Danaris Krupt |
I believe I was with Gar investigating the storerooms. I had a perception roll up a few posts. It was a 22.
Danaris thoroughly examining the bedroll, hoping to find some sort of clue as to what the goblins were doing. "We been through all these storerooms, right? We didn't overlook one? I'd hate to leave any stone unturned. Even though I feel like we've flipped these rocks over at least twenty times each. I can't believe that those goblins could've just disappeared."
Do we have a sense of what time it is? Danaris needs to be sure to rest enough to recover his spells.
Zees |
Satisfied that there is nothing to find, Zees finds the rest of the group and advises them of the results of his search. He then volunteers to either take the first or last watch. When the time comes, he will go to sleep hoping tomorrow will work out better. In the morning he will memorize:
0 - Daze, Ray of Frost, & Light
1 - mage armor, magic missle, & burning hands.
Dorin Zstel |
Dorin helped keep watch with Danaris and Kast by the door to the hidden level below, fitfully sleeping when he got a chance.
(Dorin didn't use any 1st-level spells but he did use his Heavenly Fire quite a bit. If he rests he will regain the used spell-like abilities. I'll have to see if robin allows Dorin "sleep", given his morose attitude. :) )
(Obviously we have a dungeon level to clear down below. Do we go back to the prison cells and proceed from there? And robin, sorry if I asked this before, but did we get xp for the 3 monsters? I'm not tracking it yet on my profile page.)
'Gar' Duncrick |
"You kids had a rough day. Think about revenge tomorrow, don't push yourself tonight." Gar will take one watch, letting the magic types sleep.
robin |
Kendra listen to what Malcolm has to say and then replies
"Very well , since there are no monsters anymore in the glassworks , I'll have some people in to bring the remains of our friends to the cathedral. "
There is no door down there but just a brick wall where an hole has been made to allow ingress. Otherwise it is still morning and you'll have to wait for tomorrow to renew your spells . "
robin |
You are all waiting for sleep to come down in the earth . Only one or two hours have passed since your foray into the underground complex when you all hear a voice coming from the hole in the wall . While the voice speaks in thessalonian , it is nevertheless quite raspy and grates on your ears
For those of you speaking thessalonian
I wonder if it is confidence or stupidity you are showing there . You invade one's home , kill one of the guard and then camp on the doorstep . Why should I not kill you all now ?
Kast Phaer |
Kast stirs at the voice.
"You speak an old tongue. You are welcome to try to kill us, your guards failed. We just wanted to talk. Are you better than they are at either?"
Kast will ready his shield and morningstar.
Zees |
Zees hears more voices on the wind. This one at least does not know his name.
Zees begins to pull the scroll of burning hands out.
Dorin Zstel |
So much for sleep!
Dorin shakes himself fully awake at the voice in the Old Language, and the threat in the words. "To arms! To arms! Another one of those creatures is upon us!" he cried out in warning to the others. Dorin started casting Dancing Lights to fully illuminate the hole in the wall.
'Gar' Duncrick |
"Didja ask 'im about the girl? That's all we want." Gar is restlessly adjusting his grip on his adze. Slow translated negotiations with this creature just might kill him.
robin |
The same raspy voice will speak this time in common
I tend to forget that you mortals ones speak different languages .
So to resume , we have some blustering buffoons eager to meet their demise. One smallish creature asking for a girl: given his appearance, he 'll need luck ... and an interesting human who speaks of common enemies while readying a scroll . Methinks , this one has a glimmer of wits and might be worthy. So dear , what do you want in life : power , knowledge , revenge , fame ? All of these I could procure to you if you are interested .
Meanwhile , Dorin's lights reveal an empty corridor
Malcolm Cavendish |
I truly desire what you could never obtain, evil beast - the perfection that only the Master of the First Vault can provide. You are merely a malformation of evil that I shall eradicate in Abadar's name! Show yourself to taste perfection!
Zees |
So dear , what do you want in life : power , knowledge , revenge , fame ? All of these I could procure to you if you are interested .
"Knowledge. I would start with who or what you are. That should be easy to procure. Then I would know what we mortals have done to garner the interest of someone such as you. What has turned our town into a magnet for the amazing and unusual?"
robin |
Can't you make yours curs silent ? My dear little boy , why would you be so special ? You just had the misfortune to be born in a place where the mother chose a new devotee . Of course , given the awful treatments she endured while in your town, I'm afraid that means your town is doomed. As to who I am , I am a priest of the great mother of course as you could even as a man
Knowledge religion DC 12
The great mother is of course Lamashtu the mother of monsters , she is CE .
Dorin Zstel |
To say Dorin was surprised by the empty corridor was an understatement. It's not the big creatures from before that spoke in the Old Language? Then what can...it must be invisible! But what can make itself invisible? And how do we hit it? he thought. He needed to tell the others.

