well as a pouch containing 200 platinum coins.

The desk itself also has some correspondence. All recent, most coded or written in gibberish of one kind or another. Some of it looks like doodles and notes of someone who is losing their mind though the group is quick to notice some symbols look familiar like those found under the town in the Thassalonian crypt as well as frequent mention of various members in the groups name. Kerrec's name appears most frequently and some of the notes indicate a certain intense interest in him. Kithian's name also appears with some rather direct language about blaming the barbarian for Kerrec leaving.

The most recent letter stands out on top of the stacks on the desk as one of interest its elaborate signature calling to Cam's question:

Aldern,

"You have served us quite well. The delivery you harvested far exceeds what I had hoped for. You may consider you debts to the Brothers paid in full. Yet I still have need of you, and when you awaken from your death, you should find your mind clear and able to understand this task more thank in the state you lie in as I write this.

You shall remember the workings of the Sihedron ritual, I trust. You seemed quite lucid at the time, but if you find after your rebirth that you have forgotten, return to your townhouse in Magnimar. My agents shall contact you there soon - no need for you to bother the Brothers further. I will provide the list of the proper victims for the Sihedron ritual in a few days time. Commit that list to memory and destroy it before you begin your work. The ones I have chosen must be marked before they die otherwise they do my master no good and the greed in their souls will go to waste.

If others get in your way you may do with them as you please. However the necromancer is still of use to me and I will not have you harm him despite your displeasure. Everyone and anyone else you may savage, eat or turn them - it matters not to me.

Xanesha, Mistress of the Seven"

Perception -A- DC 20:
The bottom of the chest is false. Within are two keys with cards affixed to them. One, a tarnished iron key set with an expensive rare opal (100 gp) in its head has a note that gives an address in Magnimar and the words "Foxglove" written in a flourish. The second, bronze with an unusually long tang and ending in a set of three notched blades, features a lion's head. Its note is written more tightly and hurriedly "Somewhere on the third floor but I can't find where".

Perception -B- DC 25:
Amidst the overgrowing mold you notice a glint near the door. a few ginger uses of a blade or wooden handle reveal a small chime which radiates magic.

Cristiel (If she fishes through the gnarly pile):
You find a battered helmet which looks relatively new. It bears the mark of Abadar but is otherwise unremarkable.

Vidar (and anyone else) can start pouring through notes with a Kno: Arcana and Kno: History check of decreasing difficulty every hour or so. More focused research will lower the checks but will only reveal specifics related to your search.

Vidar:
In the back of your mind the enchanted tome indicates that you could also give *it* the papers and it will remember them and "index" them for you...

I have a bad feeling about this...

Camillo looks at the helm, hoping it doesn't look familiar...

Vidar:
It only takes a few minutes for the eagle eyed wizard to find some passages of note between the necromancer's text and the text of the elder Foxglove. Indeed a ritual of transformation had been attempted below in these catacombs, interrupted by none other than that late Foxglove's wife. The necromancer had a theory that further investigation might reveal that the mold in the house (and some of the houses strange behavior) might be tied to this failure as the man shaped shadow of mold always regrows despite molestation by the likes of fire, acid and other such efforts. The necromancer notes that perhaps, in essence, the mold became the vessel of the dispelled Foxglove rather than the shattered crockery that was originally meant to bear only his soul. This might also explain the families other strange issues over the years since the death of the grandfather (ie. fatntastical phenomena and hauntings) and why Xanesha singled out Aldern though the journal ends soon after that as it is clear that the relationship between Foxglove and the necromancer soured and the journal was kept by the noble. More reading of the various papers would be required to fill in the blanks there...

Cam:
It does look familiar. But then again, its fairly "standard"

Edit: No magic on the helmet.

Male Human (Ulfen) Wizard (Enhancer) 5 HP 36/36 | AC 15 T 12 FF 10 | Ft +2 Rf +2 Wi +5 | Init +2 | Perc +6

Vidar nods to himself as he peruses the papers, his face turning sour (more so than usual) and he harrumphs loudly in disgust.

"That vaguely man-shaped growth of mold over yonder? That is the remains of an unfortunate elder Foxgolve's failed attempt at Lichdom.
Our Necromancer "friend" appears to have held the conviction that this is the reason for the house being haunted.
He was also of the mind that this is the reason that Xanesha was interested in Aldren in the first place."

