Male Half-elf Barbarian

Round 4:

Round 11 of Rage

Rhost is at 66 HP

Enough of the fancy stuff. Rhost moves forward to attack the hand directly (if Hrunndalf remains downed). Some Flaming Earth Breaker applied topically ought to be good for what ails us.

To Hit: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27

Damage: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (3, 1) + 7 = 11 plus 1d6 ⇒ 6 fire

Female Elven Urban Druid 9, Brightness Seeker 1

Alaric:

Lio nods "Ayme ah faire 'and aht s'vral karde gaimes."

Seeing your face light up at the mention of Mel's feelings, makes her smile.

Female Elven Urban Druid 9, Brightness Seeker 1

Lio combat:

if more rounds happen while i'm at work, please continue to use Flaming Sphere on my behalf. Lio can still take a standard action in addition to a move action, if I believe correctly, so if I can 5 foot free to allow those behind me into the room while still maintaining a shot, I will do so each round. Also, if she can drop the sword and take out the bow and shoot at Goti Runecaster while the flaming sphere is continually attacking him over the course of the next few rounds she will do so... i will make some rolls now, that way you can get through several rounds of combat, if everyone's posting rate is its usual high rate...

Lio hp 30 - 11 - 6 = 13
Lio con 10 - 2 = 8

Lio directs the flaming sphere continually at Gotti, while dropping her sword and getting out her bow. She moves out of the way of anyone behind her trying to get into the small space.

Concentration (if needed?): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
Goti's Reflex save: 1d20 ⇒ 12 is he grappled?
Damage (fire) 3d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 4) = 9

other actions if possible, or future round actions

Drop sword, pull bow,
To Hit: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22 (20x3) added in + 1 for w/in 30 feet bonus, hope i'm not reading map wrong.
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Ranged Modifier: Point Blank Shot +1 hit/damage w/i 30']
Ranged Modifier: Precise Shot no penalty for shooting into melee

"There. Always close to me, now."

One of Lio's hands moves from around your waist, to touch the side of your face, caressing the soft skin there. "Shae, annwyl." The words barely a breath, so quiet, they are for you alone, "my love." She smiles, barely able to contain her joy. "You are so beautiful." She whispers.

"She is, isn't she? I doubt you've seen her smile, but she has great teeth." Mel's voice is low. "And I have no doubt that you are treating your guests oh so well." A pause, "Aren't you supposed to have a bird?"

Mel:

Lio:
"You know Cripple Mr. Onion?" Alaric asks hopefully.

COMBAT ROUND FOUR

”I take it you found the collection, then?” Goti replies.

”This won’t do at all,” he adds, frowning at the entangling mass of hair. He suddenly grows to large size, although he has to squeeze a bit to do so at the moment. He drops his crossbow and draws a pick. A small portion of the damage he has taken seems to heal.

Lio directs the flaming sphere continually at Goti, while dropping her sword and getting out her bow. She moves out of the way of anyone behind her trying to get into the small space. Now both caught in Melinda’s hair and larger and clumsier, he is unable to avoid the flames, which burn his giant feet.

Hrunndalf stabilizes. He is still at -6 hit points, but no longer losing hit points each round.

Hrunndalf:
Your roll was actually a 10, not a 16, because you take a -6 penalty for being at -6 hit points, but that is still high enough to succeed.

Enough of the fancy stuff. Rhost moves forward to attack the hand directly, standing over Hrunndalf’s body. Some Flaming Earth Breaker applied topically ought to be good for what ails us, he thinks. And a mighty bash hits the hand with a crunch and a sizzle. He manages to avoid bursting open any of the pus sacs.

Myri moves into Rhosts former position at the bottom of the stairs, finally getting the chance to do something constructive. She lets out a satisfied sigh as her eyes follows her arrows path to target. It thuds into the Giant Hand. Pus sprays, but hits no one. The Hand collapses and moves no more.

Kalimac gives Myri a grim smile before she moves forward. He appreciates her banter, but Goti's remarks about their friends has made him misplace his humor. "Right now I wish we listened to Hrunndalf's request for Fly spells. I'm pretty sure I could squeeze through over everyone's heads." Kalimac and Attatoq continue to seek a way forward, but are able to move only a fraction closer.

Mel's hair twists tighter around Goti, but it is more difficult to contain him at his larger, stronger size, and he shakes it off, no longer grappled.

Alaric channels to clear out the remaining undead blocking the way. It shudders, but does not fall.

That zombie the shifts position a little and punches Rhost in the stomach.

