Female Quarter-Orc Sorcerer

Mel Round 2:
Mel leans forward, and targets the crawling hand (or some other enemy) with a scorching ray.
to hit (touch AC) 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9 (+3 BAB, +2 dex)
damage (fire) 4d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 6, 3) = 13

Male Halfling Cavalier 10

Round 2:

Kalimac continues trying to move forward so he can engage in the battle. Attatoq growls in frustration.

Male Half-elf Barbarian

Round 2:

Sorry about not rolling Initiative. It completely slipped my mind.

Rhost is at 65 HP

"Leek," Rhost says, goes into Rage.

Round 9 of Rage

Rhost will attempt to get to the front of the line and make some room. You-know-who informs me that this is a Bull Rush attempt, and without feats, it provokes an AoO -- and will require three CMB rolls, since there are two zombies behind the hand.

So here are some rolls:

Hand's Potential Attack of Opportunity: 1d20 ⇒ 13

Bull Rush against the hand: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13

against the first zombie in the direct line: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

against the second zombie in the direct line: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Male Human (Ulfen) Oracle of Battle 10

Round 2:
Hrunndalf cannot swing the morningstar to full effect under the revolting embrace of the undead fingers, so he focuses on freeing himself.

Grapple check to escape, no mods: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23

Male Human (Ulfen) Oracle of Battle 10

DM:
Oh, OK, that makes sense. I wasn't sure about the line of effect, since it's certainly the case for Fireball but not for Silence (as far as I remember), and I figured channeling would be somewhere in between in terms of "tangibility".

COMBAT ROUND TWO

The being that suddenly pops out of invisibility on the other side of the undead is ... strange. While clearly a humanoid, it is not one that is immediately familiar. He is long-limbed and hairy, with a tusked mouth that is crowded with sharp, scraggly teeth.

DC 27 Knowledge Local to Identify His Species:
He is a half-spriggan/half-troll.

”Those zombies were a gift from me mum,” he says. ”You leave them alone!”

He fires a crossbow bolt into Liothonae.

Liothonae takes 11 hit points of damage

Liothonae's Fort Save vs. Poison, DC 20: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18

Constitution Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 2

Liothonae loses 6 more from her current and maximum hit points.

Lio in unable to get within sword range of an undead or the giant hand, but as she clenches her sword she seems to get ... stronger.

Liothonae:
It is a standard action to change form, but now that it is on you can pretty much leave it that way until you change again.

You do not have any special knowledge regarding these undead creatures.

Hrunndalf cannot swing the morningstar to full effect under the revolting embrace of the undead fingers, so he focuses on freeing himself. With a flex of his muscles, he bursts free of the Hand’s grasp.

Hrunndalf is no longer grappled.

A zombie takes another swing at Hrunndalf, but this time fails to connect.

"Leek," Rhost says, goes into Rage. Rhost attempts to Bullrush back the line of undead, but instead, the Giant Hand slaps him back.

Rhost takes 11 hit points damage.

Myri still cannot move forward to take a shot.

Kalimac continues trying to move forward so he can engage in the battle. Attatoq growls in frustration.

The Giant Hand whacks Hrunndalf with its fingers once again.

Hrunndalf takes 10 hit points damage.

And once again it wraps the Ulfen in a grapple.

Hrunndalf is now grappled.

Mel leans forward, and targets ... some enemy with a scorching ray. It is difficult to tell who she was aiming for, since the shot goes into a wall.

Alaric looks up, sees that he's not going anywhere, and clasps the link again. The Giant Hand takes more damage. Five of the six zombies, however, simply disintegrate.

The final zombie charges in and takes a swing at the grappled Hrunndalf, but the blow comes nowhere near him.

GM Notes:

Giant Hand -16
Zombie Six
Goti

Hrunndalf -26, and -6 from Con damage
Rhost -11
Lio -11, and -6 from Con damage

Infernal:
Get your hand off me!

Round 3:
Realizing that wrestling with a giant hand is an uphill battle, Hrunndalf decides to cheat, and breaks a few fingers instead of struggling free again.

+1 Cold Iron Morningstar, one-handed, Power Attack, -2 grappled:
To hit: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21 (crit 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19)
Damage: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12 (crit 2d8 + 18 ⇒ (8, 6) + 18 = 32) bludgeoning

If, by any chance, the hand should die, I move into the room. If I can pick up Þrumublað as a move action, I will do so, and use a 5' step to clear the corridor entrance.

