Flexing the flex time

Before the meeting

As people move apart to take care of their personal business before the meeting Tollin gathers the sleds that everyone has dragged back to the caravan for him and moves them to a place where they will be out of the way. Once this is done he will take a few minuets to clean himself up.

The meeting

Once the food is ready Tollin will move to stand outside of the group at the boundary between the fire light and the darkness.

He slowly eats his stew listening to what is being said and watching the reactions of the others. As each person gives their support Tollin says nothing. He simply listens and watches.

"Look, I'm sure all of these scenarios went through everyone's head. What if they need a figurehead heir to rally behind? What if it falls to me to prevent anarchy with a provisional government? What if, what if, what if?"

"Look, I've already said we'll have to assess the situation when we hit the ground, and figure out the best approach. All I'm saying is that I'm sure as hellfire not going over there because I want to set myself up as Empress of Minkai, which makes that being the final end result of all this pretty darn unlikely."

at some point after hearing this

Myriana approaches Ameiko rather tentatively. "Aunty, um, things seem to be so different than in Sandpoint. It seems that um,...events...have maybe put you under a lot of pressure...and I don't have any advice to give...but if that is the case...and you would like someone to talk at...or yell at...or spar or something...I won't take it personal. I want you to be okay. So if you need to. Just let me know...'kay?"

apparently a little late, but Tollin and I had a loooong job today and I just got home and got caught up

Myri does get up early, helps finishing the cleanup at the Brinewall temple. She leaves a small token behind when they're done.

As Ameako, Hithik, and Alric discuss the possibilities of Ameako becoming an Empress Tollin walks over to the fire, places his bowl done, squats in front of Ameako and stares into her eyes for the span of eight heartbeats. Do you truly not wish to be the Empress of the Tian people?

Myri smiles and walks up to them. "May I?" she says, indicating a request to give Mel a hug. "I am very happy you are well." She says nothing to Alaric, but gives him a nod and a thankful smile, just for being there.

Alaric releases Mel's hand only reluctantly, though he seems far from annoyed by any interruption. More than anything, he looks like a man that has gone from crushing despair to pure joy and hasn't managed to sleep in between.

Mel looks a bit confused, but returns the smaller girl's hug. As the group heads to the castle she no longer looks quite so quietly effervescent.

Chapel cleaning
Mel looks over at Alaric, watching him for a moment. She turns back to the wall she is scrubbing with a half smile, lips moving.

Should Mel have a look, she finds, scratched into the wall where a child at prayer would see it, three words: LISTEN. THINK. ACT.

With a large group cleaning the chapel, work progresses swiftly. Soon, it has been cleaned and rededicated to the goddess Desna.

The work is satisfyingly physical and straightforward, helping Hrunndalf clear his mind after the ordeals of the past day.

One issue refuses to leave him in peace, though. After his return to the caravan, he visits Koya again, whom he hadn't managed to catch up with on the past night. Assuming he gets a private audience...

Koya:
Hrunndalf sheepishly enters the wagon. Clearly, he is not here to do some medical chores. Once seated, he takes a breath, and starts: "Koya, I'd like to ask for your help. It may bring along a conflict of interests, in which case please tell me so. I don't want to drag you into something. It's just... it's about Ameiko."

Hrunndalf looks positively embarrassed, something Koya hasn't seen in the hulking warrior in a while.

Hrunndalf tenses up a little as the ominous stranger focuses a disturbing amount of attention on Ameiko. He is pretty fast with those thundersticks... But Shalelu vouched for him. He forces himself to relax.

Myriana/Hrunndalf/Koya's Wagon/Catch-Up:

Liothonae:
would Lio be able to hear what's going on inside the wagon at all from right outside?

Yes, I would think so.

But talk to Mana before clicking on any post without a Perception DC attached. I am allowing such to be completely private even if other characters would technically be able to hear.

Koya's Wagon/Catch-Up & Hrunndalf too, if still there:

I believe Myri & Hrunndalf had exchanged smiles as Hrunndalf left & Myri arrived, however, Myri is merely there to listen and perhaps learn from her elders and those she respects....and perhaps learn a little more about Spivey, who is apparently not fey, but is very fey like. She belatedly realizes she didn't even say goodbye to Buttersnips and feels a little guilty about it. unless that hasn't happened yet There is something about sitting at Koya's feat that makes her feel like she's in a 'home'. She has nothing in particular she has thought about wanting to say, and probably not much to add to the conversation, but if asked on an opinion she will do her best to answer.

Just to be clear... do the ladies welcome listeners at their kaffeeklatsch, or do they want to be left alone? Is Myriana coming for a private consultation or just to chat as well?

Assuming it's open house at the Desna's: Hrunndalf listens with interest, always curious about the world beyond his sight. If the two ladies leave room for interaction, he asks: "So, Ms Spivey, what is the farthest you've ever journeyed?"

Ameiko seems rather taken aback by Tollin's intensity. After a few moments, she recovers her smile and attempts to joke it off.

"Well ... it sure sounds like a crap job."

Male Human (Ulfen) Oracle of Battle 10

For Koya's ears only:
"Oh, I'm sure you're getting this a lot, and must be tired of it already... but as you can no doubt tell, I count myself among the trail of googly-eyed love-struck fools Ameiko leaves behind wherever she goes. I used to be comfortable in that role, content to count myself among her friends, grateful for that... jocular rivalry that had established itself between us as a harmless, no-strings-attached way of dealing with one another that set me apart from her suitors. I think Ameiko felt comfortable around me precisely because I kept that particular can of worms closed. Me, I figured I would meet a pretty girl on my travels one day who would take my mind off her."