"Oh, and this little detail is sure to amuse you all, the reason that the ritual failed, it was interrupted by Aldrens wife!
I wonder if the vengeful spirit of the elder Foxglove is the reason she is trapped here...?"

Sayneik looks very confused.
Was the woman Aldern's wife? Or the wife of Aldern's crazy father who tried to turn himself into a lich?

Probably not enough to know anything. I did a search on the thread for clues we might be overlooking, and there are many, but we haven't "out loud" shared most of them. I know, for example, that some of us has have visions of part of what transpired here. We might need to review what we know individually and throw it together and see what we come up with.

Or even better, our awesome DM could summarize for us what we should know by now...

Male Human (Ulfen) Wizard (Enhancer) 5 HP 36/36 | AC 15 T 12 FF 10 | Ft +2 Rf +2 Wi +5 | Init +2 | Perc +6

That's true, I just assumed it was Aldrens wife, but it could just as easily have been granddaddy's wife.
And while I guess the woman upstairs was Aldrens wife due to the portrait, she might not have anything to do with this at all.

Bard (Arcane Duelist) 3/UC Rogue 4 | AC 22/14/18 (uncanny dodge), hp 42/46; 10/10 Bardic; Effect: None

I think 'our' Foxglove was a bachelor and the wife in the story was mother or grandmother. I don't remember the generations involved at the moment. But the misunderstanding is natural and cool - it's just part of the roleplay. With my roll, I certainly don't have reason to expect to know better.

Yeah the lack of clarity in this moment is intentional in so much that some of you have different pieces. Vidar has most of the connective tissue to fill in events and his initial roll helped alot but you would need to sort through everything and share your info. That doesn't have to chew up thread time but will chew up in game time. So unless you are done in the house or are going to start a big elaborate research effort in the charnel pit that is this room you might have to struggle in and out of character with some plot point confusion. You have some rough sketches but some points are a little mixed up.

Kithian shrugs and kicks the dead Foxglove. "Lets get our arses out of here. I am thirsty and this sumb+$@# probably doesn't have anything here to drink. I say we gather any thing of value and burn this place down. I think that was my vote from the beginning.

I was in favour of burning the place as well, but now I believe it might unleash a greater threat, so I say we delay doing that part.

Sayniek's been here throughout the search of the house. She's been here long enough to receive some clues.

Okay so solidify the plan for me a bit. Is it back to town to rest, research and then move on or are you going to scour the house for more mad lootz?

I think we should scour the house some more to see if there was anything that we missed. We went through a number of rooms fairly quickly. There is the woman upstairs, perhaps we can free her. Don't know what else of value might be here, although this was the home of a well off family, so there is likely something. Might also be more notes about the Xanesha that has been referenced several times.

Sayniek will start to cast Detect Magic and carefully scan the rooms as the group moves back up.

If you guys are in agreement to go back through the house I need 5 perception checks each. If folks can't get them up by tomorrow afternoon I will roll for the outliers and get you through the house in an orderly fashion...

Thanks for joining, all!

The party:

Rullis Stillman, cleric
Camilo Duin, bard/rogue
Kerric Valerian, paladin
BoggBear's wizard
Kithian Darlok, barbarian

Go ahead and create your alias if you haven't yet, and put your character sheet in his profile.

If my workload permits, I'd like to start on Tuesday, but if everyone gets their character ready earlier, we could start early.

Male Human Cleric 4 [HP 21/23; AC18,T12,FF16; F+5,R+4,W+10; Per+4; Init +2]

Rullis Stillman, standing by.

I have the basic stats done, but still working out all the details. I will post here when he has been completed.

Male Half-Elf Paladin 3

I'm here as well. I'm sick as a dog though. I should have my character sheet up and running by either end of day today or some point tomorrow.

And as you can see I created my alias while on drugs thus getting the first and last name wrong.

Hey, no rush. Get better first. I mean, if you can't even get your name right, I don't want you calculating skill points in your state! :)

Male Half Orc Barbarian 5/ Oracle 1/ RP 1, Perception +7, Darkvision, Fort +8/ Ref +1/ Will +3, Init +4, AC 18, HP :76

I will work my character today and should have posted ready to go tomorrow.

What are the creation guild lines we are using, Stat buy, Starting Gold, HP, etc?

Kithian Darlok wrote:

20 point buy

Average starting gold
2 traits
Max hp at 1st level; roll for subsequent lvls, min 1/2 hit die (ie, if your class uses d6, and you roll a 1 or 2, you get 3 hp + your bonuses)

Let me know if there's something I've forgotten.