Female Quarter-Orc Sorcerer

Mel Round 3:
Annoyed Mel resheathes the wand, uses her now free hand to loosen her hair. "مدخل" she whispers, and her hair grows, twisting around the corner and down the hallway where it snares the tusked humanoid.

Celestial: Rapunzel

Actions: sheathe wand (move), Cast strangling hair 40-feet should just catch the new guy.

grapple check 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24 (+6 caster level, +3 Charisma)
if successful damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6 (I don't know if I get to add my strength which would be +1, I don't think my orc bloodline applies to this but if so that is also +1)

Round 3:
Alaric, wanting to conserve his waning energy, reloads his crossbow and waits for a way in.

Round 3:

Round 10 of Rage

Rhost is at 66 HP

More chatting with Melinda's player, who has told me how to attempt to get past Zombie and Hand to get to Strange Humanoid.

"to move through the bad guys takes double movement and you must succeed at a acrobatics check DC = 5+their CMB"

Rhost attempts to move past the Giant Hand and reach the Strange Humanoid.

Rhost has enough movement to reach Strange Humanoid if he (a) succeeds on his roll, and (b) only needs one square of double-movement

I also am not clear on whether this provokes an AoO, so when in doubt, I'm rolling it: 1d20 ⇒ 20

And then Rhost's Acrobatics roll (DC = 5+Hand CMB) 1d20 - 4 ⇒ (2) - 4 = -2

...and that went about as well as I would have expected....

A pause, "That seems resonable. However, if you don't tell us who you are, we are going to assume that you are a bad person. Because of the zombies and the creepy hand. So if you tell us who you are, and you aren't one of the people we are looking for... You probably won't die. So, I think that would be a good reason to tell us who you are. She smiles at you. "This is where I spout some infinite Druidic wisdom about how you leave something of yourself in each person you meet." She looks at you, a hint of humbleness in her gaze. "I was hardly a model parent, so perhaps I am not the best judge of these things, but... You allow your son to grow up in a home where he is safe and loved and cared for. That is the best gift you can give a child, in my opinion. And, it is something I was not able to do for my son." After a moment. "I do not think you are selfish." Lio Combat:
Lio glances at the bolt sticking out of her right side. She's pretty sure it's missed anything vital. Now if only she had brought more antitoxin. Well, nothing to be done about it now.

1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22 Knowledge Local to ID guy
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19 concentration to get spell off, in combat

She targets the strange humanoid that shot her, a flaming sphere forming where he is standing. "Sféar Dóiteáin"

Strange guy reflex save: 1d20 ⇒ 13
Damage (fire) 3d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 4) = 9

Duration 1 round/level
Saving Throw Reflex negates; Spell Resistance yes
A burning globe of fire rolls in whichever direction you point
and burns those it strikes. It moves 30 feet per round. As part
of this movement, it can ascend or jump up to 30 feet to strike
a target. If it enters a space with a creature, it stops moving for
the round and deals 3d6 points of fire damage to that creature,
though a successful Reflex save negates that damage. A
flaming sphere rolls over barriers less than 4 feet tall. It ignites
flammable substances it touches and illuminates the same area
as a torch would.
The sphere moves as long as you actively direct it (a move action
for you); otherwise, it merely stays at rest and burns. It can be
extinguished by any means that would put out a normal fire of its
size. The surface of the sphere has a spongy, yielding consistency
and so does not cause damage except by its flame. It cannot push
aside unwilling creatures or batter down large obstacles. A flaming
sphere winks out if it exceeds the spell’s range.

Druidic: Flaming Sphere

Lio:
He nods. "We're going to have a great deal of time to kill. Conversation might be all we have." A long, awkward pause, and when he speaks again, the hope is naked. "I also have a deck of cards."

The mention of Mel's feelings makes his face light up. Nothing fake there, just genuine joy. He looks about to speak, but clams up, merely nodding. A sudden self-consciousness that bloomed only because a good portion of his conscious mind shuts off when his ladylove is spoken of.

COMBAT ROUND THREE, part 1

”But then it only makes sense to tell you if I’m not one of the people you’re looking for,” the man says, reasonably. ”And I probably am. Since it’s about to become obvious, name’s Goti Runecaster.”