Rhost takes 8 hit points damage.

GM Notes:

Zombie Six -5
Goti -14

Hrunndalf -48, and -6 from Con damage
Rhost -19
Melinda -16
Lio -11, and -6 from Con damage

Male Human (Ulfen) Oracle of Battle 10

Hrunndalf looks almost peaceful in his enforced rest.

Round 5:

If awakened:

Hrunndalf grips the greatspear lying next to him and rises to his feet in a defensive stance.

That's Total Defense, and then standing up. I'm assuming I can pick up Þrumublað as part of that move action, but I'm not quite sure whether it works that way. If Goti is grappled by Mel, or otherwise can't make an AoO, Hrunndalf will drop Total Defense in favor of an attack at Goti. Since Goti towers over my friends now, I shouldn't get any cover penalties from them ("low obstacles").

In what might be a small surprising move, Lio stretches up as you lean into her touch, her warm breath a moment's warning before her lips find yours.

After a long moment, "That's what we get for consorting with a talented Bard, I suppose." Lio smiles at you, one hand still around your waist, the other having caressed down your cheek, neck and along your side, to rest on your hip. "The earrings, they are very pretty on you." Male Human Cleric 10

Lio:
Alaric nods, smiling at the prospect of being able to play cards. He waits to see if there's anything Lio has to say.

Female Elven Urban Druid 9, Brightness Seeker 1

Alaric:
Lio, really not being terribly good at small talk, has probably said as much as she's going to for the immediate future, unless Alaric has anything he wishes to bring up.

COMBAT ROUND FIVE

Runecaster shifts a bit so he is no longer squeezing. ”That’s better,” he says as he swings his pick into Rhost. ”You know, I don’t like doing things this way. It’s crude. I much prefer spells. But you rather forced my ‘and, there.” Once again, Goti heals a small amount of damage.

Rhost takes 13 hit points damage.

Liothonae moves the Flaming Sphere so that it follows Runecaster. Once again, he is unable to dodge it at his large size, and more burns erupt on his legs. Then she fires an arrow at him, which manages to hit despite the cover he is now getting from the wall. Grayish blood drips from the wound.

Rhost swings his Earth Breaker into the zombie, breaking it in two. Both halves fall to the ground. Then he takes a step forward and swings at Runecaster. His second attack misses, but a path is finally cleared for the battle line to move forward ...

Myri fires three arrows at Goti. Only one of them manages to hit, but it is a solid shot to his hip. More blood oozes forth.

Kalimac quietly tightens and relaxes his grip on his lance over and over again while practicing deep breathing exercises to keep calm as he is prevented from entering the battle ahead. Attatoq paws at the stairs. Rider and mount continue to seek a way forward. Then, as Rhost destroys the final zombie, the way is clear. Wolf and rider rocket forward. Goti takes a swing at the Halfling as he passes, which connects.

Kalimac takes 16 hit points damage.

However, thanks to Attatoq’s prodigious speed, Kalimac is still able to jab back with his lance. The blow misses, but he is now at last in an attack position.

Kalimac:
I know you didn’t say you would take an AoO to move forward, but given how long Kalimac had been champing at the bit, I figured it was a reasonable interpretation, especially with GM metaknowledge that healing was coming up soon ... let me know if I took it too far there, and apologies if I did. This is also your heads-up that the situation has changed. Since tags, etc. may be difficult for you right now, if you just want to give me word descriptors (e.g. attack twice with lance), I’d be happy to do all the dice rolls here. If even spoiler tags are too hard, just post unspoilered; whatever is easiest for you.

Mel attempts to re-wrap Runecaster in her hair, but the now-enormous foe continues to shake it off.

Alaric channels, but in a stunning reversal, does so to heal.

All of you heal 14 hit points. Hrunndalf is now conscious, but prone.

Hrunndalf grips the greatspear lying next to him and rises to his feet.

Hrunndalf:
Picking up the greatspear and rising are two move actions, but as Goti is no longer capable of making an AoO, I tried to follow your instructions as best I could and had you do both rather than go on full defensive.

GM Notes:

Goti -46, +27 from size

Hrunndalf -34, and -6 from Con damage
Rhost -18
Melinda -2
Lio -6 from Con damage
Kalimac -2

Hrunndalf:
Partial cover, actually, as more than half of him would be visible to you.

Makes sense. I remembered there being a beneficial rule about Low Obstacles, but I think I was the enlarged combattant last time when that applied.