After a deep exhalation, looking over to Koya to gauge how she is taking things, he continues. "But this?", with a sweeping gesture, encompassing the caravan beyond the wagon's privacy, and the threat of danger looming above it, "This is making everything harder. She is always around, in the center of things or in the back of my mind, impossible to ignore. Worst of all—" he pauses for another breath and then continues in a lower voice, "Worst of all, it's not just on my side. This caravan is also bringing her closer to me. I feel we've reached a level of... closeness... beyond what we've had even in our short adventuring days. With all hell breaking loose around her, and the very ground gaping open beneath her feet, she needs to be able to depend, as an island of stability, as someone who's got her back. Someone unafraid to tell her 'no' and to speak without honey-glazing."

Hrunndalf looks exasperated. "The worst thing I could do to her now would be to make a rash move, to break the trust, the arrangement. She couldn't look at me eye-to-eye anymore if she knew. Yet—", another release of pent-up breath, "If I knew that she, too, wanted this to move on...? If she needed more from me than I am giving... I couldn't risk letting it pass. Gods know we might not get any second chances."

Hrunndalf looks up at Koya. "This is where I need your wisdom. I do not trust myself to read the signs correctly. You've known Ameiko for as long as anyone, and you have the gift of foresight. I ask you not to tip the scales unfairly in my favor, only to keep me from making the gravest mistake of my life. I would ask for your guidance, for Ameiko's sake as much as for mine."

"Oh, and don't worry," he says with a sheepish smirk, "I do not intend to become the new emperor."

Male Human (Ulfen) Oracle of Battle 10

For the record...

For Koya's ears only:
This means I'd like to outsource the Sense Motive checks made as part of courtship to a person of my trust with more than a +0 score. /:P

Male Half-elf Barbarian

GM:

Two basic questions.

First off, since Rhost has some K: Geography, can you point me to a resource showing general geography? Even just a sense for how far Karlsgard and Minkai are would be nice.

Second, healing without magic. How does that basically work, mechanics wise? I'm not seriously worried about it, but Rhost left Brinewall down 1 HP. And I thought I would ask.

Myriana/Hrunndalf/Koya's Wagon/Catch-Up:

mortals come to elysianfields sometimes, she says. hard to take, though. is pure. mortals have hardtime with purity. they are syncreticcreatures.

desnans mustmove. decided to come to seeworld. so became familiar. now am unfamiliar.

goback? nah. moveon.

Rhost:
With a full night's rest (8 hours of sleep or more), you recover 1 hit point per character level. Any significant interruption during your rest prevents you from healing that night. If you undergo complete bed rest for an entire day and night, you recover twice your character level in hit points.

Here is a map of the "Inner Sea Region" of the world (Golarion). Varisia and the land of the Linnorn Kings is up in the Northwest. The Crown of the World, which you must travel across to get to Minkai, is the icy bit across the top. Minkai is not shown on this map:

http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20080602015060/pathfinder/images/d/da /Golarion_map.jpg

Here is a supposedly inaccurate map of the whole world of Golarion:

http://www.google.com/imgres?q=map+of+golarion&hl=en&sa=X&biw=1 280&bih=635&tbm=isch&prmd=imvns&tbnid=NgrGALYcofXm4M:&i mgrefurl=http://pathfinder.wikia.com/wiki/Golarion&docid=PCwj7wADW3NFsM &w=1350&h=924&ei=JEKDTur2ApGl-gaw_eTTDw&zoom=1&iact=rc& amp;dur=348&page=1&tbnh=147&tbnw=194&start=0&ndsp=19&am p;ved=1t:429,r:5,s:0&tx=130&ty=22

Avistan, in the north center, is the continent containing Varisia and the Land of the Linnorn Kings. You can see the Crown of the World above it, and follow it east to Tian Xia, the continent that contains Minkai.

The biggest inaccuracy is that, supposedly, the continents are actually farther apart from each other than they look. Varisia to Minkai is a LONG trip.

GM:

Wow, I see. Quite the trek, then.

Coming to Pathfinder from Warhammer FRP, I am generally pleased when I am surprised by something. I can only imagine what it is like for people who move from D&D to WFRP.

Hrunndalf:
Koya takes a puff on her pipe. She does not seem overly surprised to hear your confession.

"Well," she says. "First part of what I'm going to tell you, I'll tell the same to anyone who comes in this door asking me the same question. Fair's fair."

"Girl got hurt bad at some point. Don't know how. Sandru knows, but good luck gettin' him to tell. Whatever it was burned her so bad she ain't looked twice at anyone since."

"Now that don't mean she never will. But she ain't ready yet, I can tell you that much. You ask now, she'll shoot you down, and good luck ever gettin' back up again after that. Or she won't, which'd be even worse."

"Now. Here's the part that's just for you. You're solid. That's good. You make her laugh. That's good. Girl needs a feller what makes her laugh. But maybe talk with her sometimes when you're not tryin' to make her laugh, too."

She grins at you. "Even the most open people hide sometimes. Don't hide too much."

Myri wrinkles her forehead at "syncretic", but let's it pass. "I am glad you became a familiar...and have decided to stay..for whatever reason. Do you sometimes miss it? The Elysian Fields, I mean? Can you return back and forth when you want too?" Myri does realize she is talking as much or more than she is listening. She is a little conflicted as that is not normal for her.

After cleaning the chapel, you all return to the Caravan and begin making ready for your departure.