Kast listens, trying to pinpoint where the voice is coming from.
1d20 ⇒ 4 Perception
"Who are you? Where are your angry guards?"

"They are not my curs. I do not know why I am special, but I am and I don't know if I would count it my misfortune to be here. It seems fortunate for the town that my friends and I are here. Why is our town doomed? What is its doom?"
About to travel to the mountains for the weekend. I'm unsure of coverage and will be working by cell phone, so it might go slow until Sunday night.

Danaris whispers to the party: "This mother that she is talking about . . . I think she is referring to Lamashtu, the mother of monsters. That's not one of the friendlier deities. I fear that, even if we come to some sort of agreement, we cannot count on this creature to keep her word"
robin |
No no dear boy . since you seem determined to save paysans , I'll keep mum about this . Now do you want a showdown ? Here is something to wet your appetite then
Thus saying , the voice begins to incant
Spellcraft is DC 47 since the creature is invisible but it is at least a full round incantation .
Here is a map
Place yourselves on it and Initiative and Perception checks would be a plus
Dorin Zstel |
Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Perception check: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
(I think Dorin was at G34, the back of the party, the intersection before the brick wall.)
Hearing the incantation and knowing the action of the spellcasting indicating the level of the spellcaster, an alarmed Dorin shouted out "It's casting a spell invisibly! It must be a mighty spellcaster! Watch out!". He ducked out of the way (to G39, the edge of the map) to protect himself from a possible conflagration.
Cast Mage Armor on himself and go back into the fray with Ray of Frost.
'Gar' Duncrick |
Gar will take J34, unless someone doesn't want to be right in the front, in that case, he would take K34.
Initiative -> 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Perception -> 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Gar holds his tongue at this creature's insults. Let it run it mouth and give itself away.

"So much for talking."
Gar pauses to let Malcolm take the lead, before rushing ahead.
Delay until Initiative 20 after Malcolm.
Malcolm Cavendish |
Round 1, Initiative 21
Malcolm switches to his crossbow and fires down the hallway in the direction of the disembodied voice. (Firing along L34, M34, N34, O34, and P34)
Can someone give me a location on this bastard?
Cross Bow ATT: 1d20 ⇒ 8
50% Miss Chance: (High Good): 1d100 ⇒ 65
Cross Bow DAM: 1d8 ⇒ 1
'Gar' Duncrick |
"Oh, Enough of this!" Gar moves past Malcolm and rushes down the hall yelling. "Show yourself, you ugly bug."
Gar moves to N-34 (move action), if he doesn't encounter anything, he will continue to move to P-34 (double move). If his first move does encounter something he will swing at it.
Perception to pin point the new spell -> 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18

Round 01, Initiative=10, map is undersandpoint round
HP=7/7 points, AC=13 (touch 13, flat-footed 10), wearing both gauntlets, speed=30 ft.
Fort=+1, Ref=+3, Will=+3
Spells: inf/4 for 0th/1st; Acid Splash is 1/1; Heavenly Fire is 3/6
Dorin cast Mage Armor (+4 to AC) on himself. This time I'm not getting hit. he thought, feeling the prickly sensation of the spell on his skin. He began the spell for Ray of Frost to hit the dog inbetween Zees and Danaris.