Damage: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (1, 5) + 7 = 13 plus 1d6 ⇒ 5 fire

Male Halfling Cavalier 10

Round 6:
Given the current field of battle and seeing that a successful charge is unlikely, Kalimac discards his lance for now. He draws his sword from the Scabbard of Vigor, temporarily enchanting his sword. I'm going to go for +3 for 3 rounds. "Runecaster, for your crimes against us, you surely shall die," intones the halfling, thereby Challenging Goti Runecaster. "Allies receive a +2 circumstance bonus on melee attack rolls against Goti Runecaster whenever Kalimac is threatening Goti Runecaster." Attatoq bites at the foe.

Kalimac Sword Attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22 includes +3 from Scabbard
Kalimac Damage: 1d6 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11 includes +3 from Scabbard

Attatoq Bite Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18 includes +2 from Challenge
Attatoq Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

COMBAT ROUND SIX

Goti heals a tiny amount again. But realizing that individual blows with a pick, devastating as they may be, are not going to last him long now that he is faced with many foes rather than few, Runecaster attempts to defend himself while he casts some kind of area-effect spell, promptly rolls a natural one on his concentration check, and utterly fails to manage it.

”Oh, crumbs,” he says, looking at the line of angered foes before him.

Lio directs the sphere to continue to burn Goti while she also fires an arrow at him. Once again he fails to avoid the fire, and once again the arrow strikes home.

Rhost swings his Earth Breaker back and forth, with Runecaster in the middle, hitting him in the ankle once with a blow that, even though glancing, still causes a crack of fracturing bone and leaves another burn.

Myri continues to let her arrows fly, one of them thudding into Runecaster's arm with a spray of silvery arterial blood.

Myriana:
Remember that one of your shots will be a 5 less to hit than the others on an iterative attack, though. :)

Given the current field of battle and seeing that a successful charge is unlikely, Kalimac discards his lance for now. He draws his sword from the Scabbard of Vigor, temporarily enchanting his sword. "Runecaster, for your crimes against us, you surely shall die," intones the halfling, thereby Challenging Goti Runecaster.

And he does. With a stab from Kalimac and a vicious bite from Attatoq, Runecaster drops to the ground and perishes.

Shortly thereafter, his body shrinks back to its original size.

Kalimac:
By the way, I didn’t realize this either, but apparently “allies” in your challenge power includes yourself, so you should be getting the +2 to hit bonus as well. It’s in a FAQ, and is an official ruling, so ... neat.

Combat rounds are over.

Currently, I believe Hrunndalf is down 34 hit points (and an additional 6 from Constitution damage), Rhost is down 18 hit points, Melinda and Kalimac are both down 2 hit points, and Lio has no hit point damage but is at 6 less than usual due to Constitution damage.

On and around Goti Runecaster's body, you find:

A fugitive's grenade
A scroll of animate dead
A wand of command undead with 11 charges
A masterwork pick
A masterwork heavy crossbow
19 bolts

"And raspberries," she says without raising the volume of her voice, her face close to your own. "Because I think you need to try them ... in cream."

Rhost is down 21 HP, as he was down three from the previous combat

Rhost drops out of Rage, and shakes his head. "Coulda gone better," he pants.

A small nearly inaudible gasp escapes from between Lio's lips. Her heart is pounding. How do you manage to be so seductive while merely holding her hands; with words alone? She licks her lips, taking a breath, unable to think straight. "I, ...ah, I..." She swallows.

"Os gwelwch yn dda cynnal o hyd. Byddaf yn gwella i chi." She says to Rhost.

Lio pulls out the wand of cure light wounds. She will heal anyone who requires it, in conjunction with anyone else who is using a wand for healing, or if Alaric is channeling.

Elven:
"Please hold still. I will heal you."

a wand of cure light does 1d8 + 1?

total current charges: 49 / If you require healing, and are getting assistance from Lio, please roll the 1d8 + 1 for yourself and let me know how many charges it took for you to be healed so i can subtract them from the wand. - unless of course Kyrademon says otherwise - (doing it this way because i will be at work, and it seems the quickest way to get everyone up to speed without waiting for me to roll) :)

Liothonae:
The smile she flashes you is ever so slightly wicked.

Male Human (Ulfen) Oracle of Battle 10

"Good", says Hrunndalf, "fighting," between deep breaths, "everyone."

He approaches Lio. "May I have that for a moment?"

1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

6 charges

"So what did Goti say before he died?" he asks. Little does he know.

We should conserve the channeling for in-combat healing. It's been a life-saver several times already. The wands are expendable.