Male Human Court bard 1

Checking in, Will have a Finished Character up today!

Shoot. I hadn't looked closely at these. They look like a precursor to traits, but where traits should be worth about 1/2 a feat, these look like they're about 3/4 of a feat.

I'll say, since we're running a smaller group than I originally wanted, you can pick one of these regional feats from the guide in place of one of your traits.

Question, will our bard have acces to the Bardic Knowledge ability? If so then I'll probably focus on History and Arcana knowledge and become the Savant later on, and if not I'd go towards the Loremaster instead.
Also I was wondering, would it be possible to take a variation of the Pathfinder trait I've seen in both Legacy of fire and Council of Thieves palyers guide, the one that let's you start with a wayfinder?

Male Human Court bard 1

I will not Have bardic knowledge, I will have this instead:

Heraldic Expertise (Ex): A court bard gains a bonus equal to half his bard level on Diplomacy, Knowledge (history), Knowledge (local), and Knowledge (nobility) checks (minimum +1). Once per day, the court bard can also reroll a check against one of these skills, though he must take the result of the second roll even if it is worse. He can reroll one additional time per day at 5th level and every five levels thereafter. This ability replaces bardic knowledge.

Right, Loremaster it is then, all I need now is to file down a few details about the background and such, should have the character up today or Sunday (won't be home Saturday)

I'm thinking an Indiana Jones type scholar, so not exactly your typical wizard haha.

BoggBear wrote:

That's fine, as long as you also incur the debt for the Wayfinder that those traits impose.

Done! 500gp debt, and there should be a lodge in Varasia somewhere I think, maybe in Magnimar so I'll be able to pay it of soon enough.

As a Pathfinder I'm suposed to send in reports correct? Would Profession Scribe be a good idea for that?

Male Human Court bard 1

Ok All ready, let me know after you review if everyhting is ok, or if anything needs changing.

BoggBear wrote:

The Pathfinder NPC I found in the APG has points in that, so I think you have the right idea.

Looks good to me.

This should be it, lemme know if I've done any misstakes that needs correcting.

Male Half Orc Barbarian 5/ Oracle 1/ RP 1, Perception +7, Darkvision, Fort +8/ Ref +1/ Will +3, Init +4, AC 18, HP :76

Should be done except for buying misc gear.

Male Human Cleric 4 [HP 21/23; AC18,T12,FF16; F+5,R+4,W+10; Per+4; Init +2]

Rullis Stillman should be good to go. His character stats are updated on his alias profile.

I created him as he would be for his background and not maximized for combat. He has witnessed a lot of death in his family that has made him a little weary of getting too close to other people. Not that he won't help other people, just generally won't go too out of his way to do so. Instead, he devotes most his time his praying and to his religious studies and less on maintaining his late father's fishing business. He normally carries around his fishing knife (dagger) on him at all times and uses it for everything, including protecting himself. For sport, he likes to spear fish as it is more of a challenge. He normally doesn't carry his spear around with him, but if fearing threatened he would head back and get it to use as a weapon. Though with some of the new abilities he has gained through his devotion to Gozreh, he may not even need the spear.

Male Half Orc Barbarian 5/ Oracle 1/ RP 1, Perception +7, Darkvision, Fort +8/ Ref +1/ Will +3, Init +4, AC 18, HP :76

Done, and broke....8sp to my name.

Rurik:
Looks good.

Kithian:
Don't see anything wrong. The only things I'd ask is that you put in your ranged attack for the throwing axe and that you declare the spellcasting class that benefits from the magical knack trait.

Rullis:
Looks good. Is there a rp reason you'd have Harpy Musk?

Male Human Cleric 4 [HP 21/23; AC18,T12,FF16; F+5,R+4,W+10; Per+4; Init +2]

Noone:
It indicates in the player's guide that there are problems with Goblins in the area, especially raiding your trash. And there is a local product called Harpy Musk that can be used to cause Goblins to flee from the smell. So Rullis would keep some handy in case he found himself surrounded by a pack of these little creatures while walking alone at night.

Rullis Stillman wrote:

Rullis:
Ah, I see where you see that. That's a rumor referring to the base of the cliffs at Junker's edge (area 6) on the player's map, where the trashman dumps trash onto the beach below. The rumor is that goblins sometimes dig through the trash there, as is their nature. People rarely visit the trash heap at the bottom of the cliff, and the town is inaccessible from the beach below, so the rumor hasn't sparked much concern.

