Rhost gets 3d8 + 8 ⇒ (5, 8, 1) + 8 = 22
Myri gets 2d8 + 8 ⇒ (3, 3) + 8 = 14 and 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Kalimac gets 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10

The rest are from the wand, since Alaric has no more Cures or Channels left.

Rhost gets another 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Attatoq gets 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8 and a wary look from Alaric.
Melinda gets 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8

Alaric then goes to the door and appears to look through it.

Just so you know, that effect creates a stationary sensor. So to move it, you must recast it, taking another standard action.

Behind the second door is an unlit hallway. Because it is dark, clairvoyance only allows you to see 10' further in as yet.

"Hallway beyond that." Alaric shakes off the reverie, refocusing on Melinda. "Just treasure. The hall beyond is dark."

Boldly ignoring the keys that you found on Kimandatsu's body, Myriana easily picks the lock.

Beyond the door is a veritable treasure trove of valuables gathered into one place. Chests overflow with gold and silver ornaments. Crates hold trade bars of precious metals. Ornate, gilded drinking horns peek out of a burlap sack, and coffers spill forth gold and silver coins in quanities rarely seen in this part of the world.

When you get around to searching it, now or later, you will eventually find:

Deadly Kiss: A Tian-style +1 dagger with a blue metal blade. If the wielder is carrying poison on her person, she can, as a swift action, magically apply the poison to the blade with no chance of exposing herself to the poison. The poison simply disappears from its container and reappears on the blade. This consumes the dose of poison. As with any poisoned weapon, if an attack with the blade results in a natural 1, the wielder exposes herself to the poison unless she has the poison use special ability.

Shozoku of the Night Wind: This black bodysuit is of the type typically worn by ninjas and assassins, but it grants its wearer a +2 armor bonus and a +5 competence bonus on Stealth checks. In addition, if the wearer is in illumination of less than normal light, she can use invisibility, as the spell, once per day. If the wearer is a ninja with the vanishing trick ninja trick, then the wearer can use that ability twice per day without the expenditure of any ki points and regardless of the surrounding light level. (Two notes on this: 1) the Stealth bonus is a magic competence bonus, not a nonmagic circumstance bonus, so it will not stack with other stealth-providing magic items; 2) since this is a wondrous item, not a weapon or suit of armor, it will resize itself to fit any size of humanoid.)

In addition, there is a large pile of unsorted gear, most of which you immediately recognize as belonging to your captured friends.

"I... we, yes. Later." Lio blushes furiously, biting her lip, possibly in frustration so that she may keep herself under control. It's kind of a cute expression. She's still looking into your eyes, still holding on to your hands, but from somewhere, she finds the will to move a fraction of an inch away, so that you no longer feel the heat coming off her body.

The further door leads to an unlit hallway, which in turn leads down a winding set of stairs to a locked iron door.

Using his abilities to peer behind the door, the first thing out of Alaric's mouth is that your friends are on the other side.

Lio lets go of the hand you release, she maintains her hold on your other hand. She follows your lead, because really, she'd follow you anywhere. If anything, as you turn your head toward the store, her glance is drawn by the movement of the earrings. She smiles.

Lio, who was about to do the same thing, defers to the younger woman who is apparently quicker right now. Though she adds, Myri, ken ye check 'e door fer traps, or ef 'e keys dunna worke..." She makes sure she is close enough to Mel that she can push the young human out of the way of any danger, if it comes to it.

Checking the area of the effect, Liothonae is able to successfully use her readied action to push Melinda out of the way of the blast. Melinda takes no damage.


TORTURE CHAMBER

This room is filled with equipment that some of you find completely unfamiliar and some of you find horribly recognizable. Machines and apparatus with covered in spikes, screws, chains, and parts for purposes that are difficult to determine.

However, strangely enough, Liothonae is immediately able to see that the equipment has not been recently used.

Piled in one corner is a large pile of opened wooden packing crates, each big enough for a full-sized person, straw still spilling out of them. And chained up against one wall, unconscious, you see:

Ameiko
Koya
Sandru
Shalelu
Reta
Bevelek
Vankar
Spivey
Kelda
Zaiobe
Buttersnips
Uksahkka
And a man you don’t recognize who looks like this.

Those among you with knowledge of healing can tell they have been worked over. There are bruises, cuts, and broken fingers. But they are not as badly off as you would expect. With the exception of the unknown man, their wrists are not even chafed where the manacles are locked around them.

You do not think that the rest have been here for more than an hour.

The damage of the blast appears to have been entirely confined to the outside of the room.

Myriana does not spot any further traps.

Lio stops herself from rushing to Shalelu, and doesn't let anyone else pass either, not until Myri makes sure there are no further traps. She takes out the wand of cure light wounds and nods at Mel's question.

Once Myri gives the all clear, Lio goes to Shalelu's side, kneeling down next to her, and uses the wand of cure light on her to hopefully wake her up. 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

Mel waits by Ameiko, for either Myri to unlock the chains and for Lio/Alaric to be done with one of the wands. Patiently even.


None of the keys you have fit the manacle locks, but they prove to be fairly simple locks that Myriana begins picking one by one with ease.

Shalelu's eyes blink open.

Lio holds out the wand for Mel to take. Her eyes focused on Shalelu. "Annwyl?" Her words are soft, quiet.

Alaric rushes to Reta first, calling out her name. He's about to embrace her when he realizes she might be a little... tenderized.

From the wand:
For Reta: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 and 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Zaiobe is next. Alaric puts a hand on her cheek. 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 and 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Then Koya. 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 and 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Alaric visits everyone else in turn, putting 2 charges into each, leaving Shalelu for Lio to look after.


Female Quarter-Orc Sorcerer

Mel takes the wand with a quick, probably unheard "Thank you."

She tries to heal Ameiko into consciousness.