He fires a beam of acid from his hand at Melinda.

Meinda takes 16 hit points damage.

Lio glances at the bolt sticking out of her right side. She's pretty sure it's missed anything vital. Now if only she had brought more antitoxin. Well, nothing to be done about it now. She targets the strange humanoid that shot her, a flaming sphere forming where he is standing. "Sféar Dóiteáin"

Druidic:
”Flaming Sphere”

He manages to dodge away from the flames, however.

Liothonae should have saved again against the poison last round on her turn as well as this one. My bad. Since it would not have affected this turn’s actions (failing the first save could not have knocked her out), I will simply do both saves now, if necessary.

Fort Save 1, DC 20: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26

But it is unnecessary; last round, Liothonae managed to shrug off the effects of the poison.

Realizing that wrestling with a giant hand is an uphill battle, Hrunndalf decides to cheat, and breaks a few fingers instead of struggling free again. He bashes the hand with his Morningstar, with a crack of brittle bones.

The blow breaks open one of the pus sacks on the giant hand, and the sickly with pus inside sprays out.

Hrunndalf’s Reflex Save:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

Hrunndalf is unable to avoid the repugnant spray.

Hrunndalf is nauseated for: 1d3 ⇒ 1 rounds

Hrunndalf takes: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 4) = 9 hit points of negative energy damage.

Part 2

Rhost attempts to move past the Giant Hand and reach the Strange Humanoid. He finds that he still cannot get past, but since the Giant Hand is grappling Hrunndalf, it is unable to take another attack of opportunity against him.

Myri turns to Kalimac and Attatoq, "Trailmix? Jerky? Sorry, don't have anything to drink." She shrugs and winks at her halfling companion.

Kalimac idly wonders if he can bank his arrows around corners as he tries to get nearer the front to join the fray.

The Giant Hand gives Hrunndalf a squeeze.

Hrunndalf takes 13 hit points damage. He is at -6 hit points, unconscious, and dying.

The Oracle falls unconscious in its grip. The Hand releases him.

Hrunndalf is now prone.

Annoyed Mel resheathes the wand, uses her now free hand to loosen her hair. "مدخل" she whispers, and her hair grows, twisting around the corner and down the hallway where it snares the tusked humanoid, squeezing him with a crunch the same way the Hand just squeezed Hrunndalf.

Celestial:
Rapunzel

”Crikey!” says Goti Runecaster.

Alaric, wanting to conserve his waning energy, reloads his crossbow and waits for a way in.

The final zombie stands there looking stupid.

if Myri can move into Rhosts position (if/when he moves forward to attack the hand), she can usually take down undead fairly quickly...given Favored Enemy and all. Just saying. ;)

Male Human (Ulfen) Oracle of Battle 10

Is Hrunndalf's square "empty" for the purpose of other characters stepping there?

Round 3:

Should Hrunndalf wake up this round, he would still be nauseated. The only thing he could do is stand up, which will draw an AoO from the hand. Should the hand be dead or grappling someone, he will stand up (never mind the zombie). Otherwise he will delay until there's an opportunity to do so.

Stabilization check 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16

Is it possible to take a 5' crawl while prone? I suppose not? Anyway, I probably don't have anywhere to go.

Hrunndalf:
Just to quickly clarify, you would still be nauseated if brought to consciousness this coming round, but you would still get your move action even if you were woken up after your initiative turn.

Also Hrunndalf:
Jinx! Posted at the same time, I see you already knew.

Regarding crawling: Crawling 5 feet is a move action that provokes an AoO. You can attempt to avoid the AoO by making it a full-round action and succeeding on a difficult Acrobatics roll.

"You are right. We are looking for you. Where are our friends?" Mel's voice is cold, yet utterly polite.

"Oh, so it is you lot," he replies as he struggles with the strangling mass of hair. "Which means you would 'ave particular friends among our guests, wouldn't it? Which one's your favorite? The Screamer? Never-Talk? Crunchy-Bones? I like the Screamer," he confides. "She's pretty."

Kalimac gives Myri a grim smile. He appreciates her banter, but Goti's remarks about their friends has made him misplace his humor. "Right now I wish we listened to Hrunndalf's request for Fly spells. I'm pretty sure I could squeeze through over everyone's heads."

Kalimac and Attatoq continue to seek a way forward.