There are goblins in the hinterlands, though they're not much of a threat, even to travelers. Even so, the north side of town is protected by a wall with a couple guards posted. Generally, the only Sandpoint residents that have run-ins with goblins would be hunters who explore inland.

Noone:
You put Rufus instead of Rullis which may get confusing since there is a Rurik as well. I see my character as a live off the sea and land type person, as that's the way of Gozreh and how he was raised. His leather armor would have been crafted from the tanned skins of successful hunts. He would probably be more likely than the average resident of Sandpoint to head out into the Wilderness, but he hasn't done that in a while as he has found himself preoccupied with other things. The Harpy Musk was listed as an item available in the Player's Guide. Generally there is a reason those items are there. But if you don't believe that this would of been something Rullis would of had access to or a need for, then I can scratch it off my list. It's not a big deal. EDIT: I see you corrected the Rullis/Rufus issue. :)

Male Human (Ulfen) Wizard (Enhancer) 5 HP 36/36 | AC 15 T 12 FF 10 | Ft +2 Rf +2 Wi +5 | Init +2 | Perc +6

Decided to change the name, both for simplicity's sake, Rurik and Rullis sounds a lot alike, plus if you know Scandinavian mythology and naming practices it makes more sense. Also forgot to list the wayfinder in the inventory before.

Rullis:
I'll probably call you Rufus again. Don't know why that comes to mind more easily. I've never known a Rufus...

Anyway, I knew Rullis had a fishing background, but I didn't know he was a hunter, too. In that case, the precaution makes sense. The item is in there for a reason (you've figured out the big surprise - the level 1 monsters aren't kobolds :), but I just wanted to make the point that Sandpointans (Sandpointites?) didn't walk the streets in fear of goblins.

Another thing I meant to point out was the alternate favored class bonus you chose - it looks like the spell resistance is against outsiders only. If you want to select another favored class bonus or clarify it on your char sheet, you'll be set.

Rullis:
I might call you Rufus again. No offense intended. I don't know why that name comes to mind more easily. I've never known a Rufus.

Anyway, I knew Rullis had a fishing background, but I didn't know he was a hunter, too. In that case, the precaution makes sense. There is a reason the Harpy's Musk is in there (I guess the surprise is ruined: kobolds aren't the level 1 monsters in this one), but I just wanted to make the point that Sandpointans (Sandpointites?) don't walk the streets in fear of goblins.

One thing I forgot to point out on your character sheet: the alternate favored class bonus you chose appears to give the caster level check bonus against outsiders only. If you want to select another or clarify that on your character sheet, I think you'll be good to go.

Male Human Cleric 4 [HP 21/23; AC18,T12,FF16; F+5,R+4,W+10; Per+4; Init +2]

Noone:
His profession is a fisherman (and has 1 rank in Profession(fisherman)) and does spear fishing for sport. But like any rugged man in touch with nature, he'd also hunt. Generally not large game, but more around rabbits and crabs. But hunting would not be his specialty as he is more comfortable on the sea or near the water. Nor would be his interest in life. He is not a bright man as he hasn't gone anywhere in his life, but wise in the ways of nature and the land. Gozreh teaches that the land and sea will provide for your every need. It will provide for you, but don't take more than you need so that it will continue to provide for you in the future. He eats and/or utilizes whatever he kills.

The favored class bonus was from the APG. I don't have my APG with me to look at it and the website I know of that has that information I can't get to right now (blocked). I don't remember the outsider part, but I'll look again. I remember it being a +1 bonus to caster level checks to overcome Spell Resistance. I'll have to look at what percentage of outsiders verses non-outsiders have Spell Resistance in order to make my decision. If I don't keep this, then I'll just take another skill rank instead and put it in Knowledge(Geography). I'll update my sheet either way.

Rullis is specializing in storm and lightning type effects. He has been caught in his share of storms at sea and understands and respects their power. It would of been during one of these storms that he lost his father to the sea serpent attack. The creature was probably worked up by the storm when it attacked. So his concentration for his faith would center around these aspects.

Which reminds me, I was going to pick up a Thunderstone as well. I was trying to find out if these were reusable. At 30 GP each, I would hope so. But I've never really seen them used much.

Sandpointers?

