Thought we were doing group initiatives?


I don't recall discussing it...but I kind of like doing it individually so that those who've got good initiative aren't held back by those that don't.

The group initative idea was mainly to simplify and adapt combat turns to play-by-post with people posting as and when they can. Basically the PCs all act on their turn and the enemies all act after.

I think I remember it being talked about averaging, which would require having everybody's Initative mod values on file, and that hasn't been done yet. Regardless, I still rolled init and it can be fixed later.

I'm using it on the other table. Mercurion, you have 22 opponents not counting the party. Are you sure you want to do it this way? It is going to be very finicky. The group initiative system is designed to simplify things for pbp games.

it works like this
average each party's initiatives (round down) and roll. One side acts, then the other.
If a party member or heroic npc wants to, they can roll separately, delay or ready an action. Or not act, I suppose. Ordinary npcs act as per their initiative. Rolling separately, delaying or rreadying an action creates a third acting side.

this allows quicker resolution on pbp battles. Especially with large battles.
In general the gm works out the average initiative, and rolls them openly. I simply looked at each character and took the initiative values from there.

As always you are the gm, and these.are suggestions.


It's not really 22 opponents...I just didn't want the party to know exactly how many actual opponents there are until they see them. so this is like when the DM randomly rolling large numbers of dice behind the screen-- tends to freak people out :)I just use the first X number of rolls from each set.

What I typically do is allow each PC their roll, and then do group rolls for opponents by type. So in this case, there are only two "types" of opponents facing the PCs, so only two initiative slots.

So actual initiative in this case is:
--> Majuba, Tigerwolf, oppo type I, Odak, Greez & Karol, Garmack, Dergosh, oppo type II. Pretty manageable.

First time using these boards, and I find the rolling mechanism a little clunky. I'd prefer players not be able to see opponents attacks bonuses, save bonuses, etc. but it is what it is.

ARTWORK UPDATE!

In order of appearance, unlisted characters unchanged;
• DRAXIA: Enlarged Orc teeth to reflect Bite feat(s), added a few scars and a tattoo on the neck to start with, defined the hands and fingers a bit more.

• KAROL: Added hair (would be hard to see under hat), refined facial features a little bit including the chin, mouth and brows. Defined one hand but still very basic.

• GARMACK: Big clean-up involving painting over body sketch so now the clothing looks neat and tidy now. No other changes.

• TIGERWOLF: Moved another leg to try to fix posture and balance, streamlined the waistcost and neck a bit.

• ODAK: Changed the design of the armour boots, other style was exotic but a little unwieldy. Height changed to 15ft, still Large-size according to RAW.

• MAJUBA: Restored to 9-10ft tall as requested, added new outfit details all around to resemble a professional Witch-Doctor. Forgot to add the Scars, will try next time.

• GREEZ: Removed facial paint from cheeks, enlarged scaled to 15ft, still counts as Large according to RAW. Added a bit of hatching to clothes.

Draxia's outfit is what I thought an Elven dress would look like, as established in the first game.

I could probably add the bongo-sized drum to the belt but I intentionally avoided adding things like weapons and shields as it obfuscates the view of the characters, which is the whole point of the line-up. Granted, people like Odak are all covered up, but the view is also for 'in battle' too, and taking the armour off for Odak is like dressing down to the undies.

tl;dr, I'll try adding a drum to the belt next update.

Kind of wished I didn't waste my Power points on that augmented Stomp and Inevitable Strike now. Stomp doesn't do anything on Save and I could've really done with hitting my second knockout hit right about now. I don't regret using Empathic Transfer on Majuba, and probably would've used the stomp PP to do another for Karol if I could go back.

Odak's probably going to feel a little zoned out too, having depleted his psionic power.

It appears the Inevitable Strike power of Odak's seems to be both his strongest and most dependant ability of all, can't hit for s**t and it'll only get lower when I finally switch to greatsword next level.

It'll get way better next level when Odak can psionically swap places with an ally being attacked and take the hit himself. At least then I could save folks like Karol a lot of hurt in the future. No DC or AC to check that!

Well considering the amount of players and thier geographical proximity, I would actually say it's going at a decent pace. I really don't expect a whole lot on the weekends and RL stuff can creep up and bite you when you least expect it.