EDIT:

Noone:
Just did a quick search of all creatures in Bestiary with SR and did a sampling of creatures to see which were outsiders. It was about 50/50. There were a lot of demons, devils, and other extraplaners that were all outsiders. But the drows, feys, and aberrations and such were all non-outsiders. But I think I'll keep it as is. I'll update my sheet to indicate outsiders and check my APG when I get home tonight.

I am feeling better and character is just about done except for random equipment which will be stuff that one would have normally on the road. His purse will still be pretty heavy after that. Noone let me know if the character sheet is good to go. I normally DM so my character creation skills are a little rusty. Built Kerrec as the negotiator type that protects himself against magical influence of the mind.

Glad you're feeling better. I may not get a chance to check him out until tonight or tomorrow morning, but I doubt any changes (if any are necessary) will affect the first little bit of the adventure, so I think we'll be able to get underway tomorrow as planned.

I went ahead and added the +1 to Attack and Damage from the Point Blank Shot feat for the Lightning Arc and Storm Burst attacks. These attacks have a maximum range of 30 feet and Point Blank Shot gives the bonus for 30 feet or closer. That way I don't have to remember to add it on each attack. Just mentioning the change since you already looked the character sheet over.

@Kerric, It looks okay to me.

@Everyone, we can do a little setup of where you're coming from, and decide if any of you want to know each other before the adventure starts. It's not at all necessary, but you might have arrived in the same caravan or on the same ship. For ease, I'm going to say that everyone arrives on the morning of the Swallowtail festival. You'll have a chance to rent a room and drop off your traveling gear before you head to the square for the festival.

If you ask your fellow travelers, they'd tell you there are two inns in Sandpoint. The White Deer Inn (#3 on the map in the Player's Guide) is recently rebuilt, is closer to the square where the Swallowtail festival will take place, and is the cleaner and more spacious of the two inns, though they're priced the same (5 sp/night).

The Rusty Dragon Inn is closer to the south entrance and the docks (ie, probably closer to where you arrive). It's run by Ameiko Kaijitsu, whom the travelers all seem to like. She sings in the tavern on most nights, which is much livelier than The White Deer, and the food is the best in town, according to most of the travelers.

I think if you're coming from Magnimar, you'd probably come by road with a caravan or by boat (though it would have been more expensive). By road, you'd enter town over the south bridge, onto Market Street, so you'd pass right by the Rusty Dragon Inn (#37 on the map in the Player's Guide).

If you're coming from Riddleport, you'd almost definitely come by boat.

I think Vidar and Camilo would be coming from Riddleport, Kithian and Kerric from Magnimar, and Rullis is local. You can decide if you would have met your fellow travelers on the way, or there will be time to make acquaintance during the festival or afterwards.

So for starters, post any corrections to where your character is coming from, how he's arriving (road or boat, if coming from Magnimar), and whether he's dropping his gear off at one of the inns (which one?), or going straight to the festival and getting a room later. Rullis, I imagine, has a place in town.

Male Human Cleric 4 [HP 21/23; AC18,T12,FF16; F+5,R+4,W+10; Per+4; Init +2]

Rullis just has a run down shack near the docks where his father's fishing boat resides, probably near 21 or down by 44. He hasn't been spending the time necessary to keep it up over the past couple of years, so it is starting to fall into disrepair. He would head over to the festival to see what is going on, leaving his backpack of gear and his fishing spear back at home.

I'm assuming I would meet various travelers at the square where the festival is taking place.

Male Half-Elf Paladin 3

Kerrec will be coming by road, I'm assuming alone. He'll rent a room and drop off gear at The Rusty Dragon Inn before heading to the festival. He'll be looking forward to the festival after long days on the road.

Male Human (Ulfen) Wizard (Enhancer) 5 HP 36/36 | AC 15 T 12 FF 10 | Ft +2 Rf +2 Wi +5 | Init +2 | Perc +6

Vidar arrives by boat from Riddleport, after inquiring about lodgings at the port he will head up to the White deer inn since it is closer to the town gates and thus a shorter walk if he decides to go hunting or exploring before the festival.
So he will probably not return to town until maybe one hour or so before the festival starts, and before that he will head to his room and leave most of his traveling gear.

Male Half Orc Barbarian 5/ Oracle 1/ RP 1, Perception +7, Darkvision, Fort +8/ Ref +1/ Will +3, Init +4, AC 18, HP :76

Kithian will be arriving via boot leather express.

Being almost broke he is more than likely going to plan on sleeping outside of town in the woods, and being a barabarian, using his last silver to get plowed.

He will have all his gear on him in any case.

Male Human Court bard 1

While Camilo is Excited to see Ameiko again, hes a little Nervious. After he leave the boat from Riddle port, he'll head to the festival first, Hoping to Find a bit of drink to calm his Nerves before Heading to the Rusty Dragon and Meeting with Ameiko.

Male Human Cleric 4 [HP 21/23; AC18,T12,FF16; F+5,R+4,W+10; Per+4; Init +2]

Do we know what time of year it is? What event does the Swallowtail Festival celebrate?

Game is underway here.

Some background info for those with ties to the area:

Rullis:
Sandpoint is a small town, so what they've had instead of multiple churches, has been a single cathedral (made up of six buildings, one for each honored deity), and instead of multiple clerics, a single cleric who serves followers of each faith. When Rullis lost his father, this would have been Ezakien Tobyn, a cleric of Desna, but wholly capable of helping Rullis resolve his crisis of faith in Gozreh. Both Tobyn and the current cleric have served Sandpoint's six popular religions without agenda, and with a nuanced understanding of the tenets of each faith.

Camilo:
Things Camilo would know about Ameiko:

The Kaijitsu family is descended from Minkai (the Golarion equivalent of Japan), by way of Magnimar. The family was one of the co-founders of Sandpoint. Her parents are Lonjiku and Atsuii, and, at 27, she's the oldest of 5 kids. Her siblings are Eri (f-26), Mako (m-24), Sumi (f-23), and Tsuto (m-21) (none of them were particularly fond of Camilo). Though Lonjiku and Atsuii are both human, the youngest child, Tsuto, is half-elf. Atsuii never revealed the father, and none of the popular speculation about town holds any particular credibility. Tsuto was sent to the Turandarok Academy in town (#27 on the map), and Ameiko was the only one who visited him regularly, so they were fairly close. Camilo only heard from fellow travellers who were coming home to Sandpoint that she was the proprietor of the Rusty Dragon.

You'll have to excuse the maps for a while. I had thought there were community created maps already, but it doesn't look like they've been maintained. I need to learn Maptools, but it's not as intuitive as I'd hoped, and I'm not sure when I'll get a chance. Hopefully next week. On the spreadsheet map, I'll label your characters' positions with their initials.

Male Human Cleric 4 [HP 21/23; AC18,T12,FF16; F+5,R+4,W+10; Per+4; Init +2]

If you have the PDFs, you can extract the maps out of the PDF without all the GM numbers (and the S for secret doors). There are free tools online to do that. For my games, I take all the player icons and load them as layers on top of the map in a photoshop type editor (I use GIMP, a free tool) in addition to a fog of war layer. Then as the players move, I just move their layers and re-save. Then I either save a jpeg version of the layered map or I take a screen shot of just the part of the map I care about zoomed in and place it online.

I find it works really well and creates great maps, but your spreadsheet map gets the job done just fine. GIMP has a bit of a learning curve if you are not used to doing photo editing.

Male Human Cleric 4 [HP 21/23; AC18,T12,FF16; F+5,R+4,W+10; Per+4; Init +2]

I think I am going to change Rullis' alignment from N to NG since that is how I am playing him. I'll still be within one step of my deity's alignment who is N.

Sorry y'all. I'm going to be busier than anticipated today. Will post surprise round tomorrow.

Which performance skills does Camilo have? As I understand it, each skill has to have its own ranks, so if he can do comedy, sing, and play a string instrument, that would be 3 points. To perform a song like the one in the Rusty Dragon, Camilo probably only needs either singing or string instrument. Whichever one he has ranks in, is the one that would impress the crowd. Imagine Jimi Hendrix - no ranks in singing, but high ranks in guitar. Or Steve Martin - no ranks in singing, but high ranks in comedy and banjo, so he can do either a funny song or a song with high technique in banjo to impress a crowd. Or alternatively, you could have high ranks in singing, and only strum a chord or two on the lute to accompany the impressive vocals.

Remember that the versatile performance feature at 2nd level will let you sub a performance skill for some other skills, so you can cut your ranks in a couple skills to put them into a perform skill (eg, take from bluff and sense motive to add to singing and another performance skill, then choose versatile performance: singing at 2nd level).

@Everyone: let us know if you're unavailable during these holidays. I'll be afk from Thurs afternoon to Monday this week.
